This comment is for Ann. Your reference to Isaiah 45:5 and 6 is supported by Jesus 's own prayer to his God and father the night before he was to be betrayed, tried, humiliated and tortured to death. At John 17:3, Jesus identifies the only true God.Trinitarians will always have trouble with the word "only ".

And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. John 17 summarizes that as Jesus is so we ought to be. 'As Jesus is so are we '. So by his grace we grow to be more like Him in everyday of our Chritian walk as we claim, posses and live these prayers.

Marvin you need to read John 17:21 it will help you to understand the meaning on John 10:30 afterall if Jesus is praying to his father for himself, his father and his followers to be one does that make his followers god? And Isa 9:6 Jesus is called mighty god but even in the commentary of ps 83:18 on this website it calls Jehovah Almighty. Might: Great Power Almight: Complete and all power. So one is more powerful then the other Jesus is never given the title almighty.

Our Heavenly Father provided us his Son Jesus Christ because of his love John 3:16. Our job now is to believe Jesus as the Son of the Living God who have redeemed us on the cross in order for us to be saved and have life in abundance. Jesus himself is a word of God. Therefore we must believe his words and keep his commandments. Jesus is given us a chance to read the Bible and to listen to his words in the Church everyday. Jesus words are given for us to believe not to understand. Jesus loves us and he is faithful to his promises that he will never ever leave us nor foresake us. Jesus is guiding us to the living water as it was a commanded by our Father. We must be Born Again in Spirit and invite the Holy Spirit to dwell in us. Without Christ we cant do anything. All things are possible with Christ . Amen

The reach of this verse is not limited to Catholic priests only, hence the word PREACHER. A prevalent lie that I hear being preached is eternal hell-fire. If eternal hell-fire included spirits of blood and water then these verses would not be true. Psalms 65:2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. Psalms 145:21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever. Luke 3:6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition that the scripture might be fulfilled.......the son of perdition is the anti-Christ, the devil. May the LORD Jesus Christ bless all who yearn for truth and obedience in Him. Amen

Trinitarian Alert:Verse John 13:3 says that Jesus knew that his father had given him all authority and that he,Jesus, was from God and he was returning to God. If Jesus is God,and there is only one God and no one else Isa 45:5 , why would Jesus return to himself? There is not one agreeing scripture to substantiate Jesus returning to himself. This is because Jesus, who at John 17:3 identifies the only true God, is going to God and is not God. He is the exact reflection of God. The same image. What is that? Well, God is spirit.Phip 2:6.

Amen to Kevin, he hit the nail on the head. Satan the great adversary of our souls wants us to be distracted. Satan will use your own biases to get you off the main message that Christ came into the world to save sinners. Brother Kevin gets it exactly right. God speed Kevin.

All, It is such a blessing to see all the comments and sense the excitement of many of you. I want to take the opportunity to encourage all to focus on the only viable point of many thousands of years of scripture. We cannot please God without understanding we are all sinners and need the provision of the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus. There are differences of opinions - Trinity or not, works vs grace, baptize or not, gift still in operation. Paul advises us to not argue over these issues, either we believe John 3:16 or we do not. Satan wants us to focus on secondary issues as opposed to spreading the Gospel. To encourage a younger Christian by revealing scripture is correct however please focus on building up rather than disputing doctrines that at the end of the day may create divisions and discourage younger folks. As we mature in Christ, the Holy Spirit is fully capable of giving us better understanding, like Paul said, when I became a man I put away childish things.

Cox, Do you not remember where, while on the cross, Jesus said "Into Thy hands I commit my spirit. " We must rightly divide the Scriptures, comparing parts of it with other parts of it so as not to be mislead. The Scriptures will always rightly interpret themselves.

according john17:11 and 13 our lord jesus christ had long left his physical body before his arest and crusifiction. jesus said "iam no more in this world " and he further said in v.13 "now i come to thee " he never said i will come after my crusifiction and death. if we take letral meaning of these two vs its clear that his spiritual being had long left before his arest and crusifiction. meaning if we can have letral faith in the word we can move mountains. amen.

This is a perfect example of what our prayers need to be like so as to strengthen and encourage our loving relationship with the Father as well as with each other.

Jesus Christ is the Light John1:4 . Waliking in the light means to walk in Jesus Christ. Waliking in Jesus Christ means to walk in the Holy Spirit and not in flesh darkness . As Christ is in the light Holy Spirit , we are connected and made one by the Holy Spirit in Christ in God John 17:21 and the blood of Jesus cleanse us from all errors, mistakes, confessed and forsaken sins Not sin not forsaken Romans6:1

As Jesus is about to go to the cross to die and shed his precious blood for the sins of the world, He prayed for His disciples and those who had believed on Him, then he prayed for those who WOULD believe on Him. That is US! He is like a father making sure His children are provided for after he is gone. What a Mighty God we serve. Angels bow before Him, heaven and earth adore Him. What a Mighty God we serve!

Jesus prays to the father that he has finish what god has sent him into the world the world to do and that is to preach the the gospel and let the world know that the father sent him. He also ask the father to keep the ones that has believers on him as well as the ones that will believe later. He ask God to glorify him as he has glorified the father and to protect those that had. Been given to him

Hello Mike: John 17: 17 "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth ". So do I understand that you do not believe that Jesus calmed the sea? Do you know of any human man that calmed the sea? I believe that God calmed the sea. God is the only one that can control the waters on this Earth. Why do you think the bow rainbow appears in the sky? This is a reminder for God not to destroy this earth with water, Genesis 9. In the end, the word of God is true.

Christa, I will pray for you. Maybe God is calling you. We are the sheep of His pasture. When I was in nursing school several years ago, we were required to dissect a sheep 's brain. Not the thing for me. I am in to beauty, plants, etc. Anyway, our professor remarked how our human brains are anatomically the same as a sheep 's brain. It is true. Amazing! God is amazing. Like sheep we have gone astray. We are easily led but really need a Savior, the Shepherd in Psalm 23. Jesus wants us to rest in Him. Yes, and He wants us to believe, trust and obey Him. The Unity sermon is interesting because Jesus wants all His followers to believe the same, John 17:23. Do you have a Bible with a good concordance and are you meeting with a group of believers? Have you given your life to Jesus yet? Find a church that prays, believes in Christ as God 's Son, baptizes believers immerses and is growing. I am sorry you were judged. It must have been a small church. Lots of questions. What other books have you read in the Bible? The gospel of John is a good one. The very next book is Acts. It talks about the beginning of the church. Exciting to read about! Above all, pray that God leads you and shows you what you should do. He will. And Job is amazing! He had just lost his family and everything and he bowed down and praised God! Life can take some drastic and tragic turns sometimes and we can get lost in sorrow. Best to look to the Savior to lead us to pastures of rest.

I rewrote Part 1 of 3: Part 1 of 3: Hello Jacob: James 2: 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? The scripture is still valid, because it is the truth and the word of God, John 17: 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth . The 12 men were not saved, this was the purpose of Paul rebaptizing them and laying his hands on them. It also shows the importance of have Acts 2: 38.

John 17 records the prayer of Jesus in which He declares His power over "all flesh " aka the human body. His declaration of "Eternal life " in regards to "all flesh " denotes the institution of immortality upon mankind. However, it takes unwavering, doubtless, faith for mortal humans to manifest this blessed state of being. Jesus said, "My Word shall not pass away " subsequently anyone who abides in His Word "without doubt " can literally manifest the Heavenly proclamation, "he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. " Literal immortality is the sole benefit of the saints of Christ that are "alive and remain " at His second coming. This group of believers will ascend into Heaven without experiencing physical death. Like the blind man who received his sight, and the lame man that "picked up his bed " and walked, the remnant of saints His second coming will literally be the answer to Jesus ' prayer recorded in John 17. Total "oneness " is obtainable for anyone who manifest in the flesh the prayer of Jesus "to as many as thou hast given him. "
