There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. I noticed his kids and wife are not like Job. Job's Character shows he loves God above his family and earthly possessions.

This particular verse is just one of the many quoted but misunderstood verses that's often used to justify misdeeds. Throughout the bible's pages, many men were deemed righteous such as Job 1:6. In the New Testament we have in the book of Luke 1:5-6 Zachariah and Elizabeth were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

This has always disturbed me. What is the reason to make a man suffer so much, and kill so many? What does God gain from this, besides proving a point to Satan? I understand God gives Job more than what he had back, but I don't think it's worth the suffering. I would rather live in a nice house and be happy than live in a nicer house with PTSD and depression because everyone/thing I loved is gone.

    James Bible
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock

In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

This is what a strong house looks like.

Why did Job choose to marry this woman, he had a lot of integrity.

    Job chapter 1 verse 21.

This is such a wonderful verse which clearly demonstrates the temporal state of this world, but the eternal state of our own souls and indeed the urgent need of our individual requirement to be saved before it is too late. What a wonderful demonstration of Jobs faith in God and even in despair he Blesses The LORD.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places

@Lucy. satan has had access to Heaven (see Job 1:6-7) and he has access now, accusing us before God day and night (see Rev. 12:10). But during the tribulation, he and his kind are kicked out of Heaven and sent to earth (see Rev 12:9). The tribulation will not only have the wrath of God, but also the wrath of the devil ( Rev 12:12).

Job is wise. Wisdom is security.
  • BSP on Job 1 - 6 years ago
Verse 6~We see here that after Satan rebelled he was so arrogant that he still had the audacity to enter a meeting in heaven between Jehovah God and his faithful angels.
  • BSP on Job 1 - 6 years ago
Verse 8~Even though Job had great wealth, he did not let his prosperity go to his head. He had a fear of Jehovah God and he was a righteous man.

Thea, Yes, it did say Asia, however, it's not the Asia that we know today. Asia in the days of ancient scripture was from Turkey (Asia minor) to the top of Mesopotamia and what we call the Baltic region today. It was not Modern Asia, so you will know the truth.

Gabrielle S. Simmons Job had a total of 20 children. Job 1:2 Born until him were seven sons
and three daughters. These 10 were killed Job 1:18,19. So the LORD blessed the latter end
of Job more than his beginning. The LORD doubled his sheep, camels, oxen and asses.
Job 42:12. He (Job) also had seven sons and three daughters. Job 42:13

  • Eric on Job 1 - 6 years ago
How many times has God said, "have you considered my servant Eric"?

Then I fail God by sinning with my lips and more?

Thank God for Jesus who saves me from myself!
  • Thea Rene on Job 1 - 6 years ago
I test all bibles by Job 1:1 which was changed after WWII to read that Job came from Uz. My grandmother's bible states that he came from Asia! Imagine that!
  • Ann on Genesis 6 - 7 years ago
The sons of God were the fallen angels who fell from heaven, which took the form of human-like creatures, and married the daughters of men, and the giants (the Nephilim) were the result of this sinful act. Genesis 6:4-8. The male angels (sons of God) Job 38:7 - Job 1:6.

Ezekiel 14:14 "Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD." Job was a real man and endured all these things faithfully staying true and right in his heart toward God and men. There are some extremely rare Saints who are really "men after God's own heart" and are better than any others on earth.

Ren; if you read 1 Samuel 28, particularly verse 13, you might better understand what happens when we die. Compare with Ecclesiastes 3:21 "Who knows the spirit of man that goes upward, and the spirit of the beast that goes downward to the earth?" and, Ecclesiastes 12:7 "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." See also Ezekiel 32.
  • A disciple on Job 1 - 7 years ago
Ren; God doesn't "reveal" things to us that are unscriptural and simply false! The story of the rich man and Lazarus is true; not a parable. Besides, Jesus spoke about hell and the Gehenna more than 20 times; and that at the Day of Judgment, Hell would be cast into the Lake of Fire. The rich man died and was buried, and the next moment he lifted up his eyes "IN HELL" and saw Lazarus in heaven!
