The name of the child to be born shall be called The Almighty "God", The everlasting "Father" ( Isaiah 9:6)...the same name "was the Word" and "was with God" and "was God" in the beginning ( John 1:1-2) who "was made flesh" ( John 1:14)...and it was the "Word" of God ( Revelation 19:13)...which is "a name written, that no man knew, but he himself" ( Revelation 19:12)...and it was the "name of the Father" whom Jesus Christ manifested and declared to those whom he has chosen out of this world to KNOW him and his Father ( John 17:1-26)
  • Rosalinasaysonkotapay on John 1 - 11 years ago
Marc:...I agree with you because we should KNOW KNOW WHO our LORD Jesus Christ really is...The Word "was" God and "was" made flesh ( John 1:1,14)...Let us NOT LIMIT ourselves in believing the "name of the FLESH" of our Lord Jesus Christ only...but also to believe his "name before he was made flesh" and accept the fact that he is NOT OF THIS WORLD ( John 17:1-26)...therefore it is true that "his flesh" did pray to the FATHER whenever he asked anything from HIM the same way as he taught us to do when we want to ask something through prayer from our God the Father ( Matthew 6:5-13)

To Edmund:...all those you quoted from the bible are RIGHT...Mosima:...The Word "was" God before he "was" made flesh ( John 1:1,14) and it is NOT to mean "all the words of teachings" in the bible...Esemansin:...Since Jesus Christ is the LIGHT of the WORLD therefore we must all BELIEVE him and his words WITHOUT exemption IF we want to turn ourselves from being dead in the darkness and choose to stay alive in the light.

Disciples of God believed that GRACE and PEACE are from GOD OUR FATHER and the LORD JESUS CHRIST(1-Thessalonians 1:1)...NOT from Jesus Christ ONLY...Since the ELECTION OF GOD is by the GOSPEL which the disciples preached ( Mark 16:15-16)and it came to us in WORD, in POWER, in HOLY GHOST (1-Thessalonians 1:4-5)...which we received after BAPTISM in the NAME of the FATHER, and of the SON (WORD - John 1:1,14), and of the HOLY GHOST ( Matthew 28:19-20) and these three are one (1- John 5:7) which is the mystery of godliness (1-Timothy 3:16) in the HOUSE OF THE GOD, the CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD, the PILLAR AND GROUND OF THE TRUTH(1-Timothy 3:15)
  • Fenton McCahill on John 1:1 - 11 years ago
Regarding John 1:1 debate. Let us look at it from whom God is. To be The God of scripture Christ would have to exist in three major attributes, namely: Be all knowing (omniscient), All powerful (omnipotent), and everywhere present(Omnipresent). Scriptures teach that Christ has all three. First, John 1:12 tells us that it is Christ who gives us the power or authority to become children of God when one receive Him. He would not be able to do so if He were not Omnipresent and Omniscient. He would not be able to be our personal Savior not knowing us. He would not know any thing about us. He is to judge the world how could He do that if He is not God who knows all about everyone of us. He couldn't be our personal shepherd if He does not have the three God attributes. He could not be sovereign over all principalities powers and Lord over the His Church if He were not present over every born again member within His Body called the church. Lastly, John 1:1-3 and 1 John 1:1-3 are not prefaces but prologues. John throughout His teaching showing how the Christ (the Word) has to be God in human flesh and to be worshiped as God as also the Father as the one true God. Both John 1:1-3 and 1 John 1:1-3 are stressing that the Logos is eternal (existing before all creation). The Christ (The Word) was before creation as we have in Gen. 1:1. Christ is the eternal Word is what John is getting at. Christ is eternal and not merely from a point forward as everlasting.

In the beggining the was the word, the is God. Without reading His word you can never get the true revelation on who He really is. Going to church without reading the word you can never grow. Thus read his word

There is a lot of talk about God, which is good, don't get me wrong. John 5:19, do you see what Jesus, who knew he had all power but states, and I might add, important for all of us, "The Son can do nothing in himself"... This hit home with me, we have our many problems and struggles, why? You can do nothing in yourself, as the father do, you do... Read John 6:63, one of the best verses I keep reading, discerning? Yes...

John 1: 4-5 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. if today we live the the way we want we are in the Darkness because we do not know the truth. we are used by evil the thing we do are in the darkness and evil is darkness, we mast find our way to the light because he is the light. GOD is the light

John 1:11 He came to the things which were his and his people did not take him to their hearts. We want GOD to be with us but we do not want him in our Hearts and the control of a man is in the heart. we want to do things in the way we likewant forgetting that we will say LORD LORD and he will say I don't know you.
  • Rev. Autrey on Romans 3:23 - 11 years ago
(Verse 23) "For all have sinned ..." This means that because of our sinful nature we are going to commit sins. This applies to all people, whether we live under the law or grace. The issue is then, how do we get rid of these sins. Or stated more plainly, how do we make ourselves righteous.

Paul states plainly that we do this by letting Jesus take away our sins. "He has done this through Christ Jesus, who has freed us by taking away our sins. For God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to satisfy God's anger against us." He goes on to say, "We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed his blood, sacrificing his life for us."

In other words, the death of Jesus was a subsutitute for our deaths. That is, it was supposed to be us dying on that cross, but Jesus took our place. This is what it means to say that we are saved by grace. Because in his gracious mercy, God did not punish us, but instead placed the punishment for our sins on Jesus.

I use the terms "God" and "Jesus" to mean the same because as it is expressed in John 1:1, "... and the Word (Jesus) was God." That's why Paul in 1 Timothy 2:3 calls Jesus "God our Savior."

The principle of double reference will be apply in this explanation. The seed of a woman could either be use literarily or symbollically. The first literal meaning is the first reaction of the seed of a woman (man) and a snake when their come in contact.Either the man or the snake will try to hurt each other. The second principle had interpretation in the spiritual dimension. In this case, the seed of a woman represent Jesus Christ and all those who are spiritual sons through salvation( John 1:12).The spiritual battle between satan and man, with the defeat of satan on the cross ,the pain satan inflicted on man and inturn the later victory of the christains were as a result of this inherited curse in Genesis 3:15.Jesus even had to go through pain before He attain glory.Hence the first son,Jesus and other sons had finally bruise the head of serpent.

(This is my response to Dom Di Stroia's comment 8/12/2013 at 4:47pm on Acts Chapter 9):

Our Lord Jesus Christ was saying upon "THIS ROCK" I will build "MY CHURCH" ( Matthew 16:18). That spiritual "ROCK" was "CHRIST" ( 1 Corinthians 10:4). Therefore, HE meant to say upon "MYSELF" I will build "MY CHURCH". That Church which He built is none other but the "HOUSE of GOD", which is the "CHURCH of the LIVING GOD", the "PILLAR and GROUND of the TRUTH" ( 1Timothy 3:15). That "TRUTH" is our "LORD JESUS CHRIST" ( John 14:6). That "TRUTH" is the "WORD" of GOD ( John 17:17). That "WORD" was "MADE FLESH" ( John 1:14). But "BEFORE" the "WORD" was "MADE FLESH" HE "was" "GOD" ( John 1:1). If you understand the greatness of the "MYSTERY" of His "GODLINESS" ( 1Timothy 3:16) therefore there is no doubt that you belong to the "CHURCH" that "JESUS CHRIST" built upon "HIMSELF" because you also believe the "TRUTH". It was written in In Colossians 3:1-2, "If ye then be "RISEN" with "CHRIST", seek those things which are "ABOVE", where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things "ABOVE", not on things on the earth.

Jesus for example(though born in a human family)was not born of human blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of man but of the holy spirit. Saints likewise are fathered by the holy spirit in human families to perform what God wills on earth. Similary satan fathers his children through human families and are the majority called by christ 'generation of vipers'

(This is my respond to Jabulani's 1 John Chapter 4 comment about verse 2 on 9/05/2013, 10:16am):

These verse 1 John 4:2 means that Jesus came from spirit to dwell with us here on earth who are in flesh. In fact, this scenario was made clear in John 1:14 that says the "Word" was "made flesh", and dwelt among us. Therefore, it simply means that Jesus was "not" in the form of flesh "before" he was made flesh. He came out "from" God as it was written in John 17:8. That's why in John 1:1 it says in the beginning "was" the Word and the Word "was" with God and the Word "was" God. And the day he was born here on earth, that's the time he came out of this world in the form of "flesh". That flesh whom we called Jesus Christ was declared by God as His beloved Son. It is also mentioned in 1 Corinthians 15:50 that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Therefore the Word was in the form of spirit before He was made flesh and was born here on earth in the form of flesh who was known to us as Our Lord Jesus Christ.

My respond to 9/06/2013, 4:56pm - Comment by "Yusef" about Hebrews Chapter 7: Since Melchisedec abideth a priest continually, therefore he was being "interpreted" then as King of righteousness, King of Salem, King of peace; without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God. In fact, even Abraham himself whom he blessed was considering him as a great man and a great priest by giving him the tithes he was collecting from a priest named, Levi. But that "interpretation" to Melchisedec's greatness shouldn't be taken as literal. He wasn't literally immortal like God so to speak. He's just as equal as Abraham and Levi. Meaning, He's just a human beings who also feared God and have done his service to the Lord. Regarding the issue "God is a jealous God" which was written in Exodus 34:14, it simply means that God is jealous when you worship "other god". These other gods are any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: (to which other people bow down and serve) as it is written in Exodus 20:3-5. Jesus Christ is not among other gods. He was the "Word" in the beginning with God, as mentioned in John 1:1-14 and there's no writings there that says they are partners.

Jesus is God. Also the Holy Spirit completing the trinity is also God. When us christians and the world realize what this book,(John), is telling us and open our hearts to the Truth, then, and only then will we be saved. ch.14. v.6

This is my respond to George mbui's Genesis Chapter 1 comment about verse 27 on 9/09/2013, 1:40pm: It is the "Word" who was with God at that time. You will see that in John 1:1.

The "fear" (acknowledgement of the authority & power) of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (learning obedience to His Word). His Word is God (Jesus Christ- John 1:1-14)Himself ! How can you know what to do & what not to do, if you have never read, heard or been taught? The BIBLE (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth)is to let us know the character & love of God toward us. It gives us Commandments & Precepts on "How to Live" so we will not have a sorrowful life. It lets us know we can call on God for the answers we have yet to learn out of the 66 inspired, infallible Word of God.
  • Rev. Autrey on John 1:29 - 11 years ago
(Verse 19) "Look! There is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" John made this statement in reference to the removal or forgiveness of our sins. When we are saved, that is, when we believe or have faith in Jesus, his substitutionary or atoning death takes away any and all of our sins. This leaves us clean and righteous in God's sight, free to do the good works God has designed for us to do.

To be a subtitute means to die in the place of another. This means that the death of Jesus was not capricious. It's legal basis was to place Jesus in the place of all people and punish him for their crimes.

This could only take place if Jesus is the one who made us, and is therefore God. This is what David means when he says, "Open for me the gates where the righteous enter, and I will go in and thank the Lord (Jesus). Those gates lead to the presence of the Lord (Jesus), and the godly enter there. I thank you for answering my prayer and saving me!" ( Psalm 118:19-21) The prophet Isaiah says the same thing in Isaiah 45:21-22: "... For there is no other God but me-a just God and a Savior-no, not one! Let all the world look to me for salvation!

What we are talking about here is self identity or personality. That is, the self identity or personality through whom God's saves us is Jesus.

we have the power to become children of GOD if we believe and are born again ONLY! We were made in God's image but became children of Satan the angel of light when eve was deceived but Adam was not and willfully sinned against GOD!
  • Ann Fox on John 1 - 11 years ago
John Barnes, I am so glad to hear you say that. The God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob--the Great I AM tells us he is a jealous God--and will have no other God's before him. The Christ, the only begotten son of the Father is and always has been part of the Father. He was in his bosom. Our Redeemer is the first born of many. He is the last Adam that came forth from the Father. Therefore shows the Father's love (and desire to save creation) that He Himself came and became man to overcome and die that we might live. Giving up His Son was the true sacrifice for the loving Father...the One True God! The One True God is truly Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!

John 4:24 God is a spirit. That is why no one has ever seen God in fullness.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and and the word was GOd.

John 1:14 The word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

If God is the word and dwelt among us then who is GOd? Jesus would be the flesh.

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

He is the Father, Son and God.

Rev 1:8 and 11 Iam the Alpha and Omega the beginning and the ending, and whish was, which is to come , the Almighty.

11:Saying I am the first and last: etc.......

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the Lord King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the lasts and besides Me there is no other GOd.

Only one GOd and He was made flesh and He is the first and Last. Jesus spoke it in Revelation that He was Fist and last.

Only one God, Isaiah speaks of One God and in John 5:7 the three are ONE. The reason Jesus is praying to the father is that He was also flesh and the flesh was not Glorified yet. Yet Jesus did not sin because He couldn't because He was GOd.

This is why Peter can say in Acts what name to be baptized by. Peter knew Jesus as God and His name is above all names.
