verse 4 pointed out that friendship with the world is making himself an enemy of god..why?because the whole world is under the control of satan and his allies using religions, politics and commerce to impose traditions, customs and occassions. It is now clear that the enemy of god participates or involves in traditions customs and occassions. 1john 2:15-17, john 17:14-16, john 15:19

Vanity: the quality of being worthless or futile excessive pride in or admiration of one's own appearance or achievements. I think it means that Solomon felt our life on earth seemed insignificant compared to what's really important. We come from dust and return to dust when we die, such a short existence. James 4:14 says our life is a vapor.

I think if alot of us would re-dedicate ourselves to the pure words of the Lord, we will see revival. This chapter is an exortation!

LORD I OFFER MY LIFE TO YOU: Our purpose on earth is not to get lost in the journey through life-- But to be a Beacon of Light so that others may find their way. .. The Lord never fails to give us new Blessings every time we wake up. Waking up alive and well is already a miracle. A BLESSING WE OWE TO HIM: PRAISE HIM ALWAYS!!!

We must do the good things we have known from the word of God,because any believe who fails to implement the good things as opportunity present itself will receive the same reward as a sinner.

This is such a powerful passage in scripture! We need to be asking the Lord the right things for the right reasons. God will not hear our prayers if we don't. God help me to humble myself daily, and to realize that without you i an do nothing. Generation z needs this truth! They need God! America is sinking fast we need revival, and this is where it starts! By getting our hearts pure for His Glory

THE BIBLE TELLS US SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD THE ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE ADDED UNTO YOU. BESIDES THAT THE DEVIL DO NOT HAVE ANY POWER OVER US,ITS WHAT WE ALLOW HIM TO DO. BUT OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST GAVE US VICTORY IN ALL WE DO. BUT YOU GOT TO PUT HIM FIRST IN YOUR LIFE.

Submitting to God is a daily process. In this great controversy between good and evil a total surrender to the power of God, through a life of devotion and sacrifice, is our only remedy to overcome evil. The more we focus on Jesus and His Righteousness then the things of the world will go strangely dim. I pray that we will all love Jesus more, so that our appetite for sinning will become extinct.

We are to judge not the heart but the actions and by the fruits of others. Politics and Christianity the two MOST valuable things we can speak about are almost being hushed in this society today. God said to also put the Armour of God on daily, are we doing that Christian? How else can we expect to go out there and fight the fiery darts of the wicked? They come from all directions.

The book of James is a good book to read, but we must go back to the beginning, where it all began and where we became as one, it was God that destroyed the earth and all that was on it, and then began again with Noah and his family. We are all the same the only difference is male and female, and good and evil, remember Good is God, so we should try to be good to one another.

This chapter was discussed at my church today. I've been praying for a lot of things for sometime, and have almost gave up. Why has God not answered my prayers. In some ways the things I wanted were for me. I wanted to be blessed to continue to sin per say. This is the chapter I needed to see what I have been doing wrong for so long.

What we should already have as an ingrained fact in our minds; is that which the Lord already has told us of, everything to expect, and that all of our Brethren, before and after, commonly must experience; which is for the proving of our character, to whether we will be counted worthy to enter into the kingdom of God, and be called the companions of our Lord Jesus Christ: To him that OVERCOMES...!

We must humble ourselves. This can mean performing lowly tasks and readjusting our view of ourselves and others. Jehovah God is sure to take notice of such humbleness in an individual and will exalt that individual in due time.

Patience is a virtue. We may have a tendency to push ahead and act as we see fit. However, we need to be humble, recognize we need Jehovah's help in all aspects of our lives, and seek his guidance through the scriptures. Then in due time we can receive a blessing.

Spivey: Everything ends in death because that's what God has decided Heb 9:27 ...it's appointed unto man once to die.... And we cannot choose how long we should live b'cos life is not ours Life belongs to God He decides how long one should live. James 4:13-15 If you are a true child of God, the process of death: long sickness might be scary but not death itself. After all you are going home.

  • SK James on James 4 - 7 years ago
We were made by God. We are His. To submit to God is to turn away from our own sinful will and return ourselves to Gods way. Anything less than this is selling ourselves short. Having been born on all Saints day and given the name James I am truly appreciative of being allowed the time to come to my senses.
