    They both died spiritually.

People are dead spiritually until they are Born Again and receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. He is the one that baptizes people with the Holy Spirit. A person knows when that happens. It's necessary to repent of sin and be washed clean by the Blood of Jesus.

Invisible, but that's when the Spiritual Link to God is restored. You will know when it happens. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you to understand the Bible. Start in the Book of John and stop off in Romans.

It means you will die at some point not necessarily immediately. Up until that point there was eternal life no death for Adam and Eve. That is my take. Hope it helps.

Kathy, even though man in his imaginations & depictions in paintings, show cherubim as chubby babies with wings flitting about the place, cherubim (Cherub, singular) in the Bible are certainly not that.

In the Bible, Cherubim are heavenly beings appointed by God as guards in Eden ( Genesis 3:24). They were depicted as carvings at either side of the Mercy Seat on the Ark in the Tabernacle ( Exodus 25:18-21). Their figures were woven into the veil in the Tabernacle ( Exodus 26:1). The Lord is seen symbolically riding on one ( Ezekiel 10:1-22).

Many have their interpretations of the function of Cherubim. I generally understand them as a type of angel (or, heavenly being) that are appointed as guards of God's Throne or His Holiness & symbols of His Mercy to all. This is largely taken from their position on the Mercy Seat. Then we have the other beings called Seraph/Seraphim that serve before God's Throne awaiting His Commands & are involved in purification as in Isaiah 6:1-7. What their actual functions are now, especially in light of the resurrected & ascended Lord Jesus at God's right Hand, isn't revealed.

    Hello brother Hugo,

I hope I'm not stepping on Mishael's feet but just felt to post, a couple things, on the conversation you were having. So as you say "provide evidence" Genesis 4:1 is all I can give you. As along with in Genesis 4:25 Adam "knew" his wife and bore a son. About how you state "fruit" means "sex", or how you perceive it, just does not fit for me. Clearly they are speaking of eating fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. That God told them not to eat lest they will surely die. What about when the "serpent" says to Eve "Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" Then she replies to him about eating fruit of the garden just not of the "certain" tree. Genesis 3:1-3. I can't see mixing this up with Eve having intercourse with(if that's what you portray) the "serpent". And about saying the genealogy would be wrong if Cain was Eve's first is incorrect. It would be the same as genealogies go off the "children of". As Cain has his own genealogy.

I guess one other thing I can state is in the Book of Enoch. Enoch was taken, on a tour, and actually was shown the Tree of Knowledge in a garden. A tree with fruit. I know not a lot of people believe in the Book of Enoch but I find many things in it that connect directly to our Holy Bible.

Maybe this whole thing with the "serpent seed" is really just a way to say someone is still living a very sinful and godless lifestyle. Which I would just categorize someone who has not been saved by Jesus Christ yet or still stuck in the "world". And I believe the Lord can save anyone, even the most wretched person. Instead of saying someone is of "serpent seed" I'd rather just say they haven't been saved yet or are not with the Lord. The whole "serpent seed" story was made up by someone and can not be proven. Just as many other things cannot be proven.

I'll stop here. God Bless you Hugo. Please don't take this harshly.

What one thing did Eve not have that all other people have?
  • Chris - In Reply on Genesis 2 - 4 years ago
In Genesis chapter 1, the names of the first man & woman are not given, except that God created man (Heb. ha-a-dam) on the sixth day of creation, from which the name Adam is generally applied to this first man.

Then in Genesis chapter 2, God continues to refer to this creation as "man", until verse 19, where God refers to this man as Adam. When the time came to create someone else to be a companion & help to Adam, he created "woman" (Heb. is-sah), to which Adam also referred to her, as she "was taken out of man".

In Genesis 3:20, "And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living". Now Adam refers to is-sah, calling her, Eve (Heb. haw-wah) & through their union, they became as "one flesh".

However, if your question infers whether the creation of mankind in chapter 1 is different from the reference to mankind in the other chapters, then that would be an incorrect deduction, as chapter 1 gives God's Creative Work on the "six days" whereas the other chapters expands on chapter 1 & takes the subsequent events after creation further. Therefore, man & woman in chapter 1 are the same Adam & Eve in chapters 2 & 3.

Disagree. John 1:1 contradicts what you just said. It says "the Word was God" and you just said the Word was "not" God.

This reminds me how Genesis 3:3-4 Eve said they'll die if they eat the fruit and satan said "Ye shall not surely die." - the exact opposite of the truth.

Satan is the father of lies, he deceives people, even people who think they are right, he's usually the one behind it all.

So, since you're claiming something other than John 1:1 is true, how do we know you're not the one who is deceived? What is the evidence that what you're saying is the truth and not a heresy from satan?

    God bless...

    Romans 1:20

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

    Colossians 2:9

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

The Godhead speaking to each other, in Scripture:

    Genesis 1:26, Genesis 3:22, Genesis 11:7

    1 John 5:7, Book of John 10:30

    Acts 17:27-30

The Godhead represents The Father, The Son of God, the Holy Spirit.

Comment: many people argue on this and this is a case of: Let God be true and every man a liar. Don't twist scriptures to validate your theories.

Jesus left heaven to come to earth and His name was the Son of man: fully God and fully human. He set aside his power to begin life as a baby, child and at age 30 he began his mission: to teach, make disciples, heal the sick, cleanse the leper's, cast out demons, doing good.

He was put on trial for blasphemy: saying he and His Father are ONE. He was judged and ordered to be crucified. He even saved one of the thieves he was crucified next to. Buried 3 days and then He walked out of the tomb! Many people went on record having seen him walking around after resurrection. It's recorded in the Bible and human history books. His ascension back into heaven was eye witnessed. Later, Jesus knocked Paul off his horse, blinded him but other people there HEARD an audible voice speak to Paul. It was Jesus!

Flash back to Pentecost: the Holy Spirit of God appears in the Upper Room as a roaring Wind and everyone receives His Baptism! It spills out into the street and everyone is hearing their own languages spoken! Many people were saved that day. He is spirit, so he is invisible; but unmistakably present in our world. He reveals Jesus to common people every day.

Life is EXCITING! Why would anyone turn down so great a salvation? Copy this down & preach it to family and friends.

    Stop procrastinating!

    Mishael,

It may be that the book of Genesis is discussed every day on this web site is because people care about and are curious of the topics that are covered.

The first mention of the Messiah (Jesus, our Lord and Savior) is in Genesis 3:15, and contains the main reason why He was sent; to defeat death which is the Devil.

God did write a book explaining creation, it can be found in Genesis. It is our choice to believe it or not. What I can say for certain is that the Bible is not at odds with Archaeology. Nor is the Bible at odds with science; those issues are left for man, and usually come up between believers and non-believers. The book of Genesis and the Bible as a whole, reinforces Archaeology as well as all the rules of science.

There is no problem to anybody if YOU want to wait until you get to heaven to find out the things you are less interested in concerning Scripture. But why should you care if someone wants to talk about creation?

If the main topic you are concerned with is being born again, that topic is also discussed every day on this web site without any issue.

It seems as though a few of the "regulars" on this site feel the need to monitor and police the various comments; and then offer their righteous evaluation of other peoples' misinterpretations.

We all have a right to comment without condemnation....

Cheryl. Genesis 1:27 declares that God created man first & did so in His Own Image. That is, this new creation had all of God's attributes (holiness, love, joy, peace, etc.) yet someone who had flesh - unlike God, Who is Spirit. I'm not a Hebrew scholar by any means but from my research into this portion of the Bible, I see the following: The word for Mankind in Hebrew (the original writing of the Old Testament) is, Ha-Adam. So, the first man's name Adam, means 'mankind' (in general).

Then in Genesis 2:22, God noticing that man was alone & wandering around aimlessly (2:18), decided to make another human to be his companion in life & a help to him (2:18). So from a part taken from Adam (his rib), God created another human being & Adam named her 'Woman'. In Hebrew, 'woman' is 'ishshah'.

In Genesis 2:23, we read that Adam named this new creation, Woman, as she came out of man (i.e. made from his body). Now the Hebrew changes as it allows for not mankind, but for the dual genders. The Hebrew then for this man Adam becomes 'ish' and for 'out of man' is 'ishshah'. So we have 'ish' (man) & 'ishshah' (woman, or one coming out of man).

Genesis 2:24: "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." Adam could never fully enjoy or identify with the other of God's creation (animals) as they were unlike him. But once, Ishshah was made, he knew that this was special/different, one he could be at one with for procreation, companionship, care & dependency. Then in Genesis 3:20, Ish changes the name of Ishshah & now calls her 'Chavvah', which means 'Eve', because she would be the mother of all living.
  • God made coats of skins From Commentary on Mark 2 - 4 years ago
    Wesley's Notes for Genesis 3:21

3:21 These coats of skin had a significancy. The beasts whose skins they were, must be slain; slain before their (Adam & Eve) eyes to shew them what death is. And probably 'tis supposed they were slain for sacrifice, to typify the great sacrifice which in the latter end of the world should be offered once for all. Thus the first thing that died was a sacrifice, or Christ in a figure.

Adam or rather Yet Eve broke the 1st Law That God commanded thou shalt not eat of it. So Adam had to eat of it to be with his wife (type of jesus)for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Gen.2:16-17

He eat of it and died a spiritual death that day and was stripped of his Glory coat and the eyes of them both were opened and they knew that they were naked Gen 3:7

And God judged satan and judged Eve and He judged Adam.

And gives the promise of the Seed (jesus) Genesis 3:15

Then God starts to give providence of the seed jesus unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God made coats of skins and clothed them. Genesis 3:21

    The passover lamb jesus

God said in the day you eat of it you will surely die. But that day they did not die But what died that day? A Lamb died a innocent lamb that had done nothing Blood was shed and his skin take off for a covering for Adam and Eve.

The Innocent dying so the Guilty could Live The Cross

They were sentenced to death But a Lamb dies in stead of Adam and eve like. Genesis 22:13

Or we could say they died that day Because one day is with the Lord as a thousand years and no man lived a thousand years 2 Peter 3:8

But I prefer The Passover Lamb Jesus

On HOMOSEXUALITY, SAN FRANCISCO AND GOD"S JUDGMENT

A Gallup pole of the 50 largest Metropolitan area's in the U.S. found that 6.2% of San Franciscans identify as LGBT; which is 2.6% higher than the national average. The survey was conducted between June 2012 and December 2014. The question now is: Would God be able to locate 10 people that are righteous in His eyes ( Gen. 18:32)? We are afraid not, and please remember: he that is 'spiritual' judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man ( 1 Cor. 2:15).

We have served the true and living God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob since 1984 and during those days have learned that this whole world has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9), and that it is a narrow road that leadeth unto 'Life' and few there be that find it ( Matthew 7:14). Also, that mankind prefers darkness over light ( John 3:19), as they serve after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9).

It should be remembered that God's judgment will always prevail and therefore our message remains the same: Ye must Repent.

You need to get a Bible With center of page Reference Columns (tiny alphabet letters). It gives you additional information about each scripture that has one or more.

Abel brought a BLOOD sacrifice to God. (For without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sin).

Cain didn't think about that. He had PRIDE in his offering and felt that was good enough for God. He disrespected God. God rejected his offering and as a result Cain was cursed.

Cains response is to murder Abel.

Adam and Eve were married by God. God performed the first marriage. All Hebrew marriages after that were performed the same way.

Leaves were their idea of quick clothing. Adam knew they had sinned by eating the fruit. It has nothing to do with what someone imagined that Eve (a married woman) did with Satan. He tempted her with food and then power. The very same way he tried to tempt the Lord, Jesus Christ; after 40 days of fasting.

There is no scripture that says Eve and Satan had relations. Adam was heartbroken that Eve had eaten of the fruit and he took a bite because he loved her; he didn't want to be separated from her.

First thing God does is curse Satan. Then He prophesies a future day (at the cross) Genesis 3:15 about her seed: Jesus, bruising satans head.

Then came the prophesy that she and all women would suffer in childbirth.

Back to Cain: Jesus's bloodline DID NOT come through Cain. Eve had another son named SETH, with Adam. By all means go Google a genealogy chart on Jesus so you can see it with your eyes. His bloodline is in the Bible Also. Your Pastor was mistaken.

We, as Gods children bear a solemn responsibility to verify every scripture ourselves, from the KJV Bible...that the Pastor issued on the teaching. If we don't read scriptures slow, and look up all those Center Of Each Page Reference Columns; we may miss out on a gem of Truth.

Take another look at it and tell me what you think.

Eve was tempted with food first.

Satan attacks Jesus after fasting from food 40 days. He tempted with food.

We all need to rein in our appetites. Even me. When the flesh screams starvation.. I just tell it to get thee behind me satan; in the Name of Jesus. Drink some water.

The Bible says that after the 40 days, Jesus was hungry (not thirsty). He drank water.

Fasting makes the body attack the built up glue that is in the G.I. Tract. It eats it off.

That's easy. Fasting from entertainment and media toys is much harder!

Declare your fast. Let the Lord know you're fasting from food, to feast on Gods Word.

As a direct result of religious and made-made doctrines and commandments ( Matthew 15:9; Mark 7:7; Col.2:22), history has proven that mankind does not follow the first three commandments ( Ex. 20:3-7), bur rather follows after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9). History has also proven that this whole world has been deceived as confirmed by the Word of God inRevelation 12:9, and history has also proven that 'Religion' is a deception that Satan is using to transform himself into an angel of light and an apostle of Christ ( 2Cor. 11:13-15).

What is it God has called you to do?

The Bible expressly says women shall not have authority of man in areas of teaching doctrine and spiritual matters ( 1 Timothy 2:12).

1 Timothy 3 speaks of the leadership within the church and how only men shall hold those portions of authority. Bishop (Pastor) is to be a husband of one woman. It does not say the bishop shall be the wife of one man etc. Look at all those masculine pronouns.

The serpent beguiled Eve: 2 Corinthians 11:3, then Eve technically lead Adam to sin, even though he should have known better ( Genesis 3:6).

As you can see in the marriage hierarchy, it goes: God, husband, then woman ( Ephesians 5:24,25).

Man has authority but is not to be a dictator. He is to protect his family and church both spiritually and physically. Any man that does not take into consideration anything a woman says simply because she is a woman, is unscriptural. But there is a biblical time and place for woman to serve. Female pastors are unbiblical. Female teachers (of doctrine etc) is unscriptural if teaching men. A woman is to be taken seriously and to be treated lovingly, but she cannot do everything man does.

Women have and do play a major role in christian faith in many areas including teaching young women and children ( Titus 2:4).

As the above comments show, women can prophesy, which mean they can proclaim Biblical truth. With all things, it must be done according to the Bible.

Do not listen to anybody who says "do not worry about what man thinks." This is not a Biblical mindset as the man is to provide sound, biblical guidance. This does not mean a woman can only get info from men (as earlier in my post).

Also, (brief history lesson) all pagan religions worship a female goddess. Could this also be the reason why God chose man to be the leader of church, family, school etc.?

The Bible was written by a holy an perfect God. THE God of the universe and beyond. What is written in there is truth and should be taken seriously

What did Jesus reply to Satan when Jesus had been Fasting 40 days in the wilderness ??

    It's in the Gospel chapters.

You better have some scripture inside of YOU, to mix with your Faith in Jesus, by way of the Holy Spirit,

iF you are going to pray for someone to be set free from demons. That's a whole big study there! HOW did Jesus DO IT??

We've heard how the disciples didn't do so good their first time out all day long. Know why?

The Holy Spirit hadn't fallen on them yet. They had to wait till Pentecost. But they had seen Jesus do it. Jesus told them: heal the sick , cast out demons, cleanse the leper's. Freely you have received, freely give.

We're supposed to be learning this stuff!

There are many good Teachers on FM Radio you could be listening to. They've all been teaching on Ephesians 6. Demons and spirits are invisible. Can you fight something invisible?

Do you know what your Sword of the Spirit is?? Is it big or little? It is your knowledge of scripture: that is your sword.

David killed Goliath with a rock. But he saw that rock pierce Goliaths head and enter his brain. Goliath blasphemed The God of Israel and David could not stand by and eat all that ridicule. He had a deep relationship with God. That he got by spending time in Gods presence.

When the demons ridicule you.... what have you got to throw at them?

God made clothes for Adam and Eve??

God made a uterus for Eve later, after she'd been created??

How about this one (a prophesy about Jesus spoken in Genesis 3:15). Jesus is going to crush your head, which he did on the Cross!

There's a ton of scriptures you can beat up demons with. Get in the Bible. Quit treating the Bible like public school. You can't use cheat notes on a live demon.

    Mishael
