  • A.R Methula on Genesis 3 - 11 years ago
    On verse one, it states the serpent was more subtil:
    1. Where did he get that more subtilty?
    2. Why is the serpent unable to talk today?
    3. Does the tree of the knowledge of good and evil still exist today?

    @Walt,
    You say: “…gentiles were excluded from Moses covenant until the cross … The four gospels should be part of the Old Testament.” Let’s “zoom out” of Ephesians 2, and take a look at the whole Bible from “an eagle’s eye view”. The plan of salvation did not begin with the Jews; it was conceived before the foundation of the world 1 Peter 1:19. First, it was revealed to Adam and Eve after the fall Genesis 3:15. Then Enoch, Noah and Job preached it. Melchizedek, serving as the priest of the Most High preached it. And finally it was promised to Abraham, in whose seed all the nations would be blessed. The plan of salvation has different stages: It began in the Garden of Eden, continued until the Flood, then after the Flood with Noah and his family until Abraham. The Jewish Nation followed. God’s prophets continued to preach until Christ came, and He continued to preach “the Kingdom of God” until His ascension. After that, the Apostles followed including Paul. The plan of salvation included the whole world from the beginning. Though the shortest, the “Jewish period” period was the most important. But The Gospel of the Kingdom of God was the same from the beginning to “the end”, having at the center Jesus Christ, The Savior of the world. This is what Jesus was trying to explain to His people, when they wanted to kill Him: “Search the scriptures (the Old Testament); for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me” John 5:39. On the road to Emmaus, “beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself” Luke 24: 27. Conclusion: You can’t separate The Old from The New Testament. It is just one message, one plan of salvation, one Christ.

    I really see the sovereignty of God in this chapter. He is involved in all aspects of his creation’s existence. In verse one it begins with God says and God made. And it goes on with God saying and doing. His sovereignty involves speaking and doing. God says and does things in our life now, just as he did with Adam and Eve.
  • Benedict Olatomide Omole on Genesis 3 - 11 years ago
    The voice of God is the word of God and as Adam felt guilty when he heard the voice of God in the garden, because of his deviation into sin and fellowship became interrupted so also a carnal believer will be guilty and uncomfortable when in the audience during the preaching of the word of God. If he were right with God he would not have any cause to feel guilty. Adam was guilty because of sin of disobedience.
  • Charles on Genesis 3 - 11 years ago
    In chapter 2 Adam said, this is bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh she shall be called woman for she came out of man. Chapter 3, Adam blames GOD for giving him a woman, GOD asked him a question did you eat of the tree and he was quick to say the woman that you gave me. This is what happens in marriages that are not GOD fearing, spouses start pointing fingers at one another forgetting that when two people get married they are no more two but one flesh.

    The serpent was Lucifer (the prince of this world, the devil) in disguise; a fallen angel, and is not associated with the earthly beasts that were created in Genesis 2:19.
  • Mas on Genesis 3 - 11 years ago
    @Gary El,
    Yes, the serpent was one of the animals Adam named.
    Genesis 2:19 declares : “And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof”.
    The verse says “Adam called every living creature”, which definitely includes the serpent.
    God bless you.
  • Gary El on Genesis 3:15 - 11 years ago
    What was the serpent? Was it one of the animals that Adam named?
  • Màrklan Green on Genesis 3:6 - 11 years ago
    Adam was not there the conversation was between the serpent and Eve Genesis 3:1-5 when it says “with her they eat together”.
  • Nyishai on Genesis 3 - 11 years ago
    I think that it's the truth.
  • Phyllis on Genesis 3 - 11 years ago
    I believe Every word of God is true. The example of Adam and Eve is that God gave a choice to man in the beginning, to choose life and they disobeyed and listen to the voice of the devil. But God loves man so much that He gave man a second chance to choose life when he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ as a living sacrifice for all. God gave the three of life and the tree of good and evil and they both chose death instead of Life. So now we still have access to the tree of Life which is Christ Jesus. I choose Life. What do you choose? God bless you!

    I have been accused just lately by my step daughter that if I were a good Christian, I would help her and her husband , but their need was caused by a stupid thing they did , they have lied so much to us. We have been used so they can buy drugs, and they have lost their children too because of their habits. I think the verse refers to working the soil, not to be too proud nor lazy to work it, for you were created by GOD from it, and you will become soil again when you die. Your earthly body will return to dust. That is it.
  • Ty on Genesis 3 - 11 years ago
    @Riose,
    There would be no way for man to have attempted to partake from the tree of life. The tree of life is those names that have eternal life. Up to this point Adam and Eve already had eternal life. It is sin that separates us and Satan (the Serpent) knew this. You have heard the cliché knowledge is power.
  • Harry Robinson on Genesis 3 - 11 years ago
    The name Eve means beginning, we all come from a woman. Therefore Eve represents all the nations of the world here. Adam Being Formed of the dust of the earth represents the first Christ. John 1:13-14: Which was born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the word was made flesh. This is not about Eve's sin it's about the world's sin, nor is it about one woman's sin but the world's sin because we all come from her. But it only comes when Moses brought the Law, sin doesn't start here. Romans 7:9: For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
  • Harry Robinson on Genesis 3 - 11 years ago
    In the garden there are two trees (the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil). The tree of Life means to trust in the Lord, up until this point Adam and Eve Lived by faith. The tree of knowledge is the law of God thereby knowing the law makes you a sinner, because now you know what sin is. When Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge they were now following the Law and became sinners. For we live by Faith and not by Sight. To live by faith is the trust in the Lord, to live by sight is to follow the Law. This is the work that Christ had to do, Hebrews 7:18; For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
  • Reggie on Haggai 2:19 - 12 years ago
    The "seed" is Jesus. At the time of Haggai's given prophetic word, Jesus was still in heaven, with the Father. The connotation of "seed" is holy all throughout the scriptures. Genesis 3:15 is the first messianic prophecy referred to Jesus as the "seed", of a woman would come to crush the head of Satan. Paul speaks of the "seed" of Abraham as not being many but one and that "seed" is Christ. The "seed" was literally in a stable on the ninth month twenty fourth day, which after God said, in verse 18, from this day and upward will I bless you. At the writing of Haggai, Jesus was literally, in the storehouse or barn of heaven. Malachi 3:10, 11, but God opened the windows of heaven and sent His son to be the saviour of the world, in due time. After which the rebuke of the devourer ie Satan; began and was manifested on the mount of temptation, where Jesus rebuked him. As yet the vine (Church), fig tree (Israel), pomegranate (Resurrection of Jesus), and the olive oil (Baptism in the Holy Ghost) were not brought forth, for the real laying of the foundation of the glorious eternal Temple of God. Until the "Seed" came, prophesied from Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 53, Psalms 22 and many other scriptures. The "Seed" left heaven and was referred to as "Seed", by Christ himself, in His parables as the "Good Seed" sown, bringing forth much fruit 30, 60, and 100 fold. God said from this day I will bless you. Peace on earth and good will to men, sounds like Christmas to me, the greatest gift ever! Agape. – Reggie.

    @Sophie,
    I don't think it is wise to say that God's creation of women is offensive; he did it the way he chose. I would like to think that we are grand finale of his creation!
  • John on Genesis 4:18 - 12 years ago
    If you look at Genesis 5:4, it states and the days of Adam after fathering Seth came to be 800 years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters. So after Cain and Abel, Adam and Eve had daughters, depending the age of Adam when Cain and Abel, in between the 800 hundred year when Seth was born. So Cain must have left or met one of his sister when he was sent out of the garden thus Enoch was born, this is what I understand by the word “meanwhile” before Seth was born. The early chapter stated Adam was to subdue the earth and multiply so in the early years from Adam we would have been closer to perfection so having intercourse with family met multiplying as the sin are carried in your blood. When you think how a woman was created from a man this could be normal. It could be the almighty’s way of giving his children the ability to create and sustain life. Again in Genesis 3:20, after this Adam called his wife eve because she had to become the mother of everyone living.
  • Sean Murphy on Genesis 3 - 12 years ago
    @Sophie,
    God saw to it that everything was in place and working correctly so that this world age was fit to bring Eve into...and it wasn't really Adam's actual rib bone...the word used in the Hebrew was actually "curve"...God removed the feminine DNA from Adam and gave it to Eve. Helix Curve. God is very disciplined and He has a proper household set up in a particular governmental fashion. Man first because he was physically made to protect the rest of the family, and God likes having one person in the house who is ultimately responsible for the deeds or misdeeds of anyone under that roof. God is not a respecter of persons, and He loves you and holds you up as high as any one of His other children.

    God's word is infallible. We should ask ourselves; when did women begin to wear pants? Does the word 'unisex' ring any bell? What about 'gender equality'? All these came began to surface at the advent of the Feminist Movement of the Twentieth Century which was borne out of supposedly marginalization of the womenfolk. I do not want to go into details. You can do some research on this. My major concern is that the Devil is always opposed to God's word with his infamous "...hath God said..."( Genesis 3:1) but the Church is ignorant of his devices! Women began to wear pants to show that "what a man can do, a woman can do even better"! This is against Scriptures which say women are weaker vessels ( 1 Peter 3:17). This is the way of the world and we are NOT to love it ( 1 John 2:15). A man reacts to what he sees, a woman to what she hears. Today, women have gone out of their way not to wear pants alone, but even to wear 'sexy' pants that only reveal parts of their bodies. This is evil in God's sight and the whole of Christendom should rise up against this device of the Enemy to manipulate the Church. What the Spirit says, he who has ears let him hear! God bless you all.
  • Riose on Genesis 3 - 12 years ago
    In Genesis Chapter 3, I learn that there are two trees that our LORD God is concerned of: The tree of life and the tree to knowledge good and evil. Man ate the fruit of the tree to knowledge good and evil. God decided to drive out man so that he may not eat the remaining tree which is the tree of life which was to make man live for ever. I love the way God's word comes to us that reads it. Amen

  • Yemmy on Deuteronomy 22:5 - 12 years ago
    Why do we have so many hypocrites in the Christendom trying to interpret a simple verse of a whole chapter. Just to suit their darkened mind. All talk had been on pants or trousers. What then do you say about shirts and T-shirts that are been worn by both men and women? Check up on Genesis 3:21. The first tailor who is God Himself clothed both of them alike. Please leave all these jargons and let's move on to perfecting our walk in Christ in this garden of Salvation. Let's work on how to really populate the Kingdom of our Christ by reaching out to the lost. Stop giving heed to all these Jewish Fables, move on to knowing and experiencing the Power of Christ while we await His coming with soberness. God bless us all. Amen
  • Timothy Wayne George on Genesis 3 - 12 years ago
    The first advent of our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ, is in fulfillment of the promise that the seed of the woman would crush the serpents head. While the serpent would bruise his heel. Mary was used by God to bare the Lord Jesus, and she is called the blessed mother of our Lord. This is a great honor for all women. So God has a special place for women in heaven, for there is neither male nor female in the spiritual realm. Jesus at the cross took our sin, and became sin for us so that we could inherit his righteousness by faith. God will present us faultless at the appearing of Jesus Christ when he comes to take his bride out of this world for the marriage supper of the Lamb.
  • Jill on Genesis 3 - 12 years ago
    We (women) weren't created as an afterthought or merely as an extension of man. God created us to fulfill Adam's need for an help meet ( Genesis 2:20). Ephesians 5:22-33 is also a great place to see the love of a husband for his wife. Verse 25 tells it best "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;" Jesus loved us so much that He died for us; our husbands are to love us the same way and should be willing to sacrifice their lives for us as Christ did for mankind. That must mean that God wants men to recognize our value and worth as women.
  • Sophie on Genesis 3 - 12 years ago
    Does anybody else find it offensive that women are created after everything else and out of Adam's rib, as though we are just an extension of men and don't have our own purpose. Adam even got to name us and his wife! Is there any other perspective to read this section from?
  • Barry on Genesis 3:1 - 12 years ago
    A snake can't talk. It was Satan himself, the most beautiful being God ever created, that tempted Eve. Nowhere does it say a snake can talk, nowhere does it say God took away the power of speech from a snake. What other being could have tempted Eve? All the animals had been named and all the animals had been brought before Adam to try to find him a suitable helpmeet but none would do. And out of all the animals, a snake beguiled Eve? It was Satan.
  • Harold on Genesis 3 - 12 years ago
    The covering out of animal skins became first animal sacrifice for covering of sin.
