28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is REVEALED. (Which of son of man is revealed? Since Moses there were several sons of man sent by our GOD as His messenger, and JESUS as GOD was the last sent around 2000 years ago)
JESUS my Lord made reference to the days of Lot and the city of Sodom to highlight and emphasize the destruction planned by GOD of the city of Sodom and neighboring cities. JESUS wanted to warn this current generation of believers in Him, how the Devil's current world will be punished and destroyed by GOD now, in this current time, even now, from now on( Revelation 11:15-18, mainly verse 18, combined with Isaiah 26:20-21.Take a look). By the Word of GOD(the Word is GOD, is the Power)Sodom and region as a whole was destroyed. By the way, GOD sent only two men to destroy Sodom and neighboring cities- Genesis 19:12-17, as GOD had spoken to Abraham, who interceded for the righteous of Sodom before GOD, unfortunately there were not found 10 righteous.
And now? The Word of GOD, the Power, is the same, so how many men will GOD send to destroy the World of Devil by the same Word, by the same Power, as He made in Sodom and neighboring cities, as was said by my Lord JESUS as example of destruction made by GOD? Yes, how many? Two or one? The Word is GOD, GOD Himself, self-executing, understand? By the way, the dismantling or destruction of all the structures of the Devil's world has already begun in this pre-tribulational period of sorows- Matthew 24:3-8- , the worst comes imediately after the end of the period of sorrows.
What my Lord JESUS said is that ' they which shall be accounted WORTHY to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels (Example: Genesis 19:1-4. Take a look); and are the children of GOD, being the children of the resurrection.
And Paul Apostle revealed: Philippians 3:20-21:
20 For our conversation is in heaven(heaven? Ephesians 1:3-8. Take a look. Are you in heaven or not? Or you don't know?); from whence also WE LOOK for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall CHANGE OUR VILE BOVY(this is not a magic, this is a process, it is(will be) worked) that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to the WORKING whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto Himself.
And Paul said more: 1 Corinthians 15:24-27 and 51-55:
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the Kingdom to GOD( Revelation 11:15-18), even the Father; when he shall have PUT DOWN ALL RULE AND ALL AUTHORITY and POWER.
25 For JESUS must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
51 Behold, I shew you a MYSTERY; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all BE CHANGED, (not by magic, but a process)
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye (in the last seven years of the world of Devil- Revelation 11:15 and 18.Take a look), at the last Trump ( 1Thessalonians 4:16 combined with Daniel 12:1-3.Take a look):for the Trumpet shall sound( Revelation 11:15) and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
Hi Cheryl1655. What you have asked does seem confusing to most casual readers of the Bible. But there are two possible explanations so as to understand a little better about Lot's daughters.
a. It is possible that Lot had four daughters: two were still living at home with their parents ( Genesis 19:12, when the angels asked Lot if he had any other 'family' besides those they could see there with him; and Genesis 19:15, the angels urged Lot to quickly bring out his wife & his two daughters WHICH ARE HERE, i.e. present in the house with them). So, maybe from these verses we can assume that Lot had four daughters: two virgins living with him & two living with their husbands, & these could have perished with their husbands because of their refusal to leave Sodom.
b. The other possibility is that Lot only had two daughters, but they were not married to their (future) husbands, but were betrothed to them. As you probably know, that in those days & in that culture, when two people were bethrothed (engaged) to each other, they were considered as a married couple, only because of the binding commitment that such an engagement required, & not by actually living & sleeping together. We can remember the account of Joseph & Mary ( Matthew 1:18,19) where Joseph's espousal to Mary was considered as a marriage, though they didn't live together, yet, Joseph was still intending to "put away" (divorce) Mary for her supposed infidelity. But the Angel of the Lord intervened quick smart to stop him acting foolishly.
You can examine these options before you & decide for yourself. My leaning is to the latter, of Job having only two daughters, betrothed to men, but choosing to leave them in preference to what the Angel had warned them concerning God's Wrath over the city.
In assessing Lot's narrow escape from Sodom; the patience of God is unmistakeable. The angels put up with the hemming and hawing in Lot's pathetic request to go to a closer town rather than far away in the mountains to escape (see Genesis 19:20). In the end he ends up fleeing further once he sees the destruction.
REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE. I highly recommend the tract by Chapel Library on this topic with this title. ( Genesis 19:26). I cannot ultimately prove that Lot's wife was lost in her curiousity to look back but it certainly cost her her life. We are reminded; of course of the verse in Luke 9:62 of he who looks back once he has put his hand to the plough not being suitable for the Kingdom of God.
It would seem that Lot's wife couldn't have been alongside him and turned to a pillar of salt the same distance away from the destruction. It would seem she lagged some distance behind OR stood still quite a while when Lot continued on before this happened. Anyway; the tract I mentioned shows her priviledge in being in a home where someone read God's word and believed. I would say that it was probably much compromised what Lot was actually teaching as head of the household not to mention what his daughters knew scripturally. She was nonetheless without excuse; if we look at Rahab "the harlot" and her commendation saving the spies and preservation of life and listed in Hebrews 11 as an example of faith ( Hebrews 11:31) she was commended and actually part of the lineage of Christ eventually. Being OBEDIENT at such a time requires true faith; and Lot's wife clearly was more enamored with the world in this case than a pagan prostitute because of the ACTIONS demonstrating faith or lack thereof. This is why works ARE important. In all this we can't ignore Abraham's pleading to God in Gen. 18:32; clearly he had Lot in mind and his family to be the rightous who would escape. His sons in law ended up being wicked.
2 Peter states in verses 7-9: 7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
Taking a view of Lot's life from the beginning; we see a stark contrast on his mindset from that of Abraham. They were apparently related to each other but the decision of Lot to go the fertile plain as opposed to Abraham's decision to be in the desert area as a nomad shows several things. First of all; despite the fact that they had som many possessions that they needed more space; continuing to remain wealthy must have been a greater factor for Lot. It is not known how much he was aware of the wickedness of the inhabitants of Sodom initiallly. Clearly though (as my next point) these verses show that he was greatly disturbed by it. Thirdly; however in seeing the story of his narrow escape he was willing to sacrifice his daughters in order to appease the wicked crowd attempting to attack the angelic visitors. This was clearly no place to remain in raising a family; hence the men who were pladged to marry his daughters were not sincere and didn't heed God's warning. I would surmise that likely they were the ONLY ones not Sodomites in the area hence very low standards were adhered to in finding suitable husbands. Hence that contributed to their attitude in Genesis 19:31 where they decided it was better to get their father drunk and sleep with him to have children than not since they felt no other men on earth were available for such a task. It was likely that they assumed all men left were of that persuasion that remained on the entire planet.
In the end Lot was so compromised only God could probably recognize he was truly saved.
I don't think you will find it worded the way you worded it in your post with the actual word "Immediately".
But salvation is immediate when one truly believes and throughout the scripture it teaches that.
Actually in your original post you mentioned "some saying this before judgment".
I believe in your past posts you believes no one knows they're saved until Judgment.
The response from most of us is that a Christian is not part of that Judgment.
However we won't get into that here.
Here's what I will like to declare yo you.
I honestly believe there has been verses given that declares what you are looking for. And the Bible as a whole speaks on this aspect.
God spoke also in types that speaks on this.
Here's a few examples;
When God destroyed Sodom, When was lot saved?
When he left?
To answer that we would have to ask, When was he declared righteous.
God told Abraham he wouldn't destroy it if he found so many righteous. But do you notice the Angels wouldn't do anything until Lot was out of there!!
Genesis 19:21-22.
So was Lot saved before or after Judgment?
Let's look at Noah's Ark in the same light. When was Noah declared righteous?
When the Ark doors opened and closed or when God told him to start building it? Genesis 6:8. (The ark is a type.)
Adam, Galatians 4:28 says "Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
When we look at the story of Abraham getting ready to offer up Isaac as a sacrifice, If you study that carefully you'll see Abraham had faith before he started his journey! In Genesis 22:7-8 Isaac asked Abraham where is the Lamb for the burnt offering?
Abraham said, God will provide himself a burt offering!!
Abraham knew Isaac was the Child God promised would be his heir and he would have to raise him from the dead.
We're children of promise also!
By faith we're joint heirs of the promise with Abraham. God keeps his covenants and promises.
I pray you are having a good day, Cheryl. This is a very good question and a great concern. The interesting thing about the Sons of God it is clear that these beings are what are normally described as Angels in the Bible. When the Angels take on the form of Humans they appear to be able to obtain their anatomy and internal structures. Such as the time when the Angels came to visit Lot and his family they ate with them Genesis 19:3. In order to eat it would take more for them than just taking on the form of a human. So I am sure that they must also possess the reproductive system if they possessed the immune system. Jesus was a different occasion He had to be born human in order for His sacrifice to be valid. He had to be born of spirit so that the corruption of man could not seep in yet at the same time be human because blood had to be shed to signify the sacrifice. God doesnt bleed so human blood was needed. What was miraculous about the conception of Jesus Christ was the fact He could be born with no man involved. But there is nothing in the scriptures stating Him to be the firstborn of the spirit and flesh. Jesus was 100% God and 100% man all at the same time, however, the results of the Nephilim were spirit and flesh due to their forbidden nature (hence the name Nephilim which means The Fallen ones (from the Hebrew naphal, "to fall")) they where never meant to be, but because God allows the free will of man to dictate what goes on in the earth they happened. This resulted in their deformed states. They were the best-looking creatures. They were exceedingly great in stature and power though and they, of course, being birthed from evil were diabolical. And their wickedness leads to the flood of the earth. Yes, there was a level of free will used in the demise of the people of that day. But the people of that day had barely a say in what occurred. So the Lord had mercy on them and the Lord preached to the spirits of those people. God always supplies grace.
"The GOD", in Old Testament, Exodus 3:6, is "elohiym" same word for Genesis 1, Genesis 9,
In Genesis 7, 'and the LORD' is "Yhvh" & Genesis 6,
You can click each scripture to read the translation words & click that into deeper study of words, for each name of GOD.
1John 4, 1John 4:16 ... 'GOD is love' ... Is translated from the Greek, "theos esti agape"
Yes, I believe in both situations it was a loving GOD that protected & stopped the wickedness, cruelty, etc.notice, Genesis 6:5, Genesis 18, Genesis 18:20,21,25,32, Genesis 19:4,9,
That question may always remain a mystery to us, though I'm sure the name, 'Essenes' might come up often in your travels in that area. All the best Gregory, as you excitedly embark on this very memorable journey - hope it will turn out to be everything you hoped & planned for.
Just curious as they say they are not sure who wrote the scrolls and...just a thought.
By His Grace I will be with Maranatha Tours from October 30th thru November 9th from Dan To Beersheba. We are scheduled to see the caves where The Dead Sea Scrolls were found and time permitting, (we will) go to where the Fire and Brimstone came down.
I don't believe these caves are the same, Gregory. We do know the location of the Qumran caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found as there is an established site & national park there, but of the exact location of the cave where Lot & his daughters dwelt none can be sure, but the best theory around, I've given below.
The Qumran caves are located approximately NW of the Dead Sea, whereas Sodom & Gomorrah were presumed to be located to the South of the Dead Sea on the eastern flank (Sodom, in the area of ancient Zoar, was located some miles above Gomorrah). So when Lot fled Sodom, he & his daughters would have headed further east to find the cave, and from there he would have looked across to Sodom & south to Gomorrah, seeing the cities and the plain going "up as the smoke of a furnace" ( Genesis 19:28). I'm sorry that this information is the best I could find & certainly not meant to be definitive.

Hi Ken. What you read in Genesis 19:5, is what we would term a euphemism, i.e. a word or phrase that softens the actual wording which may sound harsh to some. So when the men of Sodom came to Lot's door wanting the two visitors to be brought out so "they might know them", means, that these Sodomites (young & old) were of homosexual bent & wanted to sexually engage with these visitors. Such was the condition of that city, given to all manner of evil & not just homosexuality, which necessitated the outpouring of the Anger of the LORD upon them.
In those days there was no king in Israel , everyone did what was right in his own eyes , this isn't talking about the likes of David or Saul etc , this is referring to God I believe , He wasn't King in Israel's heart , that why there was so much craziness , a bit like now .
The Book of Deuteronomy chapter 11 is the one I was remembering. It has all the verses about parents teaching their children the Bible.
A lot of people ask about Lot and what he allowed to happen. I wonder why.
This might be one to add to the new site for numerous posts on a subject. I have a folder in notes, called People of the Bible. Might be a good topic on the KJV room :D
Question #1-It is entirely possible that Lot knew that there weren't any men who were actually interested in women anymore; hence it was either a stalling tactic or meant to show some sort of accommodation in order to save his own life or perhaps keep the son in laws from being attacked. We shouldn't forget Lot's original desire to go the fertile valley which was visually appealing. Clearly; the men were called in because Lot was familiar with this type of behavior; perhaps he had tried this before.
It is obvious for the sake of his own family he should have left there a long time before that; and more so since Abraham would have been there to support him if necessary. It also should be noted that Lot's wife isn't mentioned in this account which seems odd as well. We need to keep in mind how it is stated that Lot was "vexed with the evil" ( 2 Peter 2:7-8). He chose apparently not to speak out so the world's riches for a time had paralyzed him. (also answers question #2).
Question #3-Actually; it was the other way around; his son in laws acted like he was mocking them; they took it lightly. They were probably too comfortable there as well; certainly they didn't harbor a fear of the Lord as THEY were not mentioned either as trying to stop the mob; clearly something was amiss there.
Question #4. The other comment is good with reasoning and scriptures. We need to remember; that first of all these women had lost eligible men which likely took quite some time to find; and they may have thought the whole world was destroyed. They wanted children; without which at that time would make them sense they lost all value. It was also before Moses laws on marriage or relations with family and his wife was dead. Perhaps they thought almost all men had no interest in women anymore as well; living there. Not excusing it; but fear was their primary thought; not illicit sex for the fun of it.
Lots greed made him leave Abraham his uncle and a man of God. His greed made him do business with Sodom and eventually move there. He was a man of means and had some authority. He lived there for many years and raised and married off some daughters,no boys, but still had two girls at home. His wife almost certainly was from Sodom and grew up there. He apparently never witnessed to his family and he did not live a clean life hence his son in laws mocked him. The two girls grew up in the filth of Sodom and their morals were non existent. I suspect he wanted to leave but the wife would have none of it, she probably had all her family there. The reason I say that is Hebrews said it vexed his righteous soul being there. Also, keep in mind I think he rarely kept in touch with Abraham.
LOTS MISTAKE REARING HIS DAUGHTERS_Gen.18 - In Reply on Genesis 19 - 2 years ago
I don't believe it's an oversight that God did not tell us the names of Lot's two daughters. Their story is inextricably linked to their father's actions and has implications not only for young people who find themselves in difficult situations, but a warning to every parent. It's a sad story in many ways, but also reveals God's merciful and redemptive character. We don't know their names because they could be any of us, were we to find ourselves in the similar circumstances.
[Don't Underestimate the Power of a Sinful Environment to Sear the Conscience]
In our modern culture, we are quick to judge these two young women and assure ourselves we would never resort to such desperate actions. We would be wise to learn from their experience.
Lot's daughters had grown up in a city where sexual immorality was commonly accepted. They were engaged to young men who scoffed at God's warning. God told Abraham, "The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave" ( Genesis 18:20). Apparently, there were not even ten righteous people in the city. Being surrounded by such influences had obviously seared the consciences of these two women; their idea to have sexual relations with their father seemed a logical and acceptable solution.
Left to ourselves, the human heart is deceitful and desperately wicked ( Jeremiah 17:9). Without the restraining and redeeming influence of God's Word and His Holy Spirit, we can't imagine the depths of sin to which we might go. Lot had failed to teach his daughters the truth about who God is; they were simply acting in accordance with the lifestyle and knowledge they had been given.
Titus 1:14 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
Continuing with this next chapter, Mukula, I will share some thoughts.
In Numbers chapter 22, we're reminded that this is the same God Who had to earlier deal with His children, Israel, to teach them to fear & obey Him (as we saw in Numbers chapter 21). Here, we can learn the lesson that God is not limited in His resources which can prevail upon all men; even to non-Israelites, God can bring forth His Word & put into effect His Plan. So also Gentiles can learn who this God of Israel is & that they too must fear Him.
The two main stars in this chapter (not including the ass) are Balaam (a non-Israelite seer) & Balak (a Gentile King of Moab: related to Lot & his eldest daughter: Genesis 19:31-38). Somehow Balaam knew of the True God, even though he was a Gentile living in N. Mesopotamia. He seemed to be a successful 'prophet' of some repute, & maybe in this instance sought after God because the children of God (Israel) were involved, poised against Moab. Balaam eventually learned his lesson the painful way, not to fool with God & try to change His Mind. So Baalam at least acknowledged his sin (22:34).
God picked Israel to be His peculiar people and shower His love on them. We don't know why now, but someday we will know. He asks us to pray for them and we do. We don't know why. He is the Creator. He doesn't load us up with a huge DO LIST every day. Just small requests. We need you to make contributions of your knowledge of what God is showing you, too.
Genesis 19:3
And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
Exodus 12:8
And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Exodus 12:17
And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.
Exodus 12:20
Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.
[note: LEAVEN is flour with yeast in it. The kind we like most]. There are 50 scriptures on unleavened bread.
One of the shortest verses in the bible, Luke 17:32 "Remember Lot's wife." Lot's wife was saved, until at the last minute when she decided to turn around, why she turned around, we don't know, but she did, Genesis 19:26. The devil is in the world constantly tempting us until our last breath, as in Judas who was with Jesus for his entire earthly ministry, or as in
Luke 23:39-43, the one thief on the cross (whom I believe) was the devil tempting Jesus to come down from the cross and save himself, and the other thief on the cross rebuking him and saying that they deserved their punishment, and then asking Jesus to remember him, one was saved one wasn't. This is why it's so important to put on the whole armour of God as in
Ephesians 6:11-19,
Genesis 19:26 "But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt."
I suppose the question is whether the theoretical understanding of those who are producing fruit worthy of repentance (truly saved) is the issue; or your own walk. I feel it is important to point out the greatest enemy is our self love. We deem that something in our flesh is good; this can slip very easily into humanism. Our experiences with God can be confused with emotions which give us natural enjoyment in the flesh but are transient at best. Reliance upon our feelings to dictate what experiences are from the Holy Spirit of course without spiritual discernment can lead us astray. However; if we ask God as the book of James states He gives us wisdom. If we seek the truth; we will find it. As my last post suggested in response-it is the conviction of sin; judgment and righteousness the Spirit reveals to us; often in the presence of other saints who are more mature and therefore have a greater measure of faith and/or the Spirit. I don't want to say that there is no feeling with the Lord; it is better described as existent without involving the flesh; or outside our own created world in our minds as it were. We do learn to recognize it; however if we are His sheep we recognize and hear His voice and also when strangers are teaching falsehood we sense danger and get away.
I thought it prudent to encourage you also that Christ has overcome this world. There is no fear in true love. ( 1 John 4:18). Not quoted perfectly; but my point is that the enemy continually likes to accuse us before God. The fact that our Father doesn't change ( James 1:17-18) as the "Father of lights" is different than the enemy; who likes to dangle a carrot in front of us; then torment us when we fall for it. I will keep you in prayer as to your living situation-and that the promises of Psalm 91 can be applied to your life. In general; it is always best to keep God above people; yet we have to trust God to bring who He chooses in our time of need. Stay in fellowship.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
Get ready

Thanks for your response.
Here's a few examples;
We're saved now.
God bless.
In Genesis 7, 'and the LORD' is "Yhvh" & Genesis 6,

Just curious as they say they are not sure who wrote the scrolls and...just a thought.
By His Grace I will be with Maranatha Tours from October 30th thru November 9th from Dan To Beersheba. We are scheduled to see the caves where The Dead Sea Scrolls were found and time permitting, (we will) go to where the Fire and Brimstone came down.
Yes, the excitement is mounting daily.
Thank you,
Gregory

Question #3
Deuteronomy 30
[TEACH your children Bible morals]
What father, in their right mind would give their daughters to a mob of man?
Why did lot mock when he spoke to his sons in law?
What kind of daughters were these to do what they did to their father?
Genesis 19:37 And the first born bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites until this day,
Genesis 19:38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Ben-am-mi: the same is the father or the children of Ammon unto this day.
God uses men and women for his purpose and his pleasure.
God used Lot and his daughters to bring forth two nations.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God that worketh in you both to will and to do his good pleasure.
Romans 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another vessel to dishonour?
John 18:38 Pilate said unto him, What is truth?
Lot and his daughters died, probably not knowing, truth.
God Bless you.
