Not everything is a metaphor. Most of the Bible gives history of real places, names, dates, tribes. The flood is literal and there's scientific evidence of it. It was completely dark in the ark and he animals likely hibernated so they didn't eat or poop the whole time.

Mommy you may see a boat being built to save people but I see a church. You may see animals entering the boat, but I see people whose SPIRITS or behaviors are like unto animals . You may see Noah gathering food to keep all the animals and his family alive. I see Noah gathering FOOD FOR THE SOUL. Don't ask me of I don't believe the Bible. What I don't believe is that people do NOT understand story
  • Linda Templet - In Reply on Genesis 7 - 5 years ago
What I am saying is GOD IS A SPIRITUAL Being that lives INSIDE of your body. I believe every word the Bible says. Noah was a PREACHER of Righteousness. Spirit is the thinking, feeling, motivating part of man. You can not understand what the Bible is trying to teach you if you keep mixing physical things with spirit things. Some people act like ANIMALS before they were saved--are they animals? NO?

Are you saying you don't believe what the Bible says?
  • Linda Templet - In Reply on Genesis 7 - 5 years ago
But did you notice this? God told Noah to gather all the food to be eaten for his family, every animal, bird and creeping thing to keep everything alive. Think about that a minute. Now think about this. After animals eat they want a DRINK of WATER. What do they do after that? They go to the bathroom. Noah only had 1 window--Do you all understand what you are reading? I don't think so, THINK!

Sacrifice? In the verse that you reference don't show provision of sacrifice. It is true that sacrifices were practiced. How do you know that God didn't simply grant them a reprieve?

20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail and the mountains were covered. 15 cubits is not but 22.5 feet. I got trees taller than that. Maybe it means AND upwards. More that 15 cubits.

I especially like the comment by ACM where he/she has us to notice verse 16 - The Lord Shut Them In. I noticed that in the bible years ago - not Noah, but God wanted us to know that HE closed the door, and we know that door could not be opened without him. Also it lets us know that when God takes his church (those that are ready) out of the earth that it will be powerful.

Verse 1~Jehovah God took special note of Noah's righteousness and he was going to reward him and his family by preserving them through the flood.

    2
Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
Now Moses, who wrote this knew what animals was clean or unclean, but how did Noah know? I don't think Noah had to know. For God brought the animals to the ark and made them go in.

One of the most important verses in this chapter is 16 which say that the Lord shut Noah in. God gave Noah and his lot protection and shut him in. If the arc is shut from outside they have to wait for God to open from outside when it is safe to do so. God is patient with us. We need also to learn patience from Him.

He took Male and Female of All The Unclean=2. Of The Clean He Took 3 Males and 3 Females. 6 1 One For a Sacrifice =7 (Verse 2,3 and 9).

I think people are missing what the bible tells us in this chapter. Look ! -
Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
    3
Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
to me that looks like 8 pairs of each species on the ark

These are great preparation and renewal scriptures for everyone to meditate on before the second coming of Jesus.

...to cathy...love ur comment...to all who wonder about cain,he is nine generations removed from the flood and was probably deceased...if not,he perished in the flood ordained by God,not of man's hands

7:1- "Come thou" reminds me of the Precious Invitation Of Our LORD and Saviour JESUS CHRIST, Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come unto ME, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take MY yoke upon you, and learn of ME; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For MY yoke is easy, and MY burden is light
The Ark is a Picture of CHRIST-SAFETY!

Adrian, there are many years between Cain, the son of Adam
  • Adrian on Genesis 7 - 6 years ago
    So what happened to cain?
  • BSP on Genesis 7 - 6 years ago
Verse 1~God took notice of Noah and his family's righteousness. It was not in vain that Noah stayed faithful to Jehovah God and it is not in vain to be faithful to God today.

As the days of Noah were,so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,And the did not know until the flood came and took them all away,SO ALSO WILL THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN BE.
  • Leigh Hunter on Genesis 7 - 6 years ago
    Whoops! Wrong Cain.
  • BSP on Genesis 7 - 6 years ago
Verse 11~I really admired the fact that Noah stayed faithful to Jehovah God for hundreds of years and not just a few years. He is an excellent example in endurance that we can imitate.

Yes. Cain died. Genesis 7 vs 21 ...and the mountains were covered....all flesh died that moved upon the earth...and every man. Genesis 7 vs 22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
  • Sonia burke on Genesis 7 - 6 years ago

"For yet seven days...and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth." Vain man thinks that he is immortal, right up until the day his soul departs. The sign that God has given the world is Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. As they make light of it and squander their precious time, so God removes His restraint, and the transgressors come to the full.

"For yet seven days, and I WILL cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth." While multitudes are feverishly scanning the internet for every latest evil secret revealed, they think that by their little News sites they will be able to fight back what God pronounced MUST BE for Him to come!
  • A disciple on Genesis 7 - 7 years ago
"And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation." Up until the mid 1960's the remains of the ark could be seen on Mt. Ararat in Southern Turkey/Armenia: a stunning testimony of the fact, that ONE DAY WILL BE THE LAST DAY FOR THIS PRESENT EVIL WORLD! And the Word which God has spoken is what will judge us all!
  • Ann on Genesis 6 - 7 years ago
Genesis 7:13 tells us who went into the ark. Amen.

Donna Cromb; You asked how I "came up with" 1656? Just add the number of years that Moses wrote. Adam 130 Seth 105 Enos 90 Cainan 70 Mahalaleel 65 Jared 162 Enoch 65 Methuselah 187 Lamech 182 Noah 500 = 1556 100 years building the Ark (the 600th year of Noah's life) = 1656 After the Creation was the Cataclysm. Adam died 46 years before the birth of Noah. Enoch Preached 687-987.
