Also Max, to continue my response to your comment, You will find in Colossians 2 9 "For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily ". This scripture does not say that Jesus dwells in the Godhead with two other beings. This scripture is stating that all the fullness of the Godhead bodily dwells within our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Hello Max, I had answered this question on Saturday, unfortunately it did not get printed. I am trying it again. The prophetic mention of Jesus Christ is in verse 15 in this chapter. If you read verse 14 God is talking with the serpent and in verse 15 God is letting the serpent know or as some scholars say Satan that He is going to put enmity which means settled feeling of hatred or bitter attitude or feelings between Jesus and Satan. The scripture prophetically speaks about Jesus when it states And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed it shall bruise they head, and thou shalt bruise his heel . The woman that is prophetically spoken of here is Mary the mother of Jesus. When it says that her seed this is speaking about Jesus Christ, he will step on the serpent or Satan defeat him and he shall bruise his heel the serpent shall bruise Jesus heel . Other scriptures that pertain to this is found in Revelation 12 17 and Romans 16 20. There was an old song that we used to sing called I am going to step on the devil . Also Max, when you read over in St. John Chapter 1 and your read verses 1 14 you will see that God was the Word, He created all things, and He the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory . If you read over under Acts 2 you will find more answers to your questions.

Max you need to read the Old Testament.
  • Max Sanchez on Genesis 3 - 10 years ago
Christ isn 't even in the Old Testament. He doesn 't appear until the New Testament. Christ wasn 't even born yet. How can you apply Christ Flesh , the Holy Spirit God as a representation of "Let US make man in our image "? That 's plural. God is ALL. You can 't superimpose Christ in Genesis thru the Holy Trinity for the explanation of God being plural. The serpent talked and also when God cursed him "thy belly shalt thou go upon " is implying he either walked or flew before it slithered. Why couldn 't God find them in Eden when he called for them after they ate the fruit? They created them and couldn 't find them in the garden until they made themselves known?? Does anyone question what they are reading or just regurgitating what was told to them?

I believe animals could speak before the fall. No surprise to Eve that the serpent was talking to her. Most people today would run from any snake much less a talking one. Given the statement that the serpent was the "most " subtle goes to say that other animals were "not so " subtle.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the WORD is God. Read Isaiah 45 21 One God, Is Saviour. There is One King and God and Saviour, all in One. Christ is who we focus on and He is God our Saviour. But always pray to the Father through Christ, credentials that you believe that Christ died on the cross for your sins. What a Great and wonderful God we have.

Rhoda Ede that was the Tree of Life speaking to Adam and as you find out through the scriptures and in Rev. the Tree of Life is Christ. God said let us create man in OUR image. God His image Christ speaking to them with Him at the time. Then there was the tree of good and evil, that old serpent the devil.

The scriptures foretells of the coming of the Messiah, Jesus said in John 5,39 Search the scriptures for in them ye think ye have eternal life and they are they which testify of me. God is true to his word and his word did become flesh.
  • Mark on Genesis 3 - 10 years ago
Did Christ exist in Word only in or before the beginning and exist with God and became flesh when born of Mary?
  • Mark on Genesis 3 - 10 years ago
The Word became flesh, does this mean that Christ became flesh in or before the beginning and existed with God and became flesh again when born of Mary?
  • George Hartwell on Genesis 3 - 10 years ago
Verse 1 tells of a talking snake. Obviously, snakes don 't talk, so does this symbolise something. I am trying to make sense of the bible, but when I read it objectively and literally, it doesn 't make any sense.
  • Nova on Genesis 3 - 10 years ago
Christ who sets on the right hand of the Father has been from the beginning and so in verse 22 " the man become as one of us ", Christ must be there with God. Christ is also the Word of whom was a part in the creating of the world. God said in chapter 1 "let us make man in our image ". God 's ways are above ours so it is hard to understand how there is three in one but by faith I believe.

I have questions, Did the serpent know good and evil? Where did the serpent come from? Is the serpent the devil kicked out of heaven? Do the angels know good and evil? Could the "us " be referring to the heavenly host collectively as a whole, such as God and his angels and the Spirit of God that moved upon the face of the waters?
  • Macaphee on Genesis 3 - 10 years ago
You know, I was very young when I FIRST heard Genesis probably 4 or 5 but what I 've always interpreted from it, was that it is very similar to a map a map to shows you how easy it would have been to get to Heaven. But of course, humans have been screwing it up since God put them here! Yet, the miraculous thing is that God always forgives us, no matter how much we cross him, or disobey His commands. We can stray as far as the eye can see, but when we need Him most, He 's a breathe away. I think that 's what God was displaying No matter how rude or unlovingly we treat Him, he wants to get through our chaotic minds, that no matter what we do, He 's by our sides. That 's how we know God loves us.

I have a question. In Genesis 3 22 we read, "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us... " . Who is "us "? This implies more than one.
  • Mark on Genesis 3 - 10 years ago
According to Exodus 33 verse 20 God considers himself to have a face,20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face for there shall no man see me, and live. According to Exodus 33 verse 22 God considers himself to have a hand, 22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by According to Exodus verse 23 God considers himself to have back parts, 23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts but my face shall not be seen. God always had physical form prior to the arrival of his son JESUS.

David W There is only 1 tree that God gave commandment to not eat of, The tree of life was in the midst of the garden and they were allowed to eat of it. In verse 22, The man had already sinned, and now God is giving his judgment, Man must put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever Verses 23 and 24 God kicks out man from the garden and places Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. Today our Tree of life is JESUS.
  • David W Jessup on Genesis 3:22 - 10 years ago
I was taught that Adam and Eve would have lived forever, had they not eaten the forbidden fruit. However we have God 's statement regarding the necessity of keeping them away from the tree of life lest they live forever. Does that not imply that although they might live very lengthy lives eventually they would face death even if they had they had remained obedient to God?

Revelation 12 9 Satan in the garden. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.Note. Satan comes to deceive the world as instead of Christ, antichrist, looks like the Lamb but speaks as the dragon caus he is the dragon.
  • Wow on Genesis 3 - 10 years ago
So the earth was juuuust created and all that stuff to give rise to Satan already happened? I mean it must have if this snake is already there manipulating the situation. Also its interesting how had eve had some knowledge of good and evil before shed eaten the fruit she would have been less vulnerable to this creature.
  • Jim Cape on Genesis 3:8 - 10 years ago
The "Voice " of God walking was God Himself that took upon a form such as that of Melchizedek. Until God used the womb of Mary to become flesh, He made himself known in various forms. But now, in Jesus Christ.

  • Mongo on Genesis 3 - 10 years ago
I think you 're all on something. Nowhere does it state the serpent was the devil satan. It states that by its very nature, the serpent was the most subtle creature. Also note that verse 6 indicates Adam was with Eve the entire time! That 's right he watched her eat the apple, then ate it himself without much encouragment from Eve. No wonder God gave Adam the harshest punishment. He knew what Eve was about to do was wrong, did nothing to stop it and then ate the fruit when she gave it to him. What a doofus.
  • Truth on Genesis 3:8 - 10 years ago
I believe the meaning walking is actually echo. As we all know voices travel and is known as an echo. I believe God spoke to Adam and Eve it traveled through the Garden as an "echo " they heard His voice and hid. As always He knew where they were and got close and personal with them. Just as He does with us. We realize we have sinned and try to cover it up. He speaks directly to us in His Spirit and we ask for forgiveness. But the greatest part of this verse is the "cool of the day ". The same day they sinned, God promised them a Savior for the sin debt. AMEN
  • Marco Hinds on Genesis 3 - 10 years ago
Thank God for redeeming us after we have sold out our estate to the devil. In that act of covering them with animal skin was the first sacrifice, a shadow of the great sacrifice of Jesus
