Discuss Joshua 15

Hi Chris, this comment is in reply to what happens to the condemned soul.

The following quotes the New World Encyclopedia on Gehenna.

"The valley forms the southwest border of ancient Jerusalem that stretches from the foot of Mt. Zion to the Kidron Valley. It is first mentioned in Joshua 15:8. Originally it referred to a garbage dump in a deep narrow valley right outside the walls of Jerusalem where fires were kept burning to consume the refuse and keep down the stench. It is also the location where bodies of executed criminals, or individuals denied a proper burial, would be dumped. In addition, this valley was frequently not controlled by the Jewish authority within the city walls; it is traditionally held that this valley was used as a place of religious child-sacrifice to Moloch by the Canaanites outside the city (comp. Jer. 2: 23).

Like Sheol, Gehenna is sometimes translated as Hell."

Notice: "FIRES WERE KEPT BURNING TO CONSUME THE REFUSE"

The soul that sins will be burnt up and be eternal gone. Like sodom and Gomorrah. Burnt up and gone. Ashes under our feet.

God speaks of giants in the Old Testament Gen 6:4.

There are no giants today! The dead in Isaiah 14:9 is the Rephaim the fallen that joined him and refused to be born of woman; the 7k already sentenced to die(Revelation11) because they refused to be born of women and take part in this age but instead left their 1st estate to seduce women just as Satan did starting with Eve..Nephilim-fallen ones; naphal=to fall = resulting in Giants- mix flesh women with fallen angels and the whole purpose of the flood of Noah for every flesh except Noah and his family were corrupted. Noah and his family were the only pure pedigree at time of flood. They are locked in chains in darkness awaiting judgement ( 2 Peter 2:4) where they can no longer intermix and will be loosed again for 5 months picking up where they left off as in the days of Noah giving and taking in marriage at the 6th trump. Their spirits can still entice and possess people as can Satan's but their true spirit bodies the Hebr. Ruach, the solid spirit can no longer traverse-de-facto, where they can seduce women and sire giants.

Goliath of Gath, was the only giant I know of. Killed by a teen-aged David.

I don't read the Apocrypha. The link is out on the RED LINK entrance page. It has more about giants, Chaldeans, and other occult believing peoples. I have no interest in it, because of my background.

You can read it if it's important to you. I did Google " giant skeletons". I didn't see anything believable.

Are the giants exist today and not telling us?

MAPS would be helpful in the understanding of these chapters!

I would amend my commentary to say that a great-grandson (4th generation) of the 1st generation adult counted in the census of Numbers 1:1-54 may have had to have been born at the latest 25 years after that census only if Hebron was conquered ( Joshua 15:13-19) immediately after it was given as an inheritance to Caleb in Joshua 14:6-15. That would allow that great grandson (4th generation) to be counted in the army that took Hebron. Any time delay between Joshua 14:6-15 and Joshua 15:13-19 increases the likelihood that a great grandson was born (my previous comments assumed a 5 year delay between Joshua 14 and Joshua 15, but I grant that may not have occurred). So here are the generation requirements under the worst case scenario with the shortest allowance of time:

1st generation: A member of the army counted in Numbers 1:1-54 any age greater than 20 years old.

2nd generation: A son of the 1st generation that was not counted in the army in Numbers 1:1-54. As long as he turned 20 the day after the census.

3rd generation: A grandson born to a 2nd generation son who was old enough to have a 4th generation son (great grandson) born to him prior to the 25th year after the census in Numbers 1:1-54.

4th generation: A great grandson born to the 3rd generation at least 1 day prior to the 25th year after the census in Numbers 1:1-54.

The average ages of the 2nd generation and 3rd generation on the day that their son was born would have been no more than 22 1/2 years to meet these requirements. This is not unreasonable given that the slaves in Egypt clearly had a fast birth rate driven by having children at young ages and the fact that marrying in the first year of military service delayed entry into the army by a year which was an incentive for bearing children before they turned 22.

    Brother David:

Matthew 5:25 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body cast into GEHENNA (translated hell).

When Jesus was on earth Gehenna was the dump ground for Jerusalem where all the trash, garbage and bodies of dead criminals was dumped. It was on fire to DESTROY. Worms were there eating the dead flesh. As long as there was new fuel being dumped there, the worms never died nor was the fire ever quenched. It's a city park now, the is no longer worms or a fire.

Jesus was using Gehenna as an analogy, not something literal. If Jesus meant for you to take it literally, why aren't you missing eyes, hands and feet, that you have cut off and plucked out, to stay out of HELL.

    Matthew 5:30

    Matthew 10:28

    Matthew 23:15

    Matthew 23:33

    Mark 9:43

    Mark 9:45

    Mark 9:47

    Luke 12:5

    Matthew 5:22

    Matthew 18:9

    James 3:6

All the verses have GEHENNA translated as HELL

Here are the scriptures in the Old testament that refer to Hinnom.

    Nehemiah 11:30

    Joshua 15:8

    Joshua 18:16

    2 Kings 23:10

    2 Chronicles 28:3

    2 Chronicles 33:6

    Jeremiah 7:31

    Jeremiah 7:32

    Jeremiah 19:2

    Jeremiah 19:6

    Jeremiah 32:35

None of the scriptures have anything to do with the CHRISTIAN HELL.

@Don here is what I found-The Gihon Spring or Fountain of the Virgin in the Kidron Valley was the main source of water for the Pool of Siloam in the City of David, the original site of Jerusalem. Nephtoah opened, a fountain and a stream issuing from it on the border between Judah and Benjamin.

And they are still fighting over Gaza and The Bible Says 47 Ashdod with her towns and her villages, Gaza with her towns and her villages, unto the river of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border thereof:
That land was given to the Children od Israel.

I just wondered if the fountain of Nephtoah are the same as the Gihon springs; could that be possible?
