Genesis is the revelation of our creation and time and space as we know it. The most important emphasis is the creation of man and woman made out of man. Genesis shows us the purpose of humanities' creation. When God created mankind it was with a glorious purpose in mind. The will of the Father for His children was that they fill the earth, bearing His image and ruling and reigning with Him.

JTD you may be mistaking the earth with the firmament or heavens Gen. 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. you quote (to divide) consider the overall difference.

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

Genesis says God made a firmament to divide the waters under the firmament from the waters above the firmament and God called the firmament Heaven. Am I misunderstanding or should there be water above the sky? Photographs of the Earth don't show water above the sky.

    Miss Ann,
This is a reference to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. All three were involved in the creation.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are male. Scripture states in John 14:17 that the Holy Spirit is Male. There are other Scriptures that say likewise.

  • Pater on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
There have been comments on the image of God and man? What was the image of God when He created Adam? What was the image of man when he was created? What is the Christian image of man today? What should be the Christian image of God today? That is what we should aim for as much as possible; and we should realize that there is a big difference in an image and a picture. An image involves all aspec

God is Father, the universal church is Bride and Mother. The sacramentalism in John's Gospel is linked to Mary, then the embodiment of Bride and Mother of God, in the water and wine of the first miracle and in the blood and water of His death.

Galatians 4:6 you should read this again even 4:26 is to compare Jerusalem to Sarah being the mother of Israel
  • Sandra Sweeney on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
God is three persons in one - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Clearly, the first two are male. I don't recall the Holy Spirit as being given a gender identification. And in Genesis 1:26, 27 KJV, God speaks of making man "after OUR likeness...in his own image...male and female created he them." Could the Holy Spirit be a more feminine divine nature of the triune God? (Not activist)
  • Lu2677 on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
I found many references in God's Word that tells us God is both male and female.Gen1:26"make man in our image,(mankind includes women)according to our likeness let THEM(caps added)have dominion.."The "them" is the 1st two humans that God made,Adam and Eve.Deuteronomy6:4 (is both male and female)Wisdom is GodProverbs 7:4"Say to wisdom, You are my sister, understanding your kinswoman"God is wisdom.
  • Lu2677 on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
Leizel, please forgive me.Galation 4:6 says Jerusalem is our mother. Jerusalem is God.
Gen.1:26God said let us make man in our image according to our likeness, let THEM (caps added)have dominion over the fish..(etc.) God made the first two humans in his image, male and female this includes Eve. God is both male and female.
  • Kevin on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
In Verse 26, god says let us create man in our image. Using the words "us and our" would indicate more than 1 person. So is there a duality in this God?
  • Tony on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
There is never a reference God in the feminine pronoun. It is always masculine. References to God are not even gender neutral. Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. Jesus Christ is definitely a man.
  • Lu2677 on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
Liezel, The term "God the Mother" is not found in scripture. Therefore it is not true.
  • Liezel Zafe on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago

I WANT TO TALK ABOUT CHAPTER1:26; WHEN GOD SAID LET US MAKE MAN IN OUR IMAGE,AFTER OUR LIKENESS: AND LET THEM HAVE DOMINION.RIGHT FROM DAY 1 GOD PUT MAN IN CHARGE AND GAVE HIM POWER TO RULE.TILL SIN CAME THERE MAN BECOME POWERLESS.THEREFORE LET US AVOID SIN TO BE POWERFUL AGAIN IN JESUS NAME.IT DOES NOT MATTER ABOUT YOUR SITUATION THERE IS POWER INVESTED IN YOU.AMEN.
  • Michael C. on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
Adam and his wife were driven from the garden, because what they did to their character and nature by sinning, made them unfit for the presence of God. God made life on earth, male and female; God identifies Himself in the masculine, but is Spirit: "That which is of the earth, is earthy...there is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body." They do not marry in heaven, but are like the angels.

    An answer to Dominic Butler,

Yes GOD and Jesus created the earth. Go to your scripture and read John 1:1-3, 10 and also Genesis 1:26.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with GOD and the Word was GOD.
  • Leonard on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
...adam and eve were "exiled" because they were tempted to "be as gods" and because they knew good and evil,"lest he now put forth his hand and take also from the tree of life"
