    Leviticus 14 continued...

Verses 21-32 speaks to the adjustments that are made to those too poor to bring all of the animals or even the kinds of animals for the sacrifices. The animal sacrifices are still necessary, and the rest of the rites remain the same for the poor as well as those who are not poor But allowances are made for only one lamb instead of three and different types of birds rather than just one type. God saves all who come to Him to be forgiven. He is merciful to rich and poor and in between."

Verses 33-57 details the way to deal with a home that shows signs of "leprosy" (most likely an overgrowth of mold, mildew, or fungi). There is a three step process to this problem, if needed. If after the first inspection by the priest, "leprosy" is visibly seen on the walls, then the home is shut up for 7 days. Upon reinspection, if no "leprosy" is seen, the home is clean and can be lived in. If there is still signs of "leprosy" then the wall that it is on must be scraped, torn apart and the stones taken out. Then this wall is replaced with new stones and mortar. After another 7 days, if no signs of "leprosy" is seen on the walls, then the house in clean and can be lived in. If the "leprosy" is still there and has spread, then the whole house is to be torn down and the materials taken out of the camp for disposal. Anyone who came in contact with the home needs to clean their clothes and bathe, and then be considered ceremonially clean that evening.

After the home is declared clean (perhaps even rebuilt) the priest will take two birds, cedar, hyssop, and red wool, an earthen vessel, and clean water. There at the home, the priest will perform the offering as he would do for a former leper (described in the middle of this chapter.

An, so is summed up the law concerning skin leprosy (various diseases) and clothing and dwellings that show leprosy (mold, mildew, fungus).

It is interesting that sin, trespass and burnt offerings are made for these conditions.

    Leviticus Chapter 14 continued...

Since the one being declared clean cannot yet enter the sanctuary, he must present himself to God at the door of the tabernacle.. It is there that he will lay his hand on the lambs before they are slaughtered, but the priest does the slaughtering in his place, since he is not yet ceremonially clean to do so. Before the lamb is killed, the priest presents it as a wave offering for a trespass offering with oil. Then the priest will kill the lamb, some of the blood will be collected in a bowl to be thrown against the north side of the altar, and a small portion will be collected in the priest's hand. The priest then uses this blood in his hand to anoint the former leper in the same way he was anointed to the priesthood, using his thumb to place blood on the former lepers right ear, right thumb, and right toe. Then the priest will dip his hand in the oil and sprinkle it on the man 7 times then anoint the man's ear, thumb, and to with the oil. The rest of the oil will be poured onto the former leper's head. having done this the priest has made atonement for the former leper before the LORD.

Jesus is our High Priest who cleanses us from all sin by His sacrificial death, He made atonement for us with His won blood and sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in believers as an ongoing Sanctifier.

After this, the priest shall offer another lamb for the sin offering in the same way as the trespass offering and follow that with the burnt offering with the flour and oil (meat) offering. Upon completion of these three sacrifices the former leper is determined to be ceremonially cleansed and fully atoned for. This triple offering, one right after the other reminds us of all the ways we are to be cleansed from the uncleanness of sin and all of the ways Jesus represented us, expiated our sins, and propitiated the wrath of the Father to take away our sins, cleans us from the putridness of sin, and restore us to wholeness.

    Leviticus Chapter 14

This chapter speaks further concerning leprosy (skin diseases) and about the process to declare a leper clean (and recovered from leprosy). This was a very involved process, with presenting oneself to the priest to be examined outside of the camp. The former leper is to bring two doves, cedar, red wool, hyssop and oil for the priest to perform a cleansing ritual that Moses taught the priests to do. The first dove was killed in a new earthen dish with fresh (running) water in it. The blood of the bird spilled into the water in the dish. Then the dove was buried. Next, the second bird was dipped into the liquid int he earthen dish along with the hyssop, cedar, and red wool. Then the living bird is set free to fly away. There isn't mention of what is done with the cedar, wool, and hyssop after they are dipped. Perhaps the hyssop was used by the priest to sprinkle the liquid on the former leper. It does not say this though. Perhaps the hyssop and cedar are used to scent the water. But it does not say this. And the red wool, perhaps it represents that sins are as red as scarlet, depicting Jesus being the slain lamb with our sins upon Him.

After this, the former leper is to wash his clothes, bathe his body, and shave off All hair on the body. Then he could come into the camp nut not abide in his tent with his family nor participate in the sanctuary ceremonies. This somewhat probationary period was to last 7 days.

The next day, the former leper goes to the priest with two male lambs and one female lamb (all without blemish), one tenth of an ephah of flour mixed with oil, and one log of oil for the priest to sacrifice as a sin offering, trespass offering and a burnt offering....continued

After this, the priest is to sprinkle the person to be purified and sanctified with the liquid. Perhaps the blood represents the justification of Christ and the oil the sanctification of the Holy Spirit (as one commentator mentioned).

My comments on water baptism, look beyond water baptism as in Acts 10 when the Lord rebuked Peter 3 times with that sheet with all the unclean Animals which were symbolic of the Church that was made clean by the blood of Gods lamb not water baptism that Peter was commanding. 3 times Jesus said John baptised you with water but i will baptise you with the H.G. and fire. That sheet was knit at the 4 corners with the 4 gospels the Cross, There is no other blood that can make us white as snow other then the blood of Jesus. Thats y the lord was so upset with peter he was making the blood of the lamb the CROSS insufficient impling they still needed water baptism, thats when the Lord rebuked Peter telling him what i have made clean do not call common or unclean peter was impling that the cross was insufficient to make them clean After that the lord had baptised them with the h.g. that resulted from the cross the blood here comes peter commanding water baptism impling what jesus did at the Cross was insufficient. When God rebuked Peter about the blood was all that was needed to make them clean. To imply we needed water baptism was to make the blood of no effect as said Paul.Once ya understand the enormity of the blood ( Calvary ) The lamb of God you will no more mention water baptism for the remission of sins its like a slap in the face of God. All the unclean animals in that sheet was the church that was made clean by the blood of the lamb not water baptism that peter was commanding Peter no more commands water BAPTISM after acts 10 Even in th O.T. without the shedding of blood no remission of sins.Ya make the cross(his blood) of No effect when ya command water baptism for the remission of sins.gbu no offence just truth Behold the lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world .What i have made clean do NOT CALL COMMON OF UNCLEAN thats what Peter was doing by commanding water baptism, impling the Cross was insufficient, they stilll needed water baptism behold lamb of God

The comments by Alex about y Jesus was water baptised, it was not for sin,as Jesus had no sin but as the sacrficial dove he wd have to be washed by running water, the Jordan was running water and John was of the tribe of Levi ,thats y the dove lit on Jesus marking him as our sacrficial dove that wd have to be killed and his blood sprinkled on the living bird which is the Church,Turtle doves imply lovers as Christ and the Church are lovers,Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the Church and gave his life for it. Jesus was the sacrificial dove thats y the dove descened on Jesus the H.G. was trying to teach them the law of Moses,Jesus had no sin but as the sacrficial dove he had to be washed by running water ( the JORDAN ) was running water. In song of Solomon the 2 lovers are Christ and the Church but they refer to each other as have Doves eyes. The Church has a leprosy spritually speaking,Thats y he said you are made clean by the word i have spoken unto you. While the King sits at his table my spicknard sends for a sweet smell, they were all in the house of simon the leper when Jesus spoke of forgivness for all of them,he was gonna forgive all their dept their sins etc.Thats y the Dove descened on Jesus he was the bridegroom ( the dove that wd have to be killed for the living bird, the Church ) Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and GAVE HIS LIFE FOR IT, This is y Jesus had to be baptised ( washed ) as the other disciples,But only he wd have to die for the sins of the CHURCH THE World. But we don't need to be water baptised . our baptism is only for a birth, H.G. BAPTISM results in a birth, there is a child in H.G. BAPTISM,John baptised you with water but i will baptise you with the H.G and fire, Absolutly nothing can be added to the cross ,its the greatest event ever to happen to this planet we cannot add anything to the cross his blood, in so doing it wd be a slap in the face of God and the LAMB OF GOD,thats y God told peter what i have made clean

A running issue is referring to body fluid released during intercourse. A man or woman can have a running issue.
  • Ruben Hartness - In Reply on Leviticus 14 - 5 years ago
Stanjett, Lev 14:2 is the law of cleansing for a "running issue a sore or open sore infection, Lev15:2, man, and v15:19 woman . Dealing with such as leprosy and v19 running issue of blood ministration both have a running issue. The cleansing is the same for both.
  • Stanjett on Leviticus 14 - 5 years ago
What is a running issue? I used to think that it was a woman on her period. BUT in this chapter it says a man can have a running issue.

Insight; It seems like you have a lot of ideas that go contrary to fundamental Doctrine: how do you think that ANY of the Scriptures are man's writings? Job 32:8 "But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding." 2 Timothy 3:16 says that "ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD-INSPIRED..." If one is not in agreement with the Spirit, how can he know the mind of the Spirit?

Do not lower the Son of God into a position of High Priest. A High Priest is a Sadducee of the Jewish religion. Jesus is not a Sadducee. There are no priests appointed by Jesus. Jesus appointed Apostles that never called him a high priest. Only Paul, the Pharisee, called Jesus a high priest. Paul considers himself blessed because of his bloodline, being a Jew, twisting the gospel of Jesus to fit.

the priests in those days seemed to really serve the combined role of doctor, lawyer, politician and psychologist in addition to their religious duties. Throughout all the statutes, it 's clear they made sure they got hold of the layman 's substance the more esoteric the ceremony, such as being specific as to which toe you dump stuff on, seemed a smokescreen to make it appear they had it goin ' on, but they needed to appear in the know of something that the rest of us were too unwashed to ever understand

"...And if the priest shall come in, and look upon it, and, behold, the plague hath not spread in the house, after the house was plastered: then the priest shall pronounce the house clean, because the plague is healed..." ) Leviticus 14:33-57) If a house had leprosy, if a house was unclean, a priest was to come an look upon the plague. If the plague was spread in the walls of the house, the priest would command that they take away the stones in which the plague was, and they were to cast them into an unclean place without the city. Then the priest would command the house to be scraped within round about, and they were to pour out the dust that they scraped off without the city into an unclean place. They were to then take other stones, and put them in the place of those stones; and he would take other mortar, and plaster the house. After all this, if the plague broke out again in the house and spread, it would be declared a fretting leprosy; it would be unclean. He then was to break down the house, the stone of it, and the timber thereof, and all the mortar of the house; and he would carry them forth out of the city into an unclean place... The priest was to cleanse the house with blood and water. ( Leviticus 14:29-53).

A house with leprosy was cleansed with blood and water... Jesus Christ, being the Great High Priest, has declared all houses unclean; yet, we all will not be carried forth out of the city into an unclean place.

Thank God, we can be pronounced clean: by Jesus Christ; His blood, and His water, we can be made clean.

Jesus Christ came not to destroy mens' lives, but to save them. People and houses can be cleansed.
