God gave us all the herbs (aka: plants) and fruits on the earth for meat (aka: food). However, he did not give us the animals for food. Wesley's notes leap to this conclusion but it's false. - Above comment..

Wow.. so easy for you to say that it's false but can't even prove it.

The Bible is true! We do not understand all that God did. There are events that are not needed to understand anything in the prior period before "the beginning". In the beginning is the time God wanted all future events to be based upon.

There is no word in the Hebrew language (when Moses was alive and writing} for the word "day". We know "day" as a twenty four hour period. God "may have" taken years to complete His work in six periods of time. God is God.

    AND

    JOHN 6, 44-45
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

    John 6,45
And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

They work in unity, they are one, We cannot come to the father except through Jesus, We cannot come to Jesus except it be given by the father,

My best "guess" to replenish the earth, there may have been a catastrophic destruction to the earth, maybe it was this destruction that destroyed the dinosaurs,

To be able to "replenish", probably there was something there then something happened to what was there and needed restored, otherwise it would be to "plenish" which according to Merriam Webster means equip,

Genesis 9,1 God tells Noah and his sons to be fruitful and multiply and to replenish the earth,
  • Pete on Genesis 1 - 11 years ago
Why does it say "replenish the earth" as in "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it"
The word means restock/restore as in restore AGAIN?
  • Mark on Genesis 1 - 11 years ago
in the beginning the earth was WITHOUT FORM, there was no earth,

Merriam Webster definition number 2, I think fits properly with, WITHOUT FORM,

    2: containing nothing

There had to of been a period of time when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, I don't see how we could deny that, because of fossil evidence, Did man cohabit with the dinosaurs? I kind of doubt it, or maybe man existed within the Garden of Eden and the dinosaurs existed on the outside of the garden at the same time and God kept them separated, then the dinosaurs were killed off before they were kicked out of the garden,

The beast of the earth, were these the dinosaurs? or elephants, rhino's and such? Did the dinosaurs cohabit with the cattle, elephants and rhino's? I kind of doubt it, maybe the cattle existed with man inside the confines of the garden of Eden, maybe the garden of Eden was a Huge vast of land,
    I don't know,

We were created with the privilege of choice, to obey God's commands or not, God put the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the garden of Eden and gave the command not to eat of it, The choice remains today whether to obey or not,

Satan himself chose not to honor the almighty authority and also the angels that chose to side with Satan and defy the almighty authority were all thrown out of heaven,

We need to respect and honor the authority and power of our creator, To fear God is the beginning of wisdom,
  • TopCatJones on Genesis 1 - 11 years ago
God created the earth to be a paradice for humans forever. When satan is removed then the earth will be a paradice for humans the way God said in the begining. What God says will be, "WILL BE".

    Dear Website,
My name is Daalkhai. Age 33. Married.
I am a Mongolian christian. In Mongolian language today we have bible. But this is translation from Alexandrian manuscript based NIV. I am Textus Receptus ( Byzantine text-type) supporter and i always want to make byzantine text type based bible translation to Mongolian language. For that i need time and money. I work as full time worker at mining company and i have no time to do translation. I must quit my job and must dedicate my full time for translation. I cant quit my job without another financial support. If i can find financial support, i can quit my job and i will do translation on full time. Can you find me financial support person or organization?
Mongolians do not know that they read corrupt text based bible translation. I always worry and unhappy with that.I hope that God will use me as a tool for best translation.
    Best regards,
    Daalkhai

    Proverbs 3:5,6

God knows that our "will" would always be our biggest hurdle to giving ourselves completely to doing God's Will - let go and enjoy His abundant joy & peace; He Loves Us despite our wicked ways & gave up His most precious Son just to be able to have us in His presence - could any of us do that? Not Likely :(

    @ Andre' Petrossians
Hello Andre! You have written quite a sermon there: I find it very interesting. But there are a few things that you need to reconsider in order to “comply” with what the Bible is teaching. It is very important, when you make a statement, to back it up with a Book, chapter and verse; otherwise that statement remains your own opinion… Because of space restraint, I’ll take one issue at a time, if I may.
You say: “In God's plan to create man, He did not predestine man to sin, NEITHER DID HE FOREORDAIN REDEMPTION. We are not minimizing the importance of redemption, but only SAYING THAT REDEMPTION WAS NOT FOREORDAINED BY GOD. If it were, then man would have to sin.”
Now, here’s what Apostle Peter is saying in his First Epistle, Chapter 1: “18 FORASMUCH AS YE KNOW THAT YE WERE NOT REDEEMED WITH CORRUPTIBLE THINGS, AS SILVER AND GOLD, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 BUT WITH THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 WHO VERILY WAS FOREORDAINED BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD, but was manifest in these last times for you…”
I can see your dilemma facing this “conundrum”. I agree that man was not preordained to sin; however, our omniscient God in His wisdom provided The Solution for sin, before it happened: THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST. There is a much deeper and more important issue connected to man’s creation and fall. Until next time, God’s blessings.

We should interject Jeremiah 4: 23-26 in between Genesis 1:2 and 1:3! Then take a good long studied look at what it now states! And after doing that, take a good very long studied look into the new discoveries and fact being dug up of the last decade, concerning the destruction of earth by a comet that broke into many pieces(the instrument of God's judgment!)that happened back before and during the Younger-Dryas event of 12,900 years ago! That's what I think. There is a 'gap' between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 but it is not billions, millions or even 100's of thousands of years, but rather only a few thousand, and the recreation from the damage caused by the comet, took God only SIX literal days to restore! That's what I think. God bless!
  • Peggy on Genesis 1:1 - 11 years ago
It says in the beginning and that is what I believe it means.

If you go to proverbs 8 around verse 22 to 31 you will see how God created the earth with wisdom and the family was there rejoicing over it's beauti.
  • Garyloyd on Genesis 1 - 11 years ago
fields has it right and if you go to Isaiah 45:18,19 you will see the earth established and created to be inhabited.
  • J. Fields on Genesis 1 - 11 years ago
"In the beginning"...this does not say when. God created nothing in vain or void. It is His favorite place in the universe. The Bible does not disagree with science as some believe. This earth is millions of years old! This earth age was due to the destruction of the first earth age (because of Satan's pride, God had to destroy an age, not His children. This earth age is for each of us to decide who we will follow: God or Satan. The account of "creation" of land, vegetation & animal life are actually a recreation. He tells man & woman to "multiply, and replenish" the earth, not "start from scratch". Something happened for this earth to "begin again"...Satan's downfall. The word was can be (and I believe correctly) translated from the original Hebrew manuscripts as became as in "the earth became void". "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2Timothy 2:15. I know most people will not agree with me, be that as it may. God knows truth. Someday we will all know His Truth completely. May God bless and give understanding to those who seek it and ask Him for it. Amen.

"When god says, in chapter 29, I have given every herb bearing seed and tree yielding seed, to you it shell be for meat, does it mean that humans were supposed to eat vegetables?"

Originally they did. Then, after the flood, God told Noah he could eat kosher animals. Then a long time later Peter had a vision from God telling him he could eat all animals. I think that's right.

I believe the Light was Jesus and the evidence of this comes from Jesus himself who speaks He is the Light of the world. What confirms it for me comes in 2 Corinthians 4:1-6.

watch your words in verse 26 god said let us make man in our image that means his son Juses was with him from the begining
  • Joyce Hutto on Genesis 1 - 11 years ago
This verse simply states that "The earth was without form and was void", meaning none of God's creations had taken place. "The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters",There was a facial water, but it had no depth, swells or tides...it was dormant the same as the earth was.
  • PAUL SHUFORD on Genesis 1:26 - 11 years ago
SO GOD CREATED MAN IN HIS OWN IMAGE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD CREATED HE HIM MALE AND FEMALE CREATED HE THEM.NOW YOU HAVE TO RIGHTLY DEVIDE THE WORD OF GOD BEFORE HIM THERE WAS NOTHING BECAUSE HE CREATED EVERYTHING NOW THERE IS SOMETHING

Our wee little minds have a hard time comprehending the Almighty, All Powerful, All Knowing way of thinking. There is One God. But the Almighty, All Powerful, All Knowing God can do All Things. Who is anyone of us to say He didn't send Jesus(Himself) to earth? Who of us is more Almighty, All Powerful or All Knowing than the One true God? When the Word says "Let us make man in our image"...that is God Himself speaking because He Is the God who created all things. Therefore, the Trinity was in the Word at the very beginning of Creation. It's just our weak comprehension that causes many not to believe the Awesomeness of our God.

And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.*** This is contrary to Genesis 1:31
  • Adumekwe Lawrence on Genesis 1 - 11 years ago
I can see the power in the word which GOD used in creating the world. GOD said let there be light and there was light, let there be day and there was day, etc. in fact, the power in the word is too measureless.
  • Mr. Happiness on Genesis 1:27 - 11 years ago
Actually, chapter 2 is the background regarding this verse. It explains the man, who is Adam, and the woman, who is Eve, that God created.
