This is my favorite chapter of the bible! I love how we can see the close relationship Jesus had with his Father and how much they loved each other. And to think that they want to share that love with us!
  • M Kamal A Rahman on John 17 - 5 years ago
The is only one God worthy worship, and Jesus is only the messenger of God.
  • Maria Pelaez on John 17 - 6 years ago
Once we accept and love our Lord we are being transformed into his likeness, we should walk as he walked, speak and think as he did. This is a true child of God. We are the light as he was the light, yet many did not accepted him. Hence, we must abide in him so that we remain as the light given to us in spirit since the beginning of the world. Verse 21, 22, is a witness of this sanctification
  • Vanessa on John 17 - 6 years ago
Jesus was preparing to go home, and he was praying for his disciples that walked and he taught the word of God to keep them from the evil. So they would not conform to the way the way of the world and except all sin as we do today, they led the way for the church, and spoke the warnings but we dont want to know these words, they dont even want to teach these today, many will knock few will enter

That God, Jesus the Holy Spirit are resting places for us eternally. God sent his only begotten Son and it is only because of the sacrifices of a Loving God that we enjoy Eternal Life.
  • John on Luke 6 - 6 years ago
Christ Jesus our Lord is what I believe in Luke. God is merciful and faith is the truth. John 17:17 Love is the word. The chapter 6 speaks of his disciples. Lord I want to be in that number. Lord I believe help my unbelief,

BSP: Question for BSP - Where in this chapter does it say Christ only prayed for his disciples(12)? If you are saying that Christ only prayed for those he preached too -(southern kingdom Israelite's primarily ( John 18:20), to include the 12 disciples, then I agree, otherwise is not in scripture.
  • BSP on John 17 - 6 years ago
Verse 15~Jesus prayed for his disciples who had to live in a wicked world that they would not become like the world in any aspect.
  • TK on John 17 - 6 years ago

  • BSP on John 17 - 6 years ago
Verse 14~Jesus was no part of the world and as Christians we should imitate him in not being part of this world that is lying in the power of Satan.
  • A disciple on John 17 - 6 years ago
"Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: as thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him...I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine." Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, and God is only glorified in Him. There is no place for the world.
  • A disciple on John 17 - 6 years ago
"Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: as thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him...I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine." While it is the mark of the sons of God to love as God loves, we are marked out by Jesus as separated.
  • BSP on John 17 - 6 years ago
Verse 11~Jesus prayed for his disciples to be united just as he and his Father were united. We should work hard to preserve our unity.
  • BJ on John 17 - 7 years ago
God and Jesus are one they were one before the world began. He always was and always will be. It always was God the Father, God the Son and god the Holy Ghost. They all have separate duties and description but they are one. Jesus did the work God gave him to do and finished the work.
  • John B on John 17 - 7 years ago
In the beginning he said let US make man. Jesus said I and my Father are one. For this cause shall a man leave father and mother and cleave unto his wife and they twain shall be one.
Like the Father and Son are one.
  • BSP on John 17 - 7 years ago

Ephesians 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: We must look in to our hearts and find what's there. God can see our hearts, we will before him confess the Jesus is God. Love Love Love
  • A disciple on John 17 - 7 years ago
Janet; Ignorance mostly because we are raised in a society where ignorance and the heathen bullies those who are better than them, and so good and smart children with great potential are subdued by fear, because they want to be accepted and fit in. How many are the tragedies of beautiful children lost to drugs and a life characterized by self-indulgence and moral corruption and spiritual laziness!
  • Janet on John 17 - 7 years ago
Disciple, you are right about your comment on Reg. Some do it out of ignorance but some laziness. Even human beings names are not spelt with small letters.
  • Ray321 on John 17 - 7 years ago
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. People today don't know who Jesus is. Jesus is God.
  • A disciple on John 17 - 7 years ago
Reg; It should very much matter to you to show the appropriate reverence and respect, and see that Christ and God is capitalized when you write! You can do that by holding the "shift" key while typing the C and the G! However one has or has not enough training and practice to write well; it is important that they learn; and I will always push on that: for it will only be for your benefit and good.
  • Reg on John 17 - 7 years ago

God's Word is Truth. Jesus His Son kept us in full remembrance of this in John 17.
