Since Neanderthal DNA is not found in the roots of Africa, we can only assume the first man may have been white and Eve black. Even Jesus said it is not of our need to know the ways of God and the past or future. God could have made many people in different Islands, but choose to reveal grace and his word to a chosen people. Natural selection made by God, or the mark of Cain, but he went east.

It is my understanding that God is cautioning Cain that if he does sin that "sin" shall rule over him as Adam rules over Eve. If he doesn't "sin" he will receive honor from God.
  • Heather Smith - In Reply on Genesis 4 - 6 years ago
What was he supposed to offer? Cain was a tiller of the ground. It is highly offensive to work hard and not be recognized. According to your perspective, God is ungrateful and a waste of time.
  • Heather Smith - In Reply on Genesis 4 - 6 years ago
Good point. My understanding is that Cain referred to his family that is not mentioned. Remember, the task gave Adam and Eve. He was afraid he would be "subdued".
  • Artie vanlandingham on Genesis 4 - 6 years ago
How could Cain be afraid he would be killed since he was the first son and no other people are mentioned? Is this just Gods choice among all flesh in all continents that failed to be Gods choice to reveal his word? Since Neanderthal DNA is not found in Africa is every Island a different race?

Rexford Gen.4:7 means , here God saying, if we does wrong the sin is at door, means not far from us n it will attract toward us, and it is under our control. sin stays at door, not outside of door nor inside of door, so God left us a choice to decide whether to let sin come inside of door or outside of door, it's up to you.

Able gave a burnt offering.,the one you call God delights in the sweet smell of the fat,who else delights in the smell?YOU, nothing like the smell of a barbecue, yet Cain offered the fruit of the ground which was provided to us for food ,I give you all things for food ,all the trees bearing fruit and herbs from the earth HALLO is there anybody listening

By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh Hebrews 11:4 . For it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul Leviticus 17:11 . Cain s offering of fruit was from the earth which was now cursed and quite unacceptable to God.

To Stan Jett. For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother s righteous. I John 3:11-12 NKJV God rejected Cain because his works were evil.

Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
  • Lauren - In Reply on Genesis 4 - 6 years ago
Stanjett: It's seems likely that God didn't reject Cain's offering because he held back or God doesn't like fruit look at the Feast of Firstfruits where God requests the people to offer their firstfruits to Him , it was because the "fruits of your labor" so to speak are not sufficient to fully appease God. Abel's lamb pointed to Christ, not his own works, and that explains the contrast.

In Genesis 4 we read that sin is a killer. When you read Romans 7:17-20 Paul knew Genesis 4 that sin is a killer. The problem man has is with sin with the devil. All sin is of the devil period 1st John 3:8. The problem with Christianity is that they are walking around with the spirit of the devil believing that it is God when it is not. Jesus came so we can be washed free and clear from all sin.

I always wondered about these also. Cain brought to God first of the fruits of the ground. Did he bring the worse of his fruits. Rotting apples maybe? Kept the good stuff back? I was born on a farm and feel for Cain. I guess I just have to trust in God here but wish He explained it better so I could understand.

what does chapter 4 vs 7 mean?
  • Ethan - In Reply on Genesis 4 - 6 years ago
More modern translations of Bible use the word "Man" instead of "Adam" because Hebrew word used in the original text means "man" but is preserved as the Hebrew word " ha' Adam." Similarly, "Eve" in Hebrew meant something along the lines of "source of life," so doesn't necessarily denote one person named Eve, but may be a metaphor for "females." Could have been more than two people.

where did cains wife come from?
  • Angel E. - In Reply on Genesis 4 - 6 years ago
Incest was prevalent during the genesis of the world, I guess.... and yet, later on there's the "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife."

in the book of jasher and jubilees it talks about adams daughters. they were the wives of cain and abel
  • Adam - In Reply on Genesis 4 - 6 years ago
Three theories I've heard so far... 1. God created more people at same time as Adam and Eve and just didn't happen to share those details 2. Adam and Eve bore more children not discussed- maybe females weren't mentioned. 3. Cain and Seth slept with Eve- the only woman existing? I personally think 1 is the case, because there was a land of Nod and suggests a village or something.

Eve had Children in The Garden( Genesis 3:20) She was The Mother of All Living. Other Translations Changed it to will become.
  • Angel E. on Genesis 4 - 6 years ago
Where did all these wives come from? Bible only speaks of Adam, Eve, Abel, and Cain. And later on Seth... Never did say Eve bear a daughter.
  • Tyler (Pt. 6 of 5)(I miscounted) on Genesis 4 - 6 years ago
6 cont. Sometimes depending on how we question his Word can lead to doubt and I didn’t want Brenda to fall down that path. We also need to concentrate more on what his Word does say. His Word doesn't say anything about Cain’s wife being his sister. Hopefully this will clarify the subject more clearly.
