John chapter 8 seems like it would be worth reading about this situation as well as some of the other comments I have seen....And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. John 8:11

Bob Hilt, What men call, the "Webster's dictionary" is where thou doth seek thy understanding of the words of life? The very words of knowledge that came forth from the lips of God? Isaiah 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
    John 8:47
He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

wine is a mockery and strong drink is raging and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. ( Proverbs 20:1) Look not upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his color in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. ( Proverbs 23:31-33) who can take a rattle snake in their home and feel safe? In the end we are putting ourselves in danger. We only have to look at the drug, alcohol and wine world today to understand the danger of strong drink. They did call Jesus a winebibber, but they also said he cast out devils by the prince of devils who is Beelzebub. Jesus said that Satan was a liar. ( John 8:44) Jesus was neither, Satan lied.

John 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. Jesus is not confused and he didn't tell anyone to do anything that couldn't be done.

We condemn ourselves and others condemn us. if we believe in Jesus we are not condemned.
  • Evangelist Andrew Kelly - In Reply - 5 years ago
I don't believe in Jesus, I believe Jesus which means I belive his words. Jesus is no longer here to talk to like my neighbour. 2nd Corinthians 5:16-17. Jesus gave us his words. Jesus said in John 8:31-32 the truth sets you free not Jesus it is his words. Paul preached Christ in me the hope of glory. Christ lives in me and whosoever by his words which are spirit and life.

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus unto them saying I am the light of the world he that followth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Genesis 1:3 John 1:4 You have the light in your life you will always over come any situations in your life amen.

I agree Zac what a beautiful demonstration of God's love.

I love this chapter. I never forget the story of the adulteress. Jesus was the only One worthy to condemn her. The Pharissees figured that out, and left. Jesus then forgave her. What a beautiful story.

Yes Randy only in Christ Jesus are we Perfected Hebrews6:1 having put our Carnal flesh to death by The Spirit Romans8 when working out our Salvation but not meaning working for it. But if we Sin before we are Perfected having had True Heart Repentance Jesus is our Advocate and than being set free from the Slavery to Sin we walk in the Freedom of The Spirit of God's Love- John 8:34-36- 1John2:28-29

In John 8:59 - did Jesus make himself 'invisible' and pass through the midst of them? What does the verse mean?

Verse 44 Satan the Devil is a liar and is described as a father of the lie because he was the one who told the very first lie.

1-59 above (at that time) Jesus 'faithfully follow' HIS duty assigned to HIM by GOD, though the opposition from certain religious people was great.

We are no longer sinners thanks be to Jesus but we are the "RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD" in Christ Jesus! ( 2 Cor. 5:21) Jesus paid a high price for our freedom from sin! Only sinners sin willfully and longer! Whom the son sets free is free indeed! ( John 8:32) We can't be a little bit sinner and a little bit righteous, one or the other.

I found it amazing that they accused him of being a **. And went so far as saying that he was possessed with a devil.

It is impossible to understand that Jesus proceeded and came forth from God, for it is a matter of faith. Even thought the people witnessed his miracles and heard his sermons as he taught daily in the temple, yet they doubted. The Devil works hard every day to deceive the people, and lo, they are deceived. Which of us could fast alone in the barren desert, and face down the Devil. It happens!

1 John 3:10, "In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil..." John 8:44, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do." Only saved people are children of God. All other people are children of the devil.

You say that no one can live without (willfull) sinning?
Leviticus 11:45, Leviticus 20:7, 1st Peter 1:16 all command you to be Holy.
Romans 3:23 says "All have sinned (past tense) and come short of the Glory of God".
In John 5:14, Jesus tells the man that was healed from 38 years of infirmity to "sin no more" ALSO John 8:11 to the woman saved from the stoning.
    Jesus wouldn't ask the impossible!

There are so many messages that can be preached from this chapter but lets focus on one and that is prayer. This group of men knew just where to find Jesus early in the morning, because the scripture tell us that Jesus went early in the morning to pray. Do we start our day with prayer. When you talk to God as you start the day with prayer. That day will always be a good day. Prayer must come first
  • Patrick Medrano on Genesis 3 - 6 years ago
The first three verse of the Bible reveal the Godhead to us.

1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth
    (God the Father)
1:2 And the earth was without form, and void;and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
    (God the Holy Spirit)
1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
(This light is Jesus) ( John 8:12)
