Discuss Jeremiah 16

    Amen Jema.

Israel was the instrument used by God to introduce himself as the true and living Mighty God that provides to a pagan idol worshipping world.

They also displayed the incompetence of man in his natural state and the need of a savior.

God always keeps his promises and unconditional covenants.

He made Promises to Abraham that has yet to be fulfilled!

He showed his good will toward them in Babylon and in Egypt and he will do it again when he gather them from the four corners of the earth and bring them back into their own land.

    Jeremiah 16:14-15.

    Jeremiah 23:5-8.

    Ezekiel 36:17-28.

    God bless.

    Hi David,

    Ephesians 3:3-4.

The word Mystery in the Greek is used a little different than the way we use the word.

Mystery in the Greek is "musterion" it means something divine that has been unknown up until now but is here now being divinely revealed. "Christ IN US" " The kingdom is at hand" And the kingdom is within you etc.

When God mentions Israel in the OT, he's talking about The Nation of Israel associated with the land.

Are the 12 tribes of Israel a idiom for the Church as well?

Who are those out of the Church is called the remnant of Israel?

When did God scatter them (The Church) among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries?

When God is talking about Israel, he us NEVER talking about the Church. In fact, he makes a great distinction between Israel and the Church. Those who are post cross "Jew and Gentiles make up the Church. However, that union was hid in the OT, Salvation to the Gentiles was mentioned but not as one body. Also, the Church never had geographic land! So how can you bring them back from all nations to the "land" of Israel. The land of Israel belongs to the 12 tribes of Israel. scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries:

Can Jeremiah 16:14-15 be applied to the Church?

"Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

But The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers."

Jeremiah 23:5 makes it clear along with many other verses.

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

    God bless.

    Hi Brother Carleton.

I agree! Daniel and many prophets and Apostles were a instrument for the Lord.

They gave God glory, God worked mightily through them.

Israel was and still is an Instrument for the Lord, and their tune is not done playing!

It's going to come a time when the world will see the glory of God through them again instead of despising them. Jeremiah 16:14-15.

Much of the church today is antisemitic because lack of knowledge of the word of God.

Some say the teaching of the Talmud is the primary writings for all of Israel since the Babylonian and it teaches the Israelites to murder kill and hate other people but I don't hold that view and the Bible doesn't teach it.

They also had the writings of Moses as seen in Nehemiah 8:3-18.

The Jews was told to be separated from the world and the world hated them as well as today, including many false Christians.

When Israel left Babylon they had the same writtings that clearly tells them in Leviticus 19:33-34 not to oppress the stranger.

They all didn't do that, But we don't focus on the ethnic group, we focus on the remnant.

Israel history wasn't perfect and neither was the Church!

    Today we are not perfect!

Our nation is not perfect! I've seen these same people that criticize Israel but yet by their own mouth, Justify slavery in our Country!

They must consider Matthew 7:1-2."Judge not, that ye be not judged.

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

    If we read Ezekiel 16:1-63

We will see the sin of Israel. They married/Joined themselves to the Spirit of the World as we have done as well.

So the holocaust and there history of turmoil was them departing the God that Provides.

Daniel gave a great example how to rise in to world powers and not conform to their culture.

They didn't rub off on him,

    He rubbed off on them!

    Read Daniel 4:1-37.

    God bless.

Hi Jema. Thank you for your question. I'm amongst those who believe, according to God's Word, that Israel have been, presently is, & will ever be a special people appointed & preserved by God, and to whom all the promises of the OT were made & will be fulfilled. The Church stands only on the merits of God reaching out to the world with the Gospel of His Christ, that we too might receive the opportunity & blessing that was given to Israel, but they spurned God's Love, resting on their heritage & misunderstanding of the Scriptures. All Israel, as all unbelieving Gentiles rejecting the offer of Salvation are doomed - those saved from Israel & the Gentiles now, are received as God's special possession, incorporated in His Church. Yet, Israel as a people will be kept & will go into that time of "Jacob's Trouble": Jeremiah 30:7 (the Great Tribulation), to the end that God's Purposes for them will be fulfilled & those who turn to the Lord, will reign with Him in His Kingdom. In other words, another opportunity will be given them & also to the Gentiles during that time of Great Tribulation to turn to Jesus. Surely Israel will respond to the Messiah now, won't they?

The Bible indicates there would be two re-gatherings of Israel (the first was in Jeremiah 29:10 after a 70 year captivity). The second, would be from every nation where they had been dispersed ( Jeremiah 30:3; Jeremiah 16:14,15, Jeremiah 23:3,7,8; Jeremiah 29:14). For the last 120 years or so, more than 3.5 million Jews have returned back to their God-given land, from all points of the globe, fulfilling God's Promises ( Isaiah 43:5-7). See Page 2.

    BROTHERS AND SISTERS:

Coming to TRUTH of Christ's prophecies requires you put ALL teaching of Christ TOGETHER.

Amos 3:8 Surly the Lord God will do NOTHING, but he revealeth his secrets to his servants the prophets.

ALL MANKIND (sinful flesh) died on the cross of Christ, you can't understand Christ's prophecies until you add that FACT into the MIX.

Ezekiel 24:18 So I (CHRIST) spake to the people in the morning: and at even MY WIFE DIED (his bride, his church); and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

Isaiah 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, TOGETHER with my dead body shall they arise.

All flesh DIED, all rose a NEW CREATION.

    Jesus IS THE RESURRECTION.

Jeremiah 16:4 They shall DIE of grievous deaths, they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried, but they shall be a dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword (the WORD), and by famine; and their carcasses shall be meat for the fowls of heaven (the eagles), and for the beast of the earth.

Jeremiah 16:6 Both the great and the small shall die in the land: they shall not be buried .....

Before you were ever born you DIED, you were not buried until you are buried by baptism of the Holy Spirit into that death.

Even the OLD saints, already dead, had to share in Christ DEATH and RESURRECTION.

May God GIVE US eyes to SEE.

Ezekiel 44, Ezekiel 44:2-3, possibly the prophecy for Luke 19:28-48, Luke 21, notice Luke 21:37, Matthew 21, Mark 11, Notice Mark 11:16, Mark 12 Jesus still in the Temple Mark 13, notice Mark 13:1,3, as noted Jesus went & left, the same direction. John 10:23,

    Ezekiel 44:16,17, Revelation 7 note Revelation 7:14,15,

Ezekiel 47:1-10, healing living water, John 7:38, John 4:11,13,14, Matthew 9:35, Fishers, Ezekiel 47:9,10, Jeremiah 16:16, Matthew 4:19, Mark 1:17,

If you look at Ezekiel 1:1,2,3, they were already going into captivity as Prophesied by Isaiah 39:1-7, 2Kings 24:15, Jeremiah 52:31, before Daniel, Ezra & Nehemiah before the return & rebuilding, Ezekiel 48 - end; might have been the divine blueprint for the temple that was rebuilt before Jesus was born

    Matthew 1:17

Hi Homie. Jeremiah chapter 17 continues from the previous chapter, where we find God's accusation against Judah for their many sins (see Jeremiah 16:10-18). Then in chapter 17, we see the grievousness of Judah's sin which ultimately sent them into Babylonian captivity: so terrible & permanent were their sins, that it was like when an engraver uses his iron scribing tool to chip into the stone he is working with, or the use of a diamond-tipped point to do similar work - the result is an indelible deep inscription both before God & etched on Judah's hearts and a memorial upon the "horns" of their idolatrous altars & groves (Asherah).

In verse 3, the LORD speaks of the heritage of Judah, of their possessions & places they gave over by committing wilful sin; all these they will lose one day as Babylon takes it all as spoil. Jeremiah was the last prophet to warn Judah before Judah went into exile as punishment.

Are you referring to what Daniel references in Daniel 9:2, if so: Daniel is speaking about Jeremiah's promise & Prophecy given by GOD to Israel about their return from captivity. Jeremiah 29:10

    Jeremiah 12:15, Jeremiah 16:15, Jeremiah 24:5,6, Jeremiah 30,

Hopefully these are helpful in trying to answer your question. If you're searching something else, ask & hopefully we/I can help you

    Amen Brother Ronald.

    Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.

    Jeremiah 16:14.

Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith the LORD. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?

Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the LORD.

For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.

All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

    Amos 9:7-11.

The tabernacle of David didn't exist during Jesus ministry, It doesn't exist now but it will exist during the Millennium.

    Hi Kay.

    Thanks for your reply.

I've never heard a pre-trib view taught that there is 3 comings of Christ, I always understood that there is the 1st coming and the second coming to Earth.

The rapture is called the "harpazo" in the Greek. meaning "to snatch away" or "to seize," The Lord don't come to the earth, We go to him!

1 Thessalonians 4:17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the LORD IN THE AIR: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

His second coming he comes to the Earth with judgment.

In these 2nd coming verses there's no mention of the removal of saints.

Here's just a few of many.

    Zechariah 14:4.

    Revelation 19:11-16,

    Revelation 20:1-6.

    Matthew 25:31-32.

The 2nd coming he comes with his saints.

If he raptured in his 2nd coming when he comes and make war against the nations who's going to populate the Millennium?

    Here's parallel verses to

    Mathew 24:31.

    Isaiah 11:12.

    Jeremiah 23:7-8.

    Jeremiah 16:14-15.

    Ezekiel 34:12-13.

    Isaiah 45:4.

    Goodnight Kay and God bless.

scDavid thank you for speaking truthfully about our Lord.

Many people do not seek to have sound doctrine concerning Jesus, our Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit and their relationship within the Godhead. I've meet many believers who say things like, "I don't think doctrine really matters as long as we have Jesus as our Savior." And in my heart I think, "Which "Jesus" are you believing in?" But most of these people do not really want to discuss matters of doctrine or examine their beliefs against the whole of Scripture. I am one who sincerely desires to know God truthfully. So, I study doctrinal matters along with what the Scriptures say.

The joy of the Lord is my strength. The acceptance of the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ must be determined by each individual through what the Lord has given as evidence for such.

Many will not believe for many reasons that may seem good to them. The problem with not accepting the truth regarding the Lord Jesus Christ is like committing suicide...you can only do it once. After that the judgement.

The great thing about the Lord God is His patience and long suffering. However, there will come a time that He will not be available for the lost to find Him.

God bless all on this forum. February 24, 2022

    Hi Gigi.

I believe the Lord hardened Pharoahs heart bringing out what was in him. In Acts 7:18. Stephen states "Till ANOTHER king arose, which knew not Joseph." I've heard the word another being used here suggests a different type in the Greek. There is 2 words used for "another" in the Greek. One is when you want another of the same and the other is one of a different kind. the second is used here. This Pharoah might have been an Assyrian.

Isaiah 52:4. For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the ASSYRIAN oppressed them without cause.

God Magnified his Great name YHWH in Egypt and all the World feard the God of Israel as he will do again in the latter days.

Ezekiel 38:22-23. And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.

    Jeremiah 16:13-15.

    Jeremiah 23:6-8.

    Thank you and

    Hi M.

Providing we're able to convince one there is a God by his creation,

    Psalms 19:1.

    Romans 1:19-20.

Perhaps here's a few of many verses that shows the God of the Bible is that God.

Genesis 13:14-15. And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed (FOR EVER.)

As we know they went into captivity, And Ezekiel wrote from Babylon when the was desolate. They later returned and the land was left desolate again for over 1900 years.

May14, 1948. We see the "start" of

    Ezekiel 37:1-27.

    Ezekiel 20:42.

    Jeremiah 30:2-3.

    Jeremiah 31:17.

    Isaiah 43:5-6.

    Micah 4:6-7.

    Amos 9:14-15.

Ezekiel 36:23. AND I WILL SANCTIFY MY GREAT NAME, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I SHALL BE SANCTIFIED IN YOU BEFORE THEIR EYES.

    Jeremiah 16:14-15. Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.

Jeremiah 23:6-8. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

    Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

When you say spiritually deliver "us" are you an Israelite Dianne? If not there is no salvation for you only judgment. Salvation is only for the Israelites.

    Acts 5:30

"The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree."

    Acts 5:31

"Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins."

    Luke 1:68

"Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,"

    Luke 1:69

"And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;"

    Luke 1:70

"As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:"

    Luke 1:71

"That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;"

    Luke 1:77

"To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,"

    John 8:32

Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

I think you'll find that you've inherited lies Dianne.

    Jeremiah 16:19

"O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit."

That's very true, Jerome. Whenever you see the name of God or LORD & when read in Hebrew as Yahweh, we know that it speaks of the True & Living God of Israel. Sometimes, God or Lord can be used in the Bible in other forms & with other meanings, but Yahweh, or Jehovah, will always refer to the One True God & noone else.

Here are three examples: Isaiah 42:8; Jeremiah 16:21 and 33:2.

What do you mean you disagree - it says clearly black on white!!

You say you are baffled with Judaism didn't believe Christ was the sent one. I am not baffled at all - it is crystal clear. Jesus fulfilled none of the requirements of messiah - where is world peace, where is knowledge of G-d in the whole world, where are the returned 10 tribes, where is the 3rd temple? Supposedly performing a few miracles is no criteria of messiah at all. He also transgressed many laws and went against the sages of the time. The list goes on and on.

And the Jesus and the letter "J" is only 400 years old. As the saying is true Satan deceiveth the whole world.

And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

    Malachi 3:16

Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.

Jeremiah 16:19 King James Version (KJV)

Verse 19 - There you have it in simple, clear language. All the religions of the world will at the end of days come to the Jewish people and admit that their religions were false and that Judaism is the only truth. This is the clear meaning and cannot be denied by anyone reading this without an agenda

Dear Irene123 - clearly v23 has not yet come about. Look at verse 19 - it says that the 4 fast days shall turn into days of joy. The Jewish people are still keeping these days as days of mourning as they have for the last 2000 years. So just as v19 has not yet come about, so too v23 has not yet happened. This is clear and unrefutable. See also Jeremiah 16:19

While the revised King James uses " LORD" several Bibles used the Holy name JEHOVAH. This has lead to research to show that many times where LORD is, the name JEHOVAH/YAHWEH should appear. The Bible says there are many gods and many lords( 1 cor. 8:5), but when we distinguish OUR God by his name, then he will become real to us and we can have a relationship with him. No name.....no relationship.

Jeremiah 16 speaks of the consequences of willful sin, which happens when our hearts depart from the Lord and we serve the Gods of this world - the flesh, materialism and godlessness, All the while we may deceive ourselves by having a name that we are alive christians but we long died spritually. Such hypocrisy and departure from the Lord , God will judge. When we sin willfully after having come to the knowledge of truth, there is no more sacrifice for sin but JUDGEMENT. God however gives hope if we repent and serve him truly that he will forgive and restore us back to our rightful place in the kingdom of God, much like the prodigal son who was received back after wasting his life in wanton living.

Jeremiah is a type of Jew during the Tribulation period. This chapter is reflective of God bringing the children of Israel back before the Tribulation. It is happening now, they call it Alaya. V14-16 is them being brought back by God to go through the worst trial that Israel ever faced. V15 God sends His fishers witnesses out for those who will hear Rev.7:4. Those that won 't come, the hunters will hunt down like the Nazi 's did. Jeremiah is given prophesies concerning AD 70,the Holocaust 1940 's and the same will repeat itself during the Tribulation period. Jacob 's trouble.
  • Andrew on Jeremiah 16:15 - 10 years ago
This verse is still future. Now, pastors, stop fooling the sheep that today 's Israel is God 's fulfillment--- it is no fulfillment of God 's promise here, it is man-made, counterfeit of God 's promise to bring them back. It will be no surprise, if they also will have a counterfeit of Jesus Christ 's return.
