Hi Ani. GiGi has shared accurately with you and I would like to add some more thoughts for your study & consideration.

I'm unsure where you obtained this particular Bible study book from, as it's clearly slanted towards 'keeping of the Law'. Does your Church support this teaching or are you doing this study by personal choice?

Firstly, the Jewish Sabbath has always been the Saturday (from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday) & was given to Israel as part of the other commandments for them to observe ( Exodus 20:8-11). Why was this particular Command given? It was the seventh day when the LORD ceased from His Work of creating & it was for a remembrance when God brought out His people "with a mighty hand & a stretched out arm": i.e. from the perennial state of bondage & hard labor in Egypt to a time of liberty & rest. Even when Israel collected their food (Manna) while in the desert, they were not allowed to gather it on the seventh day ( Exodus 16:19-30), indicating the sanctity of the Sabbath Day.

Secondly, the Christian observance of Sunday, is not a redefining of the Jewish Sabbath - it is what is termed, the Lord's Day ( Revelation 1:10), or the First Day of the Week ( Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2) - never the Sabbath.

Thirdly, the Church is not required to observe the Jewish Sabbath as we were never in bondage in Egypt & brought into Canaan. We were however, once in bondage to sin & the flesh & now given a glorious forgiveness & release into the Lord's Rest. See Matthew 11:28-30 and Hebrews 4:1-11. Not only is the Christian given Christ's Peace in his heart, but also a resulting rest that comes only from Him. And yet, there is also a coming rest ( Hebrews 4:9), where the word here is 'sabbatismos', or Sabbath Rest: a rest in God's Presence that will be one continual Sabbath Rest, when our earthly toils & hardships are finally over.

Why is it that people do not read the beginning of the chapter 3 and obey what Jesus said? John 3:16 is true but we must read the beginning first. Especially John 3:3-7.

Sorry, but water baptism IS most certainly in the new testament. It is about water baptism AND being spirit filled w the Holy Ghost, as we live a holy life for Christ with love.

John 3:3-5 & Matthew 28:19 is fulfilled in Acts 2:38.

    Psalm 75.

Once again; we see Asaph as he does quite often give a prophetic statement as to the fate of the earth in the end with several cross references of interest.

Verse 2 seems to be a veiled reference to the Rapture; or possibly those who are Jews that believe and survive to the end of the Tribulation in the reference to "when I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly. (see 2 Cor. 5:10; Exodus 20:35-38 in the context of Exodus 20:34 as a future event of gathering from the nations).

Verse 3 reminds us of heaven and earth passing away in Revelation 21:1-4 and Matthew 24:35).

Verses 4 through 7 remind us of the "little horn" ( Dan. 7:8) who is Antichrist himself. God allows Satan and his throne in the Tribulation to suit his purposes; ultimately to separate wheat from chaff; and to draw everyone together at Armageddon ( Rev. 19; Psalm 2).

Revelation 14:10 is much like verse 8 referring to the "wine of the wrath of God". That theme is also seen in Jeremiah 25:15-17; and similar themes in Isaiah and without a doubt in other scriptures.

Again the end of this Psalm shows that only praising God is worthwhile (v. 9) and right wins out in the end. That is basically a big theme in all of scripture; the meek shall inherit the earth ( Matt. 5:5).

    Hello Giannis, good post.

From what I know, one can marry a Catholic and not be required to become a Catholic. This happens all of the time. The matter is that of whether the marriage is considered am approved "Catholic" marriage or not, and this varies from priest to priest, or from bishop to bishop in this denomination.

Also on what you said concerning the commitment of Catholics to true faith, while this is often the case, this is also true of people in other denominations. There are devote and sincere believers in all denominations. And there are those in every denomination who are what is often termed "nominal" or in name only.

A person who is sincerely committed to Jesus should seek to marry someone who is also so. But thinking of the age at which most people marry, both people usually are somewhat immature in life and in faith. So, we marry whom we have chosen and mature in Christ and life together.

Spiritual reality and religion do not mix .

If you do it is the spiritual reality that is lost for you have married contrary to the will of God .

How can two walk together unless they agree ?

In marrying them what are you agreeing to ?

    Hi J

Do you mean a christian Catholic or just somebody who has the name "christian" but doesn't practise a christian life? Is the other person saved or not? The problem is not marrying to a christian from any another church but marrying to somebody who is christian as a custom (because their parents were and baptized them when babies) but doesn't really believe in Jesus, their lives show no real faith, no change, no fruit. And Catholics are ususally like that (but not always).

Anyway a marriage between a believer and a non believer(I am putting a question mark on that) may be a big problem. How can two different lives, beliefs, practises be compromised together? A common life has to rely on some standards, some common rules etc. What are those going to be? Somewhere in between? Can the light be compromised with darkness, purity with sin, truth with lie? Such unions often lead to difficult situations. You will want to go to the church and she will want to go to a club, you will wish to hear christian music and she will want to watch some worldly sinful moovies, you will not say lies but she will do that. What will the rules that you will raise your kids with? You may believe that you will attract her to the real faith but often the opposite occurs. Sin is powerful and if you are not careful then you may find yourself in a big big trouble. Now if she is a believer but the Catholic way then things are better ...

The above are general things, it is you who knows the other person and know what to expect from her. Why don't you ask for God's advice, ask for His guidance. He knows better than our heart. Pray to God and if you are in a church consult your pastor, the elders etc. especially those who know that other person and can tell you a few things.

(I think that if you want to be married in a Catholic church then you must become a Catholic yourself and be baptized in water in the Catholic church, but I am not so sure about that)

Catholics believe you can marry a baptized Christian. Yet on the other hand, Christ died for our sins therefore, baptism of water is NO longer a factor. ONLY spiritual baptism.! If we reject His victory over the grave, we deny ourselves a place in eternity. But if we accept the truth, Paul assures that we will be saved. Having ever lasting life.!

Pray for anyone who recently voted in support of candidates who plan to commit mass murder of innocent babies. Murder is evil ( Exodus 20:13) and its evil to support people who plan to carry out murder.

Those who committed the sin of fornication and have no plans to take adult responsibility to raise a baby can still let the baby have its right to life by being adopted by a loving family. Sadly, most democrats in their worldly ideology would rather selfishly murder a baby than let God's precious gift be raised in a loving home and have an opportunity at life. Some motivational speakers today are alive because of failed abortions. God is clear on what He thinks of murder and taking of His precious life He created. Jeremiah 1:5

1Corinthians 13:12, yes, it says ._. "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

There seems to be scriptures that sort of suggest that it's possible. John 11, Hebrews 12:1, following from Hebrews 11, Mark 9:2-4, Matthew 17:1-3, 1Samuel 28:15-19,

We will all give account, Matthew 25:31-46, Romans 14:12, Philippians 2:1-16, Deuteronomy 5:11, Exodus 20:7, Mark 9:39, Matthew 12:31, in context Matthew 12.

Lord, I pray you guide my words

Is there any holiday, or day specifically meant for God, or even Jesus? If we love our god, and his son Jesus. Then surely there should be a day that is meant entirely for the praise of our Lord. I don't believe Halloween brings glory to God.

But there isn't officially. Even Easter is manipulated. Plastic eggs full of candy, distributed by a fictional easter bunny does not bring glory to our lord. Our instructions are in the 10 commandments. The second commandment speaks to me about holidays specifically.

    Exodus 20:4-6

"4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

    5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments."

So what is the celebration of Halloween for?

Well the major themes are always fear and darkness. That is not from our God. God is the creator of light and divider of darkness.

    Genesis 1:3-4

"3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness."

Darkness and fear are work of the Devil. Let us not worship the enemy and the father of lies. Let us praise our God and bring glory to him.

Lord, I pray that you will guide my words for a fit answer.

I've thought about this quite a bit being the oldest of 10. I was raised with the idea Santa is real. Well, I learn that santa is not real. I do however learn the 10 commandments.

The second commandment really speaks to me about holiday celebrations. We are instructed to not make any graven image unto the lord. Nothing from the heavens, the earth, or from below in the sea.

    Exodus 20:4-6

4 "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

    5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments."

Celebrating a false idol such as Santa, is a violation of the second commandment.

However, if we are to celebrate the glory of God, and Jesus Christ. Then I agree with Christmas. There is also nothing wrong with spending time to with family and friends. As long as it will bring glory to our Lord. Also, to make memories and celebrate life and love with your family which was designed by God is a Glory unto our lord.

My final Conclusion on how you should live.

    Ecclesiastes 12:13

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."

    No,

1 John 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

11 But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and take his life that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:

12 Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the kinsman avenger of murder, that he may die.

    Paul.

You claim that Exodus 33:11 and Exodus 33:20 is a contradiction.

Exodus 33:9-20. And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the CLOUDY PILLAR DESCENDED, AND STOOD AT THE DOOR OF THE TABERNACLE, AND THE LORD TALKED WITH MOSES.

Paul I believe what is mentioned here is the Lord spoke to Moses "DIRECTLY" as a man speaks to his friend. He spoke to him from the cloudy pillar. Moses never saw his face. They interact as friends as Abraham interacted with the Lords angel in Genesis 18.

I believe the emphasis in verse 11 is on the Lord spoke to Moses as a friend and directly.

The children of Israel also saw the Cloudy pillar at the door as they did in Exodus 19:18 and Exodus 20:18-19. but they didn't speak to the Lord as Moses did.

AND ALL THE PEOPLE SAW THE CLOUDY PILLAR STAND AT THE TABERNACLE DOOR: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

Verses 17-20. And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

    There's no contradiction here.

    God bless.

    Hi Andy.

Thou shalt not kill. Exodus 20:13.

Can you commit suicide without killing yourself?

    Yes suicide is a sin.

    God bless.
  • Adam - In Reply - 2 years ago
Hi Andy, while the Bible doesn't specifically address that, we know its a sin because Exodus 20:13 says not to kill that would be violating that exact command by destroying God's creation. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17. We are made in His image and are priceless. The bodies we temporarily inhabit are God's holy temples that belong to God and not us.

This topic is asked fairly often and some may be asking for others and some for themselves. In the event you are having such thoughts yourself, please let us know so we can listen to you and offer support. There are hotlines and sites online specifically designed for that too.

It may be a surprise to know how many people know what its like to be in that place by personal experience. To the person in the valley, the temporary struggles often like blinders and makes it hard to see clearly realities outside of that limited thinking. God always provides a way out, even if we don't notice it right away. People usually need a radical paradigm shift and something like volunteering to help people can accomplish that. God is there to help ease or burdens and His body of believers is there to offer support. God bless.

Hello Sobha. In this chapter on the building of the Temple, verse seven tells us that the stones required for this building was cut & shaped outside of this building's precincts. This was so because there was to be no use of such tools in this construction that would cause excessive noise & clamour in this holy place.

We remember a similar injunction given to Moses ( Exodus 20:24,25) to construct an altar for burnt offerings, with natural un-shaped stones & not to use any tool to shape it. So it seems that it was not only the unnecessary noise that would result from using tools, but also (in the Solomon's Temple's matter), that man's skills for stone preparation were to be utilized away from the building site; and that once at the site, the workers had to do their work carefully & mindfully, knowing that this was to be the House of the LORD according to the LORD's design which was to be followed to the minutest detail.

    EXODUS 20:1-26

7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will NOT hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

I think it is pretty clear that using Gods name in cursing and swearing is forbidden. We praise His Name, as His children. We know in our hearts that it's wrong.

If you read through the prophetic books (Isaiah, Ezekiel etc) you will see the angelic beings in Heaven praising God. It impressed me when I read that.

If we can put God's Name in a swear and feel no shame, or nothing (in our hearts)__we are not born again.

    John 3.

    Read 1 Corinthians 12:3

People curse God every day. If we hear it endlessly, we might curse God too. That's why we are to separate ourselves away from that. I do ask people to not swear on Gods Name in my presence. They know it's wrong, but they still do it. Sometimes I have to excuse myself and go home.

Truly, it is a call to pray for people who do it without thinking.

I do not watch any TV or movies that speak Gods name as a curse. There are 100's of Christian Movies on YouTube: Jesus of Nazareth, Book of John movie, Paul, Peter. This kind of media can edify the Christian. We can learn. If something is unscriptural, we can spot it, if we know what scripture says.

People will respect us more if we ask them to not swear on God's Name. Truly we don't need to attend parties or other places where alcohol is being served because that's when self-control is diminished.

    Hope this helps?

    (Streetpreacher)
