God bless you all and Ar do not stop praying if what you heard was truly from God which I 'm not denying. I feel that America is one abominable nation promoting lust, earthly desires, spiritually wickedness in high places Ephesian 6 12 , promotion of false religions, attacking Christian faith and promotion of other ways, false mistranslated Bible versions. Yet I believe America has not been destroyed yet because of the few righteous, pray pray pray and trust in the LORD for he will make everything done in righteous according to his will and this truth will shine through in the end.

I love your statement it had to be Jesus who stood at the door of the tent the same happen in Moses days when everyone was complaiting and god spoke to Moses and said gather your people around the mount and see that no one touch for in the same hour ye touch you shall die and God spake His voice was so powerfull they feared His voice and repented and told Moses they would hear him the second time is when the three Angels came to destroy Sodom and gomorrah one was liken to the god

This is a very comforting verse to consider when we are going through hard times and may see no way out. Nothing is to great for Jehovah to handle or take care of. Things that may seem impossible from a human standpoint are not impossible for Jehovah.
  • Brianna on Genesis 18:4 - 11 years ago
Isn't this just a wonderful example in Hospitality. Abraham certaintly was a man of God, extending kindness to these individuals. God certaintly wants humans to take care of eachother. So, I personally want to look for more ways to show hospitality to my brothers and neighbors in my community.

Angels are always given one job to perform. There were 3 so what were their jobs?
    1. The destruction of S'dom.
    2. The destruction of Amorah
    3. The recuperation of Abraham
G-d was standing at the entrance to Abraham's tent, where we read, that he turns to G-d and politely requests that the Lord not abandon him, as he had to go quickly and receive the 3 guests.
  • Mprince on Genesis 18 - 11 years ago
According to the first three verses the Lord was one of the three men, and it may be safe to assume the other two were angels. Genesis 18:1-3
    1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:

Who were those 3 men that had visited Abraham?
Were they all angels or one of them was God?
  • Jeyasingh Samuel Rivington on Genesis 18:1 - 11 years ago
We must understand that JEHOVAH(LORD)is the 'SON OF MAN'& for and through him all things are created (Col:1:15,16). He is the care taker of all his creations.('Prajapathi' in Sanscrit language. which means he is all in all for human race). It was not GOD appeared to Abraham since no one can see HIM ( John 1:18,1 Timothy 6:15,16). But the 'SON OF MAN'(JEHOVAH or LORD) who came out of GOD, and He is the God of Israel. Hence,it is no wonder that LORD appeared to Abraham.

"Sarah", looking at her age, doubted to be pregnant, the Bible said that she laughed... Meaning that.... ''can it be'', she must have forgotten that God is the omnipotent (The one who has the ability to accomplish His will). At the appointed time.

Hi Harold, you have to decide what you want to do, for me if God said then I have to obey.
But having said that, Paul rebuked Peter in the book of Galatians chapter 2 about wanting to force some believer to circumcise, and chapter 3: 26-29 also emphersize this. I hope this is helpful to you.

I think the verse is very helpful in times.of challenges that the world does not offer solutions to. The problems that people declare impossible, incurable diseases etc we should always know that with God everything is possible n quiet easier.

Had Abraham left those men to p***ed away d prophecy won't have come to p*** ... Therefore let us give ourself out for going at all time though, at times it might seen foolish bt press on there is a reward . Also d Lord said at d appointed time , that means there is a time set for each and every one of us to do exploit ... So let stay and wach for that time .

God has designed and prepared a way of escape for every person, ever born. Genesis 18:14 God asks humanity," Is there anything too hard for God?" When we modernize this verse, is there anything too great to expect from His Truth, His Power, or even His Love? God is EVER-READY to save any soul that's willing to yield (humbly believe) to His Holy Word.

My niece, Jillian, passed away at the tender age of 20 years old seven years ago. At the service I remember praying for her, crying out to go to be merciful and asking him if it be possible that she be with him in heaven. He spoke to me and his response was very clear... Shall not the Judge of all the earth do that which is right? At the time I was not sure exactly where I had read that but later I learned that those were the very words spoken to Abraham. I shall never forget that moment and be amazed at how the Lord answers our prayers if only we will stop and listen.

There are many revelations contained in the chapter.
Some of them are as follows:
    1. God sees what man cannot see. He knows the heart of every man.He knew the thoughts of Sarah
    2. He is always ready to bless the Righteous.Every delayed blessing always culminate into terrific blessings.
    3. There is nothing impossible for him to create, resolve or sort out.
    4. He reveals secrets to the Righteous
    5. He loves and blesses Men who take or will take care of their members of their Household.

    @ Lucy,

Well I'm not sure exaclty what and where YOU were reading, but God has indeed left his throne at LEAST once. I seem to remember him showing someone his hinder parts , "For no man can look at my face an yet live..." or something to that degree...Moses ring a bell?
  • Timothy Wayne George on Genesis 18 - 13 years ago
Genesis 18 gives us the example to follow since God is the Judge of all the earth, and will do what is right. God knows how many righteous people there are in Sodom and Gomorrah. God wants Abraham to intercede for Lot. God sends the Angels as men to investigate the wickedness of these cities. God is proving to Abraham that he is just and will not destroy the righteous with the wicked. This is proof to us today that the Church will not go through the tribulation. Just as Abraham interceded for Lot, we too should intercede for our love ones to be saved from the tribulation and hell. God is not willing that any should perish, but that all will come to repentance. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life no one comes to the Father but by him.
  • I. Roger Childryn, Sr. on Genesis 18 - 13 years ago

RN Frey. There was no reference as to a time frame as to which the meal was prepared. Only that to Sarah, in which she was to knead and prepare bread on the hearth.
