    @Ock

    John 6 clearly defined the BREAD OF LIFE and that is Our Lord Jesus Christ ( John 6:48). He is the bread of life because if you BELIEVE in HIM you will have EVERLASTING LIFE ( John 6:47). He was talking about the "SPIRIT" that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth NOTHING: the WORDS that HE speak unto us, they are SPIRIT, and they are LIFE ( John 6:63). The BREAD was said to be "he that cometh to me shall never hunger"; and the blood was said to be "he that believeth on me shall never thirst" ( John 6:35). THEREFORE, "IF YOU COME" to Him then you have EATEN the "BREAD OF LIFE" and "IF YOU BELIEVED" on Him then you have DRUNK the "BLOOD OF CHRIST".

    Bethleham translated means house of bread.
    Manger translated means eat.
    Bethleham (bread) + Manger(eat) = Eucharist
    Could not be any clearer !!!

    John 6:51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give IS MY FLESH for the life of the world."
    John 6:52 The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us "HIS FLESH TO EAT?"
    John 6:53 Jesus said to them, "AMEN, AMEN, I say to you, unless you EAT THE FLESH of the Son of Man and DRINK HIS BLOOD, you do not have life within you.
    John 6:54 Whoever EATS MY FLESH and DRINKS MY BLOOD has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.
    John 6:55 For MY FLESH IS TRUE FOOD, and MY BLOOD IS TRUE DRINK"
    John 6:56 Whoever EATS MY FLESH and DRINKS MY BLOOD remains in me and I in him.
    Many argue that Jesus was really saying "this represents (not is) my body and blood." However, Aramaic, the language that Jesus spoke, had over 30 words for "represent," but Jesus did not use any of them. He used the Aramaic word for "estin" which means "is.
    St. Ignatius of Antioch (35-109 A.D.) "Disciple of John," From Eucharist and prayer they hold aloof, because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the FLESH of our Savior Jesus Christ....just as where Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church"

    The closeness of God to the working of Jesus is shown in his saying, "Whatever you ask my Father In my name "believing", He Will Do it. this is a direct promise of Jesus the Christ. he cannot lie, so be it.

    Here is the essence of what free grace does for the true believer. We are never justified by works because our works are all tainted by sins. The only way a person can ever become justified, that is, declared not guilty before God, is by the free grace of Christ through which we are redeemed. This is why a true Christian can never lose their salvation. It has been divinely sealed by the free grace of Christ. Since He was the one who redeemed us, He has stated that He will never lose any of us. ( John 6:37 KJV) All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. Those who swallow and follow the free will heresy have no concept of the free grace of Christ in redeeming His children. They, in essence, declare themselves justified based upon their actions and not on the action of Christ. This is why many who believe they are saved are not because a spiritually dead person cannot enact their own salvation by their own volition. It is simply not taught in Scripture but is forced upon certain Scriptures so man can retain his pride, even in salvation. Justification not only declares us not guilty of all our sins but places the believer in a position of righteousness. Amen glory to God for saving me...

    If you may reflect on the character of Jesus through out this chapter we see a humble leader a humble form of teaching,he could be asked questions and answer them even with reference to that wich had happened before to the Isralites coming from Egypt Im not sure if it was written or not but it was a truth known to the people he spoke with,maybe if our preachers today learn from the ministry of Jesus Christ and not make preaching seem like a perfomance but an interaction,because not everyone understands the words said,in this day its so much words so little taught.

    The Words I Speak Unto You Are Spirit, And They Are Life...
    John: 3: 5, 6, Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John: 3- 18, He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the NAME of the only begotten Son of God. Thank You Jesus...

    (My comment to Lopez garvens): your still in the flesh because your even now claiming it... John 6:63, it's the Spirit that gives Life, the flesh counts for nothing, John 5-30, Jesus: In the flesh I can do nothing, as I hear... John 3:8, those born of the Spirit, it is like the wind. Right after Jesus recieved The Spirit like a dove descending on Him, it's states right after that He Was (led), into the desert for 40 days, The Holy Spirit takes you to places you do not want to go...that's the proof were not in the flesh, he didn't go into the desert for 40 days to find a Starbucks... As he hears... In the flesh, like Jesus, He was told by The Spirit to go, so He went, we choose to live in our flesh. You want evidence your not in the flesh, be willing to go where the Holy Spirit tells you, the same is for me, you, even Jesus...

    There is a lot of talk about God, which is good, don't get me wrong. John 5:19, do you see what Jesus, who knew he had all power but states, and I might add, important for all of us, "The Son can do nothing in himself"... This hit home with me, we have our many problems and struggles, why? You can do nothing in yourself, as the father do, you do... Read John 6:63, one of the best verses I keep reading, discerning? Yes...

    The flesh profits nothing because the feelings and/or will of the flesh is rooted in sin, bringing only devastation and failure. The Spirit is rooted in Christ, bringing with it power, love, and soundness of mind.

  • ROYCHEN on John 6:33 - 11 years ago
    erses 36-46 The discovery of their guilt, danger, and remedy, by the teaching of the Holy Spirit, makes men willing and glad to come, and to give up every thing which hinders applying to him for salvation. The Father's will is, that not one of those who were given to the Son, should be rejected or lost by him. No one will come, till Divine grace has subdued, and in part changed his heart; therefore no one who comes will ever be cast out. The gospel finds none willing to be saved in the humbling, holy manner, made known therein; but God draws with his word and the Holy Ghost; and man's duty is to hear and learn; that is to say, to receive the grace offered, and consent to the promise. None had seen the Father but his beloved Son; and the Jews must expect to be taught by his inward power upon their minds, and by his word, and the ministers whom he sent among them.

    I am realy touched by this chapter. It is regretable that many of Jesus' desciples left him when they failed to understand the eating of flesh and the drinking of Jesus' blood!!
    Nevertheless, I am much encouraged by Simon Peter's answer on 6v68, when he indicated that they were there to stay;why? Because Jesus alone has taught them the words of eternal life and they believed Him.Even me today,I am here to stay,nomatter what mr devil do or say concerning my life!!!!! No, I am here to stay-Amen and Amen!!!!

    The first part of the verse tells us to be detached from p***ing worldly things and attach to heavenly and lasting realities. The second part which was interested to me is that God has ***igned Jesus as His mouthpiece and not as "the Seal of the Prophets" declared by Muslims for Muhammad the prophet and claim to be the "last prophet" and as other past religions believe in the finality of the Prophets. In this verse though Jesus attested and sealed as the saviour of the time, but it doesn't mean that He is "The last One", Please ponder on this truth for a while. Regards

    THE VISIBLE HISTORICAL MOSES AND CHRIST, THE HUMAN BEINGS WHO MINISTERED MANY YEARS AGO ARE COPIES OF HEAVENLY INVISIBLE MOSES AND CHRIST WHO ARE THE TWO BIBLES IN ONE BIBLE AND ARE READ TO THIS DAY 2013; ONE IS THE OLD COVENANT BIBLE (MOSES) TAUGHT IN CARNAL UNDERSTANDING USING HISTORICAL EARTHLY VISIBLE THINGS OF THE BIBLE FROM THE BOOK OF GENESIS TO THE END OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION AND THE OTHER IS THE NEW COVENANT BIBLE (CHRIST) READ AND INTERPRETED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT REVEALING THE INVISIBLE THINGS OF HEAVEN.

    THE OLD COVENANT BIBLE AS THE MOTHER IS CALLED AGAR THAT BEARS CARNAL CHILDREN FOR ABRAHAM/GOD, BUT AS THE HIGH PRIEST IS CALLED MOSES, THE BIBLE WORD FROM HEAVEN BUT DOES NOT GIVE ETERNAL LIFE TO SOULS.
    THE NEW COVENANT BIBLE AS THE MOTHER IS CALLED SARAH THAT BEARS CHILDREN BORN OF THE KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, BUT AS THE HIGH PRIEST IS CALLED CHRIST, THE NEW BIBLE WORD ALSO FROM HEAVEN BUT GIVES ETERNAL LIFE TO SOULS THAT ARE ENABLED BY GOD TO READ HIM (WHO IS COME IN THE VOLUME OF THE BIBLE BOOK). It says here for all who are "in Jesus" ALL sins are washed away and forgiven. Even ones you might backslide to apparently. Why? because "NO Condemnation" is a VERY final term and to nth degree. It trumps all others easily. Amazing grace literally! Thank you JESUS! He came not to condemn but save to all who take his glorious God sent saving and loving hand ( John 6:37). It also adds later that whatever is not of FAITH is sin, and not to doubt.( Romans 14:22-23) Jesus also told us to have Faith in God. ( Mark 11:22) Note: Jesus did have his own set of commandments. One of many being to love one another like he has loved us.

    Not only did jesus say I am the way the truth and the life no man cometh to the father but by me. this lines up with John 10:9 where jesus says Im the door by me if any man enter he shell be saved and go in and out and find pasture.Also John 6:44, Mark 16:16,and Acts 2:38 So through his resurrection [JESUS] We live through baptism in the name of jesus christ we die to sin. Rom 6:6 Rom 14:7 Gal 2:20 And 2Cor 5:15 never forget Eph 5:2 therefor as 2Cor 2:14,15.

    It makes it very clear, that God chooses us, we do not choose Him. To be one's chosen or elect, means that someone else is doing the choosing or electing and it certainly is not us. God causes our will to line-up with His calling. He is sovereign and can choose whomever he wants to be His children, whether we like it or not or whether we feel it is fair or not. Romans 8:20 and 9:19-24 make it very clear.
  • Andy on John 6:54 - 12 years ago
    So many believe that Jesus meant this symbolically. In fact, it is the ONLY documented many of His followers leaving Him over something He said ( John 6:66). If it was symbolic, then He surely would have said, "Remember those parables? This is one. Come on back!" Instead, He simply asked the apostles, "Will you leave too?"
  • Peters on John 6 - 12 years ago
    What I understand from John is that Jesus was in the beginning. He was the word. He was with God and he was God. He became flesh and dwelt among us. But some of us did not recognize him, which some people still don't today. He tried everything to be close to us for us to love him, trust him and believe in him. However the devil tries to put disbelieve in our mind. Even though he is not here in the flesh, I believe in his word. Worry is not in my vocabulary, because I pray about everything and trust God. Nothing can happen to me unless God allows it. Therefore I trust him in all things. There is not a friend to me like Jesus. He is everything to me. He heals me when I get sick because I believe in him.

    Since John 17:3, Philippians 3:8-10, Matthew 7:21-23, verse 9 covered by a thick cloud, Jeremiah 29:13 that the people might hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever. John 6:17-8; 8:12. Jesus marveled in Matthew 8:10. Is there a greater marvel elsewhere? Is the only disease (BELEVING A LIE) caused by either Deception, or Pride. 1 Corinthians 4:7 there is only One God Who cannot lie, Hebrews 13:8. Who says there are no absolutes? The statement is an absolute, humble unselfish FATHER already knows everything, and is the answer, yet humanity is so wrapped up in their shallow little plans they miss the mark. His Glory Revelation 4:11, Galatians 2:20-21, Genesis 15:1, Philippians 3:12 Came here to understand this veiled verse 19:13 but got sidetracked. Sound unfamiliar 2 Corinthians 3:18, Ephesians 4:13.

    Everyone needs to understand the HUGE difference between what Jesus is saying in verse 53 and verse 54! In verse 53 Jesus is saying that the Son of man will demand people accept his false religion/doctrine or die/be killed. What Jesus says in verse 54 means if people accept the Christian doctrine of Jesus, they will have eternal life. Jesus has called Bread "doctrine" in scripture. St Matthew 16: 11, How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? 12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

    God has designed and prepared a way of escape for every person, ever born. Genesis 18:14 God asks humanity," Is there anything too hard for God?" When we modernize this verse, is there anything too great to expect from His Truth, His Power, or even His Love? God is EVER-READY to save any soul that's willing to yield (humbly believe) to His Holy Word.
  • Vincent on John 6 - 12 years ago
    This chapter is by far one of the most impassioned pleas made by Jesus for man to believe in His word and live by his word. It seems to me that Jesus is trying different ways to get it through to man that God will forgive all your sins and give you eternal life if only you believe in Him.
  • Jay on Mark 4 - 12 years ago
    @ St Daniels,
    This individual is correct in that we must be born again to receive the truth of understanding and wisdom of God's holy word ( John 3:3-5; 4:24).
    1. The bible is written for believers after they have been regenerated;
    2. But one does not stay saved by their works of goodness (righteousness);
    3. We are saved by the faith of Jesus Christ ( Hebrews 12:2), all we do is ask for it ( Romans 10:10-13). It is his (Jesus) faith that saves us and keeps us saved ( Hebrews 12:2);
    4. Anyone that believes you can lose your salvation after being born again, does not comprehend the meaning of being born again ( Colossians 2:9-13);
    5. Jesus is eternal and when you receive him as lord and savior, your become eternal (new nature II Corinthians 5:17). Your flesh is still able to sin, but the new seed you have received does not sin ( I John 3:9). Flesh and blood will not inherit the kingdom of God ( John 6:63; I Corinthians 15:50). A new baby is born with a live body, live soul, and a dead spirit. When a person is born again they now have a living soul, a living spirit, and a dead body. There is a trade off at the moment of salvation ( Ephesians 2:1-10).
