James: Abel brought The First of his Flock,The Best. Cain did not. In the Process of time, eventually. Cain brought at best, second best. The Lord told him, if he done better he would be accepted.
  • Lu2677 on Genesis 4 - 8 years ago
James Brown, You said they both did their best.V.5God had no respect for Cain's offering,so God did not think Cain did his best. V.7 "if thou doest not well, sin lies at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire (sin desires him), and you shall rule over him." (but God tells him you shall rule over sin.)
This chapter is here because it is the word of God. And sadly we see the first murder.
  • James Brown on Genesis 4 - 8 years ago
I've wondered why that chapter's there
    And why was Abel blest
So was it wrong to till the ground
They both just did their best

It might be that it answers why
Some like us and some won't
    Remember that we're "godlike" men
    God loves us, others won't

So Cain it says was driven out
    And founded all our line
That leaves a lot to be desired
    None call us now divine

Jesus instructs not be called rabbi, Father, or great instructor. He is our everything, as He says. He is the mediator the new covenant. The old covenant is done away. Book of Hebrews.

Thank the Father for the Trinity, as stated by His Son!
  • Bruce on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Irene: One of The Trinity or Adam =4
  • Irene123 on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Bruce - quote, "any of the four .... "? what 'four'?
  • Bruce on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Patsy:She could have heard from it from any of the four.I feel that God let Adam tell Eve of this deadly poison! She knew that they're not allowed to eat of this fruit, she told the serpent that and added to it.Genesis3:1-3 Today,we're told to tell others The Way of Salvation, how to be cleansed from of this deadly poison/--- washed us from our sins in His own Blood, Revelations 1:5/The Light "US"
  • Felicia on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
    For Patsy
God commanded Adam not to eat it. Eve was not yet formed. Gen. 2:16-24 will help you understand it better.
  • A disciple on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
    1. God made Eve for Adam; therefore the woman was the man's responsibility. The commandment to the man then is also to all that is under the man. 2. The children of Israel HAVE NOT been "studying" for thousands of years; but DEFYING, AND DISOBEYING! Do not suggest that anyone go to those who are in disobedience, for spiritual guidance! They have been blinded to knowledge by God till they repent.
  • Patsy on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Did God tell eve not to eat fruit from forbidden tree
  • Sam on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
The jewish people have been studying the old testament for thousands of years. To get insight, true insight may i suggest talking to a Rabbi.
  • Bruce on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
There were many things in the Bible I didn't understand or seemed totally wrong. Just reading The Word every day, going to church five times a week, listening to Christian radio, the puzzle slowly started coming together(years) still there are many???, But that's ok it's His Word and I believe. Genesis 3:20 Eve was the mother of all living(Cain's wife).
  • Brian Matute on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
    Greg,
Genesis 1:26 - God creates man in their own image.
Genesis 2:9 - God creates Adam out of the ground.
God created mankind twice. Cain got his wife from the land of Nod. Were there other people there? We do not know God does not tell us everything in his word. There is time missing from when he creates mankind and Adam.
  • Roy on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Adam and Eve were told to be fruitful and to multiply upon the earth by our Lord. At this time it was brothers and sisters who came together to procreate. Today you would get birth defects because of our sinful nature which is also why we don't live as long. Cain had a mark set upon him by God and he was sent into the land of Nod, which is were he found his mate. (Sister)
  • Greg on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Where did Cains wife come from
  • Irene123 on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
C'mon all us people that DO believe in God and His WORD - let's, IN 'SOFT' answers and LOVE, show the Lord's truth to people ..............

  • Edwin Oraelosi on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Cain the farmer killed Abel the shepherd. God made him a Nomad. Jabal became first of line of Herdsmen and jubal first minstrel. Cain's Descendants dominate the deserts...Arabia and elsewhere.
  • Minister Donald Everage on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Cain wife was one of his sisters. Genesis 5:4 says ; Adam beget sons and daughters. Abraham confess to Sarah been his sister (same father, different mother) and his wife in Genesis 20:11-12. This was permitted before the law. It was stopped by the law(Leviticus 18th and 20th chapters)that came through Moses . Also Jacob was permitted to marry two sisters which was also discontinued by the law.
  • George on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

Where did Cain's wife come from ? Adam and Eve only had two sons before ! Another son after Cain was sent to nod.
  • Leola on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
This is indeed true as stated, Jesus descended out of the faithful bloodline of Seth, which is called the true Jewish bloodline today. This is why the Jews are called God's chosen people, because the Messiah would descend from this bloodline.
There were other people on earth during this time they just were not a chosen people. Many of them had their blood tainted with the blood of fallen angels.
  • Len on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
...another lesson to be derived from ch4 is firstfruits being the desired sacrifice, not only a show of faith in God's providence, but a foreshadowing of Him sacrificing His firstfruit, Christ
  • Michael C. on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Adam and Eve evidently taught their children about everything that happened, and what God had said to them before they had to leave the garden for good, and go out into the world to work out the rest of their lives. One son was of a gentle disposition, and believed his parents; the older son however heard it in a different way; and took his stand with the serpent, instead of hoping for a Saviour.
  • BSP on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
God saw the bad emotion and feeling welling up in Cain and he tried to help him get control of it. Cain disregarded God's warning and he gave into the rage.
  • Stephen F. Zielski on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
PARADOX. Verse 16. Common sense, logic,
  • Michael C. on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Adam and Eve had many, many children; who naturally would marry their siblings and cousins, in the beginning: this was not something perverted or after the lusts of uncleanness, like it later became with the Canaanites; but simply for building families and filling the earth like God commanded them. The races came into being after the LORD scattered them to every corner, for the matter of Babel.
  • Bud on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
Jaylee; It is good to see a young person in the word of our LORD. Keep up the good work and see how far you can go. My only caution is that everyone reads it a little different so prove the scriptures for your self and don't be deceived. Happy reading.
  • Word on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
God created all the races on the 6th day and they were settled over the entire earth hunters and fishermen and their tools are left behind to prove it. Cain found his wife in one of the cities outside and if you know scripture Cain was of the devil and wasn't a part of Adams geology just look at Chapter 5. Gen 3 vs 15 explains the controversy between the seed of Satan and the seed of Eve.
  • Jaylee on Genesis 4 - 9 years ago
