Discuss Isaiah 36

    Hi Mary.

I agree with Richard and this may also help.

The term is also used to describe a Hebrew custom which indicated deep sorrow. Upon the death of a relative or important personage, or when there was a great calamity, it was customary for the Hebrews to tear their garments. Reuben rent his clothes when he found that Joseph had been taken from the pit ( Genesis 37:29). The sons of Jacob rent their clothes when the cup was found in Benjamin's sack ( Genesis 44:13). A messenger came to Eli with his clothes rent to tell of the taking of the ark of God and of the death of his two sons ( 1 Samuel 4:12). David rent his garments when he heard that Absalom had slain his brothers ( 2 Samuel 13:31). See also 2 Samuel 15:32; 2 Kings 18:37; Isaiah 36:22; Jeremiah 41:5. Rending of clothes was also an expression of indignation. The high priest rent his garment when Jesus spoke what he thought was blasphemy ( Matthew 26:65).

    God bless.

Interesting that you bring up Hezekiah, the LORD several times put that name in my thoughts. In 2 Chronicles 28:27 - 2 Chronicles 29, 30, 31, Hezekiah did much good. 2 Chronicle 32:30,

I felt a warning also about being like Hezekiah. In 2 Kings 18:16 , Hezekiah "cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars._.' & gave it to the king of Assyira" I asked myself was it to save the people from war? Was it fear? Either way all that sacrifice & peace offering didn't stop the evil nor the attacks. 2 Kings 18:17-32, they even used that against Hezekiah when they mocked. 2 Kings 18:22, 2 Kings 18:29-30, 2 Chronicle 32, Isaiah 36:7-22,

    Then Hezekiah came to Isaiah 2 Kings 19:1-5, & sought-after the LORD 2Kings 19:14-16,

    Another warning I felt 2 Kings 20:12-18,

& 2Kings 20:19, he seemed unconcerned about the bad consequences Hezekiah himself had caused to his own offspring. 2 Chronicles 32:25-26, 2 Chronicles 32:27,

Hopefully these speak deeper to you as they did me. GOD help us * not give what is HOLY & sanctified to GOD over to enemies, * that we won't cause bad consequences to future generations, * that we will care about future generations & not life ourselves too highly with treasure. Remember Isaiah 1:23, Exodus 32:8, Deuteronomy 16:19,

Except receive the Gifts of GOD: 1 Corinthians 12, & 13

Hopefully this is welcome insight from my study.

Yes, I pray we go to the LORD 1st!!

That day above is the same day we of 2020 face also, meaning we have been besieged. Besieged by many evil powers or the lust of the eye, lust of the flesh or proud of life .These powers are both seen and unseen and like above they cry out for, to, GOD People to surrender to their sin. Such evils offer pleasure to us in return for surrendering, and other evils boldly threaten to deny or take away living comfort we have grown comfortable with. One way or another evil has lunched a global war and offence attack against the souls of all mankind to lead us into the lake of fire. But death is concurred and the battle is won through The Blood Of The Lamb, JESUS. John 3:16-21 is our only HOPE.

I just heard Dr. McGee's sermon on this chapter! He is always right on. I love how the king stands strong under threats and verbal assault of the enemy. This chapter teaches us to trust in the Lord, and seek him for counsel like the king did. Whether we are shaken or not, we will find the Lord is ready to help in time of need.

In life challenges will come and when they come the first thing the devil will do is to put fear on us so we can doubt the powerful God we have. But when you put your trust in Him, you will surely come out victorious.

When we are faced with adversity the enemy of our souls Satan will do say whatever he can to make us doubt that the LORD will deliver us in our situations. It is for us to trust in the LORD and know that if He did it before, He can do it again. All the LORD wants us to do is trust in Him and know that He is GOD!!!!

use tha tis what the lord says of those who believe him. If I wre rich in wealth I would probably think I didn't need or Lord to save me. It is not the wealth of money that makes you rich in abundance in God. It is the richness of a clean and knowledgeable , and understanding heart mind souL and strength. Not by our works , but His works within us. This is what allows us to Love our God and or neighbors as Jesus has delivered to us. In this we are rich for sure. How to be able to be a part of life in which others enjoy as well. Leaving them to wonder : "What is it hat makes a person be able leave good will in all that he does, This I want to be a part of"? This is the only works that I can understand, out if the works of Christ within us. And this is what Isaiah is saying here. is telling the congregations. "Do you want to listen to these men, Or do you want to hear what the true God has to tell us"? " Come to ME The Great I am, and you wil have the freedom of your own wells and fruits and breads of life"! Amen to our Righteous Savior, and His blessings upon us.
