    This is the point. The Church (God's saved people) as a body, would cease to exist if each member could just go it on their own and do whatever one liked. Pretty soon, it becomes more important to go to the ball game instead of meeting for worship. Any other distraction that replaces meeting with the saints for the purpose of worship leads away from Christ. Our one desire should be Him, not our desire to go to the beach or shopping, festivals, sports, etc. This will make for a weak walk and will eventually lead one away from Christ.

    It is important to also remember that when we ***emble, that is for the purpose of worship- and to keep the commandment and institution of the Lord's Supper and the sacrifice He made. Kinda hard to do these things when you are busy with worldly pursuits. Meant for your thoughtful consideration.

    As with all of the scripture, this verse needs to be interpreted within the context of what the writer is addressing. My understanding of this letter is that it is addressing Hebrew believers who, enduring great persecution, were returning back to the practices of Judaism. This is one of the reasons why the writer is spending so much time expounding the surp***ing excellency of Christ and the New Covenant in comparison with Moses and the Old. My understanding of this particular p***age is that the writer is not merely addressing a falling into sin or even the willful choice to sin (is not all sin, a choice of the will?). Instead, I believe the writer is addressing the forsaking of the faith in Christ and returning to the Jewish faith. If we look at it that way, it would be easy to understand that 'there remaineth no more sacrifice for sin because the only effectual sacrifice is that of Christ on the cross which the apostate has abandoned and to return to the old order is to go back to a mode of sacrifice which has been rendered ineffective in that the sacrifices of the old order have been replaced by the sacrifice of the Lamb of God. In short, to turn away from the New Covenant is to reject the only effective means of the cleansing of sin and be left with no means for cleansing whatsoever.

    I do not believe that it says you can not repent and if/when you do and are still alive that means
    you are not continuing to sin if your repentance is sincere. I choose to believe that it is never too late for sincere repentance to save you by the
    blood of Jesus.

    I think all Bible readers agrees that there is no contradiction of all the p***ages, so if our conclusion has a contradiction even one verse of the Bible I think the conclusion is wrong. The name Jesus Christ, is the Mighty God is 100% God & 0% human. Supporting verse Number 23:19. The name Jesus is incomplete. The True name of God is the name Jesus Christ. This name is the New Name of our Heavenly Father name in the New Testament. Even if no verses in the Bible talked this name is a True God. But the following verses testified that this name Jesus Christ is a True & Great God. Mat. 28:18, Jh. 5:22, ICor. 5:10, Tito 2:13, Heb. 1:8, IPet. 1:17 & IJH. 5:20..

    The Trinity is somewhat beyond our comprehension. As an analogy, I picture our own bodies. We have a right arm and a left arm and both are part of our body. Per God, we have our Father God, Jesus who is God, and the Holy Spirit which is God as well.

    Remember that Jesus was 100% human and 100% God. The human side could be tempted, yet being God, He did not fall into the temptation.

    If Jesus is God, who God's God? Jesus does the same thing at Revalation 3:12. where he mentions his God. Again, I ask, who is God's God? Does the Holy Ghost have a God too, or just Jesus?

    For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. Awesome verse! The Corinthians were yet carnal when Paul wrote them the first letter, spiritual maturity doesn't happen at once. God disciplines us. John 15:3-5:
    3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
    4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
    5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
  • DAVID on Leviticus 11:31 - 11 years ago
    This is real! The word of God is real. I know because I was once sinner and saint, slave and free, clean and unclean! God is trying to keep us clean and pure, so this is good still for today, in fact, it is a must to obey the law/or command of God, even for the good of life, or the truth of life. God sent Jesus Christ to fulfil the law and the prophets, not to diminish/or destroy them ( Matthew 5:17). But a new covenant has God the father made ( Jeremiah 31:31-34, Hebrews 8:7-13), and with God the son have he made it ( Hebrews 10:16)... A new covenant God the father made with us, but not to destroy the law and prophets!!

    The Gentiles are not included for the forgiveness/redemption of sin in the blood shed of our Lord Jesus Christ. Gentiles’ forgiveness of sins is heartily believing the son of God named Jesus Christ. Verses to support Matthew 9:2 and Acts 10:43. Most Christians denominations teach that the blood shed of our Lord Jesus Christ is for the forgiveness of sins. They always preach this Gospel without verses in the bible to support their saying. Absolutely, forgiveness of sins through the blood of Jesus Christ is only given to the Jews/Israel nation. Supporting verses, Psalm 130:7-8. Israel nation was redeemed and the fulfilment of Psalm 130:7-8 is in Hebrews 9:15.
  • David on Hebrews 10 - 11 years ago
    I believe every sin can be forgiven, except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit which is the power of God of that saves us. In Mathew 12:31, Jesus says every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven, except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Hebrews 10:29 says that people have trampled the son of God (by rejecting the Son of God and blood that was offered through the power of the Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead). Many Jewish Christian (who were grounded in Christ) of the first century, thought about returning to the Jewish faith. Some of Jesus teachings didn’t line up with the teaching of the rabbis. They questioned if Jesus was really was the Messiah. These Jewish converts were being persecuted. They did not want give up old Jewish traditions and forms of worship. And they thought that keeping the law would save them. They continued to sin by offering sacrifices in the Law of Moses instead of believing the sacrifice that Christ made at cross. The scriptures cannot say that we commit sins. We are saved because he died for all our sins, past, present, and future. Romans 3:23, for everyone has sinned and is fallen short of the Glory of God. 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins. Johns 3:16 says God so loved the world that gave his begotten son that whoever believes will not perish. So the sin that the writer is dealing with in this passage is unbelief in the power of God to save you. The sin of unbelief of Jesus Christ redemptive work on the cross is the sin that cannot be forgiven (unbelief of the power of the Holy Spirit). These Jewish converts witnessed many miracles of God and still did not believe in Jesus.

    We automatically do not want to believe that these things are not true like the powers of darkness are not larger than life. We seem to forget that Leviathan is in Job 41 described as a huge sea monster as well as in other parts of the Bible. In Genesis 6 the angels mated with women and had giants and not all of them died. Those kids according to the Book of Enoch and the Neanderthal bones that have been found show that those kids were not normal. The Bible speaks of dragons over 16 times. Whether that was dinosaurs or something else we may never know. Apocrypha means hidden. These were hidden to be shown to a generation that would believe and when all these things would come back. Just DO NOT FALL TO THE GNOSTIC FOOLISHNESS! They were not put in the Bible because the knowledge of these books, though a good read, cannot save ones soul. Not because they are not true. I would be careful on what I say whether it is fake or not about these books. The old Rabbis that studied them believe they were real. If they are the true Word of God then they are Him Hebrews 10:7; John 1:1, 14 and we would be blaspheming if we said they were false Mark 3:28, 29. The Gnostic Books like Adam and Eve, Book of Judas, Mary Magdalene etc... the Rabbis did not believe were inspired by God. All scripture in the King James Version of the Holy Bible (along with the Book of Enoch) is inspired by God (2 Timothy3:16) who cannot lie Titus 1:2. God Bless in Jesus Name.

    @Leslie,
    "What is the Truth?" Jesus Christ says “I am the Way, The Truth, and The life". Listen to Jesus and not man for His sheep hear His voice. Those who teach the Ten Commandments are not His sheep. We are now under Grace and not the law. If you are still under the law, you have fallen from Grace, and Christ has died in vain.
  • DAVID on Proverbs 1 - 12 years ago
    What strikes or hits me is that, this word is real! Do what it say, and watch God do what he says! Verse 30, for example, they would none of my counsel, they despised all my reproofs. But do this and listen to God’s word, then watch your owns ways change. But you have to do this with your heart! Because this is what God looks at, and takes seriously. Verse 31, therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own wickedness! Verse 23, thus saith God, turn you at my reproof (counsel)! Behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you! Do this, and see God really lead you and guide you and tell you more than what the people go to church or worship building know. Because you are his people and he is your God through Jesus Christ! If your heart troubles you, God is greater than our heart and knows all things, but there is no man, stepping up then goes back, such an one is not fit for the kingdom of God ( Luke 9:62)! Or if any man draws back, God's soul have no more pleasure in him ( Hebrews 10:38). I know people think we should try to live the bible as best we can, but God said, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds or comes forth out of the mouth of God ( Deuteronomy 8:3, Mark 4:4, Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4). God is not playing with us when he came through Jesus Christ! God is with us for truth and righteousness, and to heal and raise us from the dead. Because his enemies are real, God through Jesus Christ also is real! But there are more of the enemy then of the truth or spirit of God! Because the enemy deceives us with the fancy, glittery things, and the things that are pleasing to the eyes, to trick us, and this he does well, but for destruction and hell! God sent his son servant here to deliver us from the fallen spirits, and to raise us up with truth and healing and strength. But many despise God’s wisdom, and rather believe the or a lie ( Romans 1:23), but while we stop and believe the lie, God keeps moving and leaves us behind, and says; unless you repent, you shall likewise perish ( Luke 13:3). My name is David Brown I'm living true witness, because Jesus Christ made me so, and to expose the lie and lay the truth, even if no-one wants to hear it!
  • Mark on Hebrews 10:26 - 12 years ago
    The author of Hebrews is talking to the Hebrews of that time. They were under many different types of persecutions and were going back to the synagogue (not assembling with the Christians) and repeating the same old mosaic sacrifices that never where able to remove sin. He explains this to them before Hebrews 10:26 after announcing to them that they were still spiritual infants only able to take milk and not yet able to eat solid food (meat). He tells them that by now, since the first time he educated them about Jesus, they should be teachers, not still infants. He explains the difference between Christ's one true offering and the old offerings (a shadow of the good thing to come) that only covered sin until the messiah came. After he told them about the one, true, and final offering, he summed it up with Hebrews 10:26. For if we sin willfully (continue sacrificing), it will lead to the same end that the law was always going to lead them to. He's telling them to put their faith in Jesus' offering. Then in Hebrews 10:29, he reiterates by telling them how bad it will be for those who look at Jesus' blood atonement as unholy (no different than the old sacrifices or a common thing). So, you see he's pushing the point that Jesus is the final payment for sin. Stop making more payments. It shows you don't believe his payment fulfilled the obligations of the covenant (contract). It shows you don't believe the period we are in.
  • Mas on Psalms 125 - 12 years ago
    @Lufs,
    Verse 5 means those that follow wicked ways because of life difficulties and pressures shall face the consequences of evildoers. No matter what the sufferings, God shall not allow the ‘’rod of the wicked rest upon the lot of the righteous, lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity”.
    God shall keep things within the limits of the bearable, and shall show us the way out, 1 Corinthians 10:13. That is God’s seal.
    Now, if we will faint and give up, we alone shall be responsible for the bad replications and consequences of leaving God’s way.
    The key is: Do we remember the word in trials and temptations, do we keep the word in sufferings, pains, affliction, and oppression? Do we call enough to the point that we can wake even the sleeping one up? Because most people will surrender and quit very quickly.
    Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;), Hebrews 10:23.
    God bless you.
  • Diane on Hebrews 10:26 - 12 years ago
    Once saved not always saved! Jesus died on the cross so our sins would be forgiven, if we continue to sin after we have asked him to forgive us and give us the Holy Spirit, then that must mean he went through that unbelievable torture for nothing and we would be asking him to die for us all over again so we may be forgiven again... I don't think it will happen that way!
  • MARTA FRAZIER on Hebrews 10 - 12 years ago
    There was always a sacrifice for sin. Which had to contain blood. But it never made us any better. So God loved us so much he decided to shed his holy blood as our sacrifice which is pure and perfect this washed away our sins from God’s sight. Anytime you are dealing with something perfect, it completely overtakes something bad. Hard for us to understand because we have never seen nor heard of nothing perfect but God is. He then with faith will give us a new mind, by receiving his spirit, we will begin to think different because we have a new mind, and a new spirit the old one is gone. We are now made new. Now we have to feed our spirit with knowledge and wisdom because we still have a dual nature flesh against spirit, so stay in the word of God and spread the good news that shows your faith.

    The revelation came to me this morning, that Jesus, as the second Adam, the quickening Spirit, desired to be made one in his body with the Father as he was in the Spirit before he took on flesh ( John 1:1-4, 12-16; Hebrews 10:5,7), so that we Gentiles (as believers) could enter into the Kingdom of God in his Glorified Body according to Acts 2:38, and be glorified in the Rapture ( Philippians 3:21). This is "Wonderful News." I am in the Glorified Body of Christ, Expectedly waiting for my glorified body in the rapture. Thank God for including me, a Gentile, in the blessings of Abraham's SEED; Jesus, the Christ!

    Jesus died for our past, present and future sins and God will not remember our sins anymore and Jesus will reward us for how we lived in this world, not judge us, when He returns. Yet, preachers still tell people they are going to hell for breaking the Ten Commandments and cause self-condemnation in their minds. What is the Truth?
  • Steve on Hebrews 10 - 12 years ago
    As I understand this, Jesus’ sacrifice once and for all cleansed every person who believes (accepts Jesus into his/her heart sincerely) and repents, for all our sins past, present and future. So to ask for "forgiveness" again, again and again is like nailing Jesus to the cross over and over, not having faith on the work Jesus accomplished on the cross and having to be "saved" daily is extremely disrespectful to Him I think. I believe we must confess our sins not ask for forgiveness daily. With regard to verse 26, there does not need to be another sacrifice, only confession and repentance. We all sin every day and will until the day we die or are raptured. No one can live a perfect life; even after being saved, so then we are all doomed no matter what, according to this person. This is my response to the comment dated 11-29-12. I may be wrong on this and ask for any constructive ideas or thoughts on this matter. May the peace of Jesus Christ which passes all understanding be with you all. Merry Christmas.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Hebrews 10 - 12 years ago
    Now let us consider one another, to provoke to love, and good works. We are fighting on the Lord's team and we need to be encouraged to run this race by faith, looking unto Jesus, who is the Author, and finisher of our faith. So we need to meet corporately, and as we do the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. We must believe that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, was buried, and rose the third day for our justification. Then you are born again into the body of Christ. Once born you cannot be unborn. We are not of those who turn away unto perdition, but are of those who believe to the saving of the souls. When you have this love of Christ in you, gathering together with the saints of God is a joy. So Jesus is coming back for the church that is in love with Him. That is why we must provoke one another to love and good works as we see the day of Christ approaching.

    @Rachel,
    It is a very development that you are receiving the negative of what one goes to church for. But the key is to check your own walk first, if there is something that needs to be changed, please change it. Sometimes it’s just the extra mile you need to walk, and get things work with people, or just discuss that matter with those that hurt you, as far as they can be receptive. You can also talk to church leadership, they may help handle it best. Most of all, pray, pray, pray for them… God will always make a way, even where there seems to be no way. Keep strong and God bless you.
