OK, once again confused...here it seems that animals were made first in the last chapter, but here man was made then animals to make him not so lonely? I am reading this for the first time as an adult and giving it an open mind. But it is making less sense to me. I would like a scholarly explanation. I am feeling a bit let down as a learned man now that these old readings make less sense to me. There are comments here by those that are completely loyal of the words regardless of the logical meanings, and good for them. But if a scholar could justify the discrepencies, and explain in a way that doesn't say that god is right and that is it, I would appreciate it. In this day and age God is as God is not a valid argument to me.
What a wonderful verse as all are. Remember HIS thoughts are higher than your thoughts...I look at this verse as a crime scene, like an investagater would ...look very close. Set it up and look close ..look at every word and ask questions.. Sin is comming and sin is a crime against God and let us look at this crime scene closely. Who is the guilty one ..not God, this verse is giving us the answers we need to understand what is going on....Thus the heavens and the earth were finished...could it be that finished means more than what you have always thought... could it be that an end of some kind had happened....I say as I see it an end is there..that is why God rested on the seventh day and rested could mean as a chicken rests on her eggs that God covered us with his love and rested on us as a mother hen does when she covers her eggs... we need Him so much if an end had come...verse 4 says these are the generations of .. do you realize that to have a generation these must be a death....something happened to cause a death and the need for a new generation....the mist going up and watering the ground is very important........the Lord rested on us and thus a cloud as He did for the people of God after leaving with Moses...Remember the cloud .. that is a mist ..it is God and He watered the whole face of the ground.WITH LIVING WATER OF HIMSELF.MOSES HIT THE ROCK INSTEAD OF TOUCHING IT TO GET WATER FOR THE PEOPLE AND DIDN'T GET TO GO INTO THE PROMISE LAND BECAUSE OF THAT MOVE..GOD IS THE LIVING WATER.....Now Adam was made of the dust of The ground . I like reading the christian's answers to the various conflicts in Genesis 1 and 2. The King James version of Genesis is greatly sanitized. Read an unabridged Torah then compare and contrast the two versions of creation.
"Let Us create man" I think is the plurality of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, They are one God, and therefore each are spiritual beings made of the same spiritual GOD substance. We call their substance God and all other creatures in heaven or earth are not made of the God substance.
Thus we become children of God but we will never be the same substance as GOD the creator. God the Father is made of this "God substance so is His Son made of the same God substance (making him God) and the Holy Spirit is made of the same God subtance (making him God). Let's just say whatever your DNA make-up is that is what you and your offspings will be . Same is true of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are God because their "DNA make-up is GOD .

"And the Lord God formed man" Is simply a recaputre or summary of the creation and not a new creation or addition to the creation.

Yes the bible mentions it, but it’s a teaser you really have no choice b/c if you reject you're automatically condemned with eternal damnation am I right? You may not be forced to praise and choose God /Jesus etc., but the mental torment you’re fed from the beginning is enough to place you in a state of fear and paranoia like none other, would you concur? But I’m sure the next step is you’re told that you have this fear it’s the fear of God. So then you’re lead to believe it right?
So back to your comment, you’re ok with stating God is God correct and my translation is you really don’t give a crap if you’re being dominated or not (spiritually I mean of course, b/c this is what its all about a spiritual battle)…..so would you be ok with someone physically dominating you? Perhaps communism is more your taste?
I don’t mean to seem harsh I’m just to the point & prefer a straight answer with actual facts then a reference jumping from verse to verse to create a story out of then figure out a “moral value” out of it.

Please be it known that this is my understanding of Gen.2:7, from the 1st chapter of the book of Genesis, we were told of God creating all things, then there was the spirit of God moving over the whole earth that has no formand then in the above chapter, we hear of the Lord God.
From here we see the completion of the Trinity (God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)
Jesus Christ is the Lord God who sat down and put together into physical manifestation the thoughts of God the father.
God the Father in his mind had an archictural design of a beautiful planet earth. Jesus Christ on the other hand is the bricklayer, capenter, plumber, and builder that brought it into manifestation.
In chapter two God elaborates on the creation of man. Indeed man has been created on the 5th day. In this chapter some inside details are provided. In other words, how man was distinctly created. I hope this helps our friend understand chapter two.
To our dear friend Macolm , God is God and it is not wierd if god does, whatever he wish to do. the first man resembles the animals in their way of life example ,The cave man , peking man, nienderthalman etc. this people has no direct contact with God ,..they sleep eat etc. without knowing their creator, thats why their stories have not been told exept for their relics.But not the case of Adam he has The Reasoning power the real likeness of God.He could directly talk to god,And creating Adam especilly in Paradise is jusr simply settining a good example to every human being nowadays . showing what really will happen to non believers and believer to our Great God. In verse 5 "before" doesn't mean earlier, it means in front of; the (seeds of the) plants and herbs are ready to go.
In verse 6 we get clouds and rivers so Nature kicks off.
On the 6th day God created people in general and put them at the top of the food chain.
In Ch2 verse 7 he creates THE man called Adam and the rest of the Bible is about his descendants - ie the Jews and the Moslems.
We know there are other people around because in Ge 4:17 Cain "lies with" one of them, and after that it's a free-for-all.
