Discuss Isaiah 39

Good Day Christian travelers! My wife in her devotions yesterday shared with me this verse:

"And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon." Isaiah 39:7 KJV

The treasure of the Kingdom of Christ should be preserved within and not shared with princes of Babylon. We can be ambassadors of this Kingdom to all that are drawn through the same gate that we passed through. Time was extended as part of this literal event in Hezekiah's life. Our life was extended from earthly to heavenly and must be preserved.

Ezekiel 44, Ezekiel 44:2-3, possibly the prophecy for Luke 19:28-48, Luke 21, notice Luke 21:37, Matthew 21, Mark 11, Notice Mark 11:16, Mark 12 Jesus still in the Temple Mark 13, notice Mark 13:1,3, as noted Jesus went & left, the same direction. John 10:23,

    Ezekiel 44:16,17, Revelation 7 note Revelation 7:14,15,

Ezekiel 47:1-10, healing living water, John 7:38, John 4:11,13,14, Matthew 9:35, Fishers, Ezekiel 47:9,10, Jeremiah 16:16, Matthew 4:19, Mark 1:17,

If you look at Ezekiel 1:1,2,3, they were already going into captivity as Prophesied by Isaiah 39:1-7, 2Kings 24:15, Jeremiah 52:31, before Daniel, Ezra & Nehemiah before the return & rebuilding, Ezekiel 48 - end; might have been the divine blueprint for the temple that was rebuilt before Jesus was born

    Matthew 1:17

    Hopefully these are helpful

    Olalekan fowodu,

You have wise words. However, there are other ways to look at this. From my view, I thought God showed much compassion towards Hezekiah, and for good reason. Hezekiah was perhaps the best king of Judah, he followed after the Lord, delighted in the Lord, and the Lord added to his kingdom after it was to be taken away. That is huge. Being told that he would live out his days in peace, lifted Hezekiah's spirit, and what was his crime? Hezekiah showed the visiting Babylonian royals all of Israels sacred treasures, silver and gold. God is not a respecter of men, even so, He sure did Hezekiah right. It makes me feel warm knowing that a good king was rewarded for his works.

Hezekiah was a prayerful king. He had a good relationship with his maker. However, Hezekiah did not do the right thing in this chapter 39. He felt he wouldn't be affected, so judgement could come upon the next generations. Who knows, if he interceded, the judgement could have been

averted. He was unconcerned because he was not under threat by any king neither was he sick, so he said, "Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days''.

As a believer, we must always pray for others, even if we are not directly affected or concern by the issue. Jesus Christ prayed for believers, and He is still interceding for the church and the world in general.

By just a guess possibly David wrote, 1st because David is given credit for many or most Psalms by pastoral reputation.

    2nd because the quote 10,000 shall fall at my right hand Psalms 91:7, 1Samuel 21:11, 1Samuel 18:7, 1Samuel 29:5,

    3rd, 1Chronicles 22:9, 3Chronicles 30:24-26, Isaiah 39:8, showing peace in Solomon's days & Hezekiah's.

    4th, Psalms 91:13 treacd upon the lion, 1Samuel 17:33-37,

Benaiah however could possibly be also because of

    1st, 1Chronicles 15:20,24, 1Chronicles 16:5,6, 1Chronicles 11:24, 1Kings 1:36, was noted with Psalmist

2nd, was mighty in battle 1Kings 1, and loyal to King David, King Solomon; GOD's appointed 1Chronicles 11:22-24, 1Chronicles 27:5,

    3rd, Benaiah slew a lion, 2Samuel 23:20, 1Chronicles 11:22,

    4th, 2Chronicles 20:14,

Hopefully these are helpful in your study

Yes Hezekiah did do the wrong thing, but not what you think,ISAIAH was upset because he told the enemy who the true creator was,all his house all his ritchers was the knowledge of the Father and that knowledge would be hidden from future generations by the king of Babylon, don't cast you pearls before swine

Everytime i read this passage i just tremble. How Hezekiah seemed to self concerned to really understand what he had done? I have heard we are most vulnerable after a mountaintop experience but this is devastating to read about.

What a joy reading your site on line each day. I think verse 8 should be The word of the LORD is good.

It is often said, "Don't let your right hand know what your left hand is doing". Sadly, Hezekiah set himself up to be invaded by his own enemy whom he perceived not to be. We need the wisdom of God to keep ourselves from all our enemies -- natural and supernatural. More so because the enemy is going to and fro in the earth, seeking whom he may devour!

In verse 8 we see Hezekiah submission to the will of God.
