Discuss Isaiah 8

    Hi Momsage.

You stated, "The Old Testament is the foundation; the NT builds on that foundation.

    Testament means covenant.

Here I will highlight some verses in Hebrews 9:1-28.

    8) The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:

    9) Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;

    10) Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

    11) But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

    23) It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

    24) For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

Verse 11 says, "not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building.

I will use that verse to springboard us onto the foundation which we build on that was prophesied in the OT but was rejected because of Israel blindness.

    Isaiah 8:14

    1 Peter 2:6-8

    1 Corinthians 3:11

    Ephesians 2:20

    Romans 9:31-33.

When a building is being erected the corner stone is the first stone layed and where everything is squared and leveled.

Those who was saved in the OT also rested on this foundation.

    God bless.

Jesus showed who he was to the multitudes on hoping they will believe but they did not. He fed them, healed them and when he preached to them they ran away.

John 6:5When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

Jesus did not want to attract attention that is the last thing he needed to be an earthly king when he is already our heavenly king. This was all prophesied in Isaiah 8:16-17. If Jesus was made an earthly king, God would have lost his only Son.

Isaiah 8:16] Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

[17] And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

    Hi David.

    Part 1

David, I didn't give you my definition of Church. I gave you the Strongs definition of Church.

    ekklsia

    Pronunciation: ek-klay-see'-ah

Definition: From a compound of G1537 and a derivative of G2564; a calling out that is (concretely) a popular meeting especially a religious congregation (Jewish synagogue or Christian community of members on earth or saints in heaven or both): - assembly church.

Christ said upon this rock he will build "HIS" Church. It's His calling out or Gathering, It's not by Church membership. It's the Holyspirit the puts the true believers in the body of Christ, "By faith.

We will have to agree to disagree on the Church issue.

    David, Concerning the rock.

    You said.

The "rock" is Christ Himself. It is not what I describe.

Yes, the rock is Christ! Thats exactly what I described!

David Israel stumbled at that rock, this was not Christ church in the wilderness.

Isaiah 8:14. And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Acts 4:10-11. Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

    Study these verses also.

    Matthew 21:33-43

    1 Peter 2:6-9.

    Romans 9:31-33.

    See Part 2

Davtid you have said over and over again

"There is one and only one Judgment and Salvation Program for Mankind throughout time. And that Program, the Gospel, is circumscribed by the Bible Alone and in its Entirety.

    Who's debating that?

I agree and been saying that exclusively since I have been on this site!

However, I don't even recall THAT being a part of this conversation!

    At least not from me.

Further insights on prophecy: Conspiracies vs fulfillment

The line of demarcation exists when we consider 2 Thessalonians 2:6-7. For now; the gates of hell do not prevail against the church ( Matt. 16:18); but in the Tribulation or time of Jacob's trouble they will be overcome ( Rev. 13:7; Daniel 7:25). While we remain as salt and light the putrification is held back along with the final fulfillments of prophecies.

Ezekiel 38 is something geopolitically that seems to have aligned uniquely with Iran; Turkey and Russian agreements. As with anything else; those who look to the current war in Ukraine or any other conflicts basically are repeating centuries old patterns.

The downfall of currencies also seems to have been thwarted temporarily as of the last few days; apparently some small countries are utilizing the dollar more; and there seems to be both a new gold standard backed currency with the BRICS nations; and the concept of electronic currency concurrently happening; for now. Certainly there are harbingers of things to come. The recent lowering in prices of gold and silver (See Zephaniah 1:18; Ezekiel 7:19; and James 5:3) could indicate a collapse either just before the Tribulation and or during it (perhaps further enforced by Antichrist). To have the Mark of the Beast all other trade methodologies must be cancelled; I don't believe that can happen prior to the Rapture of the church in entirety.

Isaiah 8:12 reminds us not to call everything "conspiracy" that everyone else says is. The two dangers we have are thinking everything is an indication that the end has come; OR belittling the literal final fulfillment after all the predictions of the past proved false. Such could of course be argued with verses such as 1 Cor. 15:52 on the Rapture (Rapturo in Latin). Full Preterists think everything happened by 70 AD. Most think it was partially fulfilled; which again makes the most sense with a literal interpretation of the texts.

    More to come...

Everyone is capable of imagining all types of truths that fit their own agendas. I have without a doubt proved from Scripture that any so called believer is bound by the ten commandments. The scripture I shared is only scratching the surface, I haven't even begun to share all the scriptures.

    1 John 2:4

"He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

    Isaiah 8:20

"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." and on and on. Now if you want to believe some other religion then you have the right, but do not assume you are following the gospel of christ, and then try and lead others down the same path of darkness.

If you want to learn ask me a question I will answer with the word then all debating comes to an end!!

    Damascus was a place mentioned several times in Old Testament, Genesis 14:15, Genesis 15:2, 2Samuel 8:5,6, 1Kings 11:1-25, 1Kings 19:14-18, 1Kings 20, 2Chronicles 16,

    2Kings 5,

    2Kings 8, notice 2Kings 8:12,13, 2Chronicles 24:23, 2Chronicles 28:5,23,

    Isaiah 7:8,9, Isaiah 8:4, Isaiah 10:9, Isaiah 17, James 1:5,

In the New Testament it's the road to Damascus was the place of Saul's conversion to Paul: Acts 9, Acts 22, Acts 26, it's symbolic to many Christians as a turning point in Christian faith.

Hopefully these are helpful in your study

    The Gospel: Pure and uncompromised

Matthew 12:34 states that "out of the abundance of the heart; the mouth speaketh." Isaiah 8:20 speaking about those who are false Prophets says "to the word and the testimony". They are said if not to speak the truth to have "no light of the dawn". Contrast this with Revelation 12:11 where the word of their testimony of the Tribulation martyrs indicates that they "loved not their lives unto the death." With today's churches having doctrines as skewed as they are we aren't safe to assume that occultic demonic "doctrines of demons" haven't already infected many congregations as 1 Timothy 4:1 warns. But for the remainder of this discussion I will assume that at least a respectable version of the scriptures is being preached in the churches I am examining here.

The Lord stated how "a little leaven ruins the whole loaf". ( Galatians 5:9 and other verses). No one is going to offer arsenic with a little inert ingredient to temper the flavor as an appetizer; but if being devious will put a little poison in something that is tasty. Satan won't come along saying that he is a deceiver; liar and murdurer and by the way wouldn't you like to join my cause? Admittedly there are a few who are sadistic enough to play the fiddle with the Devil as it were with some fantasy that they are so vile that they can command the Devil what to do; and there are some who despite knowing his nature think that Satan won't grind them into powder as was requested by Satan to Christ in the case of Peter.

The greatest danger; therefore lies when sin enters within the tent; the congregation of meeting and scripture is mixed in to instill false confidence in one's spiritual standing; or twisted to justify what eventually becomes a festering cancer after initially being toyed with by a few in idle conversation. There is also the ever present danger of trying to justify a doctrine; either true or false by turning literal scriptures to figurative.

This chapter shows how the King of Assyria was to overtake the land before Isaiah's son was beyond toddler stage and take their wealth (verse 4). This could very well allude to the final "Assyrian" mentioned in Isaiah 10; and other passages that describe one of the names for Antichrist. As in other chapters in the book of Isaiah; judgment is clearly given due to people's lack of fear in God alone (verse 13). Verse 14 singles out both houses of Israel (likely the northern and southern Kingdoms) who reject the Rock of Christ for protection hence He becomes their enemy. The confederacy in verse 9 through 12 may very well also allude to the Tribulation where trust in the Antichrist and the confederacy of nations in the Daniel 9:27 treaty will become a trap for those trusting in this peace plan to protect them from attack. Their destruction after attacking Israel is clear in verse 9.d God's hidden status toward Israel in verse 17; and the children God has given "me" in verse 18 has been explained as a veiled reference to those raptured who were "given to Christ" as those the Father chose to be redeemed. The rest of the passage in verses 19 to 22 once again demonstrates the view of those "earth dwellers" ( Rev. 11:10; 13:8; etc). The unregenerated unprotected from the seal judgments and those to follow will curse both "their king and their God" (verse 21); much like what occurs in descriptions of the bowl judgments in Revelation.

They are as the last verse in this chapter indicates "driven to darkness". Our only hope is Christ; and we must be saved from our fallen state in THIS lifetime; once our soul separates from our body it is too late to change.

    Chris,

I've really been in prayer today, as Russia is experiencing drought and fires are decimating the landscape, as it is in USA. Fires reaching to Oregon!

Europe is under massive floods with great loss of life in several countries.

Last week China had a 9.9 quake. China had a 7.1 quake today & destroyed a major dam. It's flooding everywhere also due to a tsunami that hit them too. The pictures on YouTube are mind-boggling. Philippine island have a volcano has erupted 7 TIMES; Named TAAL.

Millions of people have left California the past 1 and half years. Antarctica is breaking up and floating away. They've found earth under it.

I think God is truly WARNING us to get ready. To tell people this is Matthew 24 on the evening news every day.

    I'm thinking of making my own tracts and placing them on car windshields at the grocery stores. Anyone can go home and look at those disasters on YouTube;

with a brief mention that all this has been prophesied in the Bible. Birth pains.

I'm wondering how much money governments think they can print up? Could the Abrahamic Accord be the start of the 7 years? Who can step in here right now and say Peace Peace??

I think our comment room needs to lean to the evangelistic comments amongst us. People in many countries may come in here wondering what's going on?

I just can't imagine people trying to act like none of this is happening.

On the other hand... what better time for a leader to be raised up with answers. Someone who says He can fix this. Someone wiser than the free-for-all that runs like a merry-go-round every day in Washington DC.

God is allowing EVERYONE to see what it's going to be like to the 10th Power, the Day After the Rapture

    Caught Up

    In the Clouds

Darkness: It is also a symbol of ignorance ( Isa. 9:2; 60:2; Matt. 6:23) and of death ( Job 10:21; 17:13), John 1:5; Isaiah 8:21-22

I believe the Lord is calling you to intercessory prayer. Your burden is very palpable. Rick Renner ministries online are a large group of intercessors. You might look at his website.

Since all this church persecution started, I've often thought we should have church services in church grounds or public parks. Belting out, "What A Mighty God We Serve!" Our God is an Awesome God (2 of my favs)

Kinda like a soccer game where everyone brings their own fold out chair and a water. Why can't we take it outside?

In the 80's, the street ministers and some churches showed the old rapture movies on the Courthouse lawn or someone's private lot with electricity to run the movies. We all sat on quilts. It was loads of fun and togetherness. Lots of strangers came and sat down to watch it too. There was plenty of people around to ask people if they wanted to receive Christ as their Savior?

How hard is it to rig a microphone and let people tell 5 minutes of their testimony?

The 1 time in history when we really should impeach a few people and we're paralyzed with fear? I don't understand it. If it's because of stimulus checks ? It ought not be. That's your childs future being bankrupted.

There's no such thing as free flowing money in this life. Anyone notice the drought? Cost of food is going through the roof.

It seems to me that America aborted their future tax payers. The book of Leviticus 26 warns that the children will eat their parents. They are eating you. Free room and board, open fridge, no survival skills; just consuming skills.

Try to think this through. You have to lead these kids. God knows our country's leaders aren't going to do it. They got us all immobilized and scared.

Somehow we have to find strength to follow the one person who had all the answers: JESUS.
  • Warren Gibbs on Isaiah 8:17 - 3 years ago
This is exactly the case with the churches in America today. God is hiding his face from them. They have no salt within themselves as is abundantly proven by their cowardly response to the states covid 19 restrictions forbidding them to meet but in very small numbers, and requiring they sit all muffled up and 5, 6, 7, or 8 feet apart at that. The word of the Lord is "forsake not the assembling of your selves together as the manner of some is." But what have we done? We have decided to obey man rather than God. So what has God done? He has done exactly what he said he would. We have forsaken him. So he has forsaken us, and is hiding his face from us.

"And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets."

All these means is that the message giving by someone who claims to be a "prophet" must be subject(or tested by previous prophetic messages) to what other prophets have spoken. If the message contradicts scripture and the prophets, the such individual is not a prophet of God. His message must be subject to the spirit of truth and if speaks against it, there is no light in them. ( Isaiah 8:20) To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

"For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints."

I think you're referring to Isaiah 8:19. If so, maybe if I gave a transliteration of that verse:

'When those that come to you & suggest you enquire after those who consult the spirit world: to the wizards who say they have the ability to see into the future or babble sounds imitating the spirits. Reject them. Shouldn't you rather be seeking after the Living God to worship Him & get His counsel? Does it make sense for the living to seek help & advice from those who have died?

I realize this is a loose & long translation, but I've written it so you can get a better understanding.

    To CARLETON

The messages we post each are indeed according to the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him ( John 14:17). Please note the word 'cannot'.

We speak with a clear conscience towards God and toward men ( Acts 24:16), and we say the truth in Christ, we lie not, our conscience also bearing us witness in the Holy Ghost ( Romans 9:1).

The time has come when it must be said: You are a follower of an image of a false god and a false Christ and if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9).

The comments you post are misleading, empty and without basis or spiritual wisdom and knowledge. With great swelling words you speak of God's love, but we know you, that ye have not the love of God in you ( John 5:42). When we say we know you, it means 'spiritually'. The believers judge after the spirit of man ( John 8:15).

The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is everyone that is born of the Spirit ( John 3:8).

Only through 'True Repentance' will God be able to reveal Himself, and adopt you as His sons and daughters ( Rom. 8:15,23; 2 Cor.6:18; Gal. 4:5; Eph. 1:5; Hebr. 12:5; 1 John 3:1).

The word 'Repent' means a lot more than what people by nature have been conditioned to believe. It is the key principle of all the teachings of Jesus Christ and the axiom (basis) of the Word of God and a prerequisite and primary requirement for the salvation of mankind. It actually means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).

You are of the world: therefore do you speak of the world and the world hears you ( John 4:4).

We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth and the spirit of error ( 1 John 4:6; Isaiah 8:20).

    Isaiah 8:19

And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits (demons), and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

    Chris,

    Page 2

The return of The Lord and Savior comes with a cleansing of the earth. No person, good or bad, will be in a flesh body for that, look at 2 Peter 3:10-12, and is why "flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven."

As far as the trumpets of the Numbers 10:1-10, and any other mention of trumpets in the OT, it is an example of a call to action. Paul (Saul) was a repenting Zealot who had a tough time forgiving himself for previous sins. Revelation, however, speaks specifically of 7 Seals, 7 Trumpets, and 7 Vials; not 8 or 15. There should be no confusion.

All Scripture we are given is the collective inspired word of God, not Moses or Daniel or Paul or John. The book of Revelation is not the revelation of John, it is the Revelation (revealing) of (the words) of Jesus Christ (to John and to all of us). It is improbable that the OT and NT authors (such as Paul) would have complete (if any) comprehension of the implication of God's words given to them that would have fulfillment in the future. For example, Isaiah 7:14 declares that a virgin would conceive. This particular event literally came to pass in the days of Isaiah, as those words were fulfilled in the 3rd year of Ahaz, (look at Isaiah 8:4). We all are also aware of the figurative understanding of the future fulfillment of this in the literal birth of the Savior of the world ( Matthew 1:23).

There is a false video coming to some people's Messenger accounts. It claims that the Bible has been supernaturally changed. It has not. The video was apparently done by people who are not familiar with the Bible, seeking to weaken the faith of those who are not familiar with the Bible. One of the words that this video questioned was the appearance of the name Maher-shalal-hash-baz in the King James Version of the Bible. That is quite true. However, on this page we see who is doing the changing. For some unknown reason the hyphens have been removed from the name! The hyphens do no harm. They should never have been removed. I would find and fire the person who made that change!

Turn off your media when you're not watching it. It's actually a conduit for evil.

Believe it or not, Isaiah heard computers. Isaiah 8:18-22.

Note: familiar spirits (demons), follow families. They can hang around at an old house and "haunt" it, till a relative of the family shows up. Christians can make them leave by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth!

I turn my media off unless there is a particular program I want to watch. I don't watch 95% of it. I read proverbs to my grandson. He prays over all our meals. He's 7 and toothless LoL

James Cardozo: we weren't to mark up our bodies. Back then it was probably more likely to get infections; there were no antibiotics. And like now, if you want to get some taken off, I'm guessing it's expensive?

In the 1960's, we had gatherings in the park and PAINTED each other, made hats of flowers.... the "all you need is love" generation. The first generation to let their kids raise themselves.

Every generation since then has had to reach farther and deeper to be cool or weirder than their parents...who gradually stopped following God, to follow that greenback in the sky :/ The LOVE of money is the ROOT of all evil. We can't take it with us, you know? Live simpler - less problems.

Isaiah 8:19-20. I'm gonna preach it again: wizards that PEEP and MUTTER are not God. We run to godless Google to look for answers 19 times a day. Computers and all the amazing electronics are not your friends. We're being tracked with cookies and by data miners. How did Isaiah see this? The Holy Ghost ratted out the future.

Get tracked for following God! Search the scriptures! See what other gems of wisdom are laying right there for us to trip over.

Don't you see? The spirit of Antichrist is already here. We're all being tracked. If we take The Mark of the Beast, we're already dead. Tattoos aren't the mark of the BEAST. You're going to be ordered to take it in your hand or upon your forehead... so you can use your money. You're going to be forced to worship him as if he was god. The REAL God, almighty God will not receive you into the Kingdom with that mark! You're dead, remember?

Now you have a responsibility to preach this truth to your friends. HUGE difference between a tattoo and a EVIL mark from Antichrist. He, false prophet and Satan are all headed for the Lake of Fire. It's not a beach you know.

Quit sinning now, Run to Jesus and be born again!! Have your name written in the Lambs book of LIFE. Tell your friends you are SAVED !

Someone needs to be brave and just get it down to bare bones about the Rapture; and the Second Coming. Two separate events.

The bare bones is this: quit waiting for some big sign post in the sky that says it's going to be tonight or next week. Our time for sin is done. Quit wondering and open up the door of your heart that Jesus is knocking on.

Give your life to Jesus Christ... and take His Life. Accept him as your Savior and Lord.

Take yourself OFF of the throne of your heart....and PUT Jesus on that throne. Do it now!

End your fleshly, worldly lifestyle and begin to live for Jesus only. If the Holy Spirit cringes in your home....get rid of the idols.

You cannot learn the Bible with media all over your home. Stop now and read this passage: it's about the media!! Isaiah 8:18-22. Wizards that peep and mutter are computers that are hooked up to internet, Facebook, evil Twitter of voices of heartless hell bound people. Verse 20, because there is NO LIGHT in them! People feed themselves on garbage every day. No wonder there is no sense of stability in their christian walk.

We're living in Bottom Line days here! The moment Jesus speaks COME UP, we are gone. The door is shut.

Avoid all the confusion of varying opinions. BE BORN AGAIN NOW. Then you won't have to wonder when THE MOMENT will be. Your ticket is punched. You are ready to board!!

We are surely going to see Matthew 24 bloom and spread out across the world. Time for lively debates has passed. If you care so much, go next door and see if your neighbor is ready....and to others on the street. Romans chapter one.

If other people are not saved; do not want to be saved; ask you to leave ( Romans 1)

They are dead already. Noah's world drowned. This world is going by fire.

It blows my mind that people are not one bit curious about New Jerusalem? Are not highly excited about meeting the Son of God. Beloveds, look forward. Be ready. Keep your eyes on Jesus.

Seek Jesus Christ and in doing so the Lord offers the PARDON FROM OUR SINS! This is the life saving way of Almighty Divine Creator. The gifts of mercy and grace are the greatest in all the world. The Father's love for us is so incredibly beautiful. O for the day when Corruption but's on Incorruption and Mortality will but on Inmortality. In the twinkling of an eye sin will never be thought of again and we will be holy as He is Holy. The Light of the Father's Glory is All in All that matters. The Lamb of God will be the object of our Worship into Eternity. Nothing else should matter in this earthbound life knowing that our future is the Great hope of the fallen sinner, in need of a Savior.

Jesus became the Son of Man when the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary and conception began. He was Joseph's son as a baby to the community but when he began his ministry, He said he was the son of man.
