Jesus said in John 14:15, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." So, if someone says anything that seems contrary to scripture I won't believe it, but believe God's Word. When I hear those saying things like obeying God is bad or following any law is bad, I think some nuances of the meaning are missed from Romans 6:15-18 which says not to yield to sin that you were servants to sin, but now are to be servants/slaves to righteousness. Being "free" from sin isn't a free pass to sin. John 8:11. I feel a moral duty to post scripture about this, because Christians hear this in church then go out and get drunk, do drugs, have sex outside of marriage, party, and enjoy following the world. They do that, because they are under the assumption that it's ok, because people (including pastors) keep telling them it's ok since they're "not under the law"- that they're free and can do whatever they want with no consequence. The problem is the Bible doesn't say that. Jesus says you should be concerned and fear the one who can send you to hell. According to Jesus, Christians and anyone else following the world of sin instead of Jesus should be afraid. Luke 12:5. Those who don't obey Jesus don't love Him. Those who don't love Him may not have to spend eternity with Him. God bless.

What is your definition of strict obedience of the law? Is trying our best to adhere to God's 10 commandments too strict? Jesus asks us to keep the commandments. John 14:15. The apostles strived to kept the commandments 1John 5:3. I believe that as good Christians we must also strive to keep God's commandments and in doing so, will help us, to produce the good works that are acceptable to God.

So, I believe that with our Faith, we will be blessed with Grace, and it should lead us toward obedience to God. I believe we agree on this. Where we may disagree is: Faith alone will not assure being saved. Many Christians today believe they can say they have faith and believe, but continue to live in their worldly sin, and they still expect that they will inherit the kingdom of God.

I believe, Jesus says otherwise in scripture, and here again emphasizes keeping the commandments, and producing good work if wanting to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Revelation 12:12-14

12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Brother Chris, you and I will not be the judge, Jesus will be, and he is telling us right here in scripture plainly, what is required of us, to gain entry in through the gates into the city! In essence, we have the Judge telling us before he judges us - what he will be looking for in us!

I'm not sure what you mean by you don't create your own belief. Believing is a choice. We are given freewill to choose who we want to follow and whether to obey. I choose to follow and obey Jesus Christ. John 14:15

Some believe faith is a gift. We can gain faith through hearing the Word of God as it says in Romans 10:17. This verse indicates that God can control the measure of faith we have: Romans 12:3. Some interpret Ephesians 2:8-9 as faith as being a gift, but I believe it means salvation is the gift. I believe we already have the freewill to choose and we gain faith through reading God's Word, just like it says.

No man can judge that you will go to hell, only God can make that final judgement call.

It is true, God gave man the Sabbath Day as a gift to rest our bodies and minds, and set aside and spend special time giving thanks to our creator. It has been well known and celebrated throughout history that the Sabbath Day referred to by God has been observed on Saturday the last day of the week. No man can change what God gave as a 4th commandment.

Why say "If a man love me ... my Father will love him" ( John 14:23a) if the Father loves everybody? Proverbs 8:17 says, "I love them that love Me." Psalm 5:5 says, "Thou hatest all workers of iniquity" Notice it doesn't say works of iniquity; it says workers. This verse alone is a flat out repudiation of the teaching that, God hates sin but loves the sinner. Scripture says that "God is angry with the wicked every day." ( Psalm 7:11) John 3:36 says, "He that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him" Can God "love" the one on whom His "wrath" abides? Finally, Romans 9:13 says, As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

Paul asks rhetorically, "What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion." Romans 9:14-15.

As for the verses you cite to suggest that I am violating God's "love" command, those verses are directed to the community of believers in Christ. What applies to believers does not apply to those who believe and promote a false gospel and serve the god of this world. That's why I said before that you are not my brother. Jesus told the Pharisees, "ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep." The tares and the wheat look alike until they produce fruit and are ready for harvest. The tares turn black and their fruit is poison; the wheat turns golden brown and its fruit is life sustaining. You and most people who identify as Christians are tares sown by Satan. Most people can't see the difference between the the wheat and tares because they look so much alike. It's been my experience that the tares hate the truth and openly resist it and they attack those who hold the truth in God's written word. This is how I know that you and your like-minded fellows on this site are tares full of hatred for the truth of Scripture and those who promote the gospel of grace.

I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

I know how many perceive these verses and this is not to debate that, it is to show my understanding if someone wants to study it.

We see in ( John 13:1) this is right before the last Passover Jesus would attend before he would be crucified, and Jesus just then knew His hour had come. We see this by what He told them in ( Luke 22:14-16). We must keep in mind the things coming, Jesus being arrested, crucified, and His resurrection was hidden from the apostles until after His resurrection and He appeared to them.

When Adam sinned, sin filled the dwelling-place that God could no longer dwell in man and man could not dwell in God. The word mansions are the same word, Strong's 3438 mon meaning lodging, dwelling-place, room, abode, mansion. Jesus told them He was going to prepare a place for you. We know where He was going, the cross.

Jesus did prepare a place He gave is life, body, and blood and that dwelling place that Adam filled with sin, Jesus paid the price and now God through Jesus by the Holy Spirit, God can now dwell in man and man can dwell in God.

Jesus will return, His second coming and when all is new, we will forever be with Him.

The Holy Bible and God's Word is not a puzzle as some would like others to believe. The simple, the meek, the humble, and the children will inherit God's Kingdom. With that said, we don't have to get a PhD in theology to understand God's Word because if we are sincere, and humble, LIKE CHILDREN, God's Holy Sprit will teach us THE TRUTH.

Again, the scripture spoken by Jesus is very simple to understand and sums it all up:

John 14:15

"If ye love me, keep my commandments."

Jesus said the commandments (Law) will last until heaven and earth pass/end. Heaven and earth have not passed YET, so the law is still in place!

Matthew 5:18

"For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

The apostles did strive to keep the commandments, please see scripture below:

1 John 2:3

"And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments."

If we let others lead us away from the TRUTH with the "popular faith and grace argument" we are blinded to the THRUTH!

Mark 7:9

"And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition."

So in summary, we can keep God's commandments and walk in his ways, or follow your own man made tradition, as stated above in Mark7:9

Is that true?

Do you believe is Paul a child of God? In my view, Paul became one of the strongest Christian evangelists in world history. He was absolutely dedicated to preaching the message of Jesus Christ, and wrote more books than anyone else in the Bible. He also wrote the following which he admitted to struggling with sin:

I know dozens of Christians living in sin right now and they are enjoying it immensely. They are taught they don't have to try to avoid it- that human effort is 'bad', so they follow the world and its desires, assuming they're following Christ. I know some assume there's nothing to worry about since they assume they're 'saved', but I am worried for their souls based on what the Bible says. John 14:15-17, ROMANS 11:6, Hebrews 10:26, James 2:19, 1 Cor 9:24-27. Is it 'wrong' to take the Bible verses literally and be concerned for one's salvation? Is it 'wrong' to believe in the Bible?

If there are any differences between what the apostles said, they can be reconciled very easily by what Jesus/God said.

Jesus forgave the adulteress in scripture below:

"She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

Jesus forgave the adulteress and asked her to TAKE ACTION - GO AND SIN NO MORE. If only grace and faith are needed - why would Jesus instruct the sinner to SIN NO MORE?

Jesus also instructs us to follow the commandments(10 Commandments)

In order to keep the commandments it is necessary to take ACTION.

Many Christians today want to take the "easy way" by professing only "Grace and Faith"..and this way of thinking is not in accordance with what Jesus taught.

Rick, thanks for the advice. I do stay with the The King James version and though I get bogged down in the "speech" I still keep going. I am reminded of the scripture Jesus said one time I believe it's in John 16:13 "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:...." (or Comforter as He said in the prior chapter) or Holy Ghost as he said in John 14:26:"but the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,..."anyway I am comforted in the fact that though I may fall short in understanding the Word of God, the Holy Bible, I know the Holy Ghost that I have( with the evidence of speaking in tongues) will lead me into all truth, and show me things to come. My friend the churches are in the same place they have always been. However there is many churches that have left the old paths and fallen for the new modern day scene. The Pastors are preaching all the love but no repentance. They have fallen for what the news media and the governments are telling them. The people of today are just like the children of Israel in the day of Nebuchadnezzar and the 3 Hebrew Children. They are bowing done to the kings and governments. They are looking to man for their salvation. The people need to get back as instructed in II Chronicles 7:14. These vaccines are the way the for the governments to control the people. They are being used along with the media to cause men's hearts to fear the ways of man instead of fearing the Lord God. The Bible says not to fear man for he can only take destroy the body but to fear God who can destroy both the body and soul in hell. We need a whole lot of repentance and then a whole lot of preying from the children of God to make this thing even start to get right. Presidents and their governmental officers can only go so far. God is STILL in control. He has not given up. Matthew 24:3-14 tells us that things must come to pass before the end shall come. Pestilences are here and the COVID is one of them. These vaccines and mask are just a way for the devil to destroy the believers faith in God. God will carry us through this thing. If you are his then just keep trusting in him. He will deliver his either here on earth or when we reach that city. No Christian will ever feel death. We just move up to live with him forever. John 14:27 reminds us that Jesus leaves us peace and it is better than anything the world can give. So we need not let our hearts be troubled for we are his and nothing can pluck us from his hands. Hi Rick, if you haven't seen that then great- it's best to not be exposed to that if not on your guard with the armor on. Plenty of people here say we don't have to worry about avoiding sin or even trying. They say human effort of any kind is bad. This is a false teaching. It involves taking a verse and distorting it to mean the desired outcome, while ignoring a mountain of other verses which are commands to be obedient. Some also falsely assume that just because you do good that you're now trying to 'earn' salvation- nope- we're saved by grace. But Christians are called to follow Christ and be obedient and deny the sinful self. Following Christ is an action. It is a huge responsibility. Some assume they have zero responsibility and can do whatever they want.

I have attended plenty of churches that teach this- where one Sunday you get 'saved' then you're done and don't have to do anything anymore. Then you're told that if you try you're bad or legalistic. They would call Jesus legalistic though for John 14:15. We must beware of false teachings from satan. I know a Christian who will probably be committing fornication tonight and has for years. The pastor taught him he's saved and doesn't have anything to worry about. Is that true?

Then you read something like Romans 6:15-23 that says while we're free from slavery to sin, we're not totally free, but instead slaves (servants) to righteousness. And sinning is "no big deal." But it's very big deal to God. God hates it and sinning is like slapping Him in the face and spitting on Him. That is a very different message than some are Christians are saying. So, those who believe they don't have to try as a Christian probably has a false sense of security and need to heed Jesus's words: Luke 12:5. This warning from the Bible is spread here in love so that all will get right with the Lord and be saved. There's only one truth- and I'd rather lean towards following God than following man's ideas.

I would like to offer another perspective to your comment: "And once you are saved, you cannot lose your salvation no matter what you do!"

I ask, is this true? If true, I would love to commit sins tonight just for fun, because no consequence. Would love to do drugs, have an affair, go to certain clubs to party, maybe even get in a fight, because if we're saved no matter what it wouldn't matter and God would still reward me?

So, is this true that it's from God and not from satan? Before I do that I would first need to find it in clearly scripture and no other scripture would contradict it. So, if I look through the Bible for evidence, I find the following:

1 Peter 1:13 "...hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;"

This suggests grace won't be given until Jesus comes- maybe even after we're judged. But people are telling me I'm saved and have grace now, so which is true? Does anywhere else in the Bible say that?

1 Peter 1:5 - "...salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."

Ok, I guess it does. So, we're not 'saved' yet, huh?

Hebrews 10:26 "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,"

James 2:14-26 "...faith, if it hath not works, is dead..."

James 2:19 "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."

So, believing alone isn't enough? So, maybe faith and actions matter?

Some like to use the same old tired argument to attack Jesus and try to discredit Him, which is: Jesus never claimed He was God.

It's a logical flaw to assume something based on something not being recorded. The Bible never said it's the Bible, either. The word Bible isn't in the Bible, so should we assume it isn't a Bible? You probably haven't ever published a book saying that you're a human being, so based on this logic we can assume you aren't one?

Just because there isn't a direct quote from someone doesn't invalidate a concept from the Bible. For example, the Bible didn't record Jesus ever saying we shouldn't "shoot someone." Does that mean it's ok? The Bible also didn't record Jesus saying the specific words that we shouldn't "have an affair." Does that mean it's ok, then?

you're correct in that the word trinity is not found, that's just playing with words, but you will find many passages that tell of the triune God, these are but a few.

The Holy Spirit is given to THOSE who receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. He is the 3rd person of the Godhead! And Jesus by going to the Cross made it possible to be baptized by the Holy Spirit.

When the believers are caught up to the clouds with Jesus, the Holy Spirits ministry on earth after that will be only for those unsaved people that pray for salvation, AND DO NOT TAKE THE MARK OF THE BEAST. (That mark will have GPS tracking)

Hi Randy Some things to share with you it applies to any who choose want to believe Gods word. Do you want to be miserable? If you want to be miserable look to yourself look within. Do you want to be discouraged? If you want to be discouraged look around at others. Do you want to be peaceful? Ir you want to be peaceful look to God and His word. All His promises are absolute tense Romans 8:37 you can start atverse 31 37 says nays in all these things we are more than conquerors thru him that loved us. That tells you we all have things to conqueror your not alone. Another point in John 14:27 Peace I leave you my peace I give unto you not as the world giveth give I unto to you let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid the word afraid is timid or shrinking. Look at 2 Timothy 1:7 not a bad deal. Too many times Christians are waiting for God to make a move when God is waiting for us. Our brother Jesus Christ was always on the go Preaching teaching and healing. In Genesis 6 God told noah to build a boat and told him why and told Him how you don't read where he said I'll get around to it or whats a boat or I'm not a sailor, or how am I gonna get the animals in. Th bible says in Gen. 6:23 Thus did noah according to all God commanded Him so did he. Think about this in 6:9 the only guy who was just and perfect. Theresa Haggerty, Again I profess not to be a scholar but I am a born again believer and have been filled with His spirit since at a tender age of 9yrs old. To better understand vs 23 we have to look at the whole conversation between the woman and Jesus but time would not permit me to give you a dissertation on it. Lets focus on what Jesus said not only in vs23 but also in vs24. Two things we need to be true worshippers, spirit and truth, but not just any spirit or any truth a true spirit and a true truth or doctrine. So how do I get this true spirit? David said it this way in Ps.51:10 create in me a clean heart oh Lord and renew a right spirit within me. It's a continuous process. Look at these scriptures John 14:14-18 and Eph.4 I strongly suggest you read entire chapters to put these scriptures in the right context. This is going to open up to more questions but bear with me. Lets look at truth. What is truth? Pilate asked the same thing and Jesus said I am. He is the way, the truth and life John 14:6, also He said Thy word is truth in John 17:17. How do I worship in truth? You obey is word, the Bible. We can not have a true spirit if we are not living up to His word and we can not have true doctrine with out a true spirit. Hope this helped. Hi jesse In light of what you shared in Gospel of John 14: 8+9 you would think that after everything they eyewitnessed they got, thank God that they got it at pentecost and made available to us. To think we have never physically seen Him and we believe His word. That's always amazed me.

"Then He touched their eyes saying, According to your faith be it unto you." Jesus had just healed two blind men following him, crying for mercy from the Son of David. He asked them if they believed He was able, whereupon He said the famous verse above, Matthew 9:29.

Faith is key to receiving Jesus' gifts when walking with Him in the Spirit daily, simply by: doing your morning verse and prayer, then practicing goodness with the first two commandments through the day with prayer when you need strength or forgiveness, carrying zero guilt, having no wants, carrying the Shield of Faith at all times after rising in the morning because you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

Faith is key, "For we walk by Faith (in things eternal knowing we are saved), not by sight (the things we see here, the evil, and death). 2Cor5:7.

Getting Faith, or growing it daily is key. It's easy. Jesus and the apostles made it so easy for us with the Gospels. None of the early Christians had the benefit of the Word, though meeting Jesus in person would have been the bomb.

HERE IT IS: "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Your morning verse and prayer alone will grow your faith. Practice walking in the Spirit all day, in faith, in prayer, loving a Creator we live and move and have our being in - that gave His only Son, Jesus, to be the sacrifice for us all, and He was perfect without blemish. We all here have committed sins against the Spirit in our monkey bodies sharing 99 and 84% DNA with chimps and dogs, resp.

So faith comes by hearing the Word of God, and I add reading it will suffice as well. The Word or Bible will grow you as you walk and your strength of faith will grow as well. He has shown the way - our Lord Jesus to get home to Heaven - John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no one cometh to the Father but by Me." And today's VOTD Matthew 17:20 is very special...faith!

It would take a lot of space to give you an answer to both these questions. I'll take question 1 and maybe someone else could help you out with the second question. John Chapter 8 is a very long chapter so I'll try and just give you a summary of the chapter unless you have specific questions on any of the verses in that chapter.

Verses 1-8 gives us the plot concerning the woman caught in adultery. Verses 12 through 20 gives us the proof of deity from witnesses. In verses 21 through 30, we see the perplexity over spiritual matters. And then in verses 31 through 59, we see the proof of conversion. If anyone wants proof that they are saved, just take a look at verse 31 which says, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed:"

Verse 58 is interesting. Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Literally, before Abraham was in existence, I was already in existence, and always have been, the I AM of the Old Testament! These Jews knew who Jesus was claiming to be. That's why verse 59 says they took up stones to cast at Him.

My biblical explanation of John 14:8-9:

In verse 8, Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. It's like we've been hearing about your Father for three years, so show Him to us. You would think that maybe one of them had a girlfriend that said "Are you going to take me home to introduce me to your father? I haven't seen him. I haven't met him yet. We have been listening to you talk about your Father and that you speak His words, not your words, and that it is Him working in you, so show us the Father. Bring Him out!"

Then Jesus says in verse 9 that if you have seen me, you have seen the Father. In John 10:31, Jesus said I and the Father are one. And He is leading into teachings now that are going to say the Father and I, we are going to make our abode in you. I am in the Father, the Father in me, and we are going to be in you. We are going to be all one!

Hello!, I'm going to go ahead and give a disclaimer, I'm NOT a typist or a literary guru or an English major. I do have a couple of questions that I hope someone can clarify for me. Question 1; Biblically explain to me John 8;58 and John 14:8-9. Question 2; How should we be Baptized?
