The topic of dinosaurs in the Bible is part of a larger ongoing debate within the Christian community over the age of the earth, the proper interpretation of Genesis, and how to interpret the physical evidence we find all around us. It is most commonly translated "dragon" in the KJV. The tanniyn appears to have been some sort of giant reptile. These creatures are mentioned nearly thirty times in the Old Testament (e.g., Psalm 74:13; Isaiah 27:1; Jeremiah 51:34) and were found both on land and in the water. Another Hebrew word, livyathan, transliterated leviathan, is used six times in Scripture (e.g., Job 41:1; Psalm 104:26) and refers to some type of large, fierce sea creature. The description of leviathan in Job 41 gives the impression of a strong yet graceful, unstoppable creature against which weapons are unavailing: "Nothing on earth is its equal" ( Job 41:33).

Revelation is the revealing of Jesus Christ, not something in the future, Revelation is the mystery of entering the Kingdom of God, it's relevant to every person who studies, it has the same meaning to the person studying 1900 years ago as anyone studying today. The Beast then is the same Beast today and will be the same Beast 2000 years from now. The answers are through God's word, most in the law and prophets, it's not a free ride you have to study God's word and ask the holy Spirit to give you wisdom and understanding, and to repent of the teaching of man.

The story of Paul at the stoning of Stephen the evangelist, so changed my life as a new Christian (1985). I read through Paul's story like a big sponge.

When I think of Stephen being stoned and Jesus riding to his feet__I can't even describe the feelings of victory.

Jesus confronted Paul on the road to Damascus to kill more Christians. Glory to God!

There would be more Evangelists on Earth Now, if we would heed the CALL in how Paul responded.

Leviathan is a sea dragon..God broke its heads and fed it to the ppl.

(There are more then 1 leviathan though.. more remain in depths of sea..I personally believe they kept Satan from trying to escape his prison, earth.. but they could be there for other reason.. either way they are there to protect something or prevent, stop something that could occur if they weren't present)

Dinosaurs existed before the flood and to a lesser extent after the flood. The record found in fossils indicates that the present planetary ecosystem is incapable of producing and supporting large bodied reptiles and mammals.

Apparently, before Noah's flood destroyed the antediluvian ecosystem, the earth could produce large bodied long living reptiles that we call dinosaurs (a word which means a fearful or monstrous lizard). The word of God states that not only did all humans, except eight, were destroyed by the flood, but also the earth itself was wrecked ( Genesis 6:13).

The first possible mention of dinosaurs in the Bible is in Job 40. God, speaking directly to the patriarch Job, challenges him regarding a mysterious beast known as the Behemoth.Now behold the behemoth, which I made along with you; he eats grass like an ox; See, now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the muscles of his belly.He moves his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. The second possible reference to huge, now extinct dinosaurs is in Job 41. God, again speaking directly to Job, challenges him regarding his ability to catch or tame a creature referred to as Leviathan.Can you draw out the leviathan with a hook, or hold down his tongue with a cord? Can you put a ring into his nose, or pierce his jaw with a gaff hook? . . .Will you play with him as with a bird? Or will you bind him for your maidens? . . . ( Job 41:1 - 2, 5, also see the rest of the chapter).

The third possible reference to these large reptiles is in Genesis 1:21 where it states that God created "great sea creatures." Many Scriptural scholars feel that these references are talking about the hippopotamus, crocodile, whale or other large known animal. Other scholars of a more scientific mind suggest that these verses are actually referencing dinosaurs.

Scripture does say that Satan is the God of this world, however, Scripture also says that all other gods are false because God alone is the only true God. Therefore, Satan does not own the earth nor have dominion over it. The earth belongs to God alone ( Job 41:11; Ps. 50:10-12)

God is ever sovereign over all creation. As the Sovereign Lord, He is the ultimate authority of all He has created, even Satan. God rules creation by His absolute power and wisdom. No other being can overrule Him nor out smart Him. Satan is allowed to be at work in the world for the times that God determined and for the eternal purposes of God.

God's sovereignty allows us to have comfort and assurance in Him as Lord And King overall beings and things He has made.

We know that evil will not triumph over God. We know that God's plans for those who love Him will be fulfilled in the best way.

God is the ruler of history,directing it to His intended outcome. Nothing happens that surprises God or catches Him off guard.

We should be so thankful and relieved knowing that God is in control of this world and the lives of all beings, including Satan. He is present In All of creation and in every situation to work out what is best according to His eternal perfect plan and redemptive purpose for creating all things. We can trust Him to be faithful to all of His promises. When God takes us to be His people He does all needed for our salvation. He fights our battles, blesses us, disciplines us, loves us, and stays with us.

God's sovereign Lordship is deeply personal. It involves each and every creature and God is great enough to rule every and all wisely , lovingly, justly, benevolently, righteously, and immutably. We can trust Him wholly. We can rest in Him. We can cast ourselves upon His mercies. All of our worries and cares can be released to Him because He reigns supreme nigh and day, 24/7 everyday as long as we are in this life and for all eternity we will be safe and secure in Him.

Some of what is written is for how we live with and treat others, so it is not all for spiritual growth. There is a lot to guide us in the material world as well as the spiritual.

As we read scripture, we must remember WHY the Word was written and preserved for all generations. Ask yourself how each scripture affects your growth. Physical details are not as important as spiritual development in ourselves; especially true when understanding a spiritual book. Everything written in the Bible is for our SPIRITUAL growth. Don't get hung up on scientific details. Remember 1 Cor. 13:12 and you will be alright. Strive to overcome.

My brother Chris, thank you the astute observations. There is a difference between the fall of the adversary and the final casting out of heaven. The fall, which occurred following Genesis 1:1 and the aftermath of God's judgment, which is found in Genesis 1:2; included the following consequences. Although still allowed access to heaven, the adversary was stripped of all authority and glory; he had been the adorned, anointed cherub that covereth. However, the beauty of his form was transformed into that of a serpent and a dragon; also, he was demoted to the lowly position of tempter ( Gen. 3:1; Matt. 4:3). All movement was restricted by God's "hook in his hose" ( Job 41:2); and any use of power required permission because God put a "double bridle" on him ( Job 41:13-14). Also, he had to regularly report with the regular angels ( Job 1:6; 2:1). This leads to the reason why he was not immediately destroyed.

Christ opened the spiritual matrix and became the firstfruits and prototype of all who inherit the kingdom of heaven. Similarly, God positioned the adversary as the one who opened the matrix, and created hell for him and the angels which are suggested in the plural pronoun "they" in mentioned in Ezekiel 28:16 and are mentioned in Jude 6 ( Matt. 25:41).

The eternal fate of all humankind is either heaven or hell. Water represents people ( Rev. 17:15). Therefore, for the duration of man's chronological week upon the earth following the fall of Adam and Eve, God is using Christ to draw up the Jordan River, which represents those who will inherit the kingdom, into His mouth ( Job 40:23). Conversely, he uses the adversary as the serpent who eats dust ( Gen. 3:14; 1 Pet. 5:8), from which man is made ( Gen. 2:7), and carry them along with him into hell.

These conditions surrounding the fall of the adversary were effective throughout the Old Testament. However, the final casting did not occur until the days of John the Baptist ( Matt. 11:12). See the following post.

I heard in my ear last night, mama soft and then a strum of a guitar. I shot to in my bed thinking about my daughter which was spending the night with friend. I remember praying for eyes to see and ears to hear, and a voice for him. Having also woke up with my right ear popping last night, big pop. I don't know if the ear had anything to do with it, but it was a loud one. We also had a storm here last night. When I had awoken with voice and guitar it was heavy winds blowing and light rain. Addiction

i like how people stay optimistic, i found this chapter one day when i was in jail, the first thing that came to mind was addiction... why not say it straight forward, when i read peoples comments it confuses me, remain faithful even if it means death, its an old book, alot of the scholars that write footnotes are Theologists, jesus said put your finger in my side see that it is me...

I enjoy reading the story of Job, it shows how loving, patient and kind our God is. Even today He allows us to go through trials some by our own choosing but like Job He allows us test through trials to help us to trust Him. These test our alligiance to whom do we serve. Inspite of what we see or do or ho throughGod loves us and that will never change because His mercy is everlasting.

Ed’ s Q re Job.......if you study Satan’s conversation with God re Job, you’ll see that GOD uses the word “behold “ twice with Satan.when God created the universe, HE buried many principles in it...ie gravity, DNA,physics, Math,..etc, many based on cause/effect....if you seek, you shall find,if you ask, it will be given,... and God binds HIMSELF to these principles in dealing with us.

God does not have to prove how strong or mighty he is and he did not give in to the Devil by punishing Job, the Devil did this to Job. Job proved the Devil wrong, this was the purpose of the trial, and Job proved to be faithful while proving the Devil to be wrong. God did not punish Job because the Devil taunted him, God was aware of Job's faith and Job proved God to be right and the Devil wrong.

God was trying to prove the Devil to be wrong. If God have shown his mercy and power at that time, it would have proved nothing, but have proved the Devil to be right. Lot did not give up and kept his integrity through all the suffering.This was the only way to go about it by holding unto his faith and proving the Devil to be wrong. If you do not know what goes on, keep your ignorance to yourself.

Another chapter where God just sounds like a blowhard saying how powerful He is. But for all His bluster, where is the compassion or fairness? Job was obedient and God punishes him JUST because the devil taunts God. If the devil can so easily manipulate God into punishing someone who doesn't deserve it, then maybe God isn't as strong as He would have you believe.
