V.3. Jesus' statement is a direct response to the ability to do miracles, as stated by Niccodemus. The kingdom of God (where God is king) relates to Niccodemus' phrase "except God be with him". Jesus said, "Except a man be born again (rather "from above") he cannot "see" or "enter" into (V.5) this specific aspect of God's kingdom, namely, the working of miracles. Aparently, Niccodemus was born from above in order to recognize that the miracles of Jesus were from God, although he did not enter into this aspect of performing miracles like the other disciples later on did. Vs. 4,5,& 6, define that this birth is spiritual in addition to the natural birth (of water). I cannot imagine this refers to water baptism.

this "begotten" was never in the original script.. so it is thrown out in the new RSV version. It is pathetic to see that even though jesus never said it, the original manuscript did not say it, and yet you want to interpolate the verse to fit your "wishful thinking" that somebody was sacrified for your sin. all will die and all will be raised.. and then it would be too late for the major sin of making partner onto GOD who is alone. and in bible itself jesus said many times, do not worship other than god and yet instead of listening to him, you listen to some body , "according to", "unknown" etc..
read your bible.. not what "some" say..but read what jesus said.. what moses said.. use your brain that was given by GOD..

I would like to answer the question: The Bible says in Romans 8:9 that if we have not the spirit of Christ he is none of his, That's why we must be born again in John 3:3-7 of the water and the spirit. Jesus told peter that, in Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. The Bible is true and very well spoken and we must obey. On the day of pentecost peter used that key and he told the people how to be saved in Acts 2:38-47 and the Lord added to the CHURCH daily such as should be saved, the word CHURCH stand out because it was the key to salvation from the plan Jesus spoke to peter about. Please feel free to ask any questions.

One of the greatest scriptures throughout all of the Bible is I John 3:9. It mannifests the extreme genius of God the Father. The ability to put in just one sentence some of the most significant truth regarding God's righteousness, justice and love the joy of our salvation, eternal security.

"Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin, for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin because he is born of God."I John 3:9

Let's review. First, who is born of God? "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God..." I John 5: 1 What happens when we are born of God? God the Father imputes to us judicial righteousness or perfection. We, in our new status, as judicially righteous, are considered perfect, "...doth not commit sin..." Understand, in context, this scripture is referring to a judicial perfection. Therefore, we do not sin(considered)perfect only from a judicial standpoint or rendering.

As I previously said, while commenting in the book of Romans we are considered judicially perfect and righteous yet still a sinner, an oxymoron of grace.

To continue. "...for his seed remaineth in him..." The seed of eternal life, once received, can never be removed. Why? Again, as I've said. Double jeopardy. God can never impute sin or condemn us again. Sin is dead, by virture of atonement, to the extent of penalty, spiritual death.

Such logic also explains the remaining part of this scripture "...and he cannot sin..."That is, we are eternally secure and nothing can separate us from the love of God since all sin is dead, resolved, unlimited atonement.

The scripture ends in circular fashion, to reiterate why we are secure, "...because we are born of God..."

I believe he is referring to a carnal mind cannot view GODDLY things. I think this also goes for people seeking a physical kingdom to come....Do they not see the kingdom now? If not, what does this say for them?

Was God himself in human flesh? Is God limited to being 3 persons-trinity? I suppose that we, being sons and daughters of God by faith in the divine Savior Jesus Christ, might still be trying to frame the supernatural realities to fit into our limited earthly dimentions. In Jn. 4:24, Jesus said "God is spirit". The divine Spirit can hardly be framed into our number system as being trinity, because He is actualy everywhere. Jesus, in a spirit sense, was in heaven while being here on earth. John 3:13 & 14:3 K.J.V. are buth spoken present tense. It seems that spirit realities are not limited to earth's laws. In other words, an aspect or facet of God can be wherever He chooses to be without needing to fit into our mindset.

You have to come out stright from the water, believe that Jesus is the son our God and repent your sins. (if you search your key words you will find several time when Jesus said do as I did when asked how to be born again.

Additional understanding to the Word of God. And i want to share my own iterpretation to this. Some say that the bible is only made by man, made by intellect people, like making a book, a magazine, a newspaper & others, but the truth is YES you are right it is made of man,but aaccording to ( 2 Tim 3:16)ll All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. This is meaning of the bible, the answer is already in this verse and you will not loss,if you analyze this. And we know that it is the Word of God ( John 1:1-14) And if we defend our faith in the bible we will not have a mistake, but instead we will have eternal life, and the bible speaks of eternal life to those who will seek the Truth, ( John 8:32) John 5:39-Search the scriptures for in them ye think ye have eternal life, and they that testifies of me. Meaning we will have eternal life through the scriptures of thru the bible itself. Scriptures means word of God, in other words Scriptures it is the Old testament and New Testament. We cannot receive eternal life in other things. And if we don't have eternal life we cannot be save. And the scriptures is telling us that it is God who testifies for all of these. Nobody can testifies who Jesus Christ is, it is the scriptures, and nobody can prove that we will receive eternal life thru our good works, we can only base our salvation to the word of God or to the scriptures. There are some people who made man made books with their intellects but never explain how we can receive eternal life, God is a Spirit its a fact we cannot twist the word of God 1+1= 11 Its a fact we cannot remove this, when God said I am spirit, without body, without shape meaning God is invisible. That is why thru the scripture we inherit eternal life but there must be something to do and everything is written in this book to have eternal life and it begins first to have faith in God, and trust God in order to receive eternal life this is my explanation about this scripture. We must not worship God just to attend churches but we don't know what we are worshipping so there is a compusion for the word of God, we must find where is the church that teaches that God is a Spirit thru this we will know that we are in the Truth. Baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and baptized of the Holy Spirit of God ( Acts 2:38) ( John 3:3-7)
God bless you all...Jesus loves you.

Just a correction to bri's comments on chapter 3:16. The verse reads "should not perish", not "shall not perish". Yes this is the essence of Salvation, but the word "shall" implies the 'once saved, always saved' doctrine as an absolute. If this were true, then why bother going to church, reading the Bible, or for that matter living the life Jesus commanded us to live? Salvation is a gift from God, but it has some strings attached. We have to do do our part, meaning we have to pray, treat others as we would be treated, love thy neighbor as thyself, etc. Even if we did all these things, we could still be in danger of losing this precious gift. The two things Jesus specifically mentioned that will not be tolerated were unforgiveness and blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. The "believeth in Him" part of the verse means, among everything else He said, we believe we can lose our Salvation for unforgiveness and blasphemy. Jesus said it. I believe it. Bottom line, don't think for a moment that showing up for church will get you to Heaven. Sorry if that troubles anyone. I didn't write it. lol.

Prior to this i would like to share something about our topic, ( Romans 5:12)for by one man sin entered the world and death by sin so death passed upon all men for in that all have sinned.....We know that the bible clearly state that both of them disobeyed God's command, as stated in this verse FOR BY ONE MAN SIN ENTERED THE WORLD,One man means not particular to one man only but two person,( Genesis 2:24)meaning they shall be in one flesh. In ( Genesis 2:16-17) Thou shalt not eat of it, for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. When Eve begin to have fellowship with the devil, She begin to have a desire about the fruit in the midst of the garden, the devil expalin to her that you will not die if you eat the fruit but rather will be like God, Adam saw Eve that when She ate the fruit she did not die, but God said you will die, so when Eve gave him the fruit after he ate this, their eyes where opened and saw that they were both naked and covered with them leafs, and so the bible said In the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die, they died on that day because for the Lord one thousand day for the Lord is only ONE DAY that is why they died on that day, but because of God's love to them before sending out from the garden God clothed them with skin of animals (Lamb)for the remission of their sin because God commanded them only ONE COMMAND! ( Hebrews 9:22) without shedding of Blood there is no remission of sin. because there was a sacrifice blood for them a blemish, without spot of a lamb. ( John 1:29) Lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world.

This is very important matter to all of us,the sin which committed by Adam & Eve was forgiven but there was something happend there was a consequence a far reaching consequence of their sin, we inherit the original sin which is death from hell, the only way to escape this is to have reconcilliation with Christ thru baptism in water in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins, this is the only key for us to enter God's Kingdom without repentance and without baptism we will all likewise perish. ( John 3:3-7)
Without being born again of water and of spirit we cannot enter into the Kingdom of God, for there is two salvation God wants to happen to all, being baptized of water & spirit and after this process we must continue to be with Lord in his second coming ( Titus 2:13) This the TRUTH the truth that will save us from damnation, because Jesus said I am the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE no man cometh unt the Father except thru me.

    Godbless you heart...

  • Joshua D on Acts 2 - 13 years ago
Verse 21 says "And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." It doesn't say whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, and be baptized, and attend an Apostolic Pentecostal Church. If you read the entire New Testament it doesn't even say you HAVE to be baptized to go to heaven. There are verses that speak of baptism as being an important step of faith, but not a requirement for heaven. The man on the cross with Jesus was told by Jesus himself that he would be with him in Heaven, and he was never baptized or attended an Apostolic Pentecostal Church. While baptism is important to the Christian life, and attending a correct bible preaching church is what God wants for our life (not a denomination preference, but a right church) the ONLY key to salvation and heaven is accepting Jesus' payment for our sins. Read John 3:16, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9-10 and Romans 13, and none specify anything other than belief in Jesus as our savior. Baptism, church membership and daily bible reading and prayer are vitally important parts of Christian life, but the only key to heaven is Jesus himself.

I cannot accept that I am more better than you because only the Lord Jesus Christ know the heart of a person. So, we the believers must have a competition to each other to become pleasing to his sight, in John 3:22. a person can enter into the kingdom of heaven must have a pure heart. Faith alone and works of a Pastor/Minister/Reverence/Priest cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven if you accept verse Mat. 7:21. Our God will judge to our works whether good or bad. Our God will not judge to our faith to Him. But God judge us is based in His words. Supporting verses : 2 Cor. 5:10; John 12:48 & Ecclesias. 12:14.

V.13. Heaven; (heaved up place). Possibly; (The higher spirit world). In Eph. 6:12, the powers of evil are said to be in high (heavenly) places. This is from the same Gr. word as in Eph.1:20, where Jesus is now set (seated in a position of supreme authority).
While Jesus was on earth, He was apparently also quite in touch with this spirit world, so He could rightly say "The Son of man, who is in heaven, as in a fourth dimension. In John 14:2-3, He says, "that where I am" (present tense), referring to his Father's house, there you may be also. Now catch this; In Eph.2:6, Paul says,"God has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus". It sounds like we are not only citizens of this 4th dimension heaven but in a position of authority as ambassadors for Christ, while being in Him. This is too wonderful for me to write about, and I plead for correction if needed. Jesus is Lord!

Let us not forget that Chapter 11 of Leviticus as well as Deuteronomy 14 are the food laws that we are to keep forever and they are not just ceremonial laws as Doug suggests. Yahweh is the same today and forever, He changes not; see Malachi 3:6, nor does Yahshua change either, see Hebrews 13:8 and 9. Sin is the transgression of the law period; see I John 3:4. Take note of I Timothy 4:3 "to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. His Word is the Truth, so let's obey Him and not eat any abominable thing such as pork, etc. See Deuteronomy 14:3; Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing. And finally see John 14:15; If you love me keep my commandments. Enough said!

The comment Christ made about being born of water is a reference to the ambiotic sac of a child we are physicaly born into this world in water in our mothers womb. The verse before that where nicodemus ask how can a man enter into his mothers womb and the verse after where Christ says that which is born of flesh is flesh demonstrates that. Bieng born of water is a reference to the ambiotioc sac of physical birth.
