    Hi Donna,

I came to this site a month or so ago to begin in Genesis. I completed it a week or so ago. I am going to begin Exodus beginning January 1st. So, we will be pretty current to one another in our study. That may be helpful to us! If you wish we can kind of keep in touch with each other as you go through Genesis. If you wish to go on to Exodus, then we can keep in touch for that, too.

I found it helpful to read the passage and to read the commentary and then to read all comments before I added a post.

    Hi Donna,

That's good that you are seeking the truth in the scriptures. You may consider praying and asking God for wisdom in regards to your questions.

The topic of Jesus and God has been frequently discussed in these forums. You can probably find them by doing an advanced search for those keywords.

If I understand one of your questions correct its if Jesus is God how why did He pray to Himself? And how can you be separate, but one at the same time? I think these questions conflate a few things. In our world we don't have anything similar to what is described in the Bible and try to make sense of it in human terms, but unfortunately in attempting to do so, often the truth of God's Word is then distorted and can turn into false teaching. Basically, I put my trust in God's word and believe what it says. I believe what it says instead of what a human being says. If someone preaches something other than what it says, I don't believe them.

1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

How "one" are they and how "three" are they? We don't know, but it says the three are one so I believe it. If a man says the "three are three" that is untrue, because that's not what Bible says. If a man says "only one is one" and the other two are not "one", that is also untrue, because that's not what the Bible says.

Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image"

"Let us" is plural, more than one.

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

    "The Word was God."

It says Jesus is the Word in verse 14, so the Bible says Jesus is God.

If it says it then I choose to believe it, even though I don't 100% comprehend how the 3 is 1 and 1 is 3 simultaneously.

Philippians 2:5-8 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:"

    "form of"

    "equal with"

Hi Charlotte when I have biblical questions I do trust this site as pretty accurate in most of its answers got questions.org is a good site to gain knowledge from , but in the end Its prayer and the contemplation of the Bible , we are NOT saved by our good works I know that, we are saved by His undeserved Kindness = Grace, and in His Precious blood which we have faith in to save us and The Godman Christ Jesus.

This knowledge that we ARE SAVES aught to lead the believer to produce good works though , though works in themselves , are not necessary I dont think for salvation . We should all FEEL the need to produce good works if we can , its like getting up for the days works. we want to make our employers happy with us , much moreso our God :) !

    gotquestions dot org

Got questions also has a very comprehensive you tube channel They say Got questions ? the Bible has answers , and we'll help you fiind them , they have a smaller channel too called Bible Munch

The Website is non denominational to my knowledge .

  • GiGi - In Reply on Genesis 1 - 3 years ago
Thanks for rewording your question. The works we do for God are not what we do in hopes of gaining salvation. Salvation is all of grace and God working in us. The works we do for God are our obedience to Him out of love for Him and worship of Him. This obedience is all the good we do in our lives for others and within ourselves to walk according to the Spirit of God. These works do not earn us anything before God, they are our offerings to Him that arise from our gratitude for all e has done and continues to do in and for us. These works can be summed up in the phrase "a life lived for God and His glory."

    The Holy Spirit did exist & manifest itself in people prior. Genesis 1:2, Genesis 6:3, Genesis 41:38, Judges 3:10, Judges 6:3, Judges 11:29, 1 Samuel 11:6-7, 1 Samuel 16:13, 2 Kings 2:9,

    1 Samuel 16:14, 1 Samuel 19:20,

There are more references. Here are some more study references. Hope this helps.

appears to be different in the manifestation unto many people at the same time with many events occurring.

Also people being able to transfer the HOLY Spirit to another seems to appear after CHRIST was resurrected from death & the grave. Acts 1, Acts 9:17,31, Acts 10:44, Acts 11:15,16, Acts 13:52, Acts 19:1-11,

    Ephesians 5:9, Galatians 3:14, Romans 8:1,

Please read the WORD of GOD,

The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us..." in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.

    John 10:30

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and GODHEAD so that they are WITHOUT EXCUSE."

    Genesis 1:1

    The Father purposes

The Word (Jesus) speaks. ( John 1:1)

The Spirit (Holy Spirit) executes the spoken word. Action.

All working together. Jesus came to show us the Father, as Emmanuel.

    Matthew 1:23

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God WITH US. [Jesus]

{Comment} Jesus came to bring to each born again believer; the baptism and the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit.

    [ Genesis 1:2, John 3:6, Acts 2:1-3, John 16: 7-15]

Upon being born again, Jesus gives the Holy Spirit to us. Teach us scripture, comfort us, convict us of sin, enable us to be witnesses. Stay in the New Testament at first. Learn fully who the Son of Man is (Jesus).

Your friend might get a better picture of what is coming to the earth, by watching this high tech kinda wild movie on what the end times will look like. It helps to read the Book of Revelation in the Bible.

Lots of people can't get a point of reference on Revelation. It seems mystical but it isn't. It going to fit perfectly into our society.

This movie is chopped up into about 10 videos. To see how earth ends and begins again, watch the one titled, the "Millennium."

See it on YouTube. It's about 1:44 mins long.

Tell friends about it too. Very little dialog, but scripture references are shown.

(The videos put out by Lion of the Tribe of Judah; don't get it mixed up with the Revelation Station videos)

Well, I finished Genesis. Such a meaningful study. I stated in a prior post that I was going back the the beginning and beginning a journal. I started that a few weeks ago. I have not gotten past Genesis 1:1! This is because I was stopped at the point it said, "In the beginning God.."

I wrote in my journal. God Is... and prayed where God will take me on this. I knew I was to revisit the doctrines of God.

I started with "God Is Simple" and journaled for days!. Finally I have moved to the next aspect I was lead to: God is Self-Existent... I have been studying and journaling on that for the past week.

God is the most amazing being in all of the universe! It is well worth a study, especially if you have not done so before or in a while. Considering His excellencies leads to worship and gratitude. I encourage others here to do this, too!

If you begin googling one aspect of God, articles will usually list other aspects that relate to the one you are considering, so the Spirit can lead you to study many aspects of God in His Being. Fabulous to have the internet for this!

Hi Lidia A couple of things to consider Genesis 2:1 the word host [is tsaba or service of them] so God was done with servicing that which He did. the other usage of

tsaba is warfare which would not fit in this context. In Genesis 1:28 God said to subdue or have control over that which

had breath life i.e. fish animals bugs etc. no where do I see for the purpose consumption yet. Then God gives the

purpose of why He gave vegetation in verses 29-31. If there was something other than what we currently know as

mankind the explanation maybe what happened between genesis 1:1 and genesis 1:2 where something may have

occurred cataclysmic which may explain dinosaurs or so called prehistoric man, which is why they can only find fossils

because whatever was there got wiped out. This may explain the statement in our image to replenish the earth.

But like that which Chris commented on First Adam [adam means red earth] of the earth 2nd Adam Jesus Christ.

    Just giving another perspective.
  • Chris - In Reply on Genesis 2 - 3 years ago
Hello Lidia. In reference to what you stated, how do you also understand Genesis 1:24,25 (God's creating the creatures/beasts of the Earth) with Genesis 2:19,20? If there were two separate creations of Man ( Genesis 1:26-29), there must of necessity also be two creations of the creatures of the Earth ( Genesis 2:19). So, why do you think that would be? Maybe God wanted to add more creatures to fill the Earth? Or maybe, one can be justified to believe that the creation of living, moving creatures & man of chapter 1 have a direct bearing on their reference again in chapter 2?

And the second problem: the Apostle Paul speaks of the first man Adam ( 1 Corinthians 15:45) as opposed to the last Adam (Christ), a quickening (life-giving) spirit. This would be incorrect, as according to some folk's understanding, that Adam was not the first man at all & there were other human (& animal) creations before them. The question that comes to bare upon is, why were those 'first' created beings not referenced in any other way; did they get lost into oblivion, God showing them no care, except upon this special second creation of Adam & Eve?

The third problem: we have the sin question coming up as well. If we see Adam & Eve commit sin & that sin nature transmitted to all mankind as a result, was that first creation of mankind spared from being caught up in Satan's snare? I say 'spared', as no doubt, in time, Adam's sin would have eventually passed onto them through inter-marriage. And if so, maybe the Great Flood didn't engulf them, as the Flood was God's Wrath upon a faithless, God-forsaking world.

I realize that we don't have answers to such questions, but they are worth considering in light of our separate understandings of this Genesis account & what other questions are raised that should cause us to examine our beliefs & utterances. If there's little support for the 'one creation only' belief, there would also be little support of a 'dual creation' belief, don't you think?

Thank you for your kindness. I appreciate your comment.

I used to be a street preacher, logged in a lot of miles, been chased by "Christian scientists", barked at by people and dogs lol. I frequently picked up new converts and took them to church with me. I've had a great life so far with Jesus!

I don't think about before I met Jesus too much. No one ever asked me if I'd like to go to church with them. After I was saved I made it a priority to ask people if they'd like to go with me; any day the church doors were open. I do not ascribe to doctrines on "When is Sabbath". I wholly support going whenever the doors are open. I'm not married and I actually love Jesus's Church.

Most of my neighbors are 50-80+ years old and lonely. They know I'm a Christian and we have some lively talks.

I was watching tornado videos and praying hard. I accidentally clicked on a website I've been to before.

Tonight I'm really excited because a teaching I heard 30 years ago was confirmed!! Genesis 1:1, in Hebrew reads: IN BEGINNING; not In The Beginning. Which proves God set time in motion for earth and people. The thing that proves it is the first word in Genesis; translated to BERISHEET in Hebrew. Isa 46:9

I don't know Hebrew and wish I did.

So, this teaching is on one of my favorite Youtube sites: Rock Island Books, dated Nov21,2018

There's a lot of explanation about Hebrew letters. (I wrote it all down) I'm watching it in the morning again.

I'm grateful he didn't set a date for "the Rapture". No one knows the date. Only the Father.

Blessings to you and peaceful sleep!

Wow ! ..I like your Idea.Pastor St. Greg Fraser... I'm gonna start doing Bible study this way..I have regular Bible study with one of the Sisters at my Church..but she has a family and a job..so I have to wait for her to have enough time..which I do very much understand ..so I'm on my own alot of the time with my Bible and need structure..there is a "Yearly reading plan for every day of the year"..and I have started that too.. but I guess I'm wanting to read more scripture ..and some of the words I don't understand the meaning to.. so I'm writing them down along with what book and chapter and verse, I read in (and don't understand) ..and I did see there's a KJV..Concordance in the very back of my Bible..that helps some of the time..but not all the time...I found "Smite" ..but not "Smote" ..trying to learn the language ..and meanings..of Jesus's word.

    Thank you

Once I started at Genesis, Psalms & Matthew reading in those 3. It was amazing the revelation revealed while reading old & New Testament together especially when one chapter like Psalms 22, & Luke 23,

It could have been better structured however. Maybe start with ,

    Genesis, John ,

    Exodus, Joshua, Hebrews,

Hosea, Song of Solomon, Ruth, Job, Tobit,

Psalms, Luke, just keep markers in each place, when jumping around.

    Judges

    1 Samuel, 1 Chronicles, 1 Kings, 1 Esdras, 2 Esdras,

2 Samuel, 2 Chronicles, 2 Kings, Ecclesiastes, Lamentations,

Letter of Jeremiah, Baruch, Judith, Prayer of Manasses,

    Deuteronomy, Susanna,

Daniel, Esther, Ezekiel, Revelations, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, Matthew, Jude,

Additions to Esther, Haggai, Obadiah, Nehemiah, Ezra, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah,

Jonah, 1 Maccabees, 2 Maccabees, Bel and the Dragon,

    Joel, Amos, Micha, Malachi

    Proverbs, Ecclesiastcus, Wisdom of Solomon,

Zechariah, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Mark, Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians,

    Galatians, Colossians, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, 1 Peter, 2 Peter,

    Titus, Philemon, James, Philippians

    Hopefully this is helpful.

I am considering reading the Bible in a year, starting January 1, 2022. If I start reading for a year from your site, will it start with the book of Genesis? I was initially thinking of starting with the book of Genesis to Revelation. What is the best way to get a better understanding of reading the Bible? I have tried to read the entire Bible, but never met that goal. I will be reading KJV.

    Mr. Hurry,

It's put in Order of Table of Contents as in the front of hand held Bible, I know it was difficult for me too, to adjust at first There's also a search bar for words, phrases & even names. If you search for Jesus name in search bar add an additional word like Jesus heals. Is there anything particular you would like help finding? Like Jesus' life Matthew, Mark, Luke & John all are books that cover that. Prophecy about Jesus Psalms 22, Isaiah 53,. Especially after the first books I've noted.

    Creation, The flood, (Noah, = Genesis 6, - 9

    Moses = Exodus

    Hopefully this is helpful.

Earl Psalm 147:4 He telleth the number of the stars, he calleth them all by names. In Genesis 1:14 and God

said let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from night anfd let them be for sings and

for seasons and for days and for years. The word signs is the hebrew word avah [to mark something specifically]

    an event to take place.

In antiquity the names of the stars were given Psalms 147:4 again he calleth the stars by names, and those

names are specific by design Gods. The greeks called stars planets wandering asteres in there close location are so close we can follow there motion. The magi over a few years time were watching a planetary conjunction that involved

mercury messenger planet with venus the bright and morning star planet with Regulus known as heart of the lion i.e.

lion of Judah and finally Jupiter which is known as the Kings planet also Hebrew name is ssedeq meaning righteousness.

these planets in the rotation got within .23 degrees of each other and would have appeared as one single bright star.

The magi would have known this because the Persians studied the heavens in depth, also some of them worshipped

the wrong way. Also this planetary conjunction happened over bethlehem in the constellation virgo i.e. virgin on the elliptical horizon. Look that one up Earl.

Food cooked responsibly and received with prayer and thanksgiving is clean. The power of "clean" is in Jesus Name.
