One thing i dont understand is if the sea animals also were destroyed in the flood because i didnot read where God told Noah to bring in sea animals also

Hey KS Ready good eye examination of the Bible up to Noah and the flood Yes God doesn t command anyone how to behave he gave one rule to Adam and Eve don t eat the firbidden fruit As a result of breaking that commandment all men and woman obtain the knowledge of good and evil We are all born that we live and understand good and evil it is as natural to us as learning how to eat or wanting to protect our children The people in Noah s era knew what was right and what was wrong The flood is such a big part in the Bible because it shows for the first time God delivering absolute justice to all mankind
  • Neal on Genesis 7:2 - 10 years ago
Seven pairs of clean animals (14 of a kind) and two of each unclean. Two pairs! That's 4 animals of each kind, not two. No one gets this right. Yet it is written clearly. So what else do we have wrong? Most likely everything we hold as true.
  • K S REDDY on Genesis 7 - 10 years ago
God destroyed every thing except Noah's family and some animals/creatures/birds.The reason is they are evil, violent, wicked etc Up to chapter-7 nothing said about how they have to behave.

"And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven were covered." Genesis 7:19

If man tried to escape the flood waters and ran to the high hills - he could not escape. If there was a global flood today, man with his knowledge and technology may would escape to the moon, or, the space station; or, fly around in space till the waters receded. Yet, though man can go into space, he is still earth dependent. Those in space cannot survive but for so long without those on earth and without those things put here on earth for man. Man is dependent on earth for his physical life.

I did leave some information out however that is the truth however there is a way to see it even clearer than that but I will not reveal that to you for you deserve the Holy Spirit and you deserve your crown..

This is the first destruction of all the living soul’s on earth with the exception of Noah and his family because. Gen 7:1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Gen 7:15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life. Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Adam was something new that God had created on the eighth day and in him (breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.) Rom. 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. So if it’s hard to believe that all life died in the flood you can believe. Gen 7:22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. Gen 7:24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

Junel Gen 9:28 And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.
Diane Jauber Gen7:7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
  • Diane Jauber on Genesis 7:15 - 11 years ago
Does this mean that other people as well went into the ark in verse 7:15? They went with Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh in which is the breath of life.
  • Yvonne on Genesis 7 - 11 years ago
Noah lived approximately 50 years after the Flood.

Noah was 600 years old when the Flood started. ( Genesis 7:6)
"And the rain was upon the earth 40 days and 40 nights." ( Genesis 7:12)
Flooding lasted over 300 days ( Genesis 8:13 and using prior verses to establish timeline.)
Noah lived to be 950 years old. ( Genesis 9:29)
    (600 years + 300 years = 900 years. 900 years + N years = 950 years. N = 50 years.

how Long Noah Live, after the Flood?
  • _Rosalina_Sayson_Ko_Tapay_ on Genesis 7 - 11 years ago
The wisdom in the book of Genesis Chapter 7 are these: God regarded Noah as RIGHTEOUS in HIS sight in that generation ( Genesis 7:1), that God did not spare to save all living things and substances upon the face of the earth for the destruction of the wicked people saving the RIGHTEOUS man Noah only who remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark ( Genesis 7:2-24). THEREFORE: God spare His mercy, salvation, and deliverance, to those RIGHTEOUS men who worship HIM.

In reference to one of the above comments which stated, "The Lord will not show mercy to those who don't earn that mercy". I pray tell me, which one of Adam's children can claim the merit of having earned God's mercy? If we had to earn it, then it would not be mercy, God would merely be paying a debt He owes ( Romans 4:4). Besides, who can give anything to God so as to earn anything He gives? Absolutely none. (See Romans 11:35-36). Mercy is a manifestation of God's grace to the undeserving.....like me. I thank God it is based on His goodness and not my labor, thus I have hope.

    Mrs. Noah....
  • Timothy Wayne George on Genesis 7 - 11 years ago
Mrs. Noah was the name of Noah's wife. The most important part is that she followed her husband, and was one of the eight souls saved from the Flood.
  • Laura on Genesis 7:13 - 11 years ago
    what was Noahs wifes' name?
  • Gmoney$$ on Genesis 7 - 11 years ago
To K S REDDY. To answer your question, He really is. He showed that by sparing Noah. People then (and now) were evil, corrupted, selfish and had no faith in the Lord. That said, the Lord will not show mercy to those who don't earn that mercy. Fact is, the only reason the Lord hasn't flooded the Earth a second time is because He promised Noah and all mankind He would not.

And as such, show His mercy and grace.

    Amen!

7:31 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark*** Then how is it GOD benevolent and Mercifull.

Leviticus 11 should answer your questions of clean and unclean beasts acoording to the Law of Moses.
    Leviticus 11:1-8

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.

3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is cloven footed, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.

4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.

8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.

  • Sipho on Genesis 7 - 11 years ago
"2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female."

So i'm wondering which clean beasts these were that had to go into the arc in sevens whilst unclean ones went in by twos. Any thoughts? Ideas?

    Hi Dylan,
In fact there are not 2 creations of man (and woman) in the book of Genesis, but one which took place in Genesis 1:27. God then created them male and female in His own likeness.
Now in Genesis 2, God did not create man the second time, but just formed man (body), because what man’s body is made of was already created when God created the heavens and earth, Genesis 2:7.
Which means Genesis 2:7 just completes Genesis 7:26-28 where God created the spiritual side of man, which creation no one can explain; yet in Genesis 2:7, God gives a body to that spiritual man, a body God formed from already existing natural elements. But that was simultaneous, it is only the count that separate them.
    God bless you.

    @WIll,
Man is inherently evil and his thoughts are only continuously evil. Babies are only saved by Grace, and children are not as pure and perfect as you think. From the ages before two, they know instinctively what is right and wrong. I have seen it in my own child, and others children.
  • J.R. on Genesis 7 - 11 years ago
    @Bruce,
Are you sure about the fact that the Tigris and Euphrates are both in the Middle East. I have had the blessing (and been lucky to live) to have seen them both.
  • Anandpaul on Genesis 7:20 - 11 years ago
I am really privileged to study this chapter.
  • Bruce on Genesis 7:20 - 11 years ago
The flood was global, but did not rise up over the mountains, such as Everest. The Garden of Eden, Adam down to Noah did not take place in the Middle East, but that is where the Ark rested. Noah and his sons named the new places after the old.
  • Steve on Genesis 7 - 12 years ago
God always gives people choice to choose life or death, like the days of Noah He gave them opportunity to enter the arch and be saved from the flood. We have also been given opportunity to choose Jesus Christ the Son of God.
  • Armyork gwinji on Genesis 7 - 12 years ago
Instead of fellow men entering the ark that Noah had built, animals crept in two by two. The animal kingdom obeyed God's voice whilst men chose otherwise. Sin can blind you, enshroud your thinking until you cannot hear even a simple instruction from God. Yet nature lives in perfect harmony with God's word. It’s just a matter of choice. That ark was meant for men but Noah's toil for 120 years was all in vain. Besides his family, only animals responded. Luke19:40, And He (Jesus) answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these (disciples) should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
  • Arthur on Genesis 7 - 12 years ago
Noah wasn't 600 when the waters came, he was in his 600th year. He would have been 599.
  • Frank on Genesis 7 - 12 years ago
Let’s all remember that God commanded that male and female of all flesh went into the Ark. Even the man from the 6th day creation went in. That is what I believe.
