The destruction of offspring made in God's image certainly is occurring today; even if it isn't directly related to idol and demon offerings and sacrifices. Exodus 23:7 and Proverbs 24:11 are prescient verses regarding this matter.
As I stated in the last post; Satan has come close to his goal but ultimately will never succeed. We should heed to God's warnings when destruction is on the horizon; whether war or famine. It is true that we don't always know what is happening but unlike Lot we should seek to remove ourselves from the council of the ungodly (see Psalm 1) before God's wrath comes. The enemy typically works in two ways; either through direct physical persecution or through deceptions involving the mind (or both). The days of sugarcoating his agenda are gone; as seen from the in your face Satanism in the schools and entertainment.
The attempt to break free from the fetters and boundaries God has set in place (see Psalm 2) seems to show that the attempted overthrow of Christ Himself as stated in the Psalm as well as Revelation 19 isn't that far off.
We are salt and light; as long as we remain here on this earth in the "church age". 1 Peter 4:17 states that judgment begins at the house of God and the intrusion of many damnable heresies in many churches today started with subtle deception ( Galatians 5:9). It is clear that God's people is a focus of where the enemy intrudes; we see this with colleges an religious studies; for example where the agenda is even more squewed towards leftist leanings there than in other studies. While we have seen in this nation and European ones in particular this attack plan; the enemy has caused more persecution and death than in all history from what some say in the 20th Century; no doubt continuing today. This tends to grow the church; however. That is a fair warning to those steeped in "Christian tradition" or a form of godliness denying the power ( 2 Tim. 3:5-7).
I disagree that there are no instructions in the scripture warning against this idolatry because that's exactly what it is and people need to understand that. This isn't some minor, little thing that doesn't matter. Do you trust God alone or do you believe He needs their help? They may not have graven images of their departed loved one but acknowledging them in any way that belongs to God is idolatry. Catholics say they don't worship statues and that is true, they worship the dead person the statue represents. The devil has lulled those who don't accept the doctrine of the Catholic Church of worshiping idols to do it in a more subtle way. They may not have graven images of their departed loved one but acknowledging them in any way that belongs to God is idolatry. Exodus 20: 1-4 and Dueteronomy 5:6-9, clearly command us to not worship anyone or anything but God. When a person is trusting their departed loved ones to help them or comfort them or protect them in some way, isnt that idolatry? Isn't that looking to a false God? Isn't that loving (worshiping) them more by wanting their help rather then God's help? It is diminishing their faith in God by asking a dead person for whatever instead of God. This is a serious mistake and, I believe, should be taught against. We need to witness to them with a gentle spirit to help them see how this is damaging their soul. If you dont agree this is idolatry, or is a serious soul matter, then please explain what it is and why it doesn't matter. Also see 1 Corinthians 10:14, Exodus 23:13, Isaiah 42:8a, Exodus 34:14. God Bless :)
It looks like the thread you addressed me on has been closed t further comment. So, I will respond with a new thread.
I am happy to bring Scriptures to this conversation. But before I do, please answer me yes or no: Are you Earl Bowman?
If you do not answer this question of mine with a yes or a no, then I will know that you are a deceiver.
As to your inquiry about Psalm 82:1-6 and Jesus' usage of this Psalm in John 10:35. The context of this verse in psalms is a reference to the judges of Israel that were appointed to make judgements for the people when they had a legal matter to bring forward to resolve.
God, in this Psalm is rebuking these judges (and any leader) because they judged sinfully. They favored those who oppressed and did wickedly and would not defend or uphold the cause of the widows, orphans, and poor, but instead made judgments against these who needed right judgements and mercy. God does not speak of them favorably in this psalm.
It does say that "ye are gods" and the meaning of this is not that they are truly gods, but those who sit in the place of the only true God when they pass their judgments. Therefore, the only True God expects them to judge with justice and righteouosness, but they did not. They judged sinfully, therefore, this iniquity proves that they are not truly gods.
The Bible speaks of gods as referring to those that pagans worship. Are these gods truly gods since Scripture calls them such?
Exodus 12:12 says that God will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. Are these gods real or idols/false gods?
Exodus 23:13 God says to not invoke the names of their (Israelites) other gods. Were these other gods truly gods or were they false gods/idols?
Joshua 24:14 God instructs Joshua to tell the Israelites to throw away the gods of their fathers. Were these gods truly gods or were they false gods/idols?
I could list many more Scriptures where God speaks of other gods, but it is clear they are not gods. Jer. 2:11 ...
Hello Tony. I think that that belief is assumed from Exodus 23:25, "And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee."
However, there are a couple of problems with that belief: the Promise by God to Israel was that they should only serve the One & Living God & not turn to idols (v24) & the 'taking away of sickness from among them', was not tied to God blessing their food & water, rather, to their serving the LORD & trusting only Him. Other than this verse, I can't recall any other verse that supports such a belief & it may be related to some other writing outside of God's Word.
Wes gave a wise answer on Christmas. Exodus 23:8, Deuteronomy 16:19, Ecclesiastes 7:7, may The HOLY Spirit teach us. John 14:26
I love to celebrate Christmas, I really enjoy the lights, the focus on our Savior. The generosity in the season. Christmas is a time of year, people remember more their fellow man, needs & wants of others. Christmas time reminds us of the joys of giving & putting smiles on others faces, teaching by love & kindnesses. Surprising a person with anonymous unexpected gifts, giving hope to people in desperation, food, clothing, volunteering, etc. warms their hearts, body & soul & sometimes gives them hope for a better ' tomorrow '. Christmas is the time of year people are more willing to receive from a Christian.....
We as Believers have an open door at Christmas unlike any other time of the year, to show the World who Jesus is, who the Church is.
When we remember those most "forgotten by others" showing them, they are not forgotten by GOD, it's amazing how even those around them are affected.
This Christmas season we really have a moment to help comfort, our nations with love, giving hope through the WORD, to poor in spirit & helping heal wounds. There is much we can give this year, for those in need. I pray GOD lead us even now, to start the giving season early. Romans 6:23, 2Corinthians 1:4, Proverbs 15:23,
The first fruits are to be brought into the house of the LORD; and not to cook a goat in its mother's milk. (Don't know if this is part of the sacrifice or not).
Verses 20-33 Speaks of the Promises of God's Presence for those who are obedient to Him. The Angel (capitalized) will go before them. (Is this Jesus?) and lead them in the way they are to travel. God warns the Israelites to fear the Angel and obey His voice.
They were not to provoke the Angel for He will not pardon their sins, for God's name is IN Him.
If the Israelites are obedient God will uphold them and keep them from being overthrown by enemies. God names the peoples they will encounter in the land of promise. God says, do not worship their gods! But instead, completely overthrow these people (and their gods) breaking down their sacred pillars (Asherah poles). Eliminating the images by destroying them will lesson the temptation to bow to them in worship.
God promises to bless them with fruitfulness and increase of the womb; with daily bread and a steady supply of water, (which they cried out for before coming to Sinai; taking away their sicknesses and preserving their health as a whole group.
He will confuse the people who come against the Israelites and send pests to drive them away from His people.
However, God says He will take time to drive them out gradually, to avoid the wild beasts having an opportunity to take over the vacated land and multiply to become a threat the people and to allow for the Israelites to grow in number and strength do they can inherit the land promised to them. This gradual takeover will test the Israelites' obedience and dependence on God alone.
They are not to make a covenant with these people nor their gods, for they will cause the Israelites to sin against God and ensnare them.
These people had never been to the promised land yet. They only knew Egypt. Trusting God was a tall order, but God would be with them. In difficult times He is with us, too
This chapter has several sections. Verses 1-13 speaks about fairness in the judicial process and in personal interactions. Be truthful, do not be a false witness in court against another, do not show partiality in court, whether the accused is rich or poor, or the plaintiff is rich or poor, do not follow the crowd when the crowd is advocating and practicing evil, do not pervert justice by testifying in such a way that interferes with due justice.
It goes on to say that we are to keep away from any false matter, do not side with what you know is false or spread false info, respect life and do not kill those who are innocent and righteous , defend these people when in danger. God warns those in power to judge, legislate, or govern to not take any bribes as buying influence perverts justice.
God goes on to say that we are not to oppress anyone, even strangers or foreigners.
God sets aside the seventh day and seventh year as a time of rest. 7th day rest from work, 7th year rest from sowing fields. Doing so allows man and beasts to rest up and renew energy for the coming week. Doing so allows nature to produce food for the poor and for the wild and domesticated animals.
Verse 13 is a change-Be circumspect-think about it!-do not even mention the name of other gods, do not speak it. We are to give no acknowledgment of the existence of these false gods.
Verses 14-19 discuss the three feasts God institutes for the nation of Israel-Unleavened Bread-to remember their meal before the passing over the Israelites in the plague of the death of the firstborn and of their flight in the night from Egypt; the Harvest-where they bring in the first fruits; and the Ingathering-where they harvest all of the fruit of their labors at the end of the growing year. Also, males are to appear before the LORD three times a year (assemble before the LORD for these Feasts?) not the women.
Old Testament law: Deuteronomy 16:16, Exodus 34:23,24, Deuteronomy 31:11, Exodus 23:17, the dates of calendars have changed even the Hebrew / Jewish calendars. Moses through GOD established the beginning of the year to be the Passover, no calendar today honors that. Exodus 12:2, Exodus 12, Numbers 28:16,
Jesus honored these things, along with His parents (on earth) Luke 2:22,23, Luke 2:41-49, John 4:45, John 5:1, John 10:22,23, even those who opposed Jesus expected Jesus to honor the appointed days : John 11:54-57, John 12, Even facing His own brutal death: Matthew 20:17,18 , Mark 10:32,33,34 do you think HE knew He was the Lamb,: Luke 2:38, Luke 18:31, that was going to be slain for Passover? Let's not forget all of the Old Testament either.
How would Jesus handle these things today? Remember John 2:15 "And when He had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money and overthrew the tables." & Luke 19,

King Solomon didn't ask for those earthy things, God rewarded him with them.
Here's scripture proof.
1 Kings 3:8-13. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
(-And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.-)
And as for the nation as a whole, When they walked in Gods ways and statutes he blessed them and gave them rest.
Exodus 23:25-27. And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.
I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.

Precious friend, Allen, for the "weekly" sabbath, see: Exodus 23:12; Exodus 31:15; Exodus 34:21; Exodus 35:2; and, Leviticus 23:3, TO the nation of ISRAEL, but not to us Gentiles.
For the "yearly" sabbath, a "sabbath expert" will have to tell you; I do not know.

Please refer back to why Jesus suffered = Matthew 12:14, John 7:1, Matthew 12:1-13, because he healed on the Sabbath?
John 7:7 "The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil" John 8:44, Matthew 22:29,
Jesus corrected & rebuked the leaders in the religious sects & ignored their contradictory "mandates" even washing of hands.
HE disobeyed those in Governmental authority, because they were corrupt. Matthew 27:12,13,14, John 19:11, obeying GOD ALMIGHTY.
If you're referring to Our GOD Blessed Country USA. This website is global. The USA did not get the religious freedom it has by obedience to oppressive Gov. Please read the US Declaration of Independence & refer back to another scripture, 1Peter 2:14, Our "public servants" have not punished evildoers, but have actually committed Treasonous acts, putting Citizens in danger. We have a Duty given by our GOD to uphold law, order, safety of our people & protecting our freedoms. As Established within that document. Proverbs 31:9,
If you haven't noticed the chaos in the world after the falsified Election of 2020, please look & understand we affect the World for good, when we are strong, stable & blessing & helping other nations.

And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
God bless.

Little by Little
Little by little, the Jews went to the promised land.
They were all safe in the masters hand's.
Little by little they took ground.
The walls of Jericho fell with a glorious sound.
Little by little he works inside of me.
When we walk with him he sets us free.
Two steps forward one step back.
Little by little with Jesus were right on track.
Little by little as water falls on the earth.
It shapes, and molds, and gives life birth.
Little by little we give our prayers to heaven.
They come back down we grow as leaven.
When you stumble ,and fall down.
Think of the rain, and reach for the crown.
Little by little our prayers reach above.
Step by step we grow with the fathers love.
Little by little he works inside of me.
Little by little I am set free.
The path moves forward two steps at a time.
On a journey to heaven, and the sublime.
Little by little my head is like solid rock.
Little prayers begin to shape my thoughts.
Little by little the spirit grows inside of me.
Because of Jesus I am set free.
Sometimes we have to work at "unlearning" what someone tells us the Bible says. GOD's WORD is a "living Word" it teaches, corrects, edifies._.. 2 Timothy 3:16, & gives us wisdom. James 1:5,
Genesis 34, is the account. Notice : Genesis 34:2, they were Hivite
Exodus 23:28, Exodus 34:11, Exodus 33:2, Genesis 10:15-19, Joshua 9,
Hopefully this is all helpful.
Thank you "GiGi" for pointing out her approximate age through scriptural knowledge. Genesis 30:19-31, Genesis 31:38-41,
Genesis 33:13-17, it says after they met Esau, they built a house & booths for cattle it doesn't say exactly how long they were there. It appears they may have left when Joseph was about 6 yrs. old because Genesis 31:41, But it was before Joseph was 17, Dinah seems to be older sister, they then pitched a tent._ Genesis 33:18-20 The only accounts of age we're given is Joseph was born & Genesis 30:25, Genesis 37:1-2, yet Joseph went to find his brethren in (Shechem) so was this timing, a historical account putting both situations about the same time? Genesis 37:11-14, because later Israel/Jacob tells Joseph about his mother's death & burial, that happened on Journey Genesis 35:1, Genesis 35:15-20, Genesis 35:27-29, Genesis 48:1-7, Genesis 45:25, Genesis 46:6,
