Nereid, good question I will attempt to answer it by looking at the work and nature of God in Scripture concerning His creation. Adam named Eve that name because it mean the mother of all living earlier in Genesis. I don 't believe God would allow Adam to name her that if the name didn 't mean exactly that. With this understood Eve must have also been the mother of Cain 's wife therefore he married his own sister. Not to attempt to put any limitations on God for He could just made another women but that appear to be inconsistent with His order of creation. We also know that the bible record little about women and their lives it focus primary on the men and their lives and deed. Therefore, though Cain and Abel were the first men born to Adam and Eve they could have had and proable did have daughters which would be older than the men. They or she could possible have moved to the land of Nod where Cain was sent to find them or her. I believe this is more consistent with the Scripture. God bless us all and the understanding of his Word.

The commandment to blessed stated in books of number 6: 23-26, God command Aaron to bless the children of Israel, God want he children to be blessed , isa 44:26 God him self conform the word of his servant, he also delight in prosperity of his children. This commandment is from heaven that children of God must be blessed. He declared in book of Genesis 1:28, Genesis 9:7. We must learn to pronounce blessings upon our children, business, carriage, every thing we possessed. The word of our mouth are so powerful, Job 22:28, when we decree a thing, it will surely come to pass. We are command to bless all ways and not to curse, let us lean on how speak healing word, breakthroughs word, word of restoration, word of encouragement to family members, neighbors, friends etc, jer 5:14, when you speak the word of God this word become power and fire and work wonder. We must continue to bless and God will continue to confirm it. The blessed in Gen 24:60... our month must be a source of life and death.... the spirit of blessings most possessed our lips.

GEN 9-20...It 's only one person 's opinion, but I believe when God communicated through the Holy Spirit His Holy Word to Moses, in His writing of Genesis, he was given only a brief outline of what had taken place in the beginning, actually this is the case throughout the entire Bible, I believe their is a logical reason, first the Word says that all mankind was given a measure of faith and it was up to man 's free will as to how he apply it, secondly, if you picture God for a moment, as a human King, this King would give out his orders, decree 's or proclamations getting right to the point of the subject leaving out the details, mostly because, that is the Kings prerogative, it 's no body 's place to question the King! Right, another point is, if every detail had of been recorded, the book would be more than a person could read in a lifetime, So, the Holy Spirit impressed Moses and the other Prophets writings to write down the Highlights and leave out the details, unless it was absolutely necessary to include them, and I suppose the last thing I want to say is this: God is a Creator, and as a Creator, He creates, would it be beyond God to create a woman and place her in Nod where Cain went, I 'm not saying He did, but we being the created beings can not place our limitations on the Almighty GOD. Their is definitely more to the story than meets the eye. PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE GREAT CREATOR YAHWEH AND HIS HOLY YESHUA KING OF KINGS. AMEN!!

I believe after we chose evil rather than live in Paradise with God we had to find our own food, and killing and eating an innocent animal was an innovation of the barbarians to feed themselves. In Paradise, food was everywhere without any killing to be done. And when Jesus returns the "Lion WILL lay down with the Lamb " and no more killing will again occur. Cultivating fruits, berries, nuts and vegetables takes love and care. Hunting destroys another living creature which gives evil pleasure. I believe a great deal of the bible, but I think we need to always consider the context in which it was written and by whom. What perspectives were at the time. These were hunters that wrote "God said I can eat the animals too. " Jesus taught us to seek His peace and cause no harm, share love with one another. I believe this extends to all living creatures. After all, Jesus liberated women from inside their homes to follow Him to the hills and streets, which went against the current norm. I measure any writing to the teachings of Jesus. He came to save us all....ALL God 's creatures.

Hello Kenneth E. Morse: No there was only one man and one woman in the Garden of Eden. However, one can deduce that Adam and Eve produced many children beside Cain, Abel, and Seth after they were kicked out of the Garden. After the flood and God destroyed all of mankind except the 8 members of Noah 's family then the world was repopulated by Noah 's sons, Genesis 9: 19 "These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread ". A woman can have many children if the Lord blesses her womb. To the wife of Feodor Vassilyev gave birth to 69 children.

Hello Vireen I am sorry. I thought you were asking about Cain. This is why I wrote addressing that first. However, if they all get printed today or tomorrow, I did address your question.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Genesis 9 - 9 years ago
Hello Vireen Oh, please reread my response to Catlin. You will find the answer to what Canaan did to Noah. Also I guess you can say that he was Bi sexual we do have them today as well. However, this still does not negate the fact that Canaan did something to Noah. If you are questioning that fact that Canaan had produced children how could he have done something like this? Well how many homosexual people you know that get married produce children and then divorce their spouses for someone else. Canaan descendants are called the Canaanites, Genesis 10 15 thru 19.

Hello Vireen In conjunction with the 3 part answer that I gave to your question, in regarding Canaan, his father was Ham. Genesis 9 18 And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth and Ham is the father of Canaan . He was not begotten by Satan. It clearly states that Ham was his father. It does not say that Ham was begotten by Satan. It clearly states that Noah was Ham s father. After the flood the Earth was populated by Noah s three sons. In Genesis 9 18 19 And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth and Ham is the father of Canaan. These are the three sons of Noah and of them was the whole earth overspread .

Part 3 of 3 We cannot even say that any of the women that were on the Ark came from Cain because the Bible does not speak of the women, telling us about their lineage or where they came from. We can deduce that they came from Adam and Eve since we can deduce that Eve had more than just the three boys. Based on the fact that Jesus Christ human blood line came through the blood line of Abraham, David on down through to Mary his mother then where is Cain s lineage? The flood killed every human except those 8 people on that Ark. This included Cain s lineage. Please read Jesus Christ human blood line in Matthew Chapter 1.

Part 2 of 3 It is most unfortunate that some ministers have preached prejudice and hatred for a people based on their belief that Cain was begotten by Satan therefore they believed that some people of our generation is from him. However, this is just not true. Remember Adam and Eve both ate off of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Their minds were opened up to good and evil as well. Man with or without Satan influence has a choice to do right or to do wrong. Because the nature is always present. As humans we make decision every day to do that which is right. Some choose to do evil. Does this mean that they were begotten by Satan or that their descendants are from Satan?

Part 1 of 3 Hello Vireen There are no descendants of Cain. Look at it like this. Remember when Cain left his family and went off and was as a vagabond, Genesis 4 11 thru 14. After many generations the flood came. The only people that were saved were Noah, his wife, and Noah s three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth and their three wives. There were only eight people that were saved out of the whole world at this time, 1 Peter 3 20 Who sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water . Noah came from the blood line of Seth. When Seth had Enos this is when men began to call on the name of the Lord. Read Genesis 4 26 and then Read Chapter 5.

Hello Caitlin, according to Jewish customs, laws, and practices you are not supposed to uncover the nakedness of a loved one in certain situations you can read in Leviticus Chapter 18 which deals with unlawful marriages and unlawful lusts. The studies show in Leviticus that the words uncover their nakedness means sexual act of some kind. Some scholars say an indication of a sexual act or voyeurism or showing no respect. We can speculate all day, but the truth of the matter is to see ones father nakedness was a sin. It shows no respect therefore Ham did not preserve the dignity of his father. This is what Ham did that was very wrong. Now as far as Canaan, I had one minister explain that Canaan committed the act of sexual assault on Noah. Ham must have found out about it went into his tent without showing proper respect to his father by looking on his nakedness. When Noah woke up and found out what his younger son had done unto him he cursed him. Genesis 9 24 25. And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. Now Noah was not talking about his younger son which was Japheth. He was talking about Ham s younger son which was Canaan. If you read over in Genesis Chapter 10 the lineage you will see the order in which they were born and Canaan was the youngest son that Ham had. This further validates that Homosexuality was not tolerated even in Noah s days. The studies show in Leviticus that the words uncover their nakedness means sexual act of some kind. In the end there is still debate going on about this.

I do not know what happen to my comment, but I like these passages of scriptures, especially verses 11 to 17 because it talks about how God created and placed the bow in the sky, which is the rainbow we see as a token to remind him of his covenant not to destroy the Earth with water again. He did not say it would not flood from time to time but he would not destroy the entire Earth with water again. When I see the rainbows I thank God for remembering his covenant with Noah and with us.

This is just my thoughts to answer the question posed What did Ham do wrong? I can only gather that he looked on his father 's nakedness without diverting his eyes and then rather than cover his father which would be a way of honoring his father by covering his father 's shame he went out of the tent and "gossiped " it to his brothers. He should have covered his father and walked out of the tent saying nothing to anyone else thereby not causing his father further shame. If he had done that there would have been no sin upon him and left Noah to repent to God for his drunkeness and as he noted when the other two boys covered him while keeping their gaze away from their father 's shame and Noah came to know of what he had done wrong he would have done the same if Ham had covered his father. The difference being his shame would have been contained between Ham and Noah as it should have been.

You know what stands out the most in these passages of scriptures for me, is that the beautiful rainbow that appears sometimes after it rains is the covenant that God made with man and every living creature on the earth that he would not destroy this earth with water next time nor will he cut off all flesh. Verses 12 to 16. So whenever I see a rainbow I thank God that he remembers his covenant. Now I know someone will say that we still have floods. This is true, however the flood that God was saying that he would not do again is the flood that he covered the whole Earth with and destroyed all manner of living creatures except those that were on the ark. He never said he would stop the rain. Some of the floods that we are experience in our time are man made due to poor sewer systems and other things.

What Do You Think of Genesis 9 27 Yes it is spiritually true about Shem s God becoming Japheth s God However It s the tents in question HERE so my thought is to just READ it and then ask WHO s TENTS are they Shem s Now we re getting somewhere I could build a case but I ll let you do that Shem s the LANDLORD to Japheth the TENANT in his God given expansion God shall enlarge Japheth and he shall dwell in the Tents Don t be angry but if YOU would just follow the MONEY throughout HISTORY you will find out whose tents that YOU dwell in If you missed it I m sorry I said it

Are you kidding me? Are not the so called Jews of the Tribe of Ashkenaz which is of Japheth? Or am I reading the Scriptures wrong? The 12 tribes - Judah being one - is of Shem. Two different lineages.

God curse cain and put a mark on him that no one would kill him , but it doesnt state what that mark was so why is it that Noah curse his son Ham the father of Cannan and we assume it was changing the race color.
