Irene, in all kindness I'm suggesting that you study more Even your own scripture references prove that God is 3 persons in one. Jesus was there since the creation since all was created by Him. Ex 3:14 shows he was working in OT times He was the Great I AM Matthew 22:32I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. AndJohn 8:58 it ok to debate; purpose is to teach 2Tim 3:16

To Word: Yes, Isaiah 45:21 tells us that, "... there is no GOD else beside Me..." Here, in this passage, "GOD" is also, the Hebrew word, "Elohiym" - plural (more than one).
Look at this passage: "...I am He; I am the first and the last... the LORD GOD and His Spirit hath SENT ME." Isaiah 48:12,16. This is Jesus, who was sent to this world by His Father and the Spirit.

Our God is a great God! Note: "In the beginning GOD created...." Gen. 1:1. "God" here, is the Hebrew word, "Elohiym" which is ....plural (more than one). This truth about "God" comes to light in verse 26, "And GOD (Elohiym) said, Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness.
Thus Moses says; "....the LORD our GOD (Elohiym) ....is ONE LORD." Deut. 6:4.

First, one must maintain an opened mind. There is always the possibility of something existing as the same thing but opposites. Or how can white and black be the same? How can the Son also be the Father? Remember, in God all things are possible. And, though we all are ONE, where does the INDIVIDUALcome from. Ponder these and you may well find the divinty of indviduality is the God/Christ in all

    To Susan on Gen. 1 -- We are to prove our stance by God's word, so here goes: Jn.1:1; v. 10, v. 12; Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:38; 3:16; 4:10, 12, 17; 8:12, v. 16; 10:43; 17:10-11; 19:5 v. 17; 22:16. I don't 'debate' God's word; I use it to prove itself. A lot of people like to debate; I don't.

Irene123 Right. Isaiah 45:21,22 God tells us there is only One God and He is the Saviour. Isaiah 7:14 God came and was born through woman because Immanuel translates God with us. John chapter 1:1,2,3 Christ the Word is God Creator of all things. I think that the Holy of God who listened from above to the flesh of God in the garden is One being they join together in the Revelation at the end.

Irene, If God was made of only one person, to whom was Jesus praying to when he addressed his Father? nd whom was he speaking of when he said that the Comforter (Holy Spirit) would come to guide them on all truth? We pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus, who is the mediator between the Father and man. The Holy Spirit also prays to the Father on our behalf and makes intersession for us.

To Susan on Gen. 1 -- We need to back up our 'witness' with scripture: 1 Tim. 3:16; Col. 2:9; Jn. 1:1, v. 10, v. 14; Rev. 1:18; 2:4. This isn't all; There are lots more. God didn't leave Himself without a witness.
  • Irene123 on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
To Susan on Gen. 1 -- God did indeed have the basic plan, but nowhere in His word does it mention Jesus doing anything or the Holy spirit doing anything in God's creation. God did it all because He IS all three ASPECTS, not separate persons, I am a daughter, wife and mother - but one person. God is not a person; He is spirit. He is the Holy Ghost (spirit); He was Jesus incarnate.

    To Susan on Gen. 6 -- 1Tim.3:16 - God was manifest in the flesh. Col.2:9; Jn.1:1, v. 10, v. 14; Rev. 1:18; 2:4

The Godhead consists of three. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Gospel of John 1:1-3,14 mentions the Father and clarifies that the Word is Jesus and Genesis 1:2 mentions the Spirit. All three present and taking part in Creation. I think of their parts like a contractor, architect and builder. The Father had the basic plan, the Son did the design and the Spirit, the work.

To Jim on Gen. 1 ( cont.) - also when God referred to the plural he may have been referring to the fact He already knew of His own plan to create an earthly body to dwell in named - JESUS. God is omniscient (all knowing; knowing all things from BEFORE the "beginning" in Gen.) He knew he was going to create you and me - way back then ( Jer. 1:5). Jesus wasn't before the virgin birth.
  • IRENE123 on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
to Jim on GEN. 1:26 - Some claim God was conversing with another diety. This could not be true: God made all things ALONE. The Hebrew word for God is Elohim ( plural) in ALL of Gen. 1.But the Jews believed in only ONE God - :Hear O Israel...:- DEUT. 6:4. 'Us' and 'our' are simply figures of speech that God, not man, used.

God had already created the earth .Someone once told me God was talking to the earth. Man was made from the dust of the ground. "Let us make man in our image" from the dirt of the ground and God breathed into man the breath of life. Man became a living soul. when we die the soul goes back to God and the body returns to the earth.

Jim God ordained Jeremiah and knew him before He put Jeremiah in his Mothers womb and as you read that Esau God hated and loved Jacob you realize that God knew them from before. In Ephesians 1 God speaking to the election explaining to them that they were chosen and predestin from before the foundation of the earth, this earth age. Gen 1:2 the word "was" translates "became". We are very old.

Why does it say, "And God said, let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness." Is there more than one God? Us and our does mean more than one. Right? Genesis 1:26.

I have always wondered why light was the second thing created yet the sun, moon and stars were created later down. He created light without the sun. The Psalmist said "the darkness and light are both alike to thee. God is very comfortable in darkness but he prepared Jesus before anything else as "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
