I'm not out to ruffle feathers, carefully go over Gen.14, Psa.110, Heb. chapt.5-7. Jesus, and Melchizedek are....one in the same. There's only one eternal High Priest of God, and King of Peace (Salem). He has boundless authority over time, and space, He created them. Melchizedek, who brought out bread and wine, had no beginning, or end of days, was not here to save us all quite yet, (just Abram).

To everyone; We cannot ignore or dismiss all the multitudes of Scriptures which say plainly that the Anointed, the Christ, IS THE SON OF GOD COME IN THE FLESH; because of one or two MIS-interpreted sayings that are wrenched out of context to force a meaning never intended...i.e.; that Jesus is somehow less than He says He is. He that is of the Truth WILL hear His Voice; and will not hear strangers

Who was Paul referring to in verse 5-7? Jesus or Melchisidek? Who with strong crying and supplication was heard of God? Paul is not clear but the point is that they both were high priests, appointed as was Aaron to perform ritual sacrifice. Jesus was the High Priest of our profession for his obedience toward God,in that he suffered crucifiction in order to demonstrate eternal life in God. Amen

servant; when Jesus said that to the young rich man, He was exposing and rebuking the empty flattering titles used to "butter-up" and ask for an audience. He was not saying that He isn't God; but for the kid to sober up and be true in his character. Look at the rest of the scenario: the issue was NOT "if Jesus is the Son of God;" but the shallowness of the love of this world, and its ruin of men.

Disciple, Hesus when asked of one,"Good master, How shall I obtain the Kingdom? Jesus answered,"Why callest me good? There is none good but God alone." Jesus read the Bible, just as I do. Bit by bit, precept by precept, here a little, there a little. I do no agree with Mega Churches or Bible belters. Their doctrine is serving, justifying all sorts of vile inequity. Jesus will not approve

The divinity of Christ was b/c he was an absolute Son, not a token son like Adam but an Absolute Son,It was God his father that said that everything has to MULTIPLY, after its kind and christ was the multiplication of God, I will make him my 1st born etc and I shall be unto him a father and he shall be unto me a son, Their relationship was like Abraham and Isaac. Two distinct beings but 1 spirit.
  • A disciple on Hebrews 5 - 7 years ago
servant; Jesus' divinity was not "granted" to Him because of His obedience! That is a heathen doctrine which started from the devil, saying, that Jesus is a created being! Jesus is God from everlasting to everlasting, and was with the Father before the world was; "Before Abraham was I AM." For our sake, as the Anointed Saviour of the world; the Father additionally glorified Him for His obedience.

Disciple, Jesus agonized in the garden for sure knowing his death was imminent! He was in all ways human as well as divine. His divinity was granted to him by his complete obedience to God. This was his greatest test and though sorrowful facing death he had faith that God was wirh him and would guide him as He had done heretofore. Jesus was alone on the cross for 9 hours with criminals.......

Cheryl; The reference to Melchizedek was for the type, of being [apparently] without natural descent; i.e. eternal. The Lord Jesus is the One who agonized in the Garden of Gethsemane, taking upon Himself the unimaginable horror of the world's guilt, as our Substitute; until His sweat was as it were "great drops of blood falling to the ground."
  • Carolyn Rowe on Hebrews 5 - 7 years ago
Wendell, It was Melchisedec who offered weeping and tears. The chapter is comparing Jesus with Melchisedec in the role of high Priest. God always hears the prayers of the faithful, but He does what is necessary in any situation. There is a difference between being in the flesh and Jesus being made flesh to pay for man's sins. The Bible helps us to understand His masterplan.

"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:" Don't you want to grow in grace, and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ? If Jesus said that the only way we will be saved, is by doing all these His words; who are you to say we don't have to know them? Hebrews 5:11-14 explains very well what I'm talking about: being unskilled in the Word makes you unusable.

Verses 12 and 13: We could be taking in spiritual food but still not be healthy in the faith. We need to go beyond the elementary things and take in solid spiritual food.
  • Wendell Bonin on Hebrews 5 - 7 years ago
Is the translation correct because i think it was melchisedec that offered the strong weeping and tears because the father always heard jesus and then a little further it mentions that this is the doctrine. Jesus was never in the"flesh"

    To Ibrahim
Jesus Christ in His humanity like you and me was terrified of the death of deaths; all the sins of mankind poured upon Him; separated from His Father. The Cross was hard for Him to face so He prayed and cried to God and God heard Him because of His godly fear. Nevertheless He went to the Cross, He died and He rose again on the third day according to Scriptures. He endured the Cross.

Mari: verse one says I must talk to you even as if you "were" babes .
When someone hasn't eaten for sometime they can't start eating meat and potatoes they have to start out with liquids. The same with believers. Adult babies. So we can call them babes. They have to start again. Hebrews 5:12-14
  • Alise on Hebrews 5 - 8 years ago
V.12 After receiving the Holy Ghost and being baptized in Jesus' name we become examples (teachers) of how to live before sinners but we can't pass the tests' God allows to come our way because we take things personal, we don't have the experience to be able to teach our brother how to live. We have to practice what we preach. We can't stay babes forever. We have to overcome our flesh!
  • BSP on Hebrews 5 - 8 years ago
Strong meat or solid food is needed to promote spiritual growth as verse 14 shows. This will help one to reach Christian maturity.
  • Orman pitter on Hebrews 5 - 8 years ago
I strongly, believes that every believer after coming to the knowledge of the grace of God, repented of our sins and being baptised should seek God to be filled with the Holy Spirit, because it's the power from on high, and we are lifeless without the power of God. A car without an engine won't be able to drive, so we ad Christians do need the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
  • Bobby Williams on Hebrews 5 - 8 years ago
This chapter informs us that only Jesus qualified to represent all humanity before a holy God as our great high priest. Though he suffered a physical death he didn't experience the penalty of spiritual death. Jesus's suffering and anguish as a human represented the points in which humanity suffers and he met the righteous requirements of God in his physical death but was raised in victory Rom 5-6.
  • Bill on Hebrews 5 - 8 years ago
vs 5 "today I have begotten thee" means the firstborn. And as the firstborn son He had more of an inheritance. This is great news for those who trust in Jesus for their justification and sanctification. They will rule and reign with him in the millennial kingdom.
  • Ibrahim on Hebrews 5 - 8 years ago
If Jesus prayed and cried out loud to the one who would save him from death and his prayers were heard and answered, it means he didn't die but God raised him up to himself alive, correct or not? Please explain it to me further more, I mean it's confusing.
  • Marcus on Hebrews 5 - 8 years ago
I really didn't know what to think of the chapter. However, that's why am still consuming milk and not strong meat. Lord help me to grow in your word. For I am blind.

2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

I totally agree with all comments because is our higher power and can to all things and we are here to spread his gospel. There are time I feel like a baby and when I feel like needing milk I pray a little pray and ask for meat of the word to know and understand what I need do.

A NEW VISION: I cannot see the mortal's flesh nor hear the mortal sigh. Mine eyes love not vain glory now nor list I to carnal minds. But by the grace of God mine eyes behold a fairer land and all the beauties of this earth have naught on which to stand. Nor do pleasures here I seek, but joys beyond compare for which my Savior died for me...that I might have a share. And now mine heart holds things devine, by prayer thru darkness apan. And Jesus intercedes for me and lays them in my hands....

Hebrews tell us that God ordains men for the priesthood for the things of God. That they may have compassion on the ignorant, and on those that are away from God. This honor is not chosen by man, but by God. God choices men for the priesthood from generation to generation, and even for today. They are to be the mediators between God and his people. We are chosen by God to preach the good news of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. That we may turn the people back around to God? God calls us his priesthood and his holy people. God the Father said that Jesus was the high priest forever after the order of Melchisedec, Aaron etc. It is only by study the word of God that I find understanding. I pray before I do anything in the name of Jesus. And by believing that Jesus will help me understand is when I find the meaning to his words. Sometimes I feel like I 've been in the same place for to long. Then when trouble comes I don 't have enough of the meat of the word to know what to do. I feel like am still a baby and have need of milk from the word of God.
