In the Hebrew 11:6 the key word is Faith. And the bible is full of examples of faith in the Lord, For example in Genesis 22 God ask Abraham to do something for him And that action needed a lot of faith. For our own understanding that was a foolishness, but God often use some test in our lives to test us if we really believe on Him.
And that are a lot of other examples of faith that are mention in Hebrew 11

Our text describe faith as evidence of things not seen. For example, you hope for finances to meet obligations that you have to pay. Faith gives the assurance that you will have the money when you need it. You hope for physical strength to do work that you must do.Faith says ''The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ( Psalm 27:1). Faith will say about itself everything that the says, for faith in God is simply faith in His Word.

This scripture is excellent for disproving how people believe faith is blind. Evidence of things not seen. We have plenty of bible prophecies that have come true, that give evidence that God will fulfill his promises.

  • Walter Kamhanda on Hebrews 11 - 12 years ago
Faith is an act of trust & acceptance of what is revealed by God.
  • Bill G on Hebrews 11:6 - 12 years ago
The best book on understanding what faith is and more importantly who the object of faith is, is a book called The Faith Response by John Van Gelderen. Is there such a thing as "great" faith or "little" faith as we have been taught. Faith, I learned is not a work but dependence upon the "worker" and that our emotions run contrary to our dependence upon the Lord. Faith is continued or durational dependence on the faithful one and His words. So many great truths about faith.

"By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh." ( Hebrews 11:4)

And from the Hebrew texts; "And Abel he too brought of the firstborn of his flocks and of their fattest, and the Lord turned to Abel and to his offering."

And again, when we look to Jewish sacrificial practices we see that Fat represented perfection and good health in the sacrificial animal.

This verse of scripture actually portray a practical life of faith, it shows two value, the king and the invisible God, but Moses choose to follow the pat of the invisible God and did not allow the wrath of the king to stop him in pursuing this purpose.

Rahab, faith comes by hearing and hearing the words of God (the spies promises) Willing Obedience ( Isaiah 1:19) God does not care of your status in life...she chose what she felt correct to help support her family. In this case to save her family!

  • Clinton on Romans 4:18 - 12 years ago
That the man who believes in God, not just his word, but also in the person of God, needs no further facts to trust. Some will wait for God, but here we see a man who 'waited with God' till the promise would be fulfilled. Even after every probable cause had been utterly done away with, when all hope was removed, his faith sprung up and grasped that which was promised. Hebrews 6:13-18; Hebrews 11:13-16.
