Brother Good Guy, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

Are you a man? Do you buy and sell? We best judge ourselves by the words of God.

Proverbs 9:1 WISDOM (CHRIST) hath builded her house... ( Hebrews 3:6)

Proverbs 9:2 She (WISDOM)(CHRIST, THE WORD) hath KILLED her beast...

Have you (the beast) ONLY been wounded ( Revelation 13:3) by God's WORD OR have you (the beast) been KILLED ( Revelation 13:10) by God's WORD?

Have you (the beast) stumbled ( Romans 9:32) over the stone (CHRIST) OR has the stone (CHRIST) fallen ( Matthew 21:44) on you and ground you to powder?

We DIE daily to God's WORD.

Laurine, may CHRIST UN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

    God is Spirit.

YOU are the HOUSE OF THE LORD, Christ in the FORM of SPIRIT (Spirit is Life and Truth) lives IN YOU.

Hebrews 3:6 But Christ is a son over his own house; whose house are we .....

You DIED with Christ on the cross. You were RESURRECTED to LIFE and TRUTH with HIM.

The WAGES of SIN is DEATH.

Christ PAID your WAGES; therefore, BELIEVE and you will never see DEATH.

1 Corinthians 15:52 ....DEATH is swallowed up in victory (resurrected with Christ to LIFE and TRUTH).

Spirit gives you life, because there is ONLY one life and that life is (the SPIRIT of) Christ.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (SPIRIT) which worketh IN YOU both to will and to do his good pleasure.

Ephesians 1:11 In whom (SPIRIT) we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him (the SPIRIT), who worketh all things after the counsel of his (the SPIRIT'S) will.

    Hello Hui Ning Wu,

I would like to offer another perspective to your comment: "And once you are saved, you cannot lose your salvation no matter what you do!"

I ask, is this true? If true, I would love to commit sins tonight just for fun, because no consequence. Would love to do drugs, have an affair, go to certain clubs to party, maybe even get in a fight, because if we're saved no matter what it wouldn't matter and God would still reward me?

So, is this true that it's from God and not from satan? Before I do that I would first need to find it in clearly scripture and no other scripture would contradict it. So, if I look through the Bible for evidence, I find the following:

1 Peter 1:13 "...hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;"

This suggests grace won't be given until Jesus comes- maybe even after we're judged. But people are telling me I'm saved and have grace now, so which is true? Does anywhere else in the Bible say that?

1 Peter 1:5 - "...salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."

Ok, I guess it does. So, we're not 'saved' yet, huh?

Hebrews 10:26 "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,"

James 2:14-26 "...faith, if it hath not works, is dead..."

James 2:19 "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."

So, believing alone isn't enough? So, maybe faith and actions matter?

    Romans 11

John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments."

    Matthew 12:31-32

    Romans 14:12

1 Cor 9:24-27 "run the race", not the 'race was already won.'

But many people are telling me the race is already won and that I can party. So, who is right: God's Word or man's word?

    2 Peter 3:17

    Luke 8:5-18

    1 Timothy 4:1

    2 Peter 2:20-22

    Hebrews 3:12

    Galatians 5:4

    1 Corinthians 15:2-8

1 Corinthians 9:26-27 - this suggests 'trying' is good.

Evidence showing I should NOT commit sin. God bless...

ChrisE, thank you for responding! My friend I'm a little confused about your summary. You mentioned law/prophets lets begin there. I think it's safe to say that Moses was a prophet to be reckon with(according to old test. and new) that's what drove the Pharisees crazy about Jesus. According to "law" Jesus was behaving like a "mavrick" skirting around it but never breaking it always leaving them arguing among themselves about it. Well Jesus did say Matt. 5;17 I came not to destroy the law but fulfil it. Having said that lets take a look at what the law said about washing or baptizing. God told Moses the prophet in Exodus 30:15-17 that if the priest did NOT wash they were dead men. That was law. But fulfilling that law Jesus ( THE HIGH PRIEST) Hebrews 3:1-5 told John I need you to baptize me...(I'm going to the Altar{Calvary} eventually) and I need to be washed. If we are to be is followers, ambassadors, disciples, Christians or whatever and he(JESUS) was baptized shouldn't we then follow His example? In Christ, Gerald.

    Hi Adam,

I understand your frustration and I feel the same way. In this world, nothing saddens me more than unbelievers and how it makes God feel.

    Ephesians 4:18

They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.

    2 Corinthians 4:4 important

In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

    People's Bible Notes for 2 Co 4:4

The god of this world. See Joh 12:31,40 Php 3:19. Satan is called the prince of this world, and the god of this world. Hath blinded the minds of them which believe not. By his devices he blinds the eyes of men so they should not see the light of gospel. The image of God. He who would see God may see him in the face of Christ. See Joh 14:9.

    Revelation 21:8

But as for the cowardly, the "faithless", the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."

    2 Corinthians 6:14

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

    Hebrews 3:12

Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.

    Hebrews 12:14

Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

    John 3:18

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

    Hebrews 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please him for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

    Dear Friend in Jesus.

From time to time we all hearing the warning bell's.

If it's so, go to Him who have done Greater things Jesus Christ. Fall on your knees and ask and pray what is it?

Example, it can be someone you know who needs something, or is it something you need to say too someone.

It can be some thing wrong with you too. Like, are you willing too do whats come up?

Search in the Holy Spirit He give you the answer. And if you get It, dont get worried about it, But do it at once!

Then you realize the freedom of Christ. He dont turn the back on you. ps. dont forget to do it in Jesus name. He who is Gods Beloved Son.

    Lex,

I gave you my word that I would study those verses with you. Here is my understanding of these scriptures one at a time. This may take more than one post. If I can fit more than one verse in a post, I will do so.

2 Peter 3:17: Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.

The word steadfastness and the word unstable in verse 16 mean the same thing in reference. Your steadfastness is your solid maturity. But if you follow false doctrine it will make you unstable and expose you to all kinds of spiritual problems. In verse 16, he is telling them that the apostle Paul has taught these very same things that I am telling you.

It says beware. So be watching for yourself. Guard yourself, lest you be led away, and you fall from your own steadfastness. It has nothing to do with salvation. It has to do with maturity. It has to do with firmness, solidity in Christ.

Hebrews 3:12: Take heed, (pay attention) brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. These are special words used in the book of Hebrews for unbelief. It literally means to reject the persuasion of God's Spirit. A true believer under the influence of God's Spirit would never do that.

The word departing is the word apostasy. A Believer cannot commit apostasy. An unsaved person who is following along with the teachings, being enlightened, and maybe even agreeing, but when hardship and persecution comes, they depart. Those are the ones who commit apostasy.

    More to follow:

Here are some scriptures I looked up that indicate that believers can fall from grace, depart from the faith, or apostatize. Once again I do not know everything and if I am wrong I appreciate insight and discussion.

    2 Peter 3:17

    Luke 8:5-18

    1 Timothy 4:1

    2 Peter 2:20-22

    Hebrews 3:12

    Galatians 5:4

    1 Corinthians 15:2-8

    Lex,

The Holy Spirit in a believer causes them to come to true repentance. I say true repentance because there are two separate words in the Greek text for our English word repent. One is METANOEO, and the other is METAMELOMAI.

Metanoeo (Repent) is true repentance. It's when a person makes a decision to change the direction of their life and surrender their life to Christ. But with that comes the understanding that we cannot change ourselves. It takes the Spirit of God in us to make that change. Metamelomai (Repent) simply means you are sorry for your actions. The bible tells us that Judas repented, but the word that was applied to Judas was not Metanoeo.

If you have the Holy Spirit living inside you, He is always working. God's Spirit inside a believer is never dormant. I agree with you that we can be deceived. If we think something is coming from God, how do we know? Satan knows the bible very well. We see that in the instance where he was tempting Jesus out in the wilderness. Satan quoted scripture perfectly. He just misapplied it. So how I know it's from God and I'm not being deceived? I have to trust Christ.

You mention "Genuinely wanting to reconcile with God." Here's a thought. It wouldn't be genuine if God's Spirit didn't put it on your heart. Our flesh wants nothing to do with God and is constantly trying to get away. It's the Spirit of God in us that continually draws us to Christ and brings us to confess the things that disrupt our fellowship with Him.

As far as getting to a place to where we clear on what the scripture says, good luck on that one. I don't know how to get to that place. All I can do is study the word, pray for understanding, and place my trust in the Lord.

In Hebrews 3:12, the word departing is the word apostasy. A believer cannot commit apostasy. Only someone who is involved, maybe intellectually understanding, being enlightened, and even agreeing with the truth, but when the hardships come, they leave. That's called apostasy.
  • Lex - In Reply - 3 years ago
In terms of the Holy Spirit, if you still want to repent does that mean the Holy Spirit is working in you because I know that people can be deceived? I mean with thoughts of unbelief and the warning "Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin."- Hebrews 3:12-13 I keep feeling bad.

So if you realize that your thoughts are wrong and you genuinely want to reconcile with God, you can repent right? But sometimes some of the scriptures have me worried that it could be too late? Like the point of no return.. God is not the author of confusion and He does not give a spirit of fear so how do you get to a place where you are clear on what the Scripture says?

Brother Adam, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

I BELIEVE, Christ is the BOOK OF LIFE just as he is the tree of life, the lamb of God, etc. If you are IN CHRIST and CHRIST IN YOU, then at that point you are in the Book of Life and being made ONE IN CHRIST you become a book of life, ALSO.

Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: the SEED is the WORD of GOD.

If you take a SEED and plant it; the part that emerges looks nothing like the SEED that was planted.

But at MATURITY when it is HARVESTED and put in the grain bin; it is EXACTLY like the SEED that was planted. We have the SEED; Christ himself, the WORD planted in us. Now we look nothing like the SEED; but at HARVEST (death of this body) we will be put in the grain bin (Christ body, immortality) and we will be like him; we become SEED to be planted, ALSO.

Matthew 12:37 For by my WORDS (CHRIST) thou shall be justified, and by my WORDS (CHRIST) thou shall be condemned.

If you are IN CHRIST and CHRIST IN YOU; you are being judged NOW.

John 12:48 .... the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him ...

1 Corinthians 11:31 If we would judge ourselves (by the word), we should not be judged.

1 Corinthians 11:31 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

1 Peter 4:17 For the TIME IS COME that judgement must begin at the house of God ...

Hebrews 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we...

Faith (belief in God) and Obedience to God's WORD is the basic requirement for fellowship with Father,Son through Holy Spirit which inturn is brought by His grace and mercy.

Faith and Obedience essential for His rest to us-salvation

Hebrews 11:6 KJV - But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Romans 11:30 KJV - For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

Hebrews 3:12 KJV - Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Hebrews 4:2 KJV - For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Hebrews 4:3 KJV - For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Hebrews 4:6 KJV - Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Romans 16:26 KJV - But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

    2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV - Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

1 Peter 1:2 KJV - Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

    Hello S Spencer.

    Thank you for your response.

I commend you for citing verses that clearly show that Paul is talking to actual believers. They were "Holy Brethren". They had believed in Jesus Christ and were very surely baptized in water. That would make them part of the Church.

However, very serious warnings are given to not lose faith and to not stop trusting in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Please take specific note that the Apostle Paul does not say "you" but "we". In other words, he includes "himself" in those warnings.

Hebrews 2:1 "Therefore WE ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which WE have heard, lest at any time WE should let them slip."

Hebrews 2:3 "How shall WE escape, if WE neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;"

Hebrews 3:12 "Take heed, BRETHREN, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of UNBELIEF, in DEPARTING from the living God."

Hebrews 3:14 "For WE (includes Paul) are made partakers of Christ, if WE HOLD the beginning of our confidence stedfast UNTO THE END;"

Hebrews 12:15-17 "Looking diligently lest any man FAIL OF THE GRACE OF GOD; lest any ROOT OF BITTERNESS SPRINGING UP trouble you, and thereby many be DEFILED; Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat SOLD his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, HE WAS REJECTED: for he found NO PLACE OF REPENTANCE, though he sought it carefully with tears.

Hebrews 6:6 "If they shall FALL AWAY (apostatize), to renew them again unto REPENTANCE; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."

2 Peter 2:20 "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and OVERCOME, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning."

    Overcome means definitely. No return.

    Hi Michael.

Here's the issue with what you stated.

"becomes a hater of God - and remains firmly in that state for the rest of his life - will no longer be able to be saved. There is no more forgiveness for them."

That's not in the verses we're discussing.

If it was I would say that person was never saved, He was Enlightened, "The Word was brought to him but he never truly was converted. I believe as Jesse believes Enlightening doesn't mean the receiver accepted it.

However I believe These were believers because of previous verses.

Hebrews 3:1. Wherefore, ( HOLY BRETHREN,)

    partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

And also they were on need of Milk instead of meat. ( Milk is for babies in Christ. not for sinners. Sinners need light.

I think verses 7,8 and 9 speaks of Maturity and fruit.

I don't believe the Issue is Salvation, In Hebrews 6. and NO you can't loose your Salvation.

    God bless.

Brother Simon, may CHRIST IN US grace us with His wisdom and His understanding.

I agree, we can only be born again BY RESURRECTION.

Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in THE FIRST RESURRECTION: on such the second death has no power, but they shall be Priests of God and Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

This happens before the second judgement in Revelation 20:11-13

Luke 20:36 Neither can they die anymore...

Christ is telling the Sadducees; who did not believe in resurrection, that the ones APPOINTED TO DIE with him on his cross would never die again.

Psalms 102:18 This shall be written for the generation to come; and the people which SHALL BE CREATED shall praise the Lord.

Psalms 102:20 ...to loose those APPOINTED TO DEATH

Luke 20:36 ....being the children of the resurrection.

1 Peter 4:17 For the TIME IS COME that JUDGEMENT must begin at the HOUSE OF GOD.....

Hebrews 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose HOUSE WE ARE...

John 5:22 For the father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgement unto the Son.

2 Corinthians 5:10 We must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ....

We were RESURRECTED with Christ and Christ is dwelling IN US; therefore, Christ's THRONE is IN US and were are BEFORE the THRONE being JUDGED NOW by Christ (the word of God).

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed (flesh), but by incorruptible, by THE WORD (SPIRIT) of God, which LIVETH and ABIDETH forever. (you will never die again after you died ONCE with Christ).

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is APPOINTED unto man ONCE TO DIE (with Christ on the cross or later at the second death), but after this then the JUDGEMENT.

Hebrews 9:28 .....and unto them that look for him shall he appear a SECOND TIME (the first time was in the flesh; the second time in SPIRIT, you don't see him he is like a thief in the night) WITHOUT SIN UNTO SALVATION.

Hebrews 3:7-11.Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

Israel had a hardened heart. Which is the condition to all men without the "NEW" heart given by the Lord when saved.

( Hebrews 4:2-3. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.)

( For we which have believed do enter into rest,) as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Jude 1:5. answers itself, " they believe not' ( Was not saved )

    James 2:21&26.

21:Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

26:For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

James is speaking of works "AFTER" salvation not for salvation.

Philippians 1:6. Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Philippians 2:13. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. This is what James 2:21 is speaking of.

    Hebrews 6:12-19, and James 2:21.

These are 2 seperate accounts of Abraham in Hebrews 6:12-16 and James 2:21-23.

"Hebrews the promise was Issac confirmed by an oath". Played out in Gen. 15:1-12.

James was "Abraham having faith in THAT promise". Played out in Gen. 22:1-14.
  • Michael - In Reply on Romans 5 - 3 years ago
    Hello S Spencer,

Regarding Hebrews 6:13-19, I would direct your attention specifically to verse 15.

Hebrews 6:15 "And so, AFTER HE HAD PATIENTLY ENDURED, he obtained the promise."

    Compare that with Hebrews 6:12.

Hebrews 6:12 "That ye be not slothful, but followers of them WHO THROUGH FAITH AND PATIENCE inherit the promises."

James 2:21 "Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?"

What would have happened had Abraham developed a wicked heart and refused to obey God? What if Abraham had cursed God and returned to his original place of residence - the land of Ur? Would he have inherited the promises?

What happened to Israel when they became bad? Did they inherit the promised land? Were they (that generation) not all destroyed in the desert and did not enter the promised land?

Hebrews 3:10-11 "Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest."

Jude 1:5 "I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having SAVED the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward DESTROYED them that believed not."

1 Corinthians 10:5 "But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness."

God's promises are certain. They will never fail. They are, in fact, like an anchor. So we can absolutely trust God. However, for us to benefit from those promises, we must exercise faith in God - unwavering trust in obeying God and all that he asks of us.

James 2:26 "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD also."

2 Peter 1:10-11 "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election SURE: for IF ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

    Good day.

HIS Rest; Heb. 4:1 = The noun "rest" translates eight times in this chapter (vv. 1, 3, 4, 5, 8. 10, & 11) from the Greek noun root (transliterated "katapauo"; pronounced "kata-POW-"), which literally describes a calm, quiet, and peaceful situation wherein the one who experiences this type of rest lives in security and contentment. This is the same "rest" previously recorded in Hebrews 3:11 and 18.

The rest spoken of in verse nine (v.9) is a different type of rest which will receive its own commentary treatment.

The writer first approached the subject of GOD's Rest in the previous chapter (3:11 & 18). There, GOD addressed the rebellious Israelites during their Exodus from Egypt.

Due to the Israelites "hardening their hearts" toward GOD during their wilderness wanderings, GOD now addresses another audience: the readers' of this epistle as identified by the pronouns "us" and "any of you". The reader must compel himself to investigate the meaning and significance of this Rest.

In the previous references to GOD's Rest, the term "rest" speaks specifically of Israel's settling into Canaan which GOD initially promised to Abraham ( Gen. 17:8). This Rest may also apply generally of Israel's prospering in their national identity and security (cp. Exo. 6:4; Lev. 14:34; 25:38; Num. 13:2; 34:2; Deu. 32:49).

Yet, with all GOD's Promises and Guarantees, both Israel, and eventually Judah, lost everything due to their repeated and continuous rebellions and idolatries.

Now, GOD promises a Rest in the soteriological application through the reception of, and faith in the Gospel and Doctrines of JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOR. "MY Rest" speaks of the present irrevocable security all Christian believers enjoy in their Salvation apart from vain "works", and from the Law's condemnation of death (cp. Mt. 11:28-29).

" Hebrews 8:13 "In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away."

(Christians are not under the Old Covenant or Testament but under the New Covenant or Testament. The book of Malachi is under the Old Covenant or Testament.)

Luke 22:20 "Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you."

(Jesus set up or inaugurated the New Covenant or Testament with his shed blood. The laws governing that New Covenant or New Testament and recorded in the letters written to the first-century Church. The Apostle Paul or any other Apostle, in all their letters, never instructed the first-century Church to tithe - not once.)

2 Corinthians 9:7 "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."

(The Apostle Paul sets the standard for giving under the New Covenant or Testament - "as he purposes in his heart" - in other words, whatever a person decides to give is his personal choice.)

1 Corinthians 16:2 "Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come."

(The Apostle Paul says "as God has prospered him". He never mentions an obligatory tithe.)

My brother the tithing system is not done away with. In Malachi it states can I man rob God. yes in tithes and offering. God also states if we return said he will open the windows of heaven and pour blessings on us. What a promise only if we are faithful will we receive this blessings.

If JESUS says to do something we better do it ( If you love me keep my word - commandants)

Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! (for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin), and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done (judgment, mercy, and faith), and not to leave the other undone (judgment, mercy, and faith). So yes Jesus said pay tithe, On the cross he said it is finished, can't add or take away. He has spoken to us by his word we should heed his word not wait to see if we feel like it.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

    That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

This opportunity as a servant of Christ, is unequal to anything that exists in heaven or earth! The power of God rests on those who's mind is in Him! Jesus the Christ! This power rises above all principalities and powers in heaven and earth, conquering the future! Even eternal life!

    2 Timothy 3:16-17 KLV

All scripture is to be used since it is inspired of God.

We gather all scripture about subject so we can can fully understand.

    Romans 2:7

    King James Version

7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

This verse clearly tell us we seek salvation by "patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:".

This verse plainly destroys the lie of once saved always saved.

    Hebrews 3: 12-14

12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

    We can loose our salvation

13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

If our hearts are hardened by sin how can we be saved

    14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

We can be saved IF "we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;"

There are of course other scriptures which totally deny the lie once saved always saved.

This chapter truely shows the falsehood of beleiving in the "once saved always saved" doctrine that is taught by so many false religions. once your saved that's it!! no, notice the tiny word "if" in this chapter and throughout the entire bible. john calvin was very wrong!

    Phillip.

Thanks for that wonderful declaration of Hope!! It sheds more light on the scripture when it's defined properly.

    God bless you.

"the Hope"; v.6 = Do not apply modern definitions and applications concerning hope from the human perspective (e.g. Ac. 27:20; 1Thes. 4:13) to that DIVINE Hope which GOD instills within believers.

Man bases his hope on using his intelligence and personal abilities to manipulate his environmental resources to bring into reality that which he desires based on chance, possibility, and probability (cp. Ac. 16:19; 27:20). Man often attributes "hope" to the vain superstitions of fate or luck.

In contrast, DIVINE Spiritual Hope is a sure, yet future reality for which saints wait with eager anticipation because GOD has promised and guarantees its fulfillment.

Hope includes DIVINE, guaranteed realities such as

    + Righteousness ( Gal. 5:5),

    + Eternal Life ( Tit. 1:2; 3:7),

    + our Resurrection from the dead (Ac. 23:6; 24:15; 1Pet. 1:3),

+ our future home in Heaven ( Col. 1:5), and

+ our expectation of the blessed eschatological event of CHRIST's Second Coming (1Thes. 2:19; Tit. 2:13).

GOD is The SOURCE of the saint's hope for HE is "The GOD of hope" ( Rom. 15:13). LORD JESUS CHRIST personifies hope for HE is

    + "our HOPE" ( 1Tim. 1:1),

+ "the HOPE of Glory" ( Col. 1:27), and

+ "that Blessed HOPE" for WHOM the saints "look for the Glorious Appearing of The Great GOD and our SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST" ( Tit. 2:13).

The expectation of the sure reality of hope fulfilled in and through LORD JESUS CHRIST encourages the saints and Church to patiently persevere with "hope firm unto the end" ( Heb. 3:6; 6:11; 1Pet. 1:13).
