@May-The word trinity is used to refer to(The Father,The Son & Holy Spirit) and if it does not appear in any bible it does not mean its unbiblical. Even though other words are not in the Bible, what happens is when the meaning/the interpretation is used this does not mean its unbiblical e.g.the word Millenium is not in the bible what is in the Bible is a thousand years,so does that mean millenium is pagan? NO.

Now lets hear if Jesus never specifically mentioned about the trinity.
Matt 28:18 "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

v 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Did you catch that in v19,there is a trio.
    God bless

Where do I find out about the Sumerians?
  • May on Genesis 1 - 14 years ago
Tanya, I hope you don't mind me 'butting in 'I would like to help answer your question. The word trinity, which I came to know, is not Biblical nor is it used in any Bibles or Bible dictionaries.
Trinity was never specifically mentioned by Jesus.
The formation of the trinity was presented by Athenasius, an Egyptian deacon from Alexandria and was also accepted by the council of Nicea more than three centuries after Jesus had departed from the earth.
So the word Trinity is of pagan origin and not biblical.

Adam and Eve were before the sumerians...Hello, duh. Everyone came after. I don't really get your question. The point is God created Adam and Eve as the first human beings. Rephrase your question so that it make sense.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

  • Johnydean on Genesis 1 - 14 years ago
the book of genesis was first presented at mt sanai to a group of people that had been a long time in a land that called everything a god and was meant to reteach to them the knowledge of the one true God of their fathers and the creation acount was a showdoun with the gods that intruded onto the teritory sacred within the Israelite heart that once belonged soly to the one true God of Israel Known as ELOAH yet refered to in Gen 1 as ELOAHIM in order to stress a superlative condition Of GOD of gods where the creation acount could ultimatly eliminate gods and establish GOD finalized by the last act of creation Adam and the gods are seen to fall away From GOD when the riddle of "let us create man in our image and LET HIM HAVE DOMINION{Jesus-Mt.28:19}where the next verse state AND SO GOD CREATED IN HIS OWN IMAGE adam who was to journy on through time where he would die and in the fulness of time be BORN AGAIN in a manger in Bethlehem as the SECOND ADAM

I agree , it is pagan plagiarism just as the very name Jesus is pagan because their is no J in original Hebrew .....his name is Yahshua (not Jesus) ....the christian world has been taught traditions of men instead of Abba Yahweh's truth !
  • Brad on Genesis 1 - 14 years ago
Read Revelation and you will see El Elyon is one. Father, Son and, Ruach HoKodesh. Read very slowly. El Elyon is one. He has been, is, and will be one as He always has been, one.
    Shabbat Shalom

  • Bo on Genesis 1 - 14 years ago
So "thousands" of years before God sent himself to earth, he purposely used the phrase "Let US go down and make man in OUR image"? God is so omni-everything that he talks with his other 2 parts?
Just look at the creation account. How could anyone take it literally? It is IMPOSSIBLE!
    1st day, 2nd day...
There are NO days until the earth is created and orbiting the sun/revoling on its axis.--FACT
Something that is omni-everything is not bound to something as trivial as time. God is everywhere.

The 7 day creation story is plagiarism from Sumeria. Sumerian mythology is the origin of this story and the number 7 is used based on their knowledge of planets.
    1. Sun
    2.Mercury
    3.Venus
    4.Earth
    5.Mars
    6.Jupiter
    7.Saturn
That is why "7" days are used.
I could go further with the number 12 and it's signifance,but....

Bo: If you deny the trinity, what else can anyone say? It is only one of the most important truths of the Word of God. You can call it what you will, but it is what it is, and your eternal soul depends upon it being what God says.
  • Bo on Genesis 1 - 14 years ago
@ Mary--that's simply not true. The "Us" is simple pagan plagiarism. Christians can't make sense of it, so the holy spirit is thrown in.
  • Joe on Genesis 1 - 14 years ago
My Dear Trinidad: I don't know to whom you are addressing your comments, but although your heart is in the right place, you must admit that when a brother or non-believer needs friendly correction, then such correction could save his/her soul. Sure, everyone can believe whatever they want, but there is still only ONE WAY TO GOD, and that's through JESUS. Any other belief will NOT get you to heaven. I didn't say that; GOD did! So I ask again: who is judging whom?
  • Trinidad on Genesis 1 - 14 years ago
It is not your place to judge your brother, for he has his own path, and you have yours.

"Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men." Romans 14:13-15

He has the right to believe what he wants to believe, and i think god would encourage that.

    AMEN, Mary!
  • Mary on Genesis 1 - 14 years ago
Read verse 26... God said "let US make them in OUR image, and in OUR likeness". This refers to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. The bible clearly states the only way to God and to Heaven is thru the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We must accept Jesus as our personal savior to be Born Again. If this is not the basis of your religion it is ALL in vain.

The name Genesis claims the eternal outline of creation. To me this clearifies all things good are within God's light. It clearifies plants, anamials, all that is good are of God's great plan. Made in our likeness, solidifies that male and female are the reflection of the fullness of God's creation, after His likeness. Male and female in all things, including the seed within its self of the plants of the field. The one Divine God in which all things are made in His light. What man has chosen to become is unlike this likeness, so God's plan of redemption, is set forth in His son, and the Holy spirit, through reformation, we can reclaim our heritage as children of God. In this light we find salvation from the distortions or darkness of the world of man, in which have days, and years. Eternal life is the ultimate of God's perfect plan, unfolding in grace, beauty, and joy, reflecting His pure and powerful Love. I do not see how it can be put any better then it is outlined here.
  • Joe on Genesis 1 - 14 years ago
The fact that you DIDN'T read it as fact or fact proven indicates your soul is in mortal danger. Please reconsider your reading of, not only the first book of the Bible, but the entire Bible as the Gospel.
  • Barrney Popkin on Genesis 1 - 14 years ago
I read it as prologue to a bigger story, like say Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, not so much as gospel or as factual pro batum or probatum est probatum est.

Tell me about it, "Enzo". A whole lot of "worldly" education spouting a whole lot of nothing. I am very sad to say that the only reason I got a higher education in the first place is so I could get a worthwhile job. It turns out that much of what I was "taught" was total nonsense, such as you see in many of the comments below. Sad... Jesus is about to return, and all people can talk about are dreams and nightmares...

The word in of Gen!;1 is where a God that is everwhwere would go to distinguish the diference between everywhere and nowhere thus creating somwhere called in.where God could begin to sort things that caused a blind lack of direction from things that brought the focus of the children of Israel in upon the One God who had been since the begining sorting Light from darkness thus drawing the wandering Israelites scatered by egyptian polytheism to that one tru light somewhere in God
  • Enzo on Genesis 1:8 - 14 years ago
As usual a nonsensical explanation of illogical facts told for credulous ignorant people.
Read well and see how many stupidity & contradictions there are.

it is my comprehesion and belief to be the truth that in/by God's Grace we are saved through the personal acceptance we each make of our saviour Christ Jesus and the Blood he spilled on the cross for us, and i also get it that the Law was given (made known) to man via Moses per the old testement, but the fulfilment of the prophecy's by the life and death of Christ Jesus, his ministry and the new testement reveal that we are to Love the one true God, our heavenly father and creator and to love our neighbor as much as we do ourselves and upon those two precepts hang all the laws of the old testement (which I see as a kind of metaphor in that, as an everyday reminder of God's Law we have 10 fingers hanging of 2 arms/hands for everthing we touch as we do 10 toes hanging off 2 legs/feet for every step we take), ...however my thought is I find it very interesting that in Gen 1:26-27 we are shows "-26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over... and so he did both male and female" which i also note at the end of the day(6th) he saw that it was not just good like the first 5 but "very good" ... whereas my point being, as Genisis 1 ends we see that we/mankind are created by God, in (their) God's image and likeness, of which is 'very good' we then see a remarkable change in the descriptive writing after Gen 2:3 right through to the end of the old testement... and that is God is know reffered to as LORD God which is peculiar because if anyone who studies commerce knows to add a title especially a fully capitilzed one is to refrence Commerce/Commercial entity, like how your NAME is written on a birth certificate, Drivers Licence and Credit cards etc, which also sort of verifies Gen 1 whereas we are made in his image and likeness meaning we should know how to truly be with one another but from Gen2:4 onwards its the creation of the PERSON (or generation of Adam) mankind's fall from grace....

"Man was the last animal created" (John N. Clayton). Man are not animals!"So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." ( Genesis 1:27)

This world is no dream, nor is it an experiment of aliens needing gold or slaves. Those needing gold and slaves are U.S. and world governments. They need this Earth for their power. But, they've lost it all.

If you gain the whole world and lose your soul, of what profit is it.
