Since we know that 2 Peter 3 speaks of the world that was and actually it was an earth age before that perished and we know that at the end of the destruction in Jer. 4 vs 27 that earth wasn't destroy to a full end and Peter himself tells us that this world meaning the earth age we are in was reserved for the judgement of ungodly men. Anyway born again is 509 meaning born from above. We came here.

Bruce, 1 John 3:6, Whosoever abideth in Him SINNETH NOT, whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him. A little sin is the same as a lot of sin. Without spot or wrinkle. 3:8, He that committeth sin is of the devil for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifest that He might destroy the works of the devil. A little sin goes a long ways. God Bless

Obie, HOW TRUE! JOHN 3:16. The Holy Father gave His Son, a gift to us, for our salvation. A gift is free. And for all of us to receive and enjoy forever. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world, through Him, might be saved. Thank you Heavenly Father for saving us through your most Holy Son, Jesus Christ.

Hi Bruce! Yes, I know there are 66 bks.; it was rather late when I wrote that. And the 'table'; the Lord doesn't put ANYTHING into His word that is - superfluous. God doesn't does not waste words, such as novels.

Dave:--- And they that were crucified with Him reviled Him. Mark 15:32/ the thief on the cross has a repentant heart,he knows Christ is innocent and believes, his mind and heart is unshackled: and he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou cometh into Thy Kingdom. Luke 23:42. You say a changed mine falls under works. How will you be saved?

John (on 'John') - You can't serve God by just the book of John. All 69 bks. of the Bible are God's Word. How old are you?

1st birth -born of water - Natural birth thru woman(flesh), 2nd birth- V. 7-8, Born Again-in the Spirit- Believers, When the wind bloweth, Something in your heart start to give way when you hear about Jesus. It's dealing with you and you don't know where is coming from, it moves you, and it takes you..till you believe(When you come to Christ). Every Believer goes thru this.

I John 3:6- whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not, whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him. V.8- he that commit sin is of the devil, for the devil sinneth from the beginning. 1 John 5:18,- we know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not, but he that is begotten of God, keepeth himself, and that wicked one touched him not. Jesus has the power.
  • David on John 3 - 7 years ago
The thief on the cross simply believed upon Jesus. He spoke of no repentance as that means too have a change of mind and falls under works. Nowhere in the book of John does the word repentance appear, Nor does repent of one's sins. This fallacy has been added by man and adopted by most religions. Cannot add words to the Bible to fit whatever man's religious self righteous false Gospel dictates.

"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, WE speak that WE do know, and testify that WE have seen; and ye receive not OUR witness...For he whom God hath sent speaks the words of God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure." We also read; "...and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God." Things too high for us put us in our place! But the heathen rages!

Read I Corinthians 14:19 for clarification. God Bless.

Speaking in a tongue is a sign to unbelievers, not believers, as stated in Bible. Better to speak 5 words to edify believers than to speak in tongue not understood.

Jesus " very words" say to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
  • Irene123 on John 3 - 7 years ago
Rom. 3:8 - we need to be very careful about what the Bible says; Mk. 16:17 are Jesus VERY words, and Rom. 8:9 confirms those words, as does Acts 2:4; !0:46; 19:6.

Mary; in verses 5-8 the Lord was explaining and answering Nicodemus' question, directing it to the level of his natural thinking. We must be cleansed and born from above by the Spirit to be able at all to enter into the kingdom of God. This "New Birth" from above, is like the wind: you can hear its sound; but cannot know its circuits. So is the nature of the New Birth being "not of this world."
  • Bruce on John 3 - 7 years ago
Mary:When you were born: first birth. The Father calls (Tug in your Heart) John 6:44/ When you ask forgiveness you will be Baptized with The Holy Ghost:Matthew3:11/ You will be changed: 2Corinthians 5:17 / Being born of The Spirit: born again). V:8 You will see the world with new eyes, your desires will be different.Your bad habits will disappear, your friends, won't know why,in the Bible,Church more

To be born again - one is born naturally as a physical body. To be born again is a spiritual birth. It happens when you follow Acts 2:38, (note v. 37 where, after Peter's very first message in Jesus new church, the people ask, " ... what must we do?"). Then, all the 'letters' after Acts are instructions to the new churches that have already followed Acts 2:28 on how to live a faithful life.

There seems to be some argument going on about being Born Again. Read carefully what the Lord answered Nicodemus about this: "You are the teacher of Israel, and these things you know not?" Ever since Abel, those who looked for the Promise of the Redeemer, offered sacrifices to call to remembrance in faith of that Great Sacrifice of Christ to come. Rabbinic Judaism had lost or discarded that truth.
  • Roy Sims on John 3 - 7 years ago
Hector D, in no way shape or form did the law save anyone or else sacrifices would've been made once and for all. But, under the law sacrifices were made constantly around the calendar to cover transgression. Under the law the Israelites received Mercy but Grace came by Christ Jesus. Under the law you had to always do something to receive Mercy but under Grace Jesus did it.
  • Irene123 on John 3 - 7 years ago
The 'cross' thief - he repented in a situation where he couldn't be baptized. This is an example of TRUE 'death-bed' repentance, and only God knows the heart in such a situation. Since Jesus was God (manifest in the flesh) He knew his heart and granted his prayer.
  • Hector D on John 3 - 7 years ago
It is impossible for anyone to be born again at the cross, for the born again plan of salvation was not yet completed. Jesus had not yet died, buried and raised again. God has always had a plan of salvation for each period of time of man's existence. In Noah's day the plan of salvation was to get in the ark. Moses'day was the Law,by faith. In our day, Jesus said, you must be born again. Acts2:38!!
  • Wayne on John 3 - 7 years ago
Kevin, baptism is an answer of a good conscience toward God, 1 Peter 3:21. Baptism is a sign to all the sinner is now redeemed and a child of God. Walking in the light as He is in the light.
  • Wayne on John 3 - 7 years ago
Kevin, the thief on the cross repented to Christ and went to paradise with Jesus without being baptised.
