Rick:V:26 let us make man in our image---. 1John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father the Word and the Holy Ghost:--. I never heard of three gods? Is 1John 5:7 saying there's a Trinity in heaven keeping record and they are the Father the Word and the Holy Ghost?

We must not forget that the main focus of the Bible is Jesus Christ. God chose Abraham not because he was the greatest saint though he is the father of the faithful but because of God's grace Gen. 12. For by grace are we saved Eph. 2:8,9. By making Abraham a name and him a blessings to the families of the earth mainly through Joseph and Moses in Egypt delivering them God made his own name Great.

The Abrahamic covenant was made with Abraham, Issac and Jacob. After the cross, a new covenant was made. The Israelites were promised the Savior, and that was why Christ was sent to them first, to let them know their Shepherd had arrived. When He gave His life on the cross, all races, kinds, etc. could be saved if they believe on Him. The 'Jews' are not Abraham's children. Read John chapter 8.

God's 'chosen' people. God chose Abraham and his seed as His people. Because Abraham was the first to have faith COMPLETELY in God (God called him 'friend'). Noah, altho' was righteous before God, he 'fell' after the flood; Abraham never did. The faith Abraham had was in his genes and his teaching to his family. In Isaac shall thy seed be called. It's just the way it is; it's of God.

@ William, that is because they are not of God as He stated in John ch. 8 v. 44-45:

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

You right Jesus is God. 1Tim 3:16; Isa 9:6; John 1:1; 1:14; John14:7-9 Father is a title, son,a title, Holy ghost a title. Look at the word name if it was three it would of said names. Also Acts 4:12; We read all in Acts about baptism in the Lord Jesus. Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism. 1John 5:8; Deut6:4; 1John5:20 God will open up your understanding to the scripture if you will allow

I cannot understand how we can study verses 36 to the end of chapter 5 and read what Jesus is telling the Jews and yet have people assuming they're the "chosen" people. Just as in chapter 8 He's telling them that they can never understand the word of God that's given to the true Israel. At verse 43 He tells them; I know you and you have not the love of God in you! A horrible incrimination!

The Holy Spirit is Jesus. In Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said in the NAME. These 3 TITLES have a NAME. Lets look at the scriptures for the NAME. In John 5:23 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

From the man being heal at the waters of Bethesda we can learn that no one need ever say that "I have no man" to help me, because we all have the Son of God, Man of Holiness to help and save us all. And He is ever calling unto us to "come" and He will heal us of all our infirmity if we be have faith and try to follow His ways and keep His commandments. "for faith with out works is dead.
  • Donna Wilkins on John 5 - 8 years ago
Verse 25: Christ speaks of the dead hearing His voice, 26: He speaks of the father having life in Himself, and has given he Jesus life also in Himself, 28-29 Christ speaks of the graves being opened or the resurrection of the dead. We are created in the image of God, Christ His son was given a mortal and resurrected body. So thus the Father like wise has a physical and spiritual body.
  • Cyrilhassanally@gmail on John 5 - 8 years ago
It would seem from vs 29 that Jesus is basing his judgement on works done. Paul on the other hand says not of works so that any man should boast. James says faith and works he combines Jesus and Paul in his formula.there seems to be three different formulas to heaven

Like so many of us the paralytic lived on the edge, the perimeter, close but just outside his miracle. Like many of us he had excuses, "no man to put me into the pool", "another steps down before me". I believe we can all relate to his feelings of defeat and despair. There has been a heavenly transistion, no longer do we have to wait for a certain season or be the first one in the water!

Explain then how the rich man lifted up his eyes in hell after he died and saw lazerus afar off
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord or in hell.Man is a triune being made after
Gods image. We are a never dieing soul that will live in heaven or hell for eternity we have a spirit and
live in a body. Where you spend eternity depends on what you do with Jesus. John 3 says

To Dimitri: I believe the Word of God, so I will give you scriptures to prove, that what God said is true. I have studied God's Word for over 50 yrs since I was Saved. If you do not believe the Bible. Do NOT respond back. I will not argue with you. Your body is dead (asleep), To be resurrected in the last day. Colossians 3:3,7 - I Thessalonians 4:13-18 There are so many more scriptures.

John 5:25 In the Gospel of John, Jesus is dealing with the Jew Israel , so it might be talking about the dead in Abraham Boosem.

Only through our OBEDIENCE TO GOD'S WORDS WE WILL MADE WHOLE. The Paralized man was not healed when Jesus came He was healed the moment he obeyed what Jesus told him to do. When we deligently seeking God and obey his words we are releasing our Faith. Jesus made everything new its time for us to THANKED HIS BLOOD AND PRAISE HIM AND FOLLOW HIM TILL RAPTURE. I love you and trust u Jesus

After you die, you go into a deeeeeeep sleep coma. Time esentialy stops for you, 100000 years can go by and be like 1 second for you, cause you don't feel anything anyway.. In the Bible, death has always been likened to a sleep like state: 1Ki 2:10 1Ki 11:43 2Ch 14:1 , .... and the list goes on and on and on........... just search for: "slept fathers" You experience nothing: PSA 146:4 ECC 9:5-6 Important examples: DAN 12:2 DAN 12:13 1Th 4:16-17 JOH 6:39-44 No offence, but the belief that once you die you to paradise or you go to hell is taken from non-Biblical religions.. and i'm really sorry to those who hold dear to it. But please just be honest to yourself and to God: Always be Patient.. it took me years to know this.

To Susan - sorry, I hadn't read your previous comment of 26/5/16 at 3.37pm when I gave my comment. It looks like I copied what you said! Obviously we believe the same thing. Also, in the books of John 1, ( 1 John 4:10,14 - God sent His Son), ( 1 John 4:15 - confess that Jesus is the Son of God....) we read 1 John 5:5-7 - proof of the Trinity. Verse 7 will prove this. Again, 1 John 5:11

The bible says in ( Genesis 1:26) Let us make man in our image. After our likeness.
The Bible tells us about the three persons of God.
The Father. The Son. And the Holy Ghost. They are one not in number but in unity. (1 John 5:7) For There Are Three that bear record in heaven. The Father. The Word. And The Holy Ghost; and these three are one.
