    On verses 13 and 24:
    1. The fig tree represents the nation of Israel;
    2. Jesus saw it afar off like when people view religion, but when a person takes the time to investigate religion closely they begin to see it for what it is (false Christianity). The leaves represent religion that is drenched in the law and dressed in the unbiblical traditions of men ( Colossians 2:8). True spiritual fruit ( Matthew 7:16) comes from the grace of our lord Jesus Christ working through us, after being born again ( Galatians 5:22-26). Of course Jesus did what he always does to nations, denominations, and individuals that are trying to produce heavenly fruits through fleshly seeds, he places an ichabod curse on that unfruitful religious situation.

    It is by the Spirit of Almighty God and Jesus Christ our Lord that belivers can walk in His Spirit. Man's efforts can never achieve this commandment, no matter how much he strives to achieve that. Without Christ, it is impossible.

    To me this is one of the best verses for us CHRISTIANS to have in our memory. Sad my memory isn't as good as it used to be, but I go back to this verse very often to keep myself reminded of one of the ways to honour my LORD in my daily walk. I LOVE all scripture that gives me instructions on how to live for my LORD AND Saviour JESUS CHRIST. PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME.

    @Dales,
    The principle is that ‘’the gifts and calling of God are without repentance’’ Romans 11:29. Therefore it is our duty to strive to meet the marks, because God’s calling is abiding.
    So when God calls somebody or gives duty to that one, God never dismiss that one before the person disqualifies by him/herself, like it happened with Saul in 1 Samuel 15:11. Yet if the person comes back to God, God will receive him/her, which unfortunately never happened with Saul.
    Now coming to commandments, there have been situations when God rescued the people that were gone astray, in tolerating some practices, just to give them opportunity to upgrade. Like Jesus Christ said: ‘’Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so’’. Matthew 19:8. God through Moses has tolerated divorcement, because of people’s unbelief.
    God bless you.

    Has God or Christ, ever had to retract a Command or a particular Action of Authority ; and to whom and of what action was this done???
  • Phindile on Genesis 17 - 12 years ago
    Darby T, Galatians 5:6 says if you are trying to be justified by flesh that has been alienated from Christ, you have fallen away from grace, circumcised or not doesn't matter to God, but a new creation in Christ, so is the heart that needs circumcision to curb its filthyness that separates us from the grace of Jesus.

    The above quote is most important in our days as people of the MOST HIGH GOD. It is not only a free gift from God, but also a must have for all believers in this century. It is the reality of the pomegranates that God made Moses command the craftsmen to weaving together with a bell in Aaron's garment according to exodus 28 :33

    Why is the word "murders" (phonos) in the King James Version, but is not found in the NIV and New American Standard, etc.?

    The book of Galatians 5 tells us about how to walk in the spirit so we can bear the fruits of the spirit. Thanks

    The Bible says be angry and sin not, but it also says deal with each other in love. So even in the depths of our anger we should still learn to keep a balance because we all lose if we allow our anger to rule our actions or reactions to each other.

    I think paul was very stong in faith becouse Jesus Christ was his rock and foundation in life,we need to do the same eat the word of God more and more each day, so we can have power with in our self to be the light in this world ...God bless you all brothers in sisters in Christ our Lord.
  • MMosley on Galatians 5 - 12 years ago
    I believe this chapter speaks to the saints who have fallen away from the faith because of an event or person (Leaven.) God reminds us to be standfast in the faith. God wants us to crucify the flesh and Walk/Live in the SPIRIT to build up others.
  • Chrisian39 on Galatians 5 - 12 years ago
    When the Bible speaks off circumcision it is talking about the heart, not the foreskin of a man.That was only done to repesent the covanant that GOD had with Abraham. Salvation comes from believing JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOR, that HE died on the cross, was born of a virgin, and that HE is the only begotten SON of the LIVING GOD.

  • Heb11_1 on Galatians 5 - 13 years ago
    @cerbits 1 Corinthians 7:19 explains that the physical circumcision or non-circumcision is unimportant. Being circumcized physically is not a sin, and therefore should not be undone.
  • Heb11_1 on Galatians 5:9 - 13 years ago
    The "leaven" that is spoken of is not any one thing. It's influence of any kind. A little kindness can stop someone from suicide while a little hatred can ruin lives. Everyone influences someone somehow. Make a concious effort to use that influence; your peers and other people within your social realm notice you and what you do.

    I really love this scripture. as a young man so many times it is hard not to give in to the flesh. but just to think that when you kill yourself in the spiritual you are HIS. and not only that but verse one is one of my favorite verses. BE NOT ENTANGLED AGAIN IN THE YOKE OF BONDAGE.

    I like this chapter because it helps you to see the dominate character in you thru the sins of the flesh and the fruits of the spirit, compare your self up with the definitions.

    Is it OK to surmise a little? A tree seems to be a natural structure that bears fruit (desirable outcome). The two trees that are named seem abstract from what we normally think of as trees. Maybe, some of the other trees were also symbolic. In Galatians 5:22, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, and more. Might there have been a tree of love etc. in the garden of Eden? God commanded them not to eat (partake) of the tree of knowing (experiencing) both good and evil. It does seem that God had already offered them every good that he created for them to have, so I don't know why He would now forbid kmowing good along with evil. This test seems to continue even today. In Deut. 30:19, God says, "I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live". In all areas of life, God wants us to have the ultimat of good, not trouble and misery. Jesus came that we could have life in abundance ( Jn. 10:10). It is an enemy that is intent to kill, steal, and destroy, as with Eve. Lets be fully devoted to the good shepherd.
