    Dear S.Spencer,

Thank you for this in-depth study. I appreciate it.

My only comment is to your last statement on this post.

I do not think that anyone on here is really stating that they are trusting in one's ability in keeping the law. I think that this is a misrepresentation of what some are saying on here. Most on here agree that we are made righteous by faith in Jesus; that His work of salvation, perfect life, and perfect sacrifice is all we need to trust in for our right standing with God.

Most on here believe that it is through God's grace that we come to salvation; it is a gift from God and not earned. Most on here believe that being under grace frees us from the curse of the law and the need to try to attain righteousness by keeping the law. Most on here believe also that Paul repeatedly teaches believers to live godly lives and speaks against engaging in sins such as enumerated in Galatians 5:19-21; Colossians 3:9; Ephesians 4:17-32; 5:1-12; 1 Corinthians 6:8-10; 10:6-11; Romans 6:11-14; 13:8-10; 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22; Hebrews 13:4-5; because we are to walk in the Spirit and produce the fruit of the Spirit. Jesus also speaks to this in Rev. 22:14-15.

Therefore. I think it is improper for one to say things that will discourage believers from practicing godliness in their daily lives. Paul taught clearly that believers are to avoid that which is sinful. So, as a believer, I do not wish to covet, lie, steal, be sexually immoral, kill another, dishonor my parents, disregard sabbath resting, use the Lord's name improperly, set up any idol, or worship an idol, along with may other sinful actions Paul spoke against in his epistles, and in the words of Jesus, Himself.

One who is loving God and loving others will not make a habit of doing these sinful things, but only what good that is of the Spirit's grace and power in a believer's life. We are not talking about law keeping as it was required in the OT, living in obedience to God instead of in sinfulness.

Hi Billy. In the early Church, after Christ's death & resurrection, the apostles appointed managers of God's people. Elders & deacons were appointed (e.g. Acts 14:23; 1 Timothy 3:10). Elders were to teach & guide Christ's Church according to the Word, for they must give account before God in their very serious & responsible position ( Hebrews 13:17). And of course, those blessed with pastoral (shepherding), teaching, evangelism, etc. endowments, also helped in the blessing & spiritual growth of the Church & propagation of the Gospel.

Unfortunately, many Fellowships today appoint committees & councils for managing Church affairs. Admittedly, Church administration is much more complex now than was encountered in the fledgeling Church, but returning back to the simple setup as given, is preferable. Indeed, the elders are tasked to oversee & manage Church affairs & I would say that all matters, even suggestions from the deacons, should be given due consideration & prayerful response. If the eldership refuses to listen to those expressing concern or giving suggestions, then there would be a fault in their understanding of being God's servants. The elders should not be overlords ( 1 Peter 5:1-4), rather lead by example, being willing & ever ready to serve the Church, knowing that they too are brethren with Christ's flock & are answerable to their Chief Shepherd.

What can you do about the problem in the Church? Not much, if this special committee refuses to listen to needs & suggestions. If it has been formerly put to them on paper & you cover their important position & their response in prayer, then you will need to leave the matter in the Lord's Hands. Jesus said that He will build His Church - He has the last word, not the committee.

A person put over someone elses property, affairs, upkeep etc. Trusted with but belonging to another. Here are biblical examples. Genesis 1:26-30, Romans 14:12, In the Church: Hebrews 13:17, Titus 1:7,

    Genesis 15:2, Gen 43:19,

    Luke 16:1-15, Matthew 20:1-16, Luke 12:36-48,

Prophetic parable about Jesus & the religious Rulers of the time: Matthew 21:28-46, Luke 20:9-20, 'husbandman being "stewad" of the vineyard'

John 3:16; John 5:24; John 6:37-40,47; John 10:27-29; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:38,39; 2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:13; Ephesians 2:8; Ephesians 4:30; Hebrews 13:5; 1 John 5:11-13; Jude 1:24 - are a few examples, all promising the true child of God that his/her salvation is secure forever.

Yet 1 John 3:7-10 reveals the two-faced 'Christian': having every appearance of serving God, but has sin dominating his life; living carelessly & not carefully.

Genesis 1:26, "let them" & please note "dominion over fish of the Sea" so why would he put 1 man 1 woman into a garden HE made after HE told them to take dominion? If you read with Wisdom from GOD as given by asking GOD: James 1:5, You will find GOD is the same yesterday today & forever, Hebrews 13:8, Numbers 23:19, Titus 1:2, GOD does not lie nor tempt people to sin: James 1:13, 1Samuel 15:29, never said that was ok, it's contrary: Leviticus 20:17, Therefore understanding GOD's nature read again. Genesis 1:26-29, Genesis 2:7-8, Notice there is distinction between formed here. The Garden may be representative of the Church notice also the command given to the 'man Gen 1:27-28, yet this man was left alone, Gen 2:15-23, Explain Gen 4:14-25, without other people. Please also ask yourself honestly: would parents actually give a daughter to a murderer? It really takes more fake faith to believe the lies of perversion! Those lies have no scripture support!

2Thessalonians 2:10-12, Colossians 2:8, Even to the ' religious authority ' Jesus had to rebuke: John 8:44,

Keep reading The WORD, keep seeking truth GOD loves those that seek HIM Deuteronomy 4:29, 3John 1:3, John 17:17, Zechariah 8:16,

Hopefully these are helpful in your searching for truth

I felt led to tell you personal experience. 1st time I saw something in resemblance of what you said. I was working 110 hours weeks + taking care of small children. Totally sleep deprived. I was driving after leaving work little early, right before sun rose. The freeway was well lit & from median, I saw dark shadow dart across freeway, in front of my vehicle, going aprox.60mph. It really rattled me. I actually watched it trying to figure out what the image was. Fear gripped me, I prayed. I chalked it up to sleep deprivation but even then, that was rattling. I felt in that moment danger. I stopped working as many hours. I may have seen a few more dark shadow creatures during my life, seems to be during dangerous situations.

Here are some scriptures I hope will be helpful.

    Ephesians 6:10-18, Hebrews 13:2, 2 Samuel 22:3-20,

    1 Chronicles 21:15, Exodus 10:21,

    1 Corinthians 13:1-13,

Please don't give up on God and Jesus. People will disappoint you God will never leave you. It is His promise in Hebrews 13:5. Fill your heart with Gods word and His love I would recommend reading the book of John in the bible. 24 verses read one a day. John is so full of love. If you have a problem with the words, God, Jesus, Christ, Savior, etc., read them out loud and replace them with the word love, then you will begin to understand how much God loves you. Yes, it is hard to be alone. I know what you are going through. My precious daughter, 26 years old, almost 19 years ago, was in a car accident and passed away. She IS IN heaven with her Lord and Savior. My other 2 babies were born into heaven. My heart goes out to you and my prayers.

Hebrews 13:5 reminds us of this truth, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."

And though you probably feel that He has, please remember that God is still with you and He loves you so much. Continue to read His Word and talk to Him daily. I am reminded of all that Job went through, yet we see that God was still with him no matter how awful things got. I am praying for you now. You are not alone and you are loved.

Indeed Kenneth, what you write is very true: on the biblical teaching about divorce & those pastors who support re-marriage after divorce. Personally, I've not come across such pastoral teaching, but I'm sure with the many variations & colours of Christianity around the world, that wouldn't surprise me. When man, especially in such a position of teaching & shepherding Christ's Church, incorrectly teaches from God's Word, he will have to give the greater account of his life & ministry before God in that coming day ( Hebrews 13:17) - and Hebrews 13:4 reminding them & us that, "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge."

Maybe these servants of God have been compelled to water down or even overlook this matter about divorce & re-marriage because of the prevalence of it in their own congregations. I would think that that should be grounds for a greater impetus to preach against it & to put out any that are known to engage in such sinful activity. Sadly, the world is well & truly in the Church as the love & approval received from the people & job security becomes more important.

We are saved by faith, because of the shed blood of Jesus. However, Jesus told us that God's law will stand till heaven and earth pass. The law in Col 2 is the handwritten Moses' law not the !0 Commandments, finger-written by God.

If we sin, we need to repent. What is sin? 1 John 3vs 4 ' sin is the transgression of the law.' So, clearly, Jesus expects us to obey the law. It is written in our hearts but still can be over-ruled by us. Besides, what exactly does 'written in our hearts 'mean? Let us not be confused with trying to convert old Greek understandings exactly into modern English. We still have freewill and are not automatons obeying the Lord because of His presence within us. How can there be any disagreement between the written law and the law in our hearts? Jesus Christ is the same 'yesterday, today and forever' and Hebrews 13:8 'I am the Lord, I change not."( Malachi 3:6). What does being saved mean? To verbally accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour without complete submission to Him as Lord is worthless-- Rev 3:16.

We can lose our salvation. see, eg. Matt 24:13-'but he that shall endure to the end shall be saved' and Rev 3:11.

This issue is really important and often confusing. We are saved so we won't sin and will develop characters fit for heaven. God does not ever want any more disobedience. We must understand that His ways are perfect and we must obey.

Are you ready for His return? Let's look at the characteristics of his faithful followers at that time. Revelation 14:12-

'They keep the COMMANDMENTS OF GOD AND THE FAITH OF JESUS.' Note further Rev 22:14-

'Blessed are they that DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, that they may have RIGHT to the tree of life and may enter into the city.'

Note that it says HIS commandments, not somebody else's. Jesus does not separate Himself from His law.

'I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. The Bible also tells us in Psalm 119 vs 142 'Thy law is Truth.'

1 John 2:4- we are liars if not keeping commandments.

    Brother Rick,

I say this with love, and also for others that are seeking the truth. Jesus absolutely did not do away with the 10 Commandments/Law, including the Holy Sabbath Day, Saturday.

    Jesus states:

    John 14:15

"If ye love me, keep my commandments."

Jesus knows who loves him, because they will keep his commandments. Many people don't even try to keep God's commandments because it doesn't facilitate their worldly lifestyle. We have to ask ourselves this important question: Do we let our lifestyles guide us, or God's words?

    Jesus said: Matthew 16:25

"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." Do you believe this scripture?

    Matthew 24:35

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."

So are you saying that Jesus words in John 14:15, and Matthew 24:35,have passed away?

    Hebrews 13:8

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

Are you saying that Jesus Christ changed? His words no longer matter?

Jesus death on the cross and the new covenant does not erase the Ten Commandments/Law. Please read what God tells us about the new covenant and the law:

    Hebrews 8:10

"For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:"

God is telling us he will put his laws into our minds, and our hearts! Do you believe this? This scripture is very important: Matthew 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Do you believe this scripture?

The scripture is very clear, and easy to understand. We can't change the scripture, but many try to ignore or twist it into a puzzle that doesn't even make sense.

    Read it and believe it!

    God Bless

    Genesis 4:17 left without name

Here is scripture & thought on the matter for deeper questions that are taught on this issue.

Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis 2:7,8,15,16,18,21,22,23,24, notice in Genesis 1:27-28, says male & female & have dominion over & subdue over the sea, air, and living thing that moveth on the earth. Then HE put 'the man" in garden. Was this a certain man & his wife seperated in a special garden? Notice in Genesis 1:29 all fruit from every tree was good for meat. However in the Garden that HE planted Genesis Genesis 2:8-9, he put the man he had formed & breathed life into him & he became a living soul. Genesis 2:7,

Genesis 4:15 presence of other people,

    Hebrews 13:8, John 1:1-5, Leviticus 18, establishes GOD's law, James 1:13-16,

    Luke 1:69, Psalms 89:24-27, Titus 2:11-12, Hebrews 5,

Genesis 4:25,26, 1 Corinthians 15:20-23, one lineage from Adam to Seth to Jesus recorded lineage of redemption Matthew, we are adopted heirs through Christ, Ephesians 1:5

Many agree this lineage was significant to show fall of mankind & redemption

    John 21:25

Hopefully this is helpful to your question.

Obey them (CHURCH) that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Brother Kevin, may CHRIST IN US grave us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

    Page 1

When you are studying, it is of necessity to make sure you are assigning the pronouns their correct personage.

Often it helps to write the verse or verses and replace the pronoun with the noun they represent. I have taken chapters and done this, often getting half way through the chapter and find the noun I was using does't fit, having to go back (repent) and correct my understanding of that pronoun. The scriptures CANNOT disagree with themselves. Much of the WORD is hidden in parables and metaphors, often the word being used has different meaning (signifies something else) than what one would defined in a dictionary. The physical mind pictures things that are physical, the Spirit guiding you causes your mind to see the hidden meaning. In the Old Testament God lived in THE CLOUD that covered the tabernacle; was inside the Holy of Hollies. If that being the shadow then the TRUE (that casting the shadow) would now be MAN (the true TEMPLE OF GOD), being COVERED by God; and MAN now being the Holy Of Hollies, were God dwells. Our physical mind pictures heaven as a physical place with huge mansions and gates of pearls and streets of gold, but the hidden meaning cannot be physically seen so the Spirit has to cause you to see. A GLORIFIED BODY does't need a physical house, or streets or gates. Heaven then becomes SIGNIFIED

Acts 1:9 And when HE (CHRIST) had spoken these things, while they (the disciples with him) beheld, he (Christ) was taken up; and a cloud (the new TEMPLE, MAN Colossians 1:27) received him (Christ now in the glorified body as the Holy Spirit) out of their (disciples) sight.

    Acts 1:10 And while they (disciples with him) looked steadfastly into (physical) heaven (the disciple had not yet been given the Holy Spirit to understand Christ ascended INTO MAN) as he went up, behold two men (messengers of God in glorified bodies Hebrews 13:2) stood by them in white apparel;

I take it to believe "yea", may not be him rejoicing but even that, has scripture backing Philippians 4:4-9, James 1:2-4, 1 John 4:18,

even if we walk in/near death we should not fear because GOD promises to be with us (that trust in HIM) Deuteronomy 31:8, Hebrews 13:5-6, John 14:16-21, Psalm 139:1-24, Psalms 37:40,

    The rod; Proverbs 13:24, Job 21:9, Proverbs 29:15, Lamentations 3:1, many times references discipline, correction: Proverbs 22:15, Proverbs 23:14, Proverbs 3:12, Hebrews 12:4-8-11, Staff: Hebrews 11:21, Zechariah 8:4, Exodus 21:19, Numbers 22:27, 2 Samuel 3:29, Judges 6:21

Hopefully these scriptures help you with the HOLY Spirit to understand deeper. John 14:26, James 1:5

Thank you brother for sharing what you did - I'm sure that you have also been a great encouragement for us to seek the Lord with all of our being, to please Him in every area of our lives, & to make His Love known to all who give us an ear.

There is one aspect of reading the whole Bible & therefore gaining a working knowledge of its contents and another aspect of knowing all the intracacies of biblical Truth. I don't believe that on this side of Heaven, anyone can claim such knowledge, for often that runs very deep & we are not privy to all the circumstances, the people & the background in those accounts. Indeed, we need to always grow in the knowledge of the Word, but that takes time & shouldn't be an excuse to prohibit us from reaching out to others.

You have a very genuine love for the Lord & to share that love with others. Your testimony, your full belief in the Truth of the Gospel & the power therein ( Romans 1:16), & a readiness to speak with people where they're at in their lives, offering them the hope that you also have in Christ, is all you need. God's Spirit in you will surely delight to use you, for this is the very reason for His Coming ( John 16:8): to speak forth the Good News to those sitting in darkness ( Luke 1:79) - that you might be His mouthpiece to declare the Glory of God & of His Son & shine His Light. Yes, there will be testing times (Satan does not appreciate his dark evil domain being infused with God's Light), but "greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world" ( 1 John 4:4). Do you believe that brother? Then you can trust Him for not only that power to witness, but to minister to your family needs, job situation, rejection by others, & so on. Faith is indeed the victory that overcomes the world ( 1 John 5:4) & the Spirit in you knows this & will honour His Presence & His Word - that you will lack nothing & remain fearless in your walk in Christ. I leave this great Benediction with you - in Hebrews 13:20,21. Every blessing.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

    Acts 2:4

For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.

    Hebrews 13:11

Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.

    Hebrews 13:12

And straightway coming up oit of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Cessationism is a false doctrine, please read Matthew 13:31-32 Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven

To Say everything closed at the end of the apostolic age would mean that salvation is also closed

Your statement has is not in harmony

Number 23:19 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Thank you David. May I refer you to a few OT & NT Scriptures: Exodus 33:7; Proverbs 1:20; Ezekiel 41:17. And Matthew 12:46,47; Matthew 26:69; Hebrews 13:13. These show the intended meaning of 'without' as seen & understood in Genesis 9:22.

But if you still believe that Genesis 9:22 is incomplete, I would be very interested, like Adam, to know where you learned this & the relevant references so we can research this as you have done. In anticipation I remain.

1 Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. (To teach means preach)

Chapter 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; -- (Notice it says the husband of one wife - not wife of one husband.)

I Peter 5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: 2 - Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind

Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Mr. Daubenspeck, I will try my best to answer your question.

    I Samuel

    I Samuel 2:28

It appears that people rejected GOD, HIS people

    I Samuel 2:17

    I Samuel 3:14

    I Samuel 7:3

    I Samuel 8:6-7

Could this have been the prophetic end of the sacrifice to GOD?

    I Samuel 8:7-20

    Malachi 3:8 -10

    Romans 12:1 , Luke 11:42 , Matthew 23:23 ,

    Isaiah 58

    Hebrews 8:3

    Hebrews 9:12

    Hebrew 10:6

    Hebrews 13:15

Hopefully that helps in your study.

She will also take one of my personal experiences, and then pretend she had the exact same or conveniently similar, just so I will say, "yes, I experienced that as well," because I have brought up that that is one of the abnormal, and inappropriate things that she has done to me REPEATEDLY in the past during conversation: i.e., any story I tell...she went through the EXACT...SAME...THING! Even if it is an uncommon thing--like a miracle if the LORD--she had a conversation with a man...whom she later believed was a heavenly angel in disguise as a man (like in Hebrews 13:2 "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."). At least 1 thing blessed me in this, I only ever remembered part of that verse...had a different idea of what the 1st 1/2 had said, and which Testament it was located in. But this thing happened to me, I believe, abd now GOD has blessed me even greater than the unexplained miracle blessing that resulted from that encounter, and was kindly, abd gently foretold by that man (albeit in ZERO detail from him). His demeanor was such, that I wanted to ask him to pray for me (for a job), but decided against it! I look back and have regret (hindsight), but I made that decision at the time because I thought it most proper.

But I just wanted to request prayer that you ask the LORD to bless me to not have anger over injustice (repeated) against myself (as opposed to being apathetic toward the injustices committed against others!), Because the anger eats away at my time. I stop from goodly tasks (within the home) for myself, because there have been decades of straws pilled across this camel's back, and while I have no break...I have multiple fissures and cracks. Eruptions occur--and I want NONE of that, and they hardily serve, to the multiple lies of my abusers...I become the "bad guy" while feigned innocence rests...upon the head of my accusers. Satan's in secret...but "upstanding" in the streets. PrayPlease!
