    1 Peter 1:23

By nature every person is born in sin through the sinful seed of their natural fathers and conditioned therein ( 1 Peter 1:23). For that reason and in order to become a son of God, which are born of God, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God, a person must be 'Born Again' ( John 1:12,13; 3:3-7; 1 John 3:9; 5:4).

By attending a man-made institution ( Acts 7:48; 17:24) a few hours a week does not mean that a person can make a claim that they are followers of Christ and 'Born Again'. That is falsehood, as in truth they follow after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; Rev. 12:9). This is how Satan has transformed Himself into an angel of light ( 2 Cor. 11:13-15).

Only through Repentance will God be able to reveal Himself, and adopt you as His sons and daughters ( Rom. 8:15,23; 2 Cor.6:18; Gal. 4:5; Eph. 1:5; Hebr. 12:5; 1 John 3:1).

The word 'Repent' means a lot more than what people by nature have been conditioned to believe. It is the key principle of all the teachings of Jesus Christ and the axiom (basis) of the Word of God and a prerequisite and primary requirement for the salvation of mankind. It actually means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).

For a better understanding and the 'spiritual truth' of what it means to repent, and learn how and by whom mankind has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9), and what people must do to be reunited with the true and living God, we invite you to seek Him according to the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive ( John 14:17).

You need not that any man teach you ( Isaiah 54:13; 6:45; 1 John 2:27), It is only by revelation of God that you will come to know Christ ( Daniel 12:4,9; Amos 3:7; Matthew 16:17; Luke 2:26; Romans 16:25; 1 Cor. 2:10; Gal. 1:16; Eph. 3:3,5; Rev. 1:1). It is a narrow way that leadeth unto 'Life', and few there be that find it ( Matthew 7:14).

Which commandments does Christ ask us to follow if we love Him and we are His friends, John 14:15,15:14? The rich young ruler who came to Christ seeking to know what he should do to gain eternal life, Christ read from the decalogue, Matthew 19:16-22. The only commandment the young ruler found hard to keep was loving God with all his heart, might, and soul, Deuteronomy 6:5 which even us find hard to keep. The human nature is of sin and what we do best is sin and doing good by God is something foreign to us, Romans 7:14-16, Read Romans chapter 7

Do you think that the ten commandments are supposed to be kept?

Is there anywhere in the Bible where you find the doctrine you have upheld?
  • Jesse - In Reply on 2 Thessalonians 2 - 4 years ago
    Eric,

What you are saying makes perfect sense, especially with the rich young ruler. In John 14:15, Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." What commandments? I like to look at is as one command. Jesus said, "Follow me." That is a command. And I believe that if we are truly following Him, everything else lines up. Now here's something that I find interesting about John 14:15. In some of the Greek texts, instead of a command, it is written in the future tense. If you love me, (YOU WILL) keep my commandments. It's a statement of fact.

Everything in our relationship with Jesus Christ is based on love. People make decisions based on who and what they love the most. That's just a normal way of life. When I have to make a decision between two things, I make my decision based on which one I like the most, or which one I love the most. Jesus might be leading me to do something at the same time that there is something else I want to do instead. So now I have to decide, which one do I love the most?

But Jesus says if you love me, you will keep my commandments. The reason why we don't obey the persuasion of His Spirit leading us to do something is that we love something or someone else more. The Lord might want me to study the word, but there's a football game I want to watch. I've got to choose!

With the rich young ruler, his riches meant more to Him than leaving everything behind to follow Christ. As for loving God with all our heart, mind, and soul, we could not do that without the Spirit of Christ living in us. It's His Spirit that gives us that type of love and ability.

You are correct about the human. All the flesh can do is produce flesh. Paul said that in my flesh there is nothing good. The flesh cannot produce anything spiritual and is at constant war with the Spirit of Christ that lives in us. I don't believe that the 10 Commandments were given as a set of rules for us to keep, but were given to convict man of his sin and his need of a Savior.

The proper of baptism is in the name of Jesus. There is no one baptized in the New Testament ever baptized under the titles Father, Son, HolyGhost. Father is not a name, Son is not a name, and Holy Ghost is not a name. These are titles. Jesus told them to baptize in NAME of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I am a father, and a son, and I have the Holy Ghost, but that is not my name. Jesus is the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost( John17:6; I Timothy 3:16; Acts 2:38, John 14:9) Jesus said except a man be born of the water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Baptism is necessary for salvation. If it were not necessary, then Jesus would not have allowed John to baptize Him. We need baptism. Jesus did not die on the Cross for nothing. Sins are only remitted by the name of Jesus. Baptism remits sins. If we believe that His blood provided us with a door to get to God, we must repent of our sins, be baptized in Jesus name, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost according to the scriptures. If we truly believe in the Blood of Jesus, then we will obey what He said about baptism.
  • Jesse - In Reply on Ephesians 5:26 - 4 years ago
    Walter,

There is a whole lot of truth in what you are saying here. In your first post, you say "Thy word is truth" and that is what does the washing. There are two keywords I see in Thy word is truth, (Word and Truth). Jesus is called the word in John 1:1. And Jesus is called the truth in John 14:6. Both the word and the truth refer to a person, and that person is Jesus Christ. John baptized with water which could not fully cleanse anyone, but Jesus baptizes people with His Spirit. That is the baptism that cleanses us completely.

Now as far as sin goes, for the person who has been born of God's Spirit, that person can still commit an act of sin. However, a person who belongs to Christ is no longer capable of living a lifestyle of continuous sin because God's Spirit in that person is there to convict them and keep them from sinning (Habitually). Prior to receiving Christ, a person can live a lifestyle of sin, sin daily, and think nothing of it. But this is not the case for the ones who belong to Christ.

You mention something that Paul also said, although not the exact same words, "I find no good thing in me except the word (the truth)." As a believer, I understand this to mean that in my flesh there is nothing good. My flesh wants nothing to do with God and continuously wants to get away. But the word, the truth (Christ) in me, He is good. When we as believers stand before God one day, we're going to know we don't deserve to be there. But God is going to look at us and He's going to see His Son. The only way we enter in is to have Christ in us. That is the only good thing God is going to see in me when I stand before Him, and that is how I enter in.

I hope you have truly called upon the Lord to save you. If so, He has promised to save you and keep you saved. You are doing well to immerse yourself in the word. If you have already received Christ, just know that He is the one who lives in you that is giving you the hunger and desire to remain in His word.

For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more shall they that receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, (even) Jesus Christ. Adam's sin has allowed death to "reign" over the human race. We face physical and spiritual death because of sin. We may say that at the present time death is king of the hill ( Hebrews 2:15) for all who are not Christians. Death ceases to be king for those who become Christians because the saved "reign in life through Jesus Christ." Those who are in Christ are able to overcome the spiritual consequences of sin, and they overcome physical death in the sense that they will be raised to inherit eternal life. Death is no longer an unbeatable enemy. It may win a battle when it claims our life, but it will not defeat the Christian in the war for the soul. For information on the word "trespasses" (paraptoma), see the commentary on verse16. Concerning the word reign (basileuo), this same term is used of an earthly ruler in Matthew 2:22, sin ( Romans 6:12), and Jesus Himself ( 1 Corinthians 15:25). It is also found in verse21. Here, it is used twice, and its dual use shows that the reign of death can be defeated if we accept the reign offered by Christ. Describing God's grace as "abundant" (perisseia) caused Paul to use a term found only here, 2 Corinthians 8:2; 2 Corinthians 10:15; James 1:21. In each of these places it refers "to something above or beyond the normal. It suggests 'the element of excess and fullness that overflows the set bounds. In this process of overflowing, the existing standards and rules are transcended and what was comparable becomes incomparable'" (CBL, GED, 5:160). We have access to God's grace right now because "receiving" is a present tense verb. Notice too that our ability to overcome the consequences of sin is only possible "through" (ASV) or "by" (KJV) Christ. This is absolutely consistent with other verses like John 14:6.

The fact is that I righteous by keeping the law, but through believing that Christ died in my place so that I may live. But being forgiven does not mean you continue in sin. The Decalogue shows the character of God which is Love Deut 6:5, Leviticus 19:18. And John 14:15, 15:14 shows this more clearly. Christ called us into obedience as He did the Israelites, He delivered them from bondage and then gave them His Commandments Exodus 20:1,2. If I claimed to be saved and love God, yet I fornicate, kill, tell lies, steal, disobedient to parents etc, would this bring praise and followers for Christ? Read James 2, 1 John 2:1-6, 1 Cor 6:9-10, 2 Peter 3:16, Romans 13:8-10, 6:23 and you will see.

    Jesus, commaned his follower's to be baptized "In The Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost," Jesus knew that they understood who the Name of the Father was ;

    John 5:43 KJV

    43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. Also read;

    John 14:8-10 KJV

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Then Jesus also commanded them to be baptized in The Name of the Son; This should be evident without controversy we all know who the name of the Son is. However, We find in

    John 14:6-7:

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

    Acts 4:12 KJV

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. The most powerful name under heaven is JESUS.

Finally, we come to the Name of the Holy Ghost, that Name is The same name of both the Father's and The Son's is Jesus. As we read about the Comforter in John 14: 16-18

    16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Silly women and ever learning to me equals the Wild eyed young College educated women who scream and yell with protesters in the BLM movement. You can't reason with them. It's sad...I really think we're there!

Bob, I have one more question for you. Is your faith "lukewarm?"
  • Jesse - In Reply on John 14 - 4 years ago
    Bob,

Please do not twist my words to make it look like I believe the Lord is a polygamist. Have I ever heard of the bride of Christ? Of course I have. And I never said there is no mention of the church after Revelation Chapter 3. Please read my post carefully before twisting my words. The church is mentioned in Chapter 19. We are the ones who will be clothed in white garments, the garments of a bride. I find the 7 steps of a Jewish wedding quite fascinating with how it parallels Christ coming for His bride. You may not find it fascinating as you seem to be completely against all things Jewish. Can you show me where in Chapters 3 through 18 the church or the phrase "bride of Christ" is mentioned? If you can show me that, perhaps I might be persuaded to at least rethink my position. Also, since you believe the church has to go through the tribulation, what will the role of the church be during this time?

You say believing Christians are called saints at times? I'm not sure what you are getting at. I know every born again believer is a saint. I became a saint the moment I received Christ. I am a saint by calling. Christ called me and I responded to the call and I received Christ. So I am a saint. It has nothing to do with my human performance. I am a saint because God has set me apart for His purpose. That's what a saint is. The words holy, saint, set apart, sanctified, and sanctification all come from the same word, Hagios.

The church will not be overcome by the Antichrist because the church will not be here. There will be people getting saved during the tribulation and they will be put to death for it. I guess you can say they will be overcome because being beheaded sounds like being overcome to me. They were not part of the church at the start of the tribulation, and the church does not enter into the tribulation. They went into the tribulation as non-believers and refused the mark and received Christ after being warned by guess who? Jews, 144,000 of them!

Jessie there is not mention of the church after revelation 3? Have you not heard of the bride of Christ?

There is no separate Jewish bride and a different Christian bride. There is only one bride and the Lord is not a polygamist with multiple brides. Believing Christians are called saints at times. If you do not see the church it is because you are not looking for her. The Church is going to be overcome in the flesh by the antichrist and be purified of her lukewarm faith.

    Bendito Palavra, Amen!

There is no mention of the church during the tribulation time frame from Revelation Chapter 3 through Chapter 19. I see no mention of the church until I get to Chapter 19 of Revelation. The church will be in heaven while chaos is happening here on the earth. We are the ones in Chapter 19 who will be clothed in white garments at this wedding that is taking place prior to Christ's second coming. Chapter 19 also tells us that at Christ's second coming, we (the church) come with Him.

Noah and his family entered into an ark of safety prepared for them before the flood, effectively removed from the then world's destruction. Later, they were restored to a new beginning. Jesus has gone to prepare a place for his people.

Lot and his daughters were removed to safety from Sodom before the LORD rained brimstone and fire on the cities. Sadly his wife looked back.

Our word "rapture" is derived from the Latin "rapiemur", used in the Vulgate translation of 1 Thessalonians 4:17 for "caught up" or "snatched away".

Enoch is our prototype for rapture in Genesis 5:24 and Hebrews 11:5 (translated that he should not see death...).

Another precedent: 2 Kings Chapter 2 tells us of Elijah being taken to heaven by a whirlwind in a chariot of fire.

Song of Solomon Chapter 2 relates a king calling his bride to come away with him from her hidden place, much as we can imagine Christ calling his Church out of this world.

!st Corinthians 15:51-52 declares the mystery that some will not sleep (bodily death), then promises all of us will be changed into the incorruptible and immortal.

Truly no man knows the day or hour, but the book of Revelation does not mention the Church on earth beyond the third chapter. In Revelation 7:9 an innumerable multitude of the saved out of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues stand before the throne praising God. After this the wrath of God falls upon the inhabitants of the earth, which wrath the Church is not appointed to (1-Thessalonians 5:9).

These few verses let's us know if we truly love and personally, know the Lord Jesus as Savior or if not, we are found liars: John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." 1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

James 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
