Esther 8:17 and many of the people of the land became Jews.
If the people of the land "became Jews" it wasn't by blood, so it must have been ceremonial and believing in the true God. Were they then part of the nation of Isreal that can claim promises from God?
Today we see Iran as one of the strongest enemies of ISREAL ,yet King Ahasuerus made a law then in biblical times for the Jews not to be destroyed ,if only people would read the bible and believe in Jesus Christ a lot of these trails and tribulations we go through would be eliminated
Janie, the King mentioned in the Book of Esther is King Ahasuerus, a Persian King. His kingdom stretched from India (actually, from the Indus River) to Ethiopia & had over 127 provinces ( Esther 1:1). As you have read this account, Queen Esther was a Jew & Mordecai, also a Jew, brought up young Esther when her parents had died. However, the evil Haman wanted all the Jews in the land to be slaughtered as he lied to the King that the Jews were people who disobeyed the King's laws. Then with the intervention of Esther & Mordecai, they were able to have that edict removed & the have Haman punished & put to death. And so the Jews of the land enjoyed peace & tranquility once again. However, this also meant (in 8:17), that some of the people of other beliefs who saw the favour given to the Jews & their position with the King, began to be afraid of their own position, so some of these converted to Judaism, probably to save their skin. We are not told who these people were, but must have included a great variety as the King's kingdom was huge.
Esther was a purposeful and focused woman. She was privileged by divine favor to become a queen during her time and she did not disappoint God even at the expense of her own life. Thus, she was honored having a portion in the Bible we are reading today. We are where we are in order to fulfill God's purpose. Remember, you are already writing a book now. Will it edify like Esther?
Ren (cont.); Jude 1:5 "I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not." 2 John 1:8 "Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward." "..the devils also believe, and tremble." Read Matthew 7:21-27
Ren; God is not willing for anyone to perish, and He has made every provision for ALL men everywhere to benefit from His Gift of reconciliation and salvation from sin through His Son Jesus Christ. But men have their part as well, to prove whether they are of the truth by hearing Jesus' voice, repenting of sin AND quitting them, and believing; and continuing steadfast unto the end. Read Jude 1:5
@Sam so if once saved always saved is a lie what about 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
Remember Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. Ask him to forgive you and he will, ask him to be your savior and he will. then MOST IMPORTANT. After you sin from this point onwards, you MUST REPENT of your sins in order to enter heaven Once saved Always saved is a lie. God Bless you all
