Thank you One Eighty. Referring to 'dualism', i.e. its spiritual aspects & not its other definitions seen in politics, ethics, law, etc. It is defined as "two equal & opposing realities - one of good, the other of evil". And this is clearly gnostic in nature, where the understanding is that 'the flesh can only be evil & the spirit only good - therefore the two can never be fused together'.
And this would be true if Jesus did not just take on pure human flesh, but took on sinful flesh - this is dualism. Remember, the flesh that God gave to Adam & Eve wasn't sinful - so not every instance of flesh equates to sin. The flesh that Jesus came in was not sinful (He came in the "LIKENESS of sinful flesh", i.e. as our flesh is composed of atoms, cells, blood, etc.), but Jesus would have become just like us (in our sinful flesh), if He succumbed to Satan. Satan attempted to replicate what he did to our first parents onto Jesus - Satan succeeded with them, but failed with the last Adam, the Son of God.
So, the incarnation of Jesus can never be dualism, as God did not enter sinful flesh (contrary to gnostic belief about flesh equating to sin), but came into pure flesh. How would we account for the Holy Spirit coming into & residing in a believer in Christ? Surely, that can't happen as we are sinners, albeit forgiven & cleansed. But the Word says this does happen ( John 14:17), showing that God sees us as clean vessels, in which His Spirit is pleased to dwell & interact with our renewed born again human spirit. The Holy Spirit cannot reside with an uncleansed, unrenewed human spirit. So we see a further departure from gnostic thought - that God can indeed come into sinful flesh, but only when the spirit within has been made new.
When we see the prophecy of Agabus in Acts 11; we see evidence of a Word given by an unknown saint to the church as to events soon to come. An individual word of knowledge came to Paul as to what would happen when he went to Jerusalem in Acts 21. These two examples show that most prophecy has unpleasant ramifications whether it if for a nation; individual or group of people. Comparison with today's prosperity gospel type of messages there is little or no scriptural precedence for "declared" blessings of financial success. The irony is that tends to eliminate the TRUE messages of God's promotion of certain individuals for unique ministries and great works for the Kingdom of God. When the successful saint is seen to have promotion; wealth and privileges in this world the verse about what is "highly exalted among men is an abomination to God" ( Luke 16:15).
Try telling Christ who had "no place to lay His head" ( Luke 9:58); or the disciples who said they had given up all things to follow Him ( Luke 18:28); or Christ telling others that it was harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven than a camel to go through the eye of a needle ( Matthew 19:23).
Another part of the problem is that people don't trust that God works good through all things for those who love God ( Romans 8:28). This could signify personal trials; or those affecting the nations of the world (war; famine; pestilence); and even the great multitude of the Tribulation are the fruit of the crucible God has placed to test all those who dwell on the earth ( Rev. 3:10).
I believe that any TRULY Born Again individual can do great things; and has time perhaps to do even greater things than Jesus in some sense ( John 14:12-14). This could only refer to the same Holy Spirit working quantitatively in a lifetime more than Jesus had time to do in 3.5 years of ministry, and primarily sign and wonder miracles were meant for the Apostles.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
Who is the Word?
John 1:14-15 says the Word is Jesus. Does anyone deny that the Word is Jesus?
If someone believes John 1:14, then do they believe John 1:1
"...the Word was God."
"...[Jesus] was God."
JESUS.
WAS.
GOD.
John 1:1
This is God's Word.
Some here are saying "Jesus was NOT God" despite John 1:1 clearly saying Jesus WAS God. I'd like to know exactly how someone can believe in all other verses of the Bible except this one? If something WAS something, that seems to offer little room for interpretation. It means it's the same, does it not? So, if something WAS something, how does someone twist this into believing it says something WAS NOT something?
It then must be asked: since it takes so much effort to take a sentence something WAS something to turn it into: something WAS NOT something, what is the true underlying motive here? Does God's Word carry the most weight and influence or does something else?
This is eerily similar to Gen 3:4 where satan denied what God said and claimed that they shall NOT surely die. Satan loves opposites and this seems to have his signature, does it not?
I welcome any perspective I'm missing, but do not consider anything other Bible verses as valid evidence. God's Word is all that matters and because there's already numerous verses supporting that Jesus is God like John 1:1 then that is what is true. Lastly, why not just pray and ask God directly to know the truth? Genuinely ask!

This is an interesting logical argument. I find that in 1 Peter 3:22. Let's assume for argument's sake that your conclusion is correct and you get 1 point for this.
But for every verse you cite, there are even more that say that Jesus IS God, like John 1:1 saying the "Word was God" and verse 14 that Jesus is the Word.
This could continue to play out and you can cite any number of verses to support your position, but again we don't run out of very compelling verses saying that Jesus is God.
Let's say that it's a dead even race. 30 verses suggesting Jesus isn't vs 30 verses suggesting He is.
Then what? Which do you choose to believe?
I don't know if you've gone through this exercise or not, but I now have a spoiler: someone will run out of verses supporting that Jesus "isn't" God long before the verses supporting He IS God. Not only that, but each of the verses commonly cited to claim that Jesus "isn't" God require some extra creative interpretation and human logic whereas the verses supporting the other side can be read and interpreted more literally. Not only that, but there's logical explanations for why Jesus called His Father God. The main reason is that He temporarily became a human being and limited His power. Phil 2:6-7. So, yes, as a man, He prayed to His Father and called Him God. So, all verses must be considered as a whole, not cherry picked in order to have understanding about the Godhead and I admit it is hard to comprehend as we don't have anything like it in on earth. But perhaps like an orange with seeds, pulp, skin. Someone calls pulp an orange, and it is.

A Christian since 1968, very encouraging! Especially that you're reading throughout the Bible again into study! I hope you'll keep us in your study as you go. Many of us enjoy deep study & thought in the WORD of GOD.
There seems to be several scriptures to verify your thought, of multiple people: Genesis 1:27, let them have dominion over ._... fish, of the sea, fowl of the air, over every living thing, that moveth upon the earth.
Genesis 4:1,2,8,13,14, Notice Genesis 4:13-17, Genesis 4:25,
also notice by now to continue for some people to try to say "only Adam & Eve" would be to ignore all the facts of other people listed.
Genesis 4:19,23,24,
Genesis 5:1-2, interestingly they both male & female named "Adam"
If you look in the Concordance by clicking on Genesis 1:27, man = mankind, human spelled English translated = the Hebrew name Adam sounds (aw-dawm)
Please also notice Genesis 6:5,7,12,17, why would GOD destroy the whole earth if only Adam & Eve, 1 lineage which is listed in the records of Genesis were only on Earth?
Genesis 5:3, Genesis 2:7,8,15,22, Romans 5:14, 1Corinthians 15:45, 1Chronicles 1:1, Luke 3:21-38,
Sometimes we have to ask questions
1st does an interpretation represent GOD's Laws, standards, examples? Leviticus 20:17, 1Corinthians 10:13, James 1:13-15, Proverbs 11:1,
2nd What is the main points GOD is pointing us to? Romans 5:17-21,
3rd, does it feel right, truthful, honest in our spirit? John 14:26,27, James 1:5, 1John 2:27-29,
I believe the reason anyone has questioned outside what is written, is because false teaching: Note: 1John 2:26-29, 2Peter 2:1, 2Timothy 3:1-5,
1John 4:1, 1Timothy 6:3-6,
Hopefully these are all helpful in your study
There appears to be multiple men with that name: Luke 6:16, Acts 15:27,32, John 14:22, Matthew 13:55, Acts 9:11, Acts 15:22, Acts 1:13,
A guy also from Galilee = Acts 5:37,
Matthew 27:5, Matthew 27:4-10,
It's best to study, keep reading, keep studying
"And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb." Revelation 21:14 KJV
"And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both (1) Peter, and (2) James, and (3) John, and (4) Andrew, (5) Philip, and (6) Thomas, (7) Bartholomew, and (8) Matthew, (9) James the son of Alphaeus, and (10) Simon Zelotes, and (11) Judas the brother of James." Acts 1:13 KJV
The reason I ask this very important question is to prove what truly the Bible said not what men or any religious sect says so. It is also important who is speaking and who has the ultimate authority in the Bible-Jesus Christ- John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Please understand the order of the Book of Acts.
Strong Facts:
"But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:" Acts 9:15 KJV
(12) "Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)" Galatians 1:1 KJV
"Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity." 1 Timothy 2:7 KJV
"Let his days be few; and let another take his office." Psalms 109:8 KJV
Romans 11:13
For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
In my own opinion, I found that all other evidence verses are very weak indeed to call Mathias as the chosen apostle.
Weak Facts:
"And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen," Acts 1:24 KJV
"And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles." Acts 1:26 KJV
Romans 8, Hebrews 4:12,

1John 4:1-11, 1John 4,

Scripture tells us the unclean spirits/devils knew He was the Son of God, Matt. 8:29 Mark 3:11 Luke 8:27-28. Scripture tells us Jesus is the Son of God the only begotten of the Father, John 1:14. Scripture tells us Jesus the Son of God was before this world John 17:5 2 Timothy 1:9. Scripture tells us Jesus the Son of God was the beginning of creation Rev. 3:1. Scripture tells us everything was created through Him Col. 1:16.
Scripture tells us to confess Jesus is the Son of God, 1 John 4:15. Scripture tells us God gave His only begotten Son, John 3:16. Scripture tells us to believe God gave His only begotten Son, 1 John 5:10. Scripture tells us God was made known in the flesh through His only begotten Son same as creation was through His Son 1 Timothy 3:16 Col. 1:16.
Scripture tells us we have salvation and eternal life only in Jesus Christ, John 3:36 Acts 4:12 Eph. 4:12 1 Thess. 5:9 1 John 5:13 Scripture tells us we can only come to the Father through Jesus, John 14:6 1 Timothy 2:5.
Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets and died for our sins, and the only way that could be done is in the flesh, the seed of Abraham, Hebrews 2. He experienced temptation the same as you and me, Luke 4:2 Heb 2:18, He had a brain and a will, Luke 22:42 but He was obedient to the Father. We now have a high priest in heaven that lived in this flesh just like us, Hebrews 4:14-16.
Salvation and eternal life only by the grace of God through faith which is in Christ Jesus. Jesus Christ's perfect life in the flesh, His blood shed for us, and His resurrection. We cannot deny the divinity of Jesus, the only begotten Son of God that was before this world, but no creed, doctrine, or statement of faith can be placed above or added to that we must believe to receive salvation and eternal life if scripture does not tell us we must believe. Truth is in the simplicity that is in Christ.
I love this site and the brothers and sisters on it.
God bless,

Important to read all scripture in its full context, not just cherry pick. When reading in context its obvious from countless passages, parables, teachings that God wants us to obey him! Satan deceives believers into assuming doing evil is ok; it's not.
Lord does not mean God. If Thomas said that to Jesus in the previous verse, it should be taken in metaphorical sense and not actual. I cannot accept Jesus as Son of God nor God for the following reason .1. Matthew 24:36
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the Son, but the Father only.
Here Jesus makes a distinction between what he knows and what the Father knows.
2. Matthew 26:39
My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me, yet not as I will, but as Thou will.
Jesus' will is likewise autonomous from God's Will. Jesus is seeking acquiescence to God's will.
3. John 5:26
For as the Father has life in Himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself.
Jesus received his life from God. God received his life from no one. He is eternally self-existent.
4. John 5:30
By myself, I can do nothing: I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who has sent me.
Jesus says, "by myself, I can do nothing." This indicates that Jesus is relying upon his own relationship with God. He is not trying to "please myself" but rather is seeking to "please the one who sent me."
5. John 5:19
The Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees the Father doing, because whatever the Father does, the Son does also.
Jesus declares that he is following a pattern laid down by God. He is expressing obedience to God.
7. John 14:28
The Father is greater than I.
This is another strong statement that makes a distinction between Jesus and God.
8. Matthew 6:9
Our Father, which art in Heaven.
He didn't pray, Our Father, which art standing right here!"
9. Matthew 27:46
My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Inconceivable if he is God the Creator.
Space does not permit to write more.
We get that question a lot.
That question is the source of a lot of debates and division for years.
For me here is a couple of reasons why I no longer like to answer those"original" posts directly.
1) In a way it is like a person asking "if you commit suicide will you go to Heaven?" I am cautious to give an answer to that: afraid of what one might do with that information.
( It can prompt one to continue in sin.)
2) Some ask that question rhetorically. ( Looking for a debate )
You asked for "scripture" on once saved always saved ".Please Forgive me for asking is that a rhetorical question?
However, To be cautious in my answer I would say examine by what means where you saved and your answer lies there.
I can not loose my salvation because I have a great Shepherd who layed down his life for me and calls me by name!! "He said he will never say to me I never knew you!" And he said "no man or myself can pluck me out of his hand!
John 10:28-29.
This same Shepherd said he will NEVER leave or forsake me and he would abide with me forever.
Hebrews 13:5.
John 14:16.
He will NEVER leave or forsake me and he would abide with me forever!!
Now notice John 14:17.
" Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; FOR HE DWELLETH WITH YOU, AND
( SHALL BE IN YOU )
He shall be in me and he shall never leave or forsake me!
In order for us who are "TRULY" saved to loose our salvation; Christ would have to be able to loose his salvation.
Colossians 3:3.
Examine ourselves and by what means you were saved and the answer lies there.
God bless.

Yes indeed, that is a lovely verse. There are some very special words in there that I can share with you from my Greek studies. First off, Jesus says He shall give us another comforter. That word comforter is the word PARAKLETOS. It is also officially in Greek the name for the defense attorney. And in Greek concept, it means someone or something that comes along side of you to help you.
You can imagine that if you got thrown in jail, and the defense attorney came to represent you, he would stand next to you before the judge. He would represent you. That's what the comforter is. Jesus says, "I will give you another comforter."
And in 1 John 2:1-2, He is called the defense lawyer, PARAKLETOS. If you want to know what the prosecution is, it is HASETAN, the Satan. That is the official word for the prosecuting attorney, HASETAN, our adversary!
But check this out: Jesus says I will pray the Father, and He shall give you (another) comforter. And the word "another" means another of the same kind. Another of same kind as He (Jesus) is! Notice this: in order that He may abide, (MENO), with you for ever;
My brother, how long is forever? No end! Jesus is going to send another comforter (His Spirit), and He is going to abide in us, and we are going to be a dwelling place forever! ( John 14:1-3). We have the greatest defense attorney, the greatest PARAKLETOS (Comforter), and one day when we stand before the judge (God), we're going to be covered!
A Lovely verse.
Yes, Jesus did send Paul to preach Christs Gospel - not a different gospel!
Paul and all of the apostles observed God's 10 Commandments per the scriptures.
Paul and the Apostles taught both Jews and Gentiles to follow God's Commandments, including the 4th Commandment, Keep holy the Sabbath Day.
Acts 13:42
"And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath."
Acts 13:44
"And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God."
Under the "New Covenant" which is the Church of Jesus Christ, consists of Jews and Gentiles, and they are all treated the same! No difference. Remember the Gentiles were a wild olive tree. The believing Gentiles branches from the wild olive tree have been grafted into the original Jewish olive tree. Those that produce good fruit can stay in place and thrive. If a branch does not produce it is broken off and burned.
Jesus Christ asks us to keep the Commandments. John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." How can we say we love Jesus, but then we don't try our best to follow the Commandments? The answer" You can't love Jesus and NOT keep "The Commandments"!
As Christian's (Christ Followers) we need to pick up our crosses and follow Jesus, and in doing so, pray that the Holy Spirit will help us along, in the ongoing struggle to follow all of Jesus/God's commands! This then, would be in conformance with the scripture, that show us that Paul, Peter, and all of the Apostles had their own personal struggles to follow and keep God's Commandments.
In summary, Paul does not cancel anything that Jesus taught and instructed in His Gospel.

So, I hope you can see that the Holy Spirit, whether spoken of God or of Jesus, is the same Spirit, for He is one with the Father & the Son. Then when we come to 1 Corinthians 12:13, "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit", again the one & same Holy Spirit is seen here, but we now see His special work where His coming into our lives, affects our spirits and baptizes us (brings us into union) with the whole family of God (into one Body, i.e. of Christ).
Fruit barring.
Let's keep these two verses in mind while we go through this section.
Matthew 22:36-37. and 1 John 4:21.
and remember the context in the previous sections.
Notice the highlights!
Jesus answered and said unto him, "IF" a man love/Agape me
( HE WILL ) keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
( He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings and the word which ye hear is not mine but the Father's which sent me.
These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:23--26.
We've established that Agape is a fruit and can't be achieved by the flesh, "Mans efforts"
Man can not produce the fruit, the vine does. Man is the branch, he bares the fruit. John 15:4-5.
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, NEITHER CAN A CORRUPT TREE BRING FORTH GOOD FRUIT.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matthew 7:15-20. When you look at Matthew 7:13-14 the corrupt tree is any other way to God presented in the wide gate. for instance "WORKS"
That's why these often misused verses follows, Matthew 7:22-23.
This is a fruitless deceived group that thought they worked their way into Heaven.
So tell me why isn't the significance of Loving one another sought after and debated above anything else when it's paramount?
Because some know they don't have that love on display and don't bare it.
God bless.
WHEN you are born again into TRUTH and LIFE ( John 14:6), by the blood of Christ, YOU are no longer a GENTILE.
Romans 2:28 For he IS NOT A JEW which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
Romans 2:29 But HE IS A JEW, which is one inwardly; and that circumcision is of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Revelation 3:9 Behold I WILL MAKE THEM of the synagogue of Satan, which SAY THEY ARE JEWS, AND ARE NOT, BUT DO LIE; behold I WILL MAKE THEM to come and worship before thy feet, to know that I have loved thee.
God Bless You.
Honestly, I've had answered prayer in very immediate dangerous situations, just crying "GOD, help me" possibly even just "GOD" it's possibly because GOD knows if we love Jesus. Romans 8:27,
Hopefully these are helpful

First question: church organizations are not free government services, but cost lots of money to exist: building, property, taxes, utilities, maintenance, staff, like ministers who do that full time also have to have money to live. Members help pay for this. It's not wrong to ask members and attendees to pay a fair share, to contribute and not just be a parasite. Most do not coerce and some don't even ask. There is Biblical support to ask people to support churches.
Second question: most churches don't show Jesus in any likeness or representation, because of verses like: Exodus 20:4-5. When I see pictures of Jesus online they are not in fancy clothes. In fact I have never seen that. What church denomination are you referring to that shows such pictures?
Third question: I'm beginning to think you are talking about catholicism by chance? Because the answer to your 3rd question is the Christian churches who follow the Bible don't not do that. It's wrong to worship Mary and the Pope, and no one else comes between you and the father, but Jesus. John 14:6. God bless.
Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man out of the dust of the ground ....
Man, as well as all creatures, is only a body.
....and breathed into them the breath of life, and man became a living soul.
The soul, or body, has no life outside of the breath and life of God.
Colossians 1:27 ...this mystery ....Christ in you ....
John 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said unto them, Receive the Holy Ghost.
1 Corinthians 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ .......
John 14:6 ....I am the life .....
God Bless You.
