The Book of Judges shows Israel in limbo. The great leadership of Moses & Joshua ended with their deaths, & the ruler ship of the kings had not begun. And to make matters worse, there was no prophetic voice to be heard at this time, not until the last judge & prophet, Samuel. So the spiritual state of Israel was very low & they were given, as they often did, to the practises of the heathen around them. God had raised judges (like Othniel, Gideon, Samson, Deborah, Jepthah, etc.) in the time between Joshua & King Saul so that Israel could deal with their enemies & in conquering the land, but their spiritual life turned to one of full apostasy.

Then in Judges chapter 17, we read, as an addendum, the life of one Micah & his Mother. He had taken some money from her without her knowledge, she had placed a curse on the one who stole it, Micah admitted to the crime & she forgave him. That money (the silver) was what she wanted to melt down to make an idol from it, for the benefit of her son & the household. Micah already had many idols, even consecrating one of his sons as a priest to administer the worship - showing how spiritually dry & perverted this family & their times were in. And verse 6 is the central theme of this Book, indeed of the life of Israel: "every man did that which was right in their own eyes", by forsaking the True God & His Commandments.

Anyway, in time, a Levite (of the Tribe of Levi & consecrated to do service in the Tabernacle - but without a job), happened to pass by Micah's home. Micah took the opportunity to have him be his live-in priest instead, even offering a stipend, clothing & food. However, this Levite (we understand his name as Jonathan (18:30)), was not authorized to be a priest, but such was the condition in those days, that 'anything goes'. And you can read more of this fearful despicable condition in the following chapter & chapter 19, reminiscent of the days of Lot & Sodom & Gomorrah.

Pray for Jim a Drilling Engineer 500 miles out in the ocean where he needs $7,000 to have food delivered for his crew of 8 and in order to finish his contract and return home safely.

I believe it's because Cain went out and dwelt in the lad of nod after he killed Abel, and the think he found a wife from a pryor creation, but they forget God told Adam and Eve to replenish the earth it wasn't already replenished. Lets look carefully at when Cain went away, I think we may have a clue. Genesis 4:14-17 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, (that every one that findeth me shall slay me).

And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain,( lest any finding him should kill him.)

And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

Just to write a kind reply. Many people today believe and have proof of the earth being "flat"(simple term). Proving the curve of the earth to not be real, or exist, as would be on a "ball". The only proof nasa or anybody else has is word of mouth and pictures/TV. As I am not here to make anybody believe anything. We are all on our own mission as you know.

So to the Bible. As Gary stated about the "firmament". Saying to study the word maybe that it actually means a "solid expanse". A couple other things in the Bible on this in Genesis. How the great lights that were created, sun, moon, stars, were set "in" the firmament. Genesis 1:14-17. How Joshua made the sun, and moon, stand still. Joshua 10:12-13. Some people say God really made the earth stop rotating and spinning because they didn't know we were on a "ball" in space back then. Basically saying the Bible is wrong here. Or maybe how the Bible says in so many places the earth is "fixed and immovable". Is the Bible wrong here too as nasa claims we are spinning at around 1000mph and rotating around the sun over 66k mph? I believe the Bible.

Did you know they say the tilt of the earth is 23.4 degrees? Minus a right angle of 90 degrees it is 66.6 degrees.

As I'll end with Isaiah claiming God to sit on the circle of the earth. A circle is not a "ball" or "sphere". Isaiah also knew this as well. In Isaiah 22:18 he states "toss thee like a ball". Which is a different Hebrew word than "circle".

Anyway, again, I don't think us followers of Christ should argue over such things. Sometimes the truth is not easy to accept after being deceived for all our lives.
