There are and have always been 7 days in a week no matter their names. The week starts on sunday and ends on saturday any calendar will show you such. Therefore sunday being 1 while saturday is 7 makes it the sabath. Mondays is regarded as the first day of the work week and friday the last. Seems interesting how our world praises saturday as a day to go out clubing indulging in sex drugs and all matters of sinfull behavior, only to drive us further from god. It all just seems self explanatory.

Do the TEN COMMANDMENTS also relate themselves to the PSALMS?
  • Dewey J on Exodus 20 - 9 years ago
Carolyn, the Holy Ghost is telling me that is not the correct interpretation of that Scripture. Jehovah was warning man against making false images of himself namely. Because men are deceived very easy by Satan. They would and later did make graven images of things of heaven, earth, and the sea. God gave us technology as a gift to enjoy. I Can 't see from Scripture how one can make a graven image with a modern camera unless they take a picture of a graven image and worship the picture. Phil. 4:5 says, "Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. God bless us all and in the understanding of his Word. Glory be to Jehovah in the highest through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!

George Bvute, God made man to rule the world therefore, the bible was written by Holy men of God as they were moved-or- inspired by the Holy Ghost. Moses himself inspired by God through his Holy Ghost wrote the first five books of the bible. 2 Tim. says, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Peter 1:20,21 says, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation. V21 " For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. God bless us all and in the understanding of his Word. Praise be to Jehovah in the highest through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!
  • George bvute on Exodus 20 - 9 years ago
Some say th Bible was written by God himself, is that true cosidering that Exodus 20 suggest that someone was stating what the Lord had presribed.

For this is the love of God: This is the kind of love that God desire of us our entire day-by-day life must be molded by the commandments of God 2 John 1:6. That we keep his commandments: The commandments of God as delineated in Exodus 20:3-17 must be the defining standard of our lives and we must adhere totally to it, for it is the only litmus test of determining whether we are Christians or not. According to James 2:10, if we are err in any of it, then we are guilty of all. A lawyer of the Pharisees extraction once ask Christ a tempting question Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus answered him by summarizing the content of the two tables of stones that Moses collected from God thus: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. He when further to add that And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matthew 22:35-39. The phrase, the second is like unto it signifies that Exodus 20:3-11 which spells our relationship with God cannot be complete without Exodus 20:12-17 which spells our relationship with our neighbour. We cannot claim to love God if we don t love our brother whom we are seeing 1 John 4:20-21.

As humans we seek fulfillment in earthly pleasures. We long for that which we do not have. When we seek perfection and find disappointment and frustration, it is because God is not number one in our life.
  • Carolyn on Exodus 20:4 - 9 years ago
My son pointed out that the verse includes likeness separately from graven image and said that it includes photographs so will no longer use a camera. I am here to research this since what he said seems true and yet I do not want to give up pictures that help me remember happy times, like being with my family.

GEN 7-4-30...Dewey, you said in your comment on 4-22, I would say sin not God, created these diseases, the fact being that sin is transgression of the law, nothing more, it in itself cannot create anything Dewey, Exodus 20: 11... For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it... Notice it says and all that in them is, that would include bacteria and viruses...like malaria, smallpox. Ebola, It doesn 't matter what it is God either created it or allowed it to be created. AMEN!!

All the laws are based on two major points. 1 Our love to God our maker creator. 2 Our love to fellow men.

  • Aretha Cotton on Exodus 20 - 9 years ago
obedience, standing comprehension of knowing the truth in trying honestly to do what God wants us to not trying to be our selves but letting go and letting God totally and completely take over your life your life situations staying in Prayer most definitely best to keep all laws of God
  • Jumin on Exodus 20:3 - 9 years ago
Nearly all translations, including the KJV, say "...no other gods before me. " Does this mean I can have other gods after him? Only one translation says "...but me. " This implies that the original Hebrew may have allowed implicit polytheism at one point in the Bible 's history. Just wondering if anyone could find a chronological comparable timeframe that negates that notion. Thank you.

When we talk of exodus 20,its a different thing,it is beyond our humanity and without the guidance of the spirit, first thing we find in this chapter God himself in a character and he is sharing his character to us the way we need live a life acceptable before him.from the time sin entered in this world the character of God became obscure simply because the devil always brings deceitful things before us.so through his everlasting love he has for us he gave his prophet the ten commandments to see through as mirror in our living to see where we have gone wrong and come back to him through asking forgiveness in repentance of our sin we have committed.the law is very important to us and we need to keep his law by accepting Jesus as our personal savior and his character will start to germinate in us..i

  • MockingBird on Exodus 20:3 - 9 years ago
God put this warning in His word because we are flesh and we have a notion from time to time to allow our flesh to want something other than to have God in our lives. That is why it is in God 's word. There are many warnings in God 's word of exhortation to beware of . We will always be warring against our flesh to have other things before us other than God. He says that He is the one and only God because He is the one and only true God. Anything that I put before Him is an idol. If my Lord tells me that I must need to meet with Him in prayer and there is a TV show on that I had been wanting to watch for a long time : I watch the show instead : Then that TV show is god : an idol to me and then and I missed what God had in store for me . Not good at all !! Just one of many things that come into our lives.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. To honour ones parents means to give them the respect that they deserve. To honour someone is to bring out the good not the bad, qualities, and characteristics of them. Speak positive things, about the person in whom you honour. Speak respectfully to them. Do not disrespect your parents. Overlook the negative things, cover the mistakes or wrongs of a person with love and forgiveness. When honouring someone be sure to leave that person in good reputation. To God be the glory in Jesus name Amen.

Mike, personally I believe it is good to worship God everyday of the week however, God set aside the seventh day as His day of rest. Genesis 2:3 - And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Exodus 20:8 - Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

God has appointed time to destroy the works of the defeated devil. We must accept his words as his words gives us life, peace and joy. Jesus loves you
  • Lilian on Exodus 20 - 9 years ago
God loves us so much even from his death he confirmed his love and mercy to us. In fact he provide us his words as his words is so powerful and we must accept his words. Fix your eyes to Jesus and he who loves him will keep his commandments. Jesus will help you to understand his words just accept him. God revealed himself that he is God. He made and created all things that we can and can 't see therefore He is the only one who can destroy everything he have made. Jesus loves us as he always confirmed his love to us.. The scripture says as God promises that every man will bow down before God whether you believed or not He is God, our King and we are his servants that needs to bow down to our King. Jesus loves you whether you believed or not.

Tina, verse 4 means not to have any other gods - graven images - don 't worship the moon, stars, planets etc. OR anything else that may take the place of GOD. Hope this helps. God bless.

The Sabbath day, according to both Exodus 20:8-11 and Genesis 2:1-3 is the seventh day of the week. The seventh day of the week is Saturday, the day that falls between the day Jesus was crucified Preparation day and when He resurrected the first day of the week according to Luke 23:54-24:1.

IF Exodus 20:13 "Thou shalt not kill. " is wrong, then how many other errors are in the Holy Bible? There are 134 occurrences of "Kill ", and 17 occurrences of 17 and 137 occurrences of slay in the Old Testament. IF the translation of "kill " in Exodus 20:13 should have been "murder ", then why are there occurrences of both Kill and Murder in the Old Testament?

I am Seventh Day Adventist and the fourth commandment seems to be the hardest for most peopel to believe. Most will attempt to explain it away or ask how do you know the caledars are correct? I have no comment for that type of questioning because God 's word is very clear.
