Discuss Isaiah 47

    Thedorse,

So true, and I agree with much that you said.

Today, and foe many years now, Preachers don't preach and acknowledge the truth about sin, and everlasting hell, and they are leading their congregations straight down the wide path to hell! Matthew 25:41 James 3:1

We MUST fear God! This is the very beginning of knowledge. Proverbs 1:7

God is Vengeful and He tells us so. Hell is God's way of getting His vengeance. Isaiah 47:3

God knows us better than we could ever imagine. He knows, that if we have NO FEAR to motivate us to change our ways, we will continue in sin. God is also Love. He sacrificed his Son for us so thru Him we can recieved forgivness. He provides His Holy Spirit to break the bonds of sin. Preachers are not helping anyone by not preaching Hell and the fear of God!

If we are still repeatedly sinning..we DO NOT have God's Holy Spirit. Hebrews 10:26 God's Holy Spirit will not let us habitually sin.

Today, most so called Christian Pastors/Preachers are about the money. They don't want to focus on the sin in their congregation, if they do, they will lose their entire congregation. Sinners don't want to hear they are sinners, and they certainly don't want to think or hear about hell, they come to church to feel good about themselves and to be entertained. Churches today are all about making everyone feel good. Sad but true.

Which reminds me of this very powerful verse 2 Timothy 4:3 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;"

The plain truth is: Sin keeps us from our God!

    One Eighty,

    Part 5

We need to make a distinction from using the word "flesh" to denote biological flesh (our body, bones, blood, tissues, organs,

etc.), "flesh" meaning mortal mankind in general, and "flesh" meaning our sinful nature. When Adam and Eve were created all

of these forms of flesh were created good, without corruption. Man was made of biological materials, but also have spiritual and

soulful components which was uncorrupted, too. So, Scripture shows us that humans can be both fleshly and spiritual and be

good, but this was only before the fall of Adam and Eve. Angels do not have a fleshly biological nature like us. They are only

spiritual beings, but can be corrupted, as Satan and the fallen angels show us clearly. So, your deduction that Mankind needs to

be either fleshly or spiritual and not both is incorrect.

You also stated along the lines that "shouldn't anything that comes from God be exactly like Him when it comes to character,

Who or What God Is?" I will definitely say "no" to that query, because rocks, planets, energy are not exactly like God, nor are

angels and humans and animals created exactly like God. Even we can tell that animals, humans and angels are not exactly the

same either. God intended to make a vast innumerably diverse creation that was not exactly like Him. he never intended to

replicate Himself, because He cannot do that. It is impossible for God to create any creature exactly like Himself because He was

never created. The fact that this newly created creature was created by God shows that the two are not exactly similar to one

another. And if it was possible, then God would have created something beside Himself that was God and these beings could

then go on and create others like themselves leaving creation with an infinite number of gods. The Bible clearly states that God

is the only God that exists and none came before Him and none will be made after Him. ( Isaiah 47:8).

    Giannis,

Prophesy is unfolding rapidly, it never stopped and can be identified. Acquaint yourself with the prophets, what Jesus says in Matthew 24 and Luke 17. The prophets were shown our future, and this coming sixth trumpet, day of the Lord, scared them deeply, Ezekiel 21:7, Isaiah 13:8-9.

Christian's aren't scared because they weren't taught the proper tenants of the Bible, they think God will unconditionally protect them, no matter how badly their elected leaders behave. Will America will always sit a queen? Isaiah 47:7-11

The Bible is limited in its 1-4 trumpet descriptions. It is the last 3 end-time trumpets, 5, 6 & 7, that matter for this "last generation" (according to the signs). Half of Revelation 9 is dedicated to the fifth trumpet, the other half to the sixth trumpet. The sixth trumpet army smashes the fifth trumpet army to dust!!! Esau smashes Jacob, Obadiah 1. The king of the north smashes the king of the south, Daniel 11:40. The sixth trumpet is about one third of end-time prophesy; there's much written about it, enough for you to see prophesy unfolding in our time. Not many see what they read, let alone admit God is against backsliding America, Ezekiel 21:12.

Here's a big prophesy come to light in our time, but I don't expect it to fit in someone else's narrative:

Revelation 9:1-11 was 9-11-01, America is the fifth trumpet army, running a 20 year war on terror.

Revelation 9:4 America killed those men who did not have the seal of God in their foreheads (Muslims), and were told not to harm any green tree, and nothing green grows in the desert.

Revelation 9:6 The Muslims who were tortured at Abu Ghraib prison were seeking death, and couldn't find it.

We must be every careful attributing any other acts to eternal salvation. We must also be careful to understand the audience. A great error is thinking every verse is directed to ourselves. Remember Paul told timothy to be very careful and divide the word correctly. Baptism is a very deep subject, and over 10 different baptisms. i.e. water, fire, spirt etc. The only baptism we are concerned with in our present time is the one Paul spoke of. He's our example, the apostle to the gentiles.

1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

This one baptism is not of water (for we are not priests because Jesus is the mediator) it is done at the moment we are sealed. Unseen, and not felt.

    And when is that?

    What must be DONE?

Ac 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Ac 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

    Anything else?

Ro 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Ro 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

    1. Believe in the heart

    2. Confess with the mouth

    3. Call on His name ( Isa 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.)

    What are the steps?

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also TRUSTED, after that ye HEARD the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye BELIEVED, ye were SEALED with that holy Spirit of promise,

    1. Hear

    2. Believe

    3. Trust

    4. Sealed ( 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. )

The thief on the cross is a great example of Eph 1:13 in action

Do we know if Lazarus was Baptized ?
  • SJK1967 - In Reply on Isaiah 47 - 2 years ago
No. Baptism is not a requisite for salvation. Baptism is a form of discipleship. In order to be saved, all you need to do is believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for you, shed his blood for you, died and rose again. You must confess Him as your Lord and Saviour. Ask Him in to your heart and to save you. That's it. After you are saved, the normal next step is baptism, but it's not required.

Dear Marilyn , God has preserved His Word for all , you don't need to be a 'scholar' to understand God's plan of salvation , His Word is open to all , as long as you can read you can find the Truth in the Bible . It does require a decent level of commitment and an open heart and mind . If you fit the bill then it's all yours for the joy and appreciation . Happy reading , don't ever let anyone convince you that you are not clever enough or good enough or educated enough to understand God's word , it was preserved for you and God will help you to understand if you are willing to put the time and effort in .
  • Chris - In Reply on Isaiah 47 - 2 years ago
Hi Marilyn. Just to add to T. Levis' good answer, I think that in most cases, the contributors are simply Christians who love the Lord & His precious Word and keen to help others do the same. When a question is posed to us on these pages, any responses given must be based on how we understand that portion of Scripture based on what we have learnt in our studies or having received help from Church ministry or other helps. I couldn't say how many of us are 'scholars', as far as been through a theological college, though I certainly am not. Therefore, with that in mind, I would hope that folk who ask a question or seek a discussion on a subject, would take note of what is said, but always, I say, always, go back to the Scripture & allow God's Spirit to lead you.

So yes, you may see comments on a matter that appear completely different or opposite to each other (e.g. about the rapture of the Church or the Trinity doctrine), but hopefully with the Scriptures given to support the belief, one can do further revision of the Scriptures to proceed further in understanding. If all you get is confusion after reading the responses, it's best to leave off it & continue to seek the Spirit's Help. Remembering, that "God is not the author of confusion, but of peace", therefore let the Spirit Who gives Peace, rule your heart & He alone will open up the Word to you as you wait on Him.

    Marilyn Mitchell,

The comments & questions are answered primarily on volunteer basis. My education was in Law, maybe that's why I like to stick to evidence straight in scripture, not hearsay, or adding to facts. I believe there are many well educated volunteers in this vast team that stretches all around the globe, throughout the USA, & has an occasional post from French, Spanish but the site has, at this point says it will stay in English only for now. Because of the vastness of geographic differences, understanding each others perspectives, up bringings, ways of speaking even slang, can be little difficult at times, especially adding theological words. Acts 4:13,

Jesus said He would send us the Holy Spirit & 1John 2:27, that The Holy Spirit will teach us, John 14:26,

    James 1:5,

    Hopefully this is helpful

Isaiah 47:11 Babylon's sudden destruction will not be put off.
  • Roman - In Reply on Isaiah 47 - 2 years ago
    Richard,

The lady of kingdoms is America, who else can it be? This chapter is about the day of the Lord and Mystery Babylon's fall.

Compare verses 8-9 to Jeremiah 15:8-9 as they compliment each other. "Their widows are increased....I have caused him (beast) to fall upon it suddenly (in one moment in one day), and terrors upon the city (nation)".

The Spoiler is the beast at noonday = 3 PM EST when the sun is high in the sky. This is why Mystery Babylon falls while it was yet day, by 4 PM EST.

America is that city (metaphor) that sits on 7 continents, Mystery Babylon, working hand in hand with her allies. They will all go dark judgment day.
  • GiGi - In Reply on Isaiah 47 - 2 years ago
    Hi Richard,

I agree that U.S.A. has so much repentance to do. We have degraded this lovely nation by abandoning Christ and His principles. Another thought, perhaps the "Lady" is actually the Queen of England. But who knows. Queen Elizabeth has only a few more years left to live, but the monarchy will continue. so, England is considered the mother land and it is surrounded by many waters.
  • Richard H Priday on Isaiah 47 - 2 years ago
When we look at Babylon and it's "daughter" (verse 1); we see many characteristics similar to the USA. Our nation certainly has occult practices associated with the construction of cities such as Washington DC (the monument and street patterns of downtown); the back of the dollar bill; and the more recent proliferation of the drug (pharmakia) and pornography industry which is now characteristic of online websites that infect the entire world. The "lady" of kingdoms mentioned in verse 5 certainly could be an analogy to the pagan origin of the Statue of Liberty in New York City; where many consider the city representing economic Babylon is. Our prosperity and military strength is unparalleled; and we are situated on many waters; as other verses in Jeremiah describe. It is true; of course that such activities in the occult also are present in other areas of the world; including the Mideast where it appears an ecumenical plan for one world religion is well underway. The patience of God in forestalling judgment over the roughly 60 million abortions our nation has performed certainly isn't unique either; although we pioneered the industry and sadly; upon examination it appears such practices were fairly widespread going well back into the 19th Century in America. Sudden destruction stated in verse 11 will bring the fire of hell of verse 14 which no one can deliver themselves from. We do have a Christian heritage as well; but this world is not our home. We do best to keep the mindset of being adopted children who are pilgrims in this life. It is when things seem comfortable that we are at greatest risk to become lukewarm and think things will always remain the same. Remember Revelation; He comes quickly.

Isaiah 47:7-9 these few versus are all about the Lord Jesus Christ and the day he would be killed by his wife, God married Israel as his wife, and they said in their heart I shall never be a widow, the reason is my husband can never die. But God said to the mother of harlots from Revelation 18:7 and through the prophet Isaiah two things will happen to you in one day. The day you kill your husband the Lord Jesus Christ, you shall become a widow, in that day you shall know the loss of Children, for their boast was that they could never have loss of children because God promised Abraham, his seed would be like the sand of the sea and the stars of heaven. Yet when the Lord Jesus died, in that died Israel stopped producing children for God through a genealogy, now you must be born again to become a child of God and Israel rejects that truth, therefore have they become a widow and childless, in one day.

The Bible does not teach eternal conscious torment. The consistent testimony of scripture is that "the wages of sin is death," and not eternal life. Romans 6:23; Genesis 2:17; Ezekiel 18:30-32; 1 John 5:12. It was the devil who first taught that one could sin and still have eternal life. Genesis 3:4. Jesus came to save us from perishing, and to give us eternal life, not to save us from living forever. John 3:16.

Hellfire is something that takes place at the end of this world, and not at death. John 5:28,29; Matthew 13:40. In it, soul and body are completely destroyed. Matthew 10:28; 2 Thess 1:9. It will consume the wicked into ashes. Revelation 20:9; Malachi 4:1-3; Psalm 37:20. Even the devil will be consumed to ashes. Ezekiel 28:18,19; Isaiah 47:14.

In the new earth, when all sin has been eradicated, there will be no more suffering or pain or death. Revelation 21:4.

Look how these 2 end-time scriptures intertwine, like most all can. The description of Babylon sounds like a familiar nation, arrogant nation. The plagues initiate from the attack, and result in uncontrollable, open air, perpetuating diseases. Dead, burnt, rotting bodies will be a problem.

( Revelation 18:7) How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

( Isaiah 47:9) But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.

( Revelation 18:8) Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

Brother David, May CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

The scriptures and meaning behind those scriptures I quoted to you are in DIRECT OPPOSITION to there being a LITERAL HELL.

So EACH has to be reconciled to each other through scripture.

Scripture says those in the first resurrection (resurrected with Christ) will not see death but will be instantly in the presence of Christ, in Spirit, with a glorified body.

Scripture says those in the second resurrection will be raise back in their sinful flesh and cast alive into the lake of fire.

If the lake of fire is LITERAL FIRE those thrown into it alive will LITERAL DIE within seconds. Therefore there would be no nations to rule and judge in the ages to come. This doesn't reconcile our two different scriptures.

If the lake of fire represents the judgement IN CHRIST who is a consuming FIRE, then the two scriptures reconcile with each other.

Isaiah 10:16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of Host, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory (priest) he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

Isaiah 4:4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purge the blood of (new) Jerusalem from the midst (CHRIST IN YOU) thereof by the SPIRIT OF JUDGEMENT and the SPIRIT OF BURNING.

Isaiah 47:14 Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not delivery themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to set before it.

This is also spiritual fire from the fact you can't warm yourself from it. The ones in the first resurrection also have to go through this fire.

Mark 4:49 And everyone shall be salted with FIRE.

Matthew 3:11 ....he shall baptise you with the Holy Ghost and FIRE.
