PG 1: Hi anonymous, the wages of sin is death, and eternally separated from God: Romans 5:12. Wherefore, as by one man entered the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all has sinned... Romans 5:19, For by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one "Christ" shall many be made righteous. In Genesis 3:21, God made coats of skins to clothed Adam and Eve, rejecting them attempting to clothed themselves, in which he made an atonement for their transgression pointing to a future sacrifice lamb "Christ" that would take away the sins of the world. In Genesis 12:3, God tells Abraham in him all the families of the earth shall be blessed, In Genesis 15:1-6, God promise Abraham a son "Isaac" through which his seed be called, "AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED" In Genesis 15:8-17 God puts Abraham to sleep to perform an unconditional covenant with him, Which depends on Gods promise not Abraham efforts. In Genesis 16:1-4, Abraham and Sarah decided to assist God in his promise and decided to parent a child through Sarah's handmaid and bared him a son Ismael, Genesis 17:18-21, God rejects Ismael as the covenant child, "Heir" according to the promise.
An Egyptian slave, Hagar encountered God in the desert and addressed him as El Roi, "the God who sees me." Notably, this is the only occurrence of El Roi in the Bible.
Hagar's God is the One who numbers the hairs on our heads and who knows our circumstances, past, present, and future. When you pray to El Roi, you are praying to the one who knows everything about you.
She [Hagar] gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen the One who sees me." That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi [the"well of the Living One who sees me"]. ( Genesis 16:13-14)
PROMISES ASSOCIATED WITH GOD'S NAME
Even the most watchful parent has to sleep. But Scripture makes it clear God never slumbers, never looks one way while we head off in another, never misses a millisecond of what is happening on earth. It also assures us God is on the lookout for men and women who are totally committed to him. Why? Because he wants to strengthen their hearts as they serve him. If you are feeling weak in the face of life's challenges, the best way to grow strong is to strengthen your commitment to Christ. Decide to obey fully, to follow completely, to keep your eyes fastened on him. Let El Roi take pleasure as he watches over you, and you will soon find your heart stronger and your confidence deeper without quite knowing how it happened.
The Torah and the Bible have recorded Gods dealings with Abraham, Sarah; Hagar; Ishmael and Isaac.
In the King James Version of the Bible: chapters 16-21 are recorded the covenants and the blessings on Abraham's seed: Isaac and Ishmael.
Ishmael: see Genesis 17:18-26, 17:24-26
Genesis 16:11-16, Genesis 21:12-18
The Covenant of the Land of Canaan (Israel)
Genesis 17:7-8
God never meant for history to have experienced all the wars fought in the Middle East. He made Covenants with both of Abraham's sons. Through Ishmael was gained wealth, lands, commerce with powerful princes and kings descended through Abraham.
God had already decided to bless the son born between Abraham and Sarah, even before Ishmael was born. In Gods permissive will, He allowed it; and later gave a covenant inheritance to Ishmael.
Gods Perfect Will was continued through Isaac and his descendants.
He's God. We don't get to tell Him how to bless his people. The Bible says of God: I change NOT.
God chose every human being that was directly involved in producing THE MESSIAH, that would save all mankind that would receive Him.
This is all going to bring everyone on earth, to the Book of Revelation. I know, not everyone accepts it, but it's still there like a gigantic signpost at the end of this road we're all on. It's not going away. Even if we burn all the books and launch all the nukes; it will still be there. That is not me talking; it is the words of the Bible; carried and protected, throughout history. Also known as the Dead Sea scrolls.
Jesus was, and is the Messiah. He wants all sons and daughters of Abraham's seed to trust their mortal and eternal lives with the promised Messiah. All must have their names recorded in his Book of Life. (Read Revelation)
Having done an impromptu review just now; the chapter does imply blessings to Hagar & Sarai as equals, but not first equals. That said, The Ishmaelites that have read this and act in a responsible, loving way, divinely decreed manner, should
be heirs to the promises made to Abraham, Isaac, AND Ishmael .
Christ was there before, during, and after this episode and will be coming back to redeem ALL who are worthy .
Sarai gave Hagar to Abram for a wife so they could have a child by surrogacy. A great honour for Hagar being the second wife of a great Chieftain. Impatience though and not waiting for Gods promise would have lasting problems but the merciful God blessed the boy anyway and made him into the mighty Arab nation. Unfortunately modern Arabs are abandoning the God of Ishmael for the god of Mohammad. Salvation through Jesus was meant for them as well but many have chosen another religion which will take them nowhere and violently.
J D Kazar I would think that you must give thought to the times and place this event took place also of the persons especially Abraham whom is given much Honor for his Faith among other honors from our GOD. To call that event rape in my mind is a gross assumption and I'd be careful about throwing slanderious accusations around about someone whom GOD has bestowed such high honor upon. For we all must give an account of every word that comes out of us. I would suggest you give some more thought to your conclusion in your prayers for your own sake. In JESUS name may you receive this in Love.
Hagar is called a maid or handmaid. 16.1,16.2 etc. in 16.3 "Sarah gave Hagar to her husband Abraham". I submit that if someone can give you to someone else you are a slave. Then Abraham proceeds to rape Hagar and impregnate her. When Sarah got angry, at Hagar!, over this although Hagar clearly had no say Abraham says she's yours do what you want to her 16.3. Lovely people
this is a good lesson, and to apply to our lives, prayer lives, intercessory prayer for others. The only wisdom is that which comes from above. i know what it's like to go out without the counsel of the Lord, and i usually regret it!
Really. It is true. When God' favour is upon us, we need not despise other people because God can remove that fovour from us. but because He is a mercyfull God, He didn't do that to Hagar.
We also need to wait upon the Lord and be still before Him.
"..And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face...And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands." Sarai was right to punish her and "deal hardly" with her: Hagar did wrong toward her Mistress when she arrogantly despised her. God's will for all of us is to be right and do right to each other by accepting rebukes and corrections.
Verse 4: Hagar began to show disrespect towards Sarah. When we receive a privilege or good happens to us, we want to continue to show respect to other people and not look down on anyone.
yes sometimes we do things without thinking an waiting on GOD to bring us out, then when reality hits us we want to cry out to the LORD for help when we was to listen to HIS voice, yes i done somethings i wish i can go back an erase but i just ask my GOD for forgiveness an turn away from the sin i committed.am so glad that HE dont give us what our deserve for our sins, AMEN.
