Hello James. Sorry to read of your poor health & the confusions & contradictions that are overwhelming you. I would hold onto the Lord Jesus' Words: to 'come to Him if you're over-laden with the cares, concerns & burdens of this life - He promises His rest to all who come.' ( Matthew 11:28). Even in ill-health & hopelessness, Jesus' Peace can over-rule our hearts & minds & give us a certainty of His involvement in our lives & a future where heart-ache & pain will be no more. ( John 14:27; John 16:33; Philippians 4:6,7; Revelation 21:3,4).
And that is wonderful, that you are persisting in reading God's Word, for therein are the words of Truth & Life. The Promises of God are "yea & in Him Amen" (i.e. they are certain & will not fail); I pray that you will really come to the point of placing your complete trust & hope in Jesus, for He truly is the Answer, the only Answer, to all of our sins, sorrows, hopes & dreams.
To your questions:
a. I think you're quoting Revelation 22:4, "And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads." I picked this verse, as the verses that give the mark of the beast don't apply to the believer in Christ, for if he were present at that time & faithful to the Lord & not to Satan, he would refuse that mark and bear the consequences. In Revelation 22:4, I can't be sure whether there is a physical imprint of Jesus' Name there, or this verse speaks metaphorically. Just as how the mark of the Anti-Christ will be made to appear on all those who wish to follow him & continue to live & not die under his rule.
Acts 2:38 - some silently add a "Do NOT..." in front of this verse. Could satan be involved in this? He sure likes deceiving Christians into doing the opposite of what Jesus tells them.
John 14:15 - Jesus said if you love me keep my commandments. Does someone who doesn't obey Jesus truly love Jesus then?
The Apostle Paul is writing to the believers that they also had put their trust in Jesus after they had heard & believed the Gospel. They were sealed by the Holy Spirit - the Spirit is given to all who love & trust Jesus for their salvation & their lives. The Holy Spirit, by His residence in the believer, ministers to our hearts in every way. Some of the ways are: teaching ( John 16:12-15); Guiding ( Romans 8:14); Assuring ( Romans 8:16); Praying ( Romans 8:26, Ephesians 6:18); Comforting/Helping ( John 14:26).
But the foremost Work of the Spirit in the believer is to "seal" him, or 'set a mark' that we belong to Christ. And that is why Paul states in Romans 8:35-39 that nothing, absolutely nothing, can ever separate us "from the Love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord". And here in Ephesians, Paul is stating that our sealing (or, eternal security) by the Holy Spirit is our "earnest", or God's guarantee/pledge until our redemption. Some might say, 'I thought we were already redeemed when we believed & bought by Christ's precious Blood?' Yes, we were fully redeemed spiritually, i.e. inwardly, when we were born again, given a new Spirit, which is of God. But our flesh (body), still tainted with sin & prone to failure before God waits for, rather longs for the day when our redemption is made complete ( Romans 8:23). So Paul says in Ephesians, that our redemption will be made complete when we are taken from this Earth, given new bodies, outfitted for Heaven. And all praise & glory goes to the Lord Who has done all this for us.
The number of questions I have raised should not be taken as being troubled by any question the Bible may throw up . But rather they were put to provoke thought not needlessly stir up dust or in anyway undermine peoples faith in the Bible .
But rather to show that many long held thinking and concepts do not hold up in the light of scripture .
Sound doctrine always does .
But you know the seed that fell by the way side in the parable of the sower?
I think that is a well trodden path of our own thinking or passed down and accepted without scrutiny .
So well an habitual way of thinking that no seed can last and the fowls of the fair simply take it away and produces no fruit .
Nothing wrong with the seed " but by our traditions we make the Word of God of none effect "
The world is going crazy and millions are chained to the chariot of the devil and are on their way to hell.
I fear the church is too busy ' celebrating' to notice .
When in truth such good news should be bursting at the seems of the church .
Just as all the angels of heaven being a very disciplined lot held their peace while the message was given but once given heaven could no longer restrain itself and burst its banks in giving glory to God for having fulfilled His promise to mankind in the garden of Eden .
But I see no where in the scriptures that we continue to be so after we are truly born again .
For are we not now IN Christ and Christ IN us? If we are His?
Are we not now made acceptable in Him ? Ephesians .
Did not the prodigal son given a change if raiment, new shoes and a ring on his finger?
Are we not commanded to " put off the old man " filthy and vile .and "put on Christ"?
Indeed are we not crucified WITH Christ ? The old man " Buried with Christ"?
The living are not buried only the dead .
Jesus DIED and was buried .and all that was laid on Him with him .
"For He who knew no sin became sin ."
Not only must and should believe in his death and resurrection but we need to understand that we in and through Him died with Him .That filthy and vile sinner you speak of that " body of this death " by our faith in Him died also and was buried .
Indeed by the scriptures it was while we were DEAD in our sins ,Christ died and raised us up together WITH Him .
Ephesians .
Into newness of LIFE not only raised us up together WITH Him but also made us sit together with Him in heavenly places" Ephesians.
How then should we consider ourselves filthy and vile?
How can we call unclean what God has called clean?
How are we so vile on the inside if we are clothed with Christ? Impossible .
For that would make us at best hypocrites far worse it would make God false who is only satisfied with the outward appearance.
But if any man be IN Christ they are a new creation ,behold old things have passed away and behold ALL things have become new "
God does a complete job or a perfect job .Are we saying then we are now sinless and perfect ? No.
For this body is still subject to sin and death and corrupt . But what says the scriptures? "Let not sin REIGN in your mortal body "
Why? Because if sin reigns you will obey .
Christ must reign and if He does you will obey Him
a. His Names: Hebrews 1:8, John 20:28 (God); Matthew 16:16, Matthew 26:61-65 (the Son of God); Matthew 22:41-46 (Lord); Revelation 19:13 (Word of God); Revelation 19:16 (King of kings and Lord of lords).
b. His Characteristics: Matthew 28:18 (Omnipotence: all powerful); Luke 6:8, John 2:24,25, John 13:11 (Omniscience: all knowing); Matthew 18:20 (Omnipresence: present in any place); John 1:4 (Life); John 14:6 (Truth); Hebrews 13:8 (Immutability: unchanging); 1 Timothy 3:16, John 1:1-14 (God manifest in the flesh in Jesus).
c. His Works: John 1:3, Colossians 1:16 (creates); Colossians 1:17 (sustains); Luke 7:48,49 (forgives sin); John 11:41-44 (raises the dead); John 5:27 (judges); John 15:26 (sends the Holy Spirit).
d. His receiving Worship: Hebrews 1:6 (from angels); Revelation 5:11-13 (from other heavenly beings); Matthew 14:33 (from men); Philippians 2:10 (from all).
e. His equality within the Triune God: John 14:23, John 10:30-33 (with the Father); Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14 (with the Father and the Spirit).
I hope you can see from these few Scriptures that Jesus was not just a special Man or Prophet sent by God, but truly was "God manifested in the flesh". No other man before Jesus' coming, during, or after His leaving this Earth, could ever fully reflect God's Glory, Wisdom & Power. Only God could - and He did this by sending us His Word, made Him a Man, so that He could give His Life as full payment for our sins - but only to those who believe this & place their trust in Him. To some, the 'Trinity' teaching is abominable. But man's salvation depends on the Divine Person of the Lord Jesus Christ - that God could accept no other Sacrifice to redeem & secure people to Himself - only by giving fully of Himself, which is true love for all.
You cannot approach God in your natural birth! You are still in Adam and all ethnic groups have to come to God by the blood of the cross. John 14:6.
Salvation didn't come by genealogy religion or ethnic group Salvation didn't come by anything Adam had to offer. Salvation came by the seed of the woman that's Christ.
There's your new birth.
If you belong to any ethnic group, religion, church or political party, without Christ you will be told I never knew you.
Matthew 7:21-23.
Abraham was asked to leave his father's pagan land and was promise a land flowing with milk and honey. In Hebrews it says this is the new Jerusalem. Hebrews 11:8-10.
God said he will make a nation out of Abraham. (There is no value in the pagan land in which he came and there was no value in him when he came) He had to come to God by instrument of faith to receive grace, "as do we".
We are the seed of Abraham and sons of God through faith.
Salvation didn't come by the nation of Israel. The nation of Israel demonstrated there is no good thing in the flesh.
God will put his spirit in Israel and Israel as a nation will be saved as we. Acts 15:8-11.
There will be a new fold and One shepherd. John 10:16.
God bless and good night.
Father God please open an offering for the job on Monday at 1:00 interview with 2 Directors. I believe you are calling me to this mission field with children. To help, care, guide & share Your Love ABBA.
I thank You
Humble me Oh God. In Your Son Jesus
Amen I pray John 14:14 please cover me to keep in my rental condominium. I do appreciate your provisional support and promises. In Jesus Christ Holy name.
Here's part 2 of 2.
Jesus said in John 14:15 if you love me, you will keep my commandments. When we experience God's love, His Spirit causes us to love. Perfect love is brought to its completion by receiving Christ.
I concur with this brother because it was and still is a view I had before I heard it from him.
It's Agape! You can't produce it, it's a fruit of the Spirit, you only can bare it by being connected to the true vine. Or genuine vine. "Christ."
God bless and welcome to the site.
Sorry for such a long delay in responding I went right off to bed after my last reply.
A disciple of Christ is one who has truly believed on and trusted Christ and have been born of God's spirit. This is not professing to be born again and trying to live a righteous life or by serving or by going to church or by ministering. It's confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart that initiates God's spirit to take residence in you. You are baptized by the Holyspirit, meaning you are Identified with Christ. Christ righteous is imputed over on to you. You are then given a new heart with the ability to love and wants to obey him and serve him at your best. John 14:23-26.
You will also love the brethren. John 13:34-35. 1 John 4:21.
You can't redeem yourself! You are redeemed when you truly believe on the work Jesus did on the cross where he paid our ransom as mentioned.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Mark 10:45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Christianity isn't anything you "DO"
A Christian is what you "BECOME" by the working of the Holyspirit. And you become that by truly trusting in Christ not the works of our own hands. Christ becomes the Lord over your life and the head of the body of Christians you have been baptized into.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Philippians 2:13.
God bless.
We don't go to heaven by being good, nor in just believing in the existence of God. One would have to recognize his sinful and lost state and have faith in Gods plan of redemption.
God is Holy and there is nothing man can do to reconcile himself to God.
Romans 3:10-11 says "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
The wages of sin is death, we're all sinners and sin have to be paid for, so I don't like to say Christ done away with sin on the cross but rather "Christ paid the penalty for our sin on the cross". He was the sacrificial lamb, He died in our place. Jesus was sinless and when the Lord took upon our sin God the father didn't spare him.
There is no way to the father but through the son. John 14:6.
You asked "Is it right to put a good man into hell because he doesn't believe in God?
No one is good but God as shown here in Mark 10:18 "And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
God Holiness is above our comprehension.
Isaiah 55:6-9.
God bless.
The 10 Commandments therefore are still in force today; but we are unable to follow with the MORE stringent matters of the heart which only again comes from the Spirit. Without this there is an outward obedience only. The only thing which has changed is the Sabbath Day; and I would say that Matthew 12:8 answers this by placing Sunday as the day of rest. This is also the only command that was peculiar to the nation of Israel; rather than universal law which clearly as shown with John the Baptist in matters of divorce holding for pagans as well. Other ceremonial rules changed with Peter's vision in Acts 10.
Matthew 12:32 "...but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."
James 2:14-26 "...faith, if it hath not works, is dead..."
Luke 12:5
John 14:15
James 2:14-26
Romans 6:1-2
Hebrews 6:4-6
1 Timothy 4:1
2 Peter 2:20-22
Matthew 12:31-32
1 Corinthians 15:2-8
Hebrews 3:12
Romans 11
The Bible answers this question quite clearly. Some are trying to use human logic through cherrypicking and misinterpreting a couple verses instead of simply believing God's truth through the whole Bible. Satan wants people to assume they have an insurance policy and license to commit unlimited sin and do whatever they want.
Does the Bible even say you're instantly "saved" when you start to believe, or does it say that you can have hope of salvation and assurance of salvation if you are a genuine follower until the "end" on the day of judgment? Let's see if the Bible says "now" or in the "end"...
Matthew 24:13
"But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."
1 Peter 1:5
- "...salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
1 Peter 1:13
"...hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;"
Hebrews 10:36
"For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise."
It is imperative to maintain a balanced perspective of the Lord by scripture reading along with meditation and prayer. We should seek to obey the Lord because we love Him ( John 14:15). We need to pay attention to those associations we have; as many today have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. ( 2 Tim. 3:5). We are to AVOID all those who would claim to be Christians but living in a LIFESTYLE of continuing sin. This would include those teaching in ministry who are hobnobbing to benefit their popularity or financial stance with those who are promoting compromised or heretical doctrine at their conferences. There is a difference between those in the world who are lost and those who are putting Christ to shame. The house of God these days has become a place where there is often more concern for how visitors feel rather than a place instilling the fear of God and sound doctrines. The Lord will vomit out those who are lukewarm in the Laodicean style churches. We need to be careful not to be using empty praises while our lives are far from the Holiness He demands.
Also according to 1 John we must love our brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ. ( 1 John 3:15). I find no need to name names; but we must be honest when those "heroes of the faith" that have written certain doctrines that we adhere to have lived less than exemplary lives. This is why it is dangerous to obsess on any teacher of the Word; Christian author or musician. Pride leads to a fall and we all need to be humble before God.
In saying all this; it is important that in loving God with all our being (1st Commandment) certainly our emotions should be affected; but that is always secondary to the Holy Spirit's truth. The primary purpose of the Spirit is shown in John 16:8 (conviction of sin; righteousness and judgment to come). Our hearts need to produce good fruit as He lives in us. Only a true believer can love being chastised to conform us in Him
"Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?"
"he that hath seen me hath seen the Father"
Anyone that has seen Jesus has seen God the Father. Amen.
Rev 19:13 - Jesus is the Word of God. And John 1:1 says "the Word was God"
1 Timothy 3:16 "God was manifest in the flesh"
Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born... The mighty God..."
Amen.
Praise God the Bible says exactly who Jesus is for ears that want to hear, for eyes that want to see.
But the Roman Empire does not want that people achieve eternal life and salvation.hence they destroyed everything and everyone in Jerusalem including the temple and put the wrong people
You say you "can't" agree with his beliefs.
Have you been born again? Have you had an encounter with Jesus Christ that changed your life?
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
Paul and Silas's jailer asked them in ACTS 16:30 ..."Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" Their answer was as simple as this in ACTS 16:31 ..."Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved..." Simple as that.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.- Romans 10:9-13.
If you can say without a doubt you are a born-again believer--ask those questions. Attend church, pray, and read your Bible, for Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Remember, God should be more important to you than anything in the world for John 14:6 says,
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." In other words, without Jesus Christ, you will go to hell.
My prayers are for you!
Psalms 139, (remember the guy that wrote that, had to live in caves for a time, while fleeing unjust persecution,) Jesus himself had to encourage himself knowing while everyone else would abandon Him, GOD would not. John 16:32,33,
Mark 14:38, Mark 11:13-26, Luke 21:36, Hebrews 13:3,5,6,
Luke 18, John 14:16,
2Timothy 2:3, 2Timothy 4:5, Matthew 24:13, Romans 8:18,
Hopefully these help you
Matthew 27:35, Mark 15:24, John 13:4-16, John 19:23,
Hopefully these are helpful
Hebrews 10:19. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, (We can now come into his presence)
1 Corinthians 6:19. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (Because he abides in us.)
1 John 4:4. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is "HE" that is in you, than he that is in the world. (It is a "HE" that is in you that is stronger than he that is in the world.)
John 17:21-23. That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
I IN THEM, AND THOU IN ME, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, if a man loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, (AND MAKE OUR ABODE WITH HIM). "The Holyspirit is God's spirit in us!
Romans 8:11. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies BY HIS SPIRIT THAT DWELLETH IN YOU. (It is the father, the son, and the Holyspirit abiding in us according to these scriptures.) AND THESE THREE ARE ONE.
Ephesians 4:4-6. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling.
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, AND IN YOU ALL.
With so many scriptures like this given a would be confusing if there were no trinity.
The way you have explained it often is well represented by scripture.
God bless you.
1 Corinthians 3:16 states that we are the Temple of God now. Thus; as Colossians 2:9 states the "fullness of the Godhead bodily" showed how Christ was fully God and fully man; but also he had the "Spirit without measure". ( John 3:34). We as believers in the N.T. times since Christ's atonement go immediately to heaven after death (see Hebrews 9:27; 2 Cor. 5:8). We are "sealed with the Spirit" ( Eph. 1:13-14) from the moment we are saved (that is TRULY saved); hence the Spirit dwells in us (see John 14:23).
We can look at the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost) as the pneuma in some extent; or what is breathed into us from above much as the soul of man had life given to it when we are born the first time. God therefore rules over all and determines times and seasons; Christ is the 2nd member of the "Godhead" hence in accordance with God's plan became the sin offering for our redemption and thus was "given" all authority over heaven and earth ( Matthew 28:18-20).
When He humbled Himself a man; he trusted totally in the Spirit to do His miracles as an example for us to do the same. Clearly; there were certain things which are at least primarily limited to the Apostolic era. Nonetheless; we are told to "bear fruits worthy (meet) of repentance ( Matt. 3:8 and elsewhere). There are characteristics of a Spirit filled life; and also various gifts or manifestations given by God to every believer (see 1 Cor. 12). PRIMARILY; the Spirit of Christ brings forth to convict the world of "sin; righteousness and judgment to come." ( John 16:8-11). We know we are one of His children if we have a new heart ( Ezekiel 36:26); and of course if we trust God; obey Him and obey Him to the best of our ability. We desire God and the Spirit will convict us (he chastises all He loves). ( Heb. 12:6 etc).
I pray that you have a personal experience with the Lord
I'm confused about this scripture. We pray and hear from the Lord now. Does this mean we won't? Is the prince of the world referring to satan?
If God is causing you to want to study his word, the the KJV is the best.
The Spirit of Christ, through chosen men to write the words down, wrote the bible.
That same Spirit is actually the life IN YOU, you are just his body.
This life IN YOU will cause you to understand his words, just start reading, and each time you read more and more truth will be given to you, just talk to the life in you, he will answer, It's like talking to yourself, because he is you, and you are him.
1 John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received of him ABIDETH IN YOU, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
John 14:6 ....I AM TRUTH .....I AM LIFE ......
This is what ABIDES IN YOU, Christ himself, as the Holy Ghost, and truth will set you free.
